Cons: "When We proceed to check-in to checking our bags, we have an issue with the weight. So, to compensate, we remove some itens from our bag and put on our carry-on bags. The employees of the Avianca realizing that told me that I need to weight my Carry on bag. I never see something like that before, I ask to her if everybody need to weight the carry on bag, She told me yes, but I stay on Checking places for a long time and I don't see anybody weight theirs carry on bags. Basically the company want to get my Money forced me to pay for extra weight."

They refused to have conversation and would randomly leave to the back office for 20 minutes at a time or stop assisting people at all. There were people screaming at the ticketing counter and security was called. In the end we spent 14 hours waiting there for a new flight, got split up and sent to different countries, had to miss work, and were not given any flight credit, accommodation, or even an apology."

Pros: "We just spent the last 3 weeks in South America including Peru, Ecuador and Galapagos. We took a total of 9 flights with Avianca including a couple of 50-55 minute connections. Flights were consistently on time and service was great. Amazingly, our luggage made it too despite the short connections. Service was very good. The crew was pleasant and they were always serving drinks and food/ snacks even on short flights although food is usual coach fare. All in all a very positive experience. Most of the North American airlines could learn a thing or two regarding punctuality, service and baggage handling."
Pros: "When attempting to make the connection flight in Columbia, I was informed that I was being placed on standby due to overbooking by the airline. I was traveling with my service dog also. What is exactly am I supposed to do in Bogota, Columbia for an unexpected additional 24 hours? I had no money, and my credit card wouldn't work there. This was the worst airline experience in my life. Absolutely horrible. I will never travel with Avianca again. Avianca staff spoke hardly any English, so I couldn't hardly communicate with them either. Horrible."

Pros: "Bag drop-off was quick and efficient for those checked-in online. Clean modern aircraft (A330) with decent space for economy class. Not spacious, but not cramped either. I felt comfortable for the entire six hour flight without leaving my seat. 2-4-2 seat layout in economy is pleasant. Food was satisfactory. From prior experience I know that the business class seats on Avianca's A330 are very comfortable with a lie flat 180 degree recline. Luggage delivery in Bogota is super-fast generally, although in this case it did not matter given the long immigration delay."
Cons: "Entertainment system took over 90 minutes to boot up properly, which also meant in-seat lighting was not working for this time. Immigration arrivals processing in Bogota took too long. Passengers were arriving without forms completed and immigration officers allowed them to fill them out at the immigration desks instead of sending them away. Queue control was unsatisfactory."

My luggage was lost in Calgary and so I went on to Penticton, to Osoyoos. The next day, West Jet delivered my suitcase to me. I appreciate the voucher I was given to buy a few things and the promptness of my luggage. We live in Canada, the weather in the winter can be quite an annoyance and so it was last week."

After over 5 hours on the highway I finally arrived to the airport at 2:27 and the Aeromexico counters were empty. A lady from Lufthansa told me the flight had just closed and suggested that I call aeromexico’s phone number. I did that and the gentleman on the phone told me I should go to the check-in counters. I discovered a person who couldn't read her ticket stub correctly had taken my seat, but instead of insisting that she move, I asked if I could have an emergency exit row seat and was told "Yes," I could. I had to whole row to myself. Those seats, while as comfortable as the rest, made the screen mounted on the back of the seat ahead of me a little hard to see because of the greater than usual distance between the seats. But there certainly was a lot of legroom!"
Cons: "The only thing I didn't like was an aspect not totally in Aeromexico's control - the disembarkation system and the ugly process of Mexican immigration. The plane was left parked on the tarmac somewhere in nowhere'sville, making a trip to the terminal by bus necessary. The bus waited and waited and waited for a wheelchair to arrive from the main terminal to allow two elderly passengers to be removed from the plane. All in all that process took more than a half-hour (making the two-hour connection time more anxiety producing). Then the bus sat outside the terminal for another 10 minutes with no explanation being provided to the passengers worried about making their connection. To top it off, once the bus doors opened the passengers were ushered into a large hall filled with hundreds of passengers all having to get through Mexican immigration - during lunch hour or something, for there were only six officials actually asking questions and several empty inquiry windows that could have been operational. I finally got to an immigration clerk just 15 minutes before my connecting flight was to take off - breezed through the interview and got the passport stamped, and then had to run to dump the luggage onto another conveyor belt leading I hoped to the connecting flight. An Aeromexico staff person asked me "Seattle?" and when I answered "YES!" was ushered to a waiting electric golf cart that whisked me close to the ramp to Gate 57. Without that additional help I'd never had made the flight. Mexico City is NOT a place to try to do a plane connection in less than 3 hours!"
Pros: "The flight was a Delta code share. It said non stop even though we had to change planes in Monterrey. It was unclear which terminal the flight departed from. A fellow passenger was given a boarding pass JFK to Guadalajara. In Monterrey they wouldn’t let him go through security. We went to the gate to find an agent to help. Of course there wasn’t one. I asked security to,page an agent. One arrived several minutes later, seemed to understand, and escorted him through security. On our return, the email I received to check in for the flight said we were flying JFK to Guadalajara. In fact we were flying the opposite. Clumsy and confusing. The food was dreadful (at least there was some?). The service onboard was courteous but not friendly. All four flights departed and arrived late. The jet bridge wouldn’t work on our arrival back at JFK and we were stuck on the plane another 30 minutes."

