Top tips for finding cheap flights to Crete

  • Calgary and Crete might be almost 10,000 kilometers apart, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to fly from Calgary International Airport (YYC) to Heraklion International Airport (HER). Aegean Airlines is one of the airlines that will be able to take you from YYC to HER as long as you’re committed to doing it. You will need to be prepared to spend your fair share of time flying to HER, but it’s possible to make this flight so that you can enjoy what this island in Greece has to offer.
  • While Aegean Airlines will be able to get you from Calgary International Airport to Crete, there won’t be any direct flights on this route. More often than not, you will need to plan to make at least two and sometimes even three stops between these places. In a best-case scenario, you’ll spend about 20 hours traveling from Calgary to Crete. Search for the shortest possible flights to avoid those that could stretch out over two or three days.
  • Unfortunately, Aegean Airlines doesn’t offer first-class flights from Calgary to Crete, but you’ll be happy to hear that the airline does have business-class seats available. If you can afford to upgrade to business class on a flight to Crete, you should try to do it. You’ll be able to stretch out a little more than you would be able to otherwise. You’ll also be treated to a wider range of dining options and more in-flight entertainment when seated in business class.
  • Packing lightly for a flight from Calgary to Crete might not always be possible, but you should do your best to limit the amount of luggage you bring. Aegean Airlines will charge you about $50 for a single checked bag on a flight to Crete and about $65 for a second one. You might also have to pay more than that for your luggage if it’s very bulky and/or heavy.
  • When you fly from Calgary to Crete, you’ll need to arrive at the airport about two to three hours before your flight to get all settled in. If you have time to kill after moving through security, you should think about visiting the YYC Quiet Space to unwind. It’s a quiet area that you can use to read, meditate, or even take part in some yoga so that you’re all ready for your flight.

Comfort was left wanting due to such a long flight, made the wife and I wish we could upgrade the seats to Business class or First Class, but did not have that option. Food was good but had very limited options and I have a dietary restriction which was difficult for the staff to accommodate since everything provided came with cheese on it. (Cheese could potentially kill me) Did not have an option to inform the staff until we were already in the air about the restriction and was not provided another option before flight departed.

It was a 2 hour flight to Taiwan. Lunch was served. China Airlines goes above and beyond for their passengers.

Great flight, although I flew out of ONT and that is where my car is, lol

Staff is friendly, great variety of entertainment, check in a little messy but due to people not listening. Overall a pleasant experience. Would use again in the future.

3 of the 4 flights had delays despite the weather being fine, but still managed to make all connections

Ask flight attendant for water during flight and she was a little rude get the water.

Baggage made it successfully to destination despite short layover. Appreciate that.

Staff were good and nice. There should me 3 meals instead of only 2 and snacks.

Flight was delay almost 2 hours from Hong Kong to Taipei. Last minute gate change from 24 to 66. Long way walk. We need to run in the Taipei airport to catch our next flight from Taipei to Vancouver. That is so suck!

Excellent staff made the boarding process fast and easy. Friendly crews on both flights from Saigon to Taipei and Taipei to Los Angeles. Will fly China Airlines again.

For some reason there was a change in the cockpit which delayed us by an hour

Menu selection was limited and not appropriate for a flight of this length

I like WJ but I don’t like traveling anymore

Good flight. No I’m seat entertainment. But my phone worked just fine on the west jet app.

4 hour delay, lost our bags, staff was loud and it was an overnight flight

We were late boarding, but it all worked out. So, no problem.

It was good but not comfortable seat with the long legged persons.

No problems here. WestJet does a good job, even on their short haul flights

Boarding was fine, but then we were delayed a while due to some baggage issues, then de-icing.

Tried to reserves seats and WestJet My Trip shows not available until 24 hours before the flight. When check-in was finally available and I tried to get seats again I was not able to get to select seats for me and my wife together. All in all, was not able to select seats together on Kiwi, paid extra for seats on Westjet and still did not got seats together, not pleasant for such a long flight and with my wife not very good with flying, disappointed on the way the system works with regarding to seats reservations, even with paying extra for them.

