Pros: Very nice looking (marble, chandeliers, etc.), lots of amenities. Large rooms. In the heart of downtown. Good bar in the hotel lobby restaurant.
Cons: Not good value IMO. It was nice but there were several disappointing things in our short stay (see below) that I would have expected better considering the price. Service was prickly and unfriendly. The rooms were well appointed and large but I didn't find the value paying 3x for them. Pretentious... too fancy for me. Not a bad thing just know what you're getting. As an example, there's a harp player in the main lobby. One of the two bathroom sinks leaked at the handle and the sink didn't drain. It would have been obvious to housekeeping as there was standing water in the bowl but they didn't offer to fix it. I didn't complain because we were only there 2 nights and just used the other sink. Got coffee in the lobby restaurant...it was the worst coffee I've ever had. Smelled and tasted terrible. All of these things are relatively minor but for a huge price premium I expect a premium experience and didn't get it. I'll stay at a Double Tree or something comparable next time I'm in SLC.

Cons: The bathroom door was a sliding door that didn't lock, and didn't keep the steam out of the main room area. The pool area opened up outside, which led to quite a few dead bees and flies in the pool.

Pros: Overall great stay. The room and hotel was very clean. Staff was friendly. Loved the large flat screen tv with direct tv. Normally hotels just have crappy cable and it's always a pain to change channels but this having direct tv was awesome. Loved the in room kuereg coffee maker with k cups. Definitely a step up from the normal drip coffee machines normally found in hotels. And if that's not good enough for you, Starbucks is literally right next door. Loved the fact the pool and gym is 24hrs. Although the indoor heated pool wasn't warm enough on the day I went in June but the spa was nice. The restaurant inside the hotel was a little over priced for what you get and breakfast isn't complimentary. Even so I would for sure stay here again.

Cons: Head desk lady seemed annoyed with any family at the hotel she didn't hide it well she didn't like families there. The pool only stays open until 10:00. The rooms lighting is annoying the bathroom lights wouldn't work for some reason, the glass sliding door into the bathroom was horrible once it was shut it would take me a grown man to open it for the kids and my wife. Breakfast was so so, there is much better breakfasts out there I have stayed at the Hyatt House just 20 minutes away from the hotel and it has better amenities and breakfast. Also two of my children forgot toothbrushes so they went down to get one and they charged them for a toothbrush I mean for $160 a night that is ridiculous. Also we pulled out the hide a bed and there was a huge hairball from the wash or something it was pretty gross.

Cons: Wireless internet was poor at best. Contacted their tech support whose solution was to log in to the router and kick other people off the network, which did not help. Both upon my arrival and upon my departure a police officer was stationed in the lobby with his squad car in plain sight just in front of the entrance. Any hotel that feels the need to have a uniformed police officer (not a security guard) at their property with that kind of regularity, causes me concern that the hotel is unsafe. For this reason alone I will not stay at this hotel again.

Pros: I felt that the room was very clean and spacious, with a simple but stylish decor. The price was also much more reasonable than other hotels in the downtown area, as there was no major fluctuation between the weekend and daily rates.
Cons: The continental breakfast was subpar, despite being hyped upon check-in as one of the hotel's best features. I also had issues connecting to the internet, and had to cycle through several different networks before finally staying connected.

Pros: This hotel was perfect for our 2 night stay! Room was clean, modern, and well maintained, not to mention very spacious. Beds were extremely comfortable!! Service was friendly and helpful and the hotel is very centrally located and easy to find. Free breakfast was a nice perk. Our room was on the 3rd floor, north side, and was nice and quiet. Great value, I would definitely stay here again.

When arriving, Jarred had to use the restroom and the "clerk" was VERY rude and unfriendly. Pros: The hotel staff was friendly and gave helpful advice on local places to eat and even printed out MapQuest directions. The rooms were large and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was great with a nice selection and plenty of food to fill you up. We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. Even though you are downtown, the airport is only a 5 minute drive away.

