Pros: "The on board crew were pleasant for the most part. It was a full flight so they were also working hard. Check-in was easy, and the gate area had plenty of space to wait to board. We did get some sort of unspecific voucher for something for the entertainment system not working... have to log onto their site to even find out what it's for."
Cons: "Entertainment system didn't work, so luckily we had loaded up devices with stuff for the kids. We were hopeful that my son could watch a couple of movies, but they tried to reset it... at least we got a voucher. One seat back was missing the USB outlet and one didn't work in our row of three. Regular power (of which there are two... why don't the window seat get one?) was half working... so luckily everything was charged. The gate agent threatened to boot anyone off the plane to the next day if you tried to board before your zone was called... that seemed questionable."

Pros: "AC 018 takes the shortest route from Shanghai to Montreal. The check in and boarding were like a breeze. Cabin was clean, staff were amiable and hard working. The variety of drinks were plenty, the food matched the standard of cost efficiency flight ticket so how could you complain it? On board TV/Movie has new coming features such as HBO's Game of The Thorne, season 7. It was a comfortable and pleasant journey with the team of AC 018. Merci beaucoup!"

We had to stop to go to the restroom on the way to our gate, and the lady complained when I waited to go in after my wife came out. I told her I was going to do that, but she was apparently pre-occupied when I told her, because she was looking right at me when I said it. I then told her that I had let her know that was my plan, but she denied it, then told my wife she was just one of a hundred people. This left my wife in tears. This was a stain on an otherwise good flying experience, but it' tarnished the whole."

Cons: "We left 90 minutes late: 30 minutes because Air Canada arrived in Shanghai late, then another hour because we'd missed our window. As a result, I missed my connection and had to spend the night in an airport hotel in Montreal (which Air Canada paid for). These things happen, and they were very professional and sympathetic about it, but under the circumstances I can't give it more than 3 stars overall."

Pros: "I had a medical incident and air Canada moved me to a more comfortable seat and gave me oxygen to help me recover. Also the stuardesses all were really nice and made it their priority to make sure I was doing OK through the rest of the flight"
Cons: "There was no designated person as a medical professional to handle emergency situations. an emergency situation can occur anytime. luckily there was a passenger aboard who knew what to do I think his name was Dave you should give him thanks."

Pros: "Excellent and diverse film selection. I broadened my horizons watching documentaries on hacking, gun running, and on an Afghan refugee teen in Iran, a film about a black American teen in Germany, and a French drama."
Cons: "Most of the time economy class is uncomfortable because of the lack of foot room. So this time, for the long flight from China, I chose an exit row precisely for the extra leg space. However, there is no footrest at all , which as you're surely aware, is terribly uncomfortable when sitting for long periods, let along trying to sleep. Furthermore, the exit row seats are not provided a substitute for missing the usual back-of-the-seat pocket with magazines ; that means no spot to place books/papers/trash for the entire flight. Finally, I am 5'2 and petite, and was seated between two fairly slim men, and yet we were still all squeezed side to side. I had no elbow rest. I actually rested my head on one man's shoulder, once he was asleep, and hope he didn't notice. While this is unfortunately typical of economy class, it is not decent."

Pros: "We were delayed a little over an hour (on the field) before take-off because of information from Toronto that fog was delaying the landing time of the planes. The crew handled this excellently by making sure that we were made comfortable and the pilot gave us several updates as he got the information about take-off for Toronto. On the flight to New York on September 28th, I experienced my first landing where not even a tiny bump was felt when the plane touched the ground."

Pros: "I liked that is an all business carrier, the steward was personable and totally on charged. For a short flight it was excellent !!"

Pros: "The cabin attendants did a fine job and the aircraft was clean."
Cons: "I didn't like the in flight entertainment system. Some of the monitors did not work for some passengers and the crew had to reset the system several times which disrupted all passengers."

Cons: "I never received an e-mail to check in, and by the time I remembered (morning of), this resulted in me not having a seat assigned on my ticket. This caused a lot of needless stress, though to Air Canada's credit, they got all those waiting for a seat assignment on board. On my return trip, I did receive an e-mail - luckily, as the flight was overbooked again."

Cons: "The check-in counter in DCA was AWFUL with only two people running and no kiosks working. They were rude and didn't listen to us either. When we got to the food part, it was disguisting. First of all, I am vegetarian but even if I ate meat, I wouldnt have eaten it. So I just ate bread for the 13 hour flight. Besides one flight attendant, the rest were rude, harsh and had a generally bad attitude. AIr Canada has BY FAR been the worst travel experience for me thus far. I guess you get what you pay for."

Also I had wanted to upgrade my seat for this flight but was unable to because there was no representative at the huge airport in Shanghai. Nor could I do it online. That was a huge inconvenience!"

However, all of our checked luggage so can not make it. We are waiting for delivery on the next day. This type of short connection of international flight should not be arranged as we told you and AC when you told us the original booking was changed due to AC flight modification."

We almost missed our connecting flight, and our bags apparently did miss it, because they have not yet arrived in Chicago (see previous comments). Air Canada should have seen the problem in terms of timing with the connecting flight and expedited better. Will try to avoid Air Canada in the future, especially if there are connections in Toronto."

Cons: "service is poor. have been on both economy and busines class in air canada and you are treated very differently. the staff on economy treat you indifferently and have a little chip of their shoulder. the food is awful and most flights you have to pay for food, even for international flights, which is apparently against the law as they are obligated to serving food. i had to pay for a bowl of noodles - omg. essentially it is really about service. Dismal. It is noted they often win north american awards for their service. If anyone has flown american airlines - yes it may be the best of the worst. So if you have an option, skip it altogether. Try Cathay / Qatar / Singapore airlines wow!"

Pros: "On both legs of our flight to and from O'Hare to China, we had delays. The first was due to an ice storm in Toronto, where we changed planes, then the second due to compromised air space over the China Sea that Air Canada wisely chose to delay our flight rather than take a risk. The delays were handled professionally and pleasantly. It wasn't their fault. The agents and flight attendants were very attentive in trying to help us get our connecting flights, such as switching us to the front of the plane before landing so we could get off quickly. Alas, it didn't work, but they tried. Our checked bags came off quickly. I felt that we had more legroom on our AC flights than I have had recently on American aircrafts. Temperature was comfortable. We were regularly given water, drinks, and we had complementary meals with beer or wine. Food was pretty average, but the beverages were good. I would definitely fly with them again."

I use a wheelchair due to disability, so it's important to me to have someone take me from entrance to the gate and help getting on board. From the woman who helped me with getting me to the gate, the gate agent and flight attendants, I was very impressed with UA service today."

Cons: "What can you expect from united... the crew members were terrible absolutely unprofessional and unwilling to help. We were delayed for 3 hours in Taipei due to an issue with the plane that they were trying to fix. During this time many people were trying to change flights as they had connections in SFO. When they asked the hostesses for help, they either got rude unhelpful responses or got completely ignored. United really needs to train their flight attendants better."