It was good! Appreciated that it was very on schedule so it made the connecting flight less stressful

Two flights, both poor. No entertainment. Cramped and uncomfortable seats, little space, the rest was OK. Staff were acceptable good.

The crew was doing their best on an old plane needing updating. Chairs that creaked and wouldn’t stay in position. My tray table was unusable as was on-board entertainment due the audio needing usb earphones (that were not provided). Prior to boarding in Toronto and despite being scheduled for a wheelchair and assistance, we were dropped off by clubcar without a wheelchair which I found myself by a gate. Due to no boarding gate assigned at that time we waited and when it was, it subsequently was moved from 64 to 95. No help could be found so I pushed my husband’s chair to that furthest gate in the airport at the highest speed possible for a 73 year old. And by that I mean I ran. It was a very stressful experience.

Wifi wasn't working on one of the UA flights after boarding.

Leg room was lacking. Legs crammed into seat in front.

T hey did a great job. Flight was on time .

the plane was old. the wifi didn’t work. the entertainment was boring and dated. the charging ports were impossible to find. i was mostly ignored by flight attendants that had no problem speaking to the man beside me. i got two drinks the entire time i was on the plane.

Crew was not very helpful. They forgot to serve me coffee and had to wait for a long time.It looked as if they were not very happy with what they were doing.

The flight I was connecting with waited for me even though my 1st flight was late. I really appreciated that.

The seat is too hard and my back and bottom are having servers pain

It was overall above average experience. If there is only one thing i could complain about was the lack of wifi availability on my flight from Vancouver to San Francisco

Not much food available, not able to choose seats to be near each other, tv did not work

I think Air Canada is the only airline I've flown where they don't give you at least a free cookie.

All but one of four were on time. One was delayed for an hour

Got the email to check in but when I tried to check in it said "cannot connect to server", so checked in at the desk.

It took 5 hour to get a crew to D Ice the plan. We had to sit on the runway for 5 hrs. in Calgary. It snows most of the winter. No proactive plan. In addition, after 3 calls to customer service they couldn't figure out how to have my wife and myself sit together on her birthday weekend. Everybody kept passing the buck. No decision from customer service, luggage drop off or check in team. The experience was a complete mess! I don't think we'll ever fly on this airline again.

my flight from Toronto to Chicago was horrible. we tried to land 3 times, couldn't. they went to Milwaukee & sat on the plane/runway for another 1.5 hours. then they flew us back to Toronto. we had to stay overnight. the communication was bad. just told us to wait for an email update. no credit, no voucher for my additional night in a hotel. nothing. I will not fly air Canada again.

The wifi I paid for did not work. The seats are tight.

The seats werr comfortable Would like a better snack that a tiny bag of pretzels

There were no free snacks…little pretzel bag or cookies like we had on our flight out.

boarding needs to be streamlined load the back of the plane first

Try to humanize onboarding and take AI out. It's embarrassing and useless

no kiosks to check in with- it’s 2024!!! the flight was so hot and uncomfortable - not sure if that’s what caused a lady to faint during the flight but i was absolutely miserable.

Air Canada from Edmonton to Toronto was disappointing but Lufthansa from Toronto to Frankfurt was excellent.

I ended up buying (for $340) "extra space" seats because I my flying partner was given a STY boarding pass, leading me to conclude that she was on standby and that we had to buy seats on the flight. I later learned that the flight was not sold out and that we could have gotten on as usual. To be honest, I felt swindled.

I'm Canadian. I have the unfortunate experience of pretty not having the choice to fly with them. THEY ARE TERRIBLE.

It was pretty bad delays I missed my train in Sweden, twice.

Everything was fine except that the ground personnel in Toronto wasn't able to operate the jet bridge, so that everybody was stuck in the plane after landing for 40 min, so I missed my connection.

They have more than 4 hours delay, and broken all my bags

Nothing -they cancelled the flight with less than 12 hours notice