Cons: "My issues are two part: 1 - I wasn't informed that I was required to retrieve my luggage from the carousel on this flight from George Town to Toronto. I thought perhaps I missed something, however, the three other couples that were in the same predicament I was weren't aware either. This caused a massive headache, the instructions were superbly poor on how to retrieve the luggage, and the process was completely a waste of time. We had to talk with three different people, the person that took us back to the carousel showed no urgency despite us all explaining that we were on a short layover, and might miss our next flight, and even though we had our passes to get through customs, we were made to wait in line to have our baggage inspected. A completely broken process that could've been avoided with a friendly reminder at check-in. 2 - Once I was able to retrieve my luggage I picked it up off the carousel only to find the handle on one piece of luggage had been ripped off, and the plastic lining on the other bag was destroyed. Admittedly I find this to be no surprise after seeing how mine and everyone else's luggage was handled so poorly upon being loaded into the cargo. I saw my luggage being tossed 3-5 feet into the cargo area - literally picked up, and with complete disregard flung like it was a trash bag being thrown into the dumpster. Since I didn't have time to discuss this with any staff due to my prior issue and being unable to find a representative once I landed back in Vancouver, I called the next day to discuss this over the phone, but the representative explained that I was only able to make a complaint in-person at the time of baggage retrieval. The person was absolutely useless and unwilling to help. This was by far the worst treatment I've had at any time in my life while flying any airline. The trip to George Town was with American Airlines, and even though it was longer, and a tad bit more expensive, the service I had with them was stellar by comparison to my experience with AirCanada. Going forward I will only be using AC when there are absolutely no other options."

We were delayed on departure, then on the tarmac, then in the air, and finally when getting off the plane. I am glad that I was rebooked and was given a hotel to stay at, but I did not like the way I was treated by Air Canada staff at customs. I passed through customs only to be sent back into Canada after having crossed through security because the staff decided to close. We were told by other staff members that it was up to them to decide when they were done and to talk them. I ran through the whole airport with about 7 other people to make it. Why make us cross through security only to send us back? There was no one there to guide us on what to do. I had to go through the whole thing again the following day only to have my face cream taken away (it is technically cream, not a liquid) and then be detained. None of this happened AT ALL the day before. I'd give more details but it was a complete mess."

Also, my flight to Newark was nightmare because my flight from London to Toronto was delayed, and my connecting flight to Newark left without waiting for me and other passengers on the delayed plane. I think that's the most crazy thing because all us passengers paid for that flight and we had no choice but to wait the next day. We were accommodated with a hotel after waiting hours and hours but it was still very frustrating."

Yes size does matter. Look to JAP airlines for style and dignity in the job. Having said that I love Air Canada and fly it as often as possible home."

Then on my 7hr midday flight back to the states our plane had no screens at all for in flight entertainment. Security and Customs check process was ridiculously long. Waiting in line after line, and the automated kiosks processing passports were fickle delaying lines & leading to further follow up by staff. Very confusing and overheard several passengers talking about missing connecting flights. I highly recommend not flying Air Canada until they become more organized."

I think they should have started the snacks earlier as it was quite a big plane and it probably would take quite a long time to serve everyone and the worst part of it all was that I had asked for a can of pop, so I had to hold my can of pop, my glass pop and try to get my snack out of the package which was not easy at all."

The flight was then delayed over an hour before we were able to board. Once we boarded the flight, we were delayed again an additional hour. We finally took off and landed in Toronto to be delayed yet again before we could go to our gate. Once we go to our gate (close to 30 minutes after landing) the gate would not work and we were stuck on the plan an additional 30 minutes. What was supposed to be about a 9 hour flight turned into almost 12 hours of misery. I will never fly air canada again. The best part about air canada is how every canadian I talked to say "oh yeah, they are such a "terrible" or "shitty" airline."
