Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "The staff was positive, the plane had a movie to watch (although quite a dated system), but there was only drinks given so not much to write home about there."
Pros: "The staff was kind and courteous. Food was ok and they gave us snacks"
Cons: "The seats on the air rouge plane’s were tiny. I’m 5’2 and I was ok because my seat-mate was also small, but if you’re tall or wide, these flights will be uncomfortable. Note: this was an international flight(8hrs). Small seats and no in-flight movie. There was a flight delay due to weather (40 mins) on the way home. I get it. On the way to our destination there was a 4 hour delay due to a problem at the airport. Though frustrating, probably not air canada’s Fault."
Pros: "Staff were great but Air Canada Rouge does not have pods in business class. The food was mediocre at best and there were many technical difficulties with the in-Air entertainment. Also, no wifi? It’s 2018."
Cons: "iPads for entertainment.. had to download Air Canada on your personal device BUT they don’t give you access to real wifi? Basic food. Seats were nothing special."
Cons: "4 hours delay to YYZ from MSP, 2 hours delayed to MSP from YYZ."
Pros: "Many airlines have code share flights but it is better to buy ticket directly from the original airline as they keep on ignoring the code share flight bookings"
Cons: "Till last moment we were kept hanging if we will board or not as no seat number was allocated. I believe it was as we were from the code share airline not the real one"
Pros: "Boarding process"
Cons: "Cabin Crew did not provide water to hydrate the passengers but, one time on the flight from Toronto to San Francisco."
Pros: "Easy boarding."
Cons: "Video screen loose and no volume control, so Oud I couldn't watch. No food-na more applicable. Seats uncomfortable and tight."
Cons: "weather grounded non stop flight... required my finding a hotel for overnight... loss of MSP hotel, and two days rental car, too... costly and not reimbursable because "act of nature"... earliest way to MSP they said was via Nashville w/long layover... then connecting to Delta upon arrival in MSP, checked bag didn't arrive... it was filled w/medical equipment and AC couldn't tell us where it was... Delta bent over backwards to assist... AC was non-commital and not helpful at all... waited for incoming flights at the airport MSP for 8 hours... no bag... finally, Delta gave us vouchers for dinner and put us in a hotel... when it as really Air Canada's fault... etc, etc..."
Cons: "I did not make this flight. Instead was re-routed and spent 12 hours overnight in the Vancouver airport before getting to fly to Portland, without my luggage that was left behind in Toronto."
Pros: "I flew through Vancouver from Boston on my way to Brisbane, Australia and back. I was nervous at first because of the 2 hour connection windows. This might be a testament to Vancouver Airport more than Air Canada. The entertainment was ok. It had a decent variety to select from but i only ended up watch a few things and entertaining myself or sleeping. I paid to sit in an exit aisle as I only had middle seats to select from. It was worth paying for the freedom to stretch your legs and get up anytime without disrupting your row."
Cons: "The food was ok, I personally wish the drink cart came by more often so I didn't feel rude asking the air hostess each time. They were always very accommodating though."
Pros: "Flights attendants were very attentive and helpful on flight."
Cons: "Entertainment system was quite outdated and not user friendly, but it was nice to have it offered."
Pros: "The flight attendant was very nice and smiling."
Cons: "I did not fly to Montreal and I did not catch flight to Barcelona I am fling again tonight Toronto - Barcelona direct"
Pros: "that we landed safe"
Cons: "that the plane was delayed snd we were keept in side like sardines"
Cons: "Felt like a budget flight. We've flown air Canada in the past and this flight seemed like their low end fleet"
Cons: "I wish Air Canada sent check-in emails for flights in as well as out. I didn't get a reminder check-in email when I was flying out and that worried me a bit that there may be something wrong with my reservation. It also irritated me that because I had booked my flight through Kayak and not Air Canada directly I was not able to make any changes to the reservation online - I had to call their reservation phone number (from another country) and be put on hold for 20 minutes (so needless to say it was an expensive phone call)."
Pros: "Staff was really friendly, the flight attendant was even wearing a little witch hat for Halloween, which I really liked. Due to an underbooked flight, we had free choice of seat, because I originally was booked on an aisle seat, I could change to a window seat, that was nice. Since it was a small machine from Toronto to Minneapolis (a little more than 1,5h flight), there was no entertainment system, besides the nice view out of the window. And who likes to start a movie during such a short flight, to not be able to finish it? They also ask you to hand in your carry-on before you enter the plane, because there is not enough space for it inside, which I liked, no wiggeling along the aisle with a little trolley, I just fetched it outside the plane after we landed."
Cons: "Unfortunately, Air Canada didn't serve gluten-free snacks on any of my flights yet (I had good gluten free food though). This is not meant as a negative review, because as an allergic you're usually prepared. It's more a suggestion for gluten-free snacks, peanuts or m&m's work as well as most gummy bears or chocolates :)"
Pros: "they food I did purchase was pretty good."
Cons: "no snack at all, was all food for purchase. The inflight entertainment was nothing if you didn't have their Air Canada App."
Pros: "We got home but later then expected."
Cons: "Coming home late. Going thru customs took too long. No one to help with directions at Toronto Airport"
Pros: "- On time performance - Friendly crew - Comfortable flights"
Cons: "The gate facility at the Toronto airport was worse than a bus terminal. It was over-crowded and chaotic. Again, we boarded through the tarmac and not through a walkway."
