The flight was quick, with no delays. The crew was nice and helpful!

This all began when airlines charged for baggage and carry on became the only way to travel without excess fees. Cons: "The boarding process is very confusing. There are so many different boarding priorities and programs, it is difficult to know where you are in the boarding process. Even if you have a ticket labeled as Group 1, you may still be one of the last boarded because of all the different programs that have priority over you. Would be better to limit the advance boarding to people who need extra help and a single program. This leads to the question, why are there so many different programs? Wouldn't it be easier to have a single loyalty program? If you don't qualify for advance boarding because you did not purchase a first class seat, or you haven't reached the advance boarding requirements, you don't qualify. Let's start thinking about the customer again, and less on the profit margin. How would one of your executives feel if they had a boarding Group 2 and 85% of the plane was already boarded by the time your group was called, thereby limiting the space for your correct size carry-on? One more thing that would be beneficial, enforce the size limit for carry-on luggage. I have been to airports that limit the size with a box on the x-ray machine so you can not even get an oversized piece of luggage through security. Just one idea for the industry."

Check in was grueling. First time people were having a hard time. Air Canada did not acknowledge that I had already paid for my two checked bags. Now I have to chase the refund. Another person next to us experienced the same thing. Very poor customer service.

Other passengers continue to be the hardest part of flying now.

Cons: "A 6-hour international flight should provide food and entertainment. I flew Toronto to Port of Spain. No free food (not even pretzels), no inflight entertainment system, cramped seats with poor legroom, grumpy flight attendants, an hour delayed due to disorganized boarding process."
Pros: "The flight boarded quickly and even though we were at the back of the line there was still overhead bin space for our carry on luggage. The in-flight entertainment worked well on our iPads (no need to rent one) and the stewards always had smiles on their faces. The flight left on time and landed a few minutes early which is a bonus when you are on vacation."
Pros: "Flying to/from the US in a wide body is always more comfortable than a smaller plane. Air Canada buy on board, ability to purchase Business Class meals in economy (pending availability) and swayback entertainment continue to be Air Canada’s strengths."

Cons: "I arrived at the gate and looked at my ticket to see "GTE" where the seat number usually is. I was informed upon arriving at the desk at the gate that that meant Air Canada has also decided to participate in the ridiculous practice of overbooking their flights and that even though I purchased my ticket roughly 8 weeks prior, there was a chance I might miss my flight to my friend's WEDDING. The lady who was working the desk was as unhelpful and dismissive as you could possibly imagine, refusing to look at me and giving me attitude for merely waiting in the area to see if anyone had missed the flight so I could get on. It was surreal; the only way I could describe her incomprehensible behavior would be to say it was as if her boss were right in front of her and she was trying her damnedest to get fired. It was one of those situations where you could tell this miserable, miserable person was enjoying the power trip she was on and doing everything in her power to make me feel helpless and angry. I made my flight, miraculously, but it was the worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life, airport or not."

Luckily when I fly from my birth place of St. John's NL, you're ground staff are the absolute best! I can give "shout outs" to each and every one of them. From those ready for retirement to the new staff just in from "who knows where", they get the whole "customer service" priority that your airline needs to focus on. Your management in Halifax "Sharon" is out of this world too, other than that whether through Lufthansa, Air Canada or anywhere I would travel, seeing that red leaf on your wing would make me ashamed to be Canadian."

The flight - although half empty had no place for my briefcase, but I was "ordered" to push my sealskin bag under the dirty greasy seat in front of me. When I requested they store it upfront for take-off & landing - the french female steward started flirting with the man sitting next to me and didn't even offer a response. When drinks came around - I was handed a half empty glass with juice on it's exterior and borrowed a napkin from the next seat. Later I did get a napkin "thrown gently" over the person she enjoyed speaking with. I was happy to wait until connecting passengers disembarked before the local traffic, but was appalled when the more senior female steward stopped a local passenger who I know has anxiety about flying - to insist she let the other passengers off first. Air Canada needs to be educated on what human behaviour entails, before they can graduate to customer service. Together with my first name, you can know my last name is Floyd"

There is no entertainment system which was ok since it was a red eye flight. Cons: "Very very bad customer service. I was flying to Rome from NYC on Friday night and my flight was cancelled. I was just notified by a text saying that there was a change in my flight. After calling customer service, I was forced to take the afternoon flight on Friday as I had to be in Rome for a wedding on Saturday. Even if I was rushed to the airport (my call with the customer service took place at 12.00 and the flight was after 2.30 hours...) and cancelled all my appointments and had to take special permission to leave from work, I was never offered any upgrades or refunds while at the same time the attitude of the rep was take the change or leave it. At the airport, I called again the customer service to understand better the cancellation policy based on their website and their response was to apply on the website and maybe I would get a little bit of money and they don't offer upgrades for these kind of situations. They indicated that it is up to gate manager to decide for upgrades, which when I tried this approach I was notified that the customer service should have flag me appropriately....I don't really care about the refund or the upgrade as at the end I was able to reach my destination on time; however, it was extremely disappointing to see a whole organization that does not take into consideration their customers time and ignore any descent customer service to them. Simply, never again."

I had to deal with online customer service while the person at the counter couldn’t help. It finally took 3 people at the counter to send me away. Once on the plane for a 14+ hour flight, I couldn’t use the bathrooms freely as they were filthy. The staff obviously didn’t maintain the bathrooms during the entire flight. The food served made me wish that I had bought take-out food for 3-meals prior to my boarding. the quantity of food was inadequate for the long flight as well. 1 extra snack would have been appreciated. I will likely book my future trans-Pacific flights with another airline."

Cons: "The usual things that you can't do much about: small package of pretzels, bathrooms, crowded. I wasn't unhappy, it just goes with flying."

Pros: "Plane was filthy & disgusting! I asked the stewardess for a towel to wipe down my table that was covered in sticky gunk, she just handed me a Wet One. Passengers table next to me was the same. My checked was only 3 lb over the 50 lb limit. United actually made me take 3 pairs of dirty jeans out & carry them with me in a Target shopping bag! Ridiculous!"

Cons: "On the express smaller planes you have to gate check your rollarboard suitcase which is fine but if your in first class they dont have a separate tag from economy class so i got my bag last even tho i was in first."

Cons: "GA called for all "people with disabilities" to board first. How about simply asking for people who need a little extra time...PWD's is a bit of a label that doesn't work for me. While we were boarding the white female FA made a snide comment that maybe passengers should not bring more than one bag. She was also rude to the other FA."
Pros: "Nothing flight got canceled and they couldn't even get me out the same day .. Due to there Maintnence issue most horrible expierence"

Cons: "No leg room or entertainment. Receiving baggage after the flight took 15 min (carry-on baggage)"

Pros: "i was moved from my flight the day earlier to this one because i was sick. thank you! flying 6 hours while sick is the WORST. and i had a window seat!"
Pros: "I liked that you guys had free movies. Good ones at that."
