Staff on board was cheerful. Airport staff was Ok, but the plane was late and the boarding by zones makes it very stressful because I was in the last zone and therefore wasn’t sure I could get my bag onto the overhead rack. Plane was FILTHY.

Delayed flight with no announcement, no order on boarding (people were jumping on top of each other), during the flight with seatbelt signs up little kids were running on the aisle with parents or crew saying nothing about it. The only highlight was the friendly crew, but anything else was terrible.

Chaotic boarding Food barely edible Premium economy? Not much of a difference on Lufthansa Entertainment console waa full of glitches Never again, Lufthansa!

We had to board and unboard, this could have been avoided

My baggage was lost several days

Multiple cancelled flights ended up cancelling the whole itinerary. Went on my own and booked directly the day of flight and am demanding full refund.

From USA, San Jose, Ca, to Frankfurt, Germany everything was good (flight on 08/31/2018 - 09/01/2018). They have been very profesional, beganing wih the boarding time untill the arrival in Frankfurt. The flight to Romania was a different story. They haven't been very professional at all. The flight had a delay and nobody said a word. It was just a clerck there who didn't tell to the Lufthansa passengers for a while anything about our delay. So, finally, he said after 15-20 minutes that our fligt will be later, 20 minutes, than the scheduled time on our tickets. They seemed do not care too much about the Romanian passengers."

Not the best crew. Extremely annoying with mask wearing. Even when I was eating and drinking they would come up to you to tell you to wear your mask. Extremely annoying.

Cons: "This airline charges for everything, and after you pay once, they try to charge you again, and again, and again (four different people tried to charge me 4 different times for my two checked bags). And they lost the record of my payment, so I had to show 4 times the Amex receipt showing that I had paid before. It took 45 minutes and 4 non receptive agents for me to get my luggage checked. British Airways is significantly better."

I am a senior and I was travelling with 2 other friends and they got their email for check in and I didn’t then when we went to checkin my boarding pass had me as standby so you can imagine that I was in a panic wondering if I was coming home to Ottawa airport with them or not. I finally was able to get help at the counter and she was very helpful, but this worrying takes all the fun out of a great vacation. I certainly will not be flying anywhere again. I know this isn’t only Air Canada’s problem but thanks for letting me rant.😁

Flights canceled due to staff shortages

Delayed 5 hours with little communication and no accommodations.

The US Customs/immigration step at Montreal creates a mess. Your checked bag must be xrayed and cleared to enter "U.S soil" (which is still in Canada) which makes for huge delays, confusion and mishandling of bags. My carry-on, which I checked at the gate at Air Canada's request, never got cleared. So I arrived in Atlanta where my bag was not at baggage claim. Nor was there an agent to make a claim to, and it was not even 5 p.m. I had to go all the way up to the Air Canada check in desk in the International Terminal to try to find an employee to whom I could report the missing bag. An agent for AC had to be called to respond, there was no one at their check in desk. The person who finally did talk to me made ME send a photo of my baggage ticket and boarding pass to his supposed phone number, which he said he would use to start a claim. This never happened, I got no confirmation that a trace had been started and I had to call AC the next day.

Trip from hell, sorry to say. Halifax - Toronto left late (the new normal…). Toronto - Austin cancelled. Re-booked through Chicago. Flight left more than an hour late. Chicago - Austin left two hours late. Arrived in Austin around 1 am. Ended up traveling - Airport to airport - 15 hours. Food in Chicago left me with upset stomach, so I ended up spending more time in the privy than in my seat. Attendants though supportive. A woman sitting next to me said that her flight from Toronto to Austin was also cancelled last time she flew that route. Makes you think twice about going somewhere. I am 71 so I know how much things have changed. Not entirely the airlines’ fault, but to some degree yes. Maybe sell less tickets, but deliver on the tickets you sell. I failed to avoid going through Toronto this time. I usually go through Montreal. Toronto has a really bad reputation, in many areas, and I was reminded of this the hard way.

Plane left two hours late - I missed my connection. Was given a stipend for an overnight stay, but no explanation was given about the delay. Staff couldn't tell me if my checked baggage was on the plane the next morning. I probably won't fly Air Canada again."

Cons: "Air Canada shares a trait with many other incompetent organizers: everything is fine if nothing goes wrong, but there are no contingency plans in place in case something goes wrong. So, things get more and more delayed. Can't you predict roughly when the plane is going to land (once it is in the air!) and arrange for some gate to be open, so that we don't have to sit on the ground for 45 minutes once it has landed, for example? People who know how to organize are ordinarily capable of doing that. Furthermore, the lack of transparency is really frustrating: we just sit on the tarmac with no indication of how long we're going to be there, and the estimates of the delays are completely wrong when we're given them."

Cons: "Our flight originating in Halifax was 1.5 hours delayed and we knew there was no way we would make our connecting flight in Toronto with a 40 min window to pass through customs, US immigration, and reenter security into the US bound F gates. We requested to be rebooked for early the following day to avoid being stranded in Toronto. Acknowledging it was unlikely we could make the connection, the staff told us that because the computer didn't list it as a "missed connection", they could not take any steps to rebook us. Of course, we missed the connection and were stranded for an entire 24 hours in Toronto with two small children."

