Outdated aircraft untrained crew .worse in flight experience I ever had .i will never ever fly again with air India .if you are thinking about booking with air India please don't. they will be named worst airlines in the world . I recently fly with air India from san francisco to delhi and back and I regret my decision .unfriendly crew and food quality is very poor they only served beverage one time in 16 hours flight. So learn from my mistake do not book with air India."

Cons: "Food was not good at all. Entertainment screen kept shutting off all the time. Crew booted a few times but kept shutting off. No Wi Fi on the plane. All major airlines have Wi Fi these days. It was surprising that Air India had no WiFi service while going as well as coming back to New York."

Cons: "We were forced to part with our hand luggage and had to check in.There are two security check points at Delhi airport. I had bitter experience with the first one where the CISF personnel misplaced my luggage which was put on the screening conveyor. When I complained of not finding my luggage, they tried to convince me that it must have been taken by my wife who had been screened before me and had left for boarding while I was still waiting to pass through the security. When I went to the entry side of the conveyor looking for my luggage, it miraculously found lying on the exit side of the conveyor.( after 10 minutes)"

When flying Air India, keep your expectations low, so if you receive poor service, you are not disappointed I flew Air India thinking some seats would be empty and I could sleep however the flight was full."

Cons: "The boarding from Heathrow to EWR was confusing-- the monitor said "Boarding" two hours before the flight, which caused a lot of confusion for passengers. The airline was boarding a certain class of passenger, but there were no announcements to inform other passengers that they weren't doing general boarding at the time. The touch screens on the back of the seats are annoying (especially on a 7-hour flight) to the passenger in front, as they can feel the constant tapping through the seat."

Cons: "I booked in my ticket in advance to have seats for my wife & my mom together as they were travelling with an infant. I also confirmed by calling Air India customer care. But once we went to take our boarding passes, we were surprised that customer care representative put different seats. I had repeatedly asked the guy who was charging for extra seat and he confirmed 17D & 17E, but it was 17 & 27. Whole purpose of paying more was defeated."

Pros: "Crew was very helpful in general. I did not have any issues, but the passenger in the seat next to me had quite a lot of issues, since it was the first time she was travelling. The crew was very helpful, and in my opinion, they did everything possible to make her comfortable."
Cons: "The luggage check in process was a mess. We were directed to a particular line to complete the check in. As we were standing in the line, 4 out 6 agents closed down and went elsewhere, leaving everyone in the line to check in with remaining 2 agents there. An old couple were there as well, who moved from one counter to the next, to the next, and they were then told to come back in the line! Two of us were traveling together, and presented our tickets together, but we were given seats far away. I requested them for adjacent seats and they said that none were available. I insisted and stayed at the counter, and immediately, the agent found 2 adjacent seats, going on to show that she did not even look for it the first time. The seats have poor cushion. I needed to use multiple pillows to provide cushion for sitting and for back support. The food was average. For some reason, they make the curry extremely spicy, as a result of which many of the passengers find it difficult to eat. The inconsistency of the entertainment unit in AI flights is well known. In many flights, in many rows, it does not work, immaterial of the number of times they reset it. Fortunately for us, this time, the unit was working fine in both our seats. That was not the case during our to-journey."

Cons: "Seats are worn and old, although comfortable. Passenger area was not clean. Entertainment system is two generations old. Slow and not enough choices. Food choices and quality of non-Indian food was bad. Wine is only Indian, which is best case a 6 on 10 quality. If the timing of the flight wasn't so convenient and the ticket wasn't cheaper than the competition, I wouldn't fly Air India. For a 25% cheaper fare (at least in Business Class), I can deal with poor quality."

Cons: "It was Boghi in Chennai on the day of my travel unfortunately and smog filled the air reducing visibility for all. The flight was originally scheduled for 9:30 AM and was, understandably, severely delayed even by the time I arrived at the airport. It would be ignorant of me to fault the airlines for abiding by safety regulations enforced by ATC. The execution of the plane transfer could have been far better. I strongly suggest that a procedure is written to reduce stress for all parties involved in such situations. It seemed quite unprofessional as there were passengers waiting, confused about what to do next as we weren't given clear instructions on how to transfer terminals, go through security checks, and acquire the appropriate boarding passes. While the air india employees were agile in their actions, they were visibly uncertain, which did not inspire confidence in us passengers. Once I had boarded the alternate flight, I was appreciative, but I strongly suggest that for everyone's sake a precedent is set."