Pros: They were very accommodating and friendly. They considered our needs and gave us what we needed. We had to change our booking because we had to bring a 2 year old with us and they gave us extra space with an extra charge. Their hot breakfast was very tasty and varied daily as to content. Cons: We didn’t get to stay here!! It was my husband and I anniversary and they bumped us to their sister hotel Fairfield in and suites. I paid $152 for this jug size bed room handicapped because I’m recovering from surgery. Then room they put us in at the other hotel we a plain room with 2 double beds. I had already paid for the room so she said I couldn’t do anything about it because it went through Priceline. I did contact the number for Priceline and they are going to find out why we didn’t get to stay at they Hyatt ! Very upset customer !!!!!

Pros: The location of the hotel was outstanding. Literally across the street from the sports arena and just a block away from the Salt Palace convention center. In addition, the staff was always very attentive to whatever we needed and whatever questions we had. So while it was a business trip and I had zero say as to where we were staying, I was very impressed and would absolutely stay there again next time I'm in SLC.
Cons: It was a new hotel (I think 5 weeks old) when we stayed so they were still working out the kinks. The room phone wouldn't work except for when on speaker phone, the thermostat unit wouldn't drop past 70 for the A/C setting and the position of the shower head to the shower door created inevitable run off onto the bathroom floor (nothing a towel couldn't soak up but, you know, still a curious choice). But those are very nit-picky things and will easily be overlooked the next time I'm in SLC because I will be staying there.

Pros: The hotel itself is nice. It's comfortable, clean. Seems best for business or couples. The indoor pool was fun with a city view.
Cons: We had a few problems with our room upon arrival. Online we had booked a room with a sofa bed, and the microwave/fridge. The room they gave us had no sofa bed for our kids, so they switched us to a room with no fridge/microwave. The staff weren't very friendly. When asking questions about breakfast, facilities, getting extra blankets and pillows etc. they were rude and treated us as if we were being incovenient with all these "silly" questions. The pillows were miserable! Down and feather pillows provide no support so it made sleeping on a nice mattress difficult.

Cons: TL;DR We were overcharged for the room. The room was dark and tiny. We were "upgraded" to a smaller, darker room. Don't stay here. Paying via priceline was $40 more than the hotel website advertised. On a night when the hotel was nearly empty, we were given an awkward corner room that was poorly lit and the size of a closet. Front desk was nice enough to "upgrade" us.... to a smaller and darker yet equally uncomfortable corner room. The robes were threadbare, faded leopard print, and gross. It was so terrible that we questioned whether we were on Candid Camera. I've been a lifelong Kimpton devotee but never again. There are so many great hotel options in SLC. Don't waste your time or money here.

Restaurant Bombara is a top class place, a play that other hotels should follow. Put a great place to eat under your roof. Don’t make it solely about margins for the overall hotel. Bring in a motivated exec chef to do something special.

Pros: Hotel is clean! The rooms were immaculate at check in. Beds were comfortable, and linens and towels were fresh. Front desk staff was able to provide the extra towels and other items we needed. Great location - right across the street from the Salt Palace Convention Center south entrance, and also just a couple of blocks away from City Creek mall. Walking distance to many restaurants and train.
Cons: There was no housekeeping during our 3 night stay which we were only told about at check in. I wouldn't have a problem with this as long as it was posted on the hotel website, but it's definitely not. Was told they would pick up trash placed outside the room by noon everyday, but there were no extra trash bags in the rooms. Sliding pocket door between toilet shower and sink kitchen area does not latch or properly close and toilet is right in front of the opening. And even though I checked in early (day before on the app) with notification of early check in, my room (and most others) were not ready until 3PM or later. Also, no late checkout for IHG members. Contract says if you don't want delivery of paper to your room, you would receive a credit to your bill every day. There was no paper delivery, and also no credit. Coffee in the breakfast area was awful during breakfast, and also awful plus cold when I tried to get a cup at 7pm. Apparently the coffee is not brewed into the carafes and instead brought out in a pitcher from the back and then poured into the carafe in the breakfast area. I used to work in a coffee shop, and many degrees of heat are lost in this process.