Cons: "Though not in your control, we had a two hour late start. The gate area was crowded with too little seating. It was so far from the main airport area that refreshments were hard to get. The airline did give some snacks but nothing very substantial. Our 8:30 something flight didn't get off until after 10."
Cons: "The boarding gate for small aircraft is very far away from the terminal. There was not enough seating for all those waiting for flights"
Pros: "Efficient boarding."
Cons: "Strong stink coming from bathroom. We were seated toward he back (maybe 2-3 rows from the restroom and it was strong smelling at times."
Cons: "Flight from Montreal to Vancouver was long with uncomfortable seats no pillow and no meals."
Cons: "On the way back from Quebec City to Montreal we were asked to check our carry-ons as luggage, because "there is no room' on the plane. It was an empty flight. ALL overhead compartments were empty. Both flights - Quebec to Montreal and Montreal San Francisco were late. As the result, we have to spend 1.5 hours in the baggage claim area, because "there are no baggage agents in SFO available". THAT WAS THE WHOLE REASON WE ONLY HAD CARRY-ONS! By far, one of the worst flight experience in the last 10 year."
Cons: "It was cancelled."
Cons: "The flight attendants were overwhelmingly rude and unhelpful."
Cons: "Delayed baggage took 3 days to get to my home. Flight attendant had assured me that the bag (sports equipment) made the connection which it hadn't."
Pros: "Absolutely nothing"
Cons: "A 12 hour delay is not okay. The hotel comp was nice but they split my group of 5 into different hotels. The breakfast voucher did not work. The dinner voucher barely covered the cost at the designated restaurant. Customer service was extremely unaccomadating."
Pros: "Able to check carry on before boarding."
Cons: "The flight was delayed an hour and the lounge was not large enough to accommodate all of the passengers in Toronto."
Pros: "Flight attendant's were friendly amid the circumstances."
Cons: "Our first flight was cancelled 15 minutes before scheduled take-off. upon being bumped to another flight two hours later, that flight was delayed two hours after an issue during take-off. We remained on the plane while mechanic/engineering staff rectified the problem. We booked a flight to save time on driving. We would have arrived earlier had we drove. I understand things happen, but the airline eneds to take responsibility and show some good customer service. Aside from the pilot, no apology given, no reimbursement offered. Disappinting. Air Canada is now a last-resort option for a frequent flyer like myself."
Pros: "On time. Clean. Efficient"
Pros: "i was late and they still let me get on"
Cons: "All the small planes are cramped and noisy"
Cons: "Overly crowded in the are awaiting for flight. It was not organized well and you could tell staff was getting on edge from customers asking about boarding. The departure times should be spread out to avoid this."
Pros: "4 and a half hours of delay and only 10 dollars voucher to eat."
Cons: "The customer service"
Pros: "Nothing at all actually"
Cons: "Old tiny plane, delayed two hours because of what seemed like sheer stupidity. I mean we had to wait an extra 30 mins on top of the regular delay time because they loaded the bags wrong. I had already been traveling over 24 hours due to the time zone differences and this last flight was just intolerable. Certainly it could have been worse, but this was just terrible already."
Pros: "Food was actually pretty good and the staff did reasonably well even though most of the customers were clearly unhappy."
Cons: "A majority of flights run by Air Canada to the US were delayed. If this had been due to weather, fine, but at least our delay was caused by mechanical malfunction. Our flight was delayed for 5 hours due to multiple different mechanical issues including that the bathroom would not function during the entire flight, the wing flap had issues and the door would not seal correctly. The flight immediately preceding ours to Minneapolis was also delayed by over 4 hours. Surprisingly the flight before that also had a bathroom malfunction that prevented customers from using the bathroom. If this was the exception we could understand, but looking at the history of our flight, it's only on time 23% of the time. The poor customer service people must hate their lives. Something needs to change."
Pros: "Billy Bishop airport is awesome!"
Cons: "Flight was delayed and crew didn't accommodate a rebooking despite availability .. Although original flight did board soon after."
Pros: "Customer care hotline service over the phone was great! They took care of all my problems and was very nice."
Cons: "Customer service at the airport needs to improve tremendously!"
Pros: "Crew was nice and very helpful.. Nice selection of movies.."
Cons: "Food could be improved.. no flavor and it looked over cooked.. Drinking cups could be switched to paper cups.. or recycled one's.. Packaging and overall rubbish could also be reduced. 777 seats were to narrow.. bigger seats are a must for such long flights. Internet access could be free.. with a limit of course.."
Pros: "The ground staff were vl.ery helpfull"
Cons: "We had to sit on a bus and wait 30 minutes to be taken to a different gate. The seats aren't comfortable and like most the seating is cramped with little space. Flight attendant was rude after I refused to take an aisle seat from my window seat."
Pros: "It was short, thank goodness since our flight was delayed twice."
Cons: "The small claustrophobic feel of the plane. Every time the steward pushed the cart up,the aisle he bumped into me and was kind of rude."
Pros: "The crew was all wonderful, friendly and efficient."
Cons: "first flight cancelled, second flight delayed so impossible to get the connection. Nobody called me about it, I had to go to ask."
Pros: "Love Air Canada"
Pros: "Got me to minneapolis"
Cons: "Boarded via small rickety stairs. Flight delayed over an hour."
Pros: "There was no food or entertainment, so nothing to ratr"
Cons: "Left very late, bumpy ride and bathroom was broken."