Cons: "Our flight from Halifax to Los Angeles via Toronto should have left at 3:15 on Sunday so that we could arrive back in Los Angeles by 10:14 pm. Instead the flight was delayed and left 200 people stranded and waiting in line for customer service. Because I did not have cell service in Canada, I was forced to wait 2 hours in line only to have the agent at the counter make me talk to an agent on the phone. Prior to that, we were shocked that one of the only two agents at the counter left the counter to talk to people in line behind us instead of servicing the customers first come first serve. When I asked him to please return to the counter to help the next person in line, he mumbled that that was not what he wished to do. Meanwhile, all flights out of Toronto were fully booked that night. The delayed flight finally left at 1:30 am. Had Air Canada notified its customers about the 10 hour delay, we could have spent that time in Halifax. Both my husband and I were very disappointed in how AC handled the whole situation. Both the counter agents and the phone agent were unhelpful in offering us options."

Then we learned the plane had technical issues which lead to a 50 minute delay, then air canada did nothing as in terms of compensation. My audio jack for the entertainment system was broken, seat 19F on flight 617 by the way... Then I got up to use the washroom and when I came out I had to wait 30 minutes at the back of the plane standing until the servers were done serving drinks and snacks/food. Then the landing was terrifying as the plane was swooping/shaking much more than normal, even the board crew looked a bit worried. Could NOT wait to be done of the flight, one of my worst ever."

Cons: "The seating was absolutely HORRENDOUS. Even though I'm nearly 6'3" (close to 1.90m), I generally never complain about seating space or legroom, even on low cost flights. This particular TAP aircraft, however, despite looking quite new, had some of the most cramped seating ever. Additionally, the trays were minuscule (you could barely place the entire food tray the service during the flight, let alone have another drink at the same time on the tray). Also, on the inbound flight (this was the return one), the seats were fitted with a very simple and clever tablet-holding mechanism, so you could easily watch something on your table while eating your food (from a similarly small tray table). The seat back pockets do not have any material/fabric on the sides, so stored items could easily slip out sideways from the pocket. Shame to have such a good in flight service and to be a punctual airline if you're going to carry your passengers cramped like cattle in seats 'rivalling' the ones on Ryanair flights on 4-hour long journeys."

They changed 4 times!!! a) Having tickets with seat assignments free of charge, had the chosen seats confirmed on e-ticket. b) At airport, 3 days before departure, attendant informed that seats assignment had been erased; she made new seat assignments at worse location; c) On check-in, found that seats were changed again to worse even; now to the back, and “2 in the middle of 4”. d) Had to pay to get my original free of charge seat assignments!!! Had similar situations in all my recent TAP flights. Cannot believe is a system problem! Looks like more a TAP policy to short-change (long time, in my case) customers."

Cons: "I booked this flight months and months ago on Kayak, excited by what I thought was an excellent deal to go visit an old friend. When I got to the Boston airport, I was told there is a fee to check a bag with the ticket type I purchased- of 90 DOLLARS each way!!! This is absurdly expensive. I tried to pay with cash as I had very little on my card, and was told this isn't possible. So I had to pay the fee, and arrive at my 7 hour layover with next to no cash on my card- too little to buy a meal in the airport. So I had a miserable layover experience. I do not recall seeing this baggage fee listed anywhere on Kayak when I booked my flight- it looks like this policy took effect in September 2017, but I booked my flight in July. I am very upset about this additional charge- it is dishonest and I will not be flying with TAP again. I am also considering using alternatives to Kayak, as the TAP representative said that it's Kayak's fault the baggage fee wasn't listed."

There was no announcement for people with tight connections or about what to do if we couldn't make them. That tap didn't plan out sufficient connection times for the conditions of the airport, and that it was security, not to itself, that did anything to try to expedite is through passport control, etc was disappointing and resulted in several extra hours stuck in the airport for me and for those on one of those other missed flights having to wait overnight for another seat"

I was also seated right next to the bathroom, which usually isn't so bad, but since most of the passengers were elderly, it was being used literally nonstop for the majority of the flight. The crew only briefly cleaned it once... I was seated next to a screaming toddler as well. This isn't really the airline's fault, but it certainly didn't help. I felt like I did not get my money's worth for this flight and that it was a poor experience."
Cons: "United needs stricter rules about boarding and de-boarding during Covid. They lag behind other airlines. De-boarding especially needs to be controlled. Very disappointed. Also, after row 21 there are no screens and you have to use your own device. Then provide outlets! Jeeze that's ridiculous. You need to have plugs if you have to use your own device during the flight!"

Cons: "The economy seats on the Lufthansa A350 were extremely uncomfortable and seemed excessively narrow as well has having cramped legroom. I could not get comfortable let alone sleep, and my backside felt like I had been sitting on a park bench rather than a long haul coach airline seat. The change added an additional layover, and put us at our destination nearly 6 hours later than out original booking. This meant we lost a decent portion of the first day of our honeymoon. However, we were forced to stay an extra day when our return flight was cancelled. After spending 8 hours in the airport we were informed that our Monday flight was cancelled, and the next available flight would not be until Wednesday! United Airlines let us down on the way to our destination and on our trip home. Air Canada was great, but I dread having to use their partner United Airlines."

In the last 6 months that I have traveled via United, this has happened every single flight. Some flights have been so delayed that they have given me a partial refund; but many flights, like this one, are delayed long enough to be disruptive but not long enough for them to issue customer care rebates. In an ideal world (i.e. a world that is not possible every single time), things would go smoothly and no delays happen at all - but waiting inside the plane at the gate for 45 minutes is not great either. I'd like a partial credit towards a future flight; I travel with United frequently but if this waiting-on-the-plane-while-still-at-the-gate problem persists, I'll change to another airline."

Even if the United flight has an Air Canada code share United passengers MUST clear customs manually. How hard is this for flight attendants to understand?"