Which for me usually would not have been a problem except for how the lobby was so beautiful yet smelled like an retirement home, and to the point it was so overwhelming I got a headache because of it. And anyone who knows me personally knows I love old people but the hotel is more so fitted to an older age group. Also the rooms were very small for what I paid for. On top of that I originally booked a room with a King bed I was told my room was not cleaned yet mind you it was almost 5pm. So the lady at the front Desk said she'd "upgrade" me to a two queen room with a balcony and a "view". WRONG our room was facing the back of a building, no view whatsoever. Overall if your in your 20s I don't recommend this hotel unfortunately.

Cons: The bathtub in our room was not flat bottomed but curved and very difficult to stand in. Seems quite dangerous in fact. The door to our room was right next to another rooms door and all morning heard the bellman knock, then heard people go in and out all motioning long.

Cons: There was nothing good about this hotel and I would never recommend it to anyone. There were homeless people sitting in the parking lot the whole duration of my stay, the showers were filthy with dirt, the bedding was old and dated unlike pictured on several websites. I also noticed when first arriving we had no shampoo or towels and when I went to the front to ask for some they acted as if I were lying about the items not being in the room. The whole experience was a joke and I would never stay at a Rodeway Inn again.

Cons: The hotel clerk was very rude. We were scheduled to check in at 3pm. We didn't receive our room until 4pm. The room was dirty. There were cigarette burns in the bed covers, a no smoking sticker on an ashtray in a non smoking room. My daughter woke up with several bites. While we were gone Sat morning / early afternoon there was no housekeeping. The area is very noisy. There are a lot of homeless in the area. I had reservations for Friday - Monday. I checked out Sat afternoon. I would not recommend this motel to anyone.

Cons: - We had strangers knocking on our door looking for drugs at late as 2:00am and as early as 7:00am - this happened 8 times over 2 nights - The parking lot feels unsafe as there are loiterers and wandering roaming the balconies and hallways at all hours - do not leave anything in your car here and make sure your room is locked! - The heat did not work -- there was another guest who reported the same problem - I saw what appeared to be a drug transaction occur in the parking lot between a hotel and a stranger who drove up and parked - The water pressure was little more than a trickle

Pros: The rate was very reasonable and the desk staff wanted to be helpful in this instance. But it was more than I was willing to tolerate.
Cons: I arrived for a night driving through en route to various meetings to the east. When I arrived, I did not expect a luxury hotel stay - I mean it's an econo-lodge. The neighborhood did not feel comfortable and I did not feel safe leaving any of my bags in my car for any amount of time. That said, checking in was easy after a few minutes waiting for others ahead of me in line After receiving the key, I headed to the room, which was in a bit of a state of disrepair. The light switches upon entering the room did not work... and when I started to look around the room seemed OK but not great (again guys, it's an econo lodge... not a hilton). But when I looked up and saw that the smoke alarm had been pulled off the ceiling I decided that it was a negative experience overall. The fact that a non-smoking room had whatever housekeeping staff go through it and a smoke alarm pulled out of the ceiling and light switches not working gives me pause for the overall condition and care of the rooms and location. I requested a cancellation and we worked together on that and I was on my way. All in all I think the management means well but I would not stay again.

Cons: The hotel had closed the pool area early due to a flood - which was not mentioned upon booking. They had water logged furniture piled up in the middle of the parking lot. The rooms were poorly furnished and there were stains on everything! The water faucets didn't work without being forced and lighting fixtures weren't functioning in either of our rooms. The vending and ice machines were not where they said they would be. The mattress had stains on it and the bed spread had cigarette burns on it. I was severely disappointed in the over all quality of the hotel - I expect at least the same level of cleanliness as my own home and this was certainly NOT anywhere close.
