So we spent 12-13 hours without anything to watch or listen. The crew told us such Boeing 787 international flights in Hainan airline was used to run China domestic lines and the entertainment system was ruined by Chinese older passengers who do not know how to use it, but this sounds like a really stupid excuse for what happened, because there is no visible damage to any hardware of the entertainment system. I’m not suggesting taking Hainan airline until they fix this issue. By the way, on my return flight, my entertainment system works fine, but there is one person who sit in the front row had bad luck. Again, this is not occasional insident, it’s happening widely in this route."

Since most of the signs at the airport were not that understandable, it relieved us of stress. And, of course, it's nice to be picked up by limousine and driven to the airport! And flat beds, excellent food, caring flight attendants."

I had to run full speed to make it to the next flight, and the attendants on this flight were very terse announcing as we were landing "Do not ask us about your connections; we have no information. Do not ask us about your luggage; we have no information" With other airlines in the past, if I have had a flight delayed by an hour, the attendants have announced where I should be headed for my connection, or have called ahead to the connecting flight (if within the same airline" and asked them to wait for us. I didn't feel that AC did anything to help make up for the fact that my flights were so late. Almost ally other AC flights on this trip we're also delayed."

Was not fun sleeping at the airport. On top of that, I had paid to select my seat and it wasn't honored on the flight back. Somehow I was unassigned because of the flight change during departure but I was still charged."

I was stuck in the seat immediately in front of the stinky bathroom in a seat that didn't recline, had no hdmi charging port and was pretty much continuously crowded by bathroom-goers. In fact, so many bathroom goers grabbed the seat in front of me that they touched my movie screen about 7-8 times, causing the menu to pop up and interrupt the movie. Otherwise, the food was gross and one of the flight attendants was very grumpy."

The flight was so delayed, many of us missed our connecting flights and had to be issued later flights. I was originally booked to fly out the next day, which would NOT have worked out but was booked instead for 5 hours later. I stood downstairs for 2 hours trying to find my baggages, however, they never came where they were supposed to come out and I received 3 different answers on where they were. "They're at carousel 5," "you don't have to get them they will be checked to your final destination," no they're at carousel 3, so you can grab quickly and recheck upstairs." My bag wasn't at any of these places. I finally found a nice air Canada agent who took the time out of his day to actually go to the back and check on my bag to which he returned 10 minutes later with it. It was just "circling around back there" with nowhere to go. Had I not been persistent, my bag would not have made it to my final destination. I wish the story ended there but it does not. After a 5 hour wait, I sat at my gate which continued to say "American Airlines" I asked the gate if United Airlines flight was still leaving from there she just stated she "had no idea" frustrated, with no gate to go to with a flight leaving in 1 hour nobody seemed to know where our new flight was boarding. After 3 gate changes we were finally able to board our flight to D.C. I am sorely disappointment in both Air Canada and the YUL system. This would be my second time flying this way and both times I have had issues. It's too bad. I do not plan on doing so again."

They gave us a card to make it up to us but (wisely) don't tell you what it is for. It turned out to be for 10% off your next flight if you book it through their website within a year. Useless. On our return flight we were delayed on the tarmac for over an hour with no air conditioning, they originally said they were waiting for a signature but then said that there was something wrong with the engines that help us take off, then the cabin filled with a fuel smell, then they said they had brought the wrong item for the repair and we were waiting for the correct one. When we finally took off my husband's screen didn't work yet again and this was a 9 hour flight. The flight attendant said that some of the screens hadn't worked for a while ( probably cheaper to hand out useless discounts than to fix them.). We received another 10% off card, which we cannot combine or transfer, again useless. We missed our connection because of the delay, they booked us on another flight but because they didn't tell us that we had to pick up our luggage or where (it was on a different carousel than the rest of the luggage from our flight) and that we had to go through customs we (and many others) missed that flight too. We finally got a flight out the next morning and they put us up at a hotel. We both had to miss another day of work and it was quite an ordeal. My husband's screen worked for almost all of that last flight before it seized up. We didn't bother to report it that time since another 10% off coupon wasn't going to do us any good. Overall it is concerning that Air Canada doesn't seem to be maintaining their planes in optimal condition and that their idea of compensation involves them making even more money from me. Never again."

Cons: "No individual entertainment. One snarky light attendant. Little leg room. Terrible selection of films for all passengers. Have to get United app on ground--need this to be communicated better, on website, before boarding, and onboard."
Cons: "United is no longer customer friendly. Personnel on ground are like robots. They no longer recognize loyal customers as the core. Stewardess and stewards are not courteous. The steward was chewing while serving food. No more what high standards are about. Just to get through with the job. Sad."

Cons: "Most of the airline staff were unbelievably rude. They wouldn't let me 91 year old grandfather get up to stretch at ask during the flight. They also told me to stay out of the way and sit down during a medical emergency when I got up because they needed a doctor."

The movie froze every 10-15min even on their own big screen. Food was very disappointing even by airline food standard. I was not expecting it to be great food but hey at least provide some options with decent taste please? Comfort: Seats are tight and you will have very minimal space and an awkward position if the person in front of you recline the seat but you don't. Flight is old and seats are uncomfortable. Very little leg room"

Cons: "First the change fees. To reschedule for a week later would have cost over $800. I only paid $540 for the RT ticket! Second, my seat was broken and would not stay upright. Attendant simply told me to not lean back. Furthermore the audio in my wife's seat did not work; only produced static. Although we had these problems, and the plane was not full, the attendant did not offer a solution - like changing seats. Chinese airlines offer free second bag, and not cost changes. I will probably choose another carrier, even if it cost a bit more, for the extra flexibility and service"
