FAQs for booking Toronto to Istanbul Airport flights

  • Should I take public transportation from the airport into Istanbul?

Taking public transportation from the airport into Istanbul is a better option for passengers who are travelling light. Although it’s the cheaper option, each one-way ticket costing ₺ 2,5 (around C$ 0.59) per person, it takes more planning than getting on a taxi or arranging a shuttle with your hotel, and it's not the most comfortable or direct trip.

  • How do I catch the metro from the airport to Istanbul’s city centre?

Follow the signs that say "light rail" from outside the baggage claim area to line M1A (red line). The metro station is about a 10min walk away from the airport. The final stop for this line in the city centre is Yenikapı. One token costs ₺ 4 (about C$ 0.95) but you need to buy a new token every time you change lines or transfer to another form of public transportation. Please note that operating hours are from 6:00 am to 11:59 pm, so if your flight from Toronto to Istanbul arrives outside of these times, you’ll need to plan for another type of transportation.

  • Can I get a private shuttle from the airport to the city centre?

If you haven’t arranged for your hotel to pick you up at the airport, you can book a private shuttle with a company like KiwiTaxi for a fixed fee before you arrive in Istanbul. Prices vary depending on what district you’re travelling to, but the fixed fares start at ₺ 120 (about C$ 29) for a trip from the airport to the Sultanahmet district. You must book online, and the driver will meet you outside the arrivals area.

  • Should I exchange currency at one of the offices at the airport?

Currency exchange fees at Atatürk International Airport are higher than anywhere else in the city. If you don’t want to use the ATMs located at the arrivals area, and can’t wait until you get into Istanbul, the supermarket at the tunnel connecting to the metro station has better exchange rates.

  • What is the cheapest flight from Toronto to Istanbul Airport?

In the last 3 days, the lowest price for a flight from Toronto to Istanbul Airport was C$ 393 for a one-way ticket and C$ 883 for a round-trip.

  • Which airports will I be using when flying from Toronto to Istanbul Airport?

Flight was delayed for a hour from Warsaw, not sure why. When we landed in Chicago, plane was still on the runway for about half a hour. Took a while to get off.

Crew was excellent. Business class was poor on the short flight and mediocre at best on the international flight.

Very poor. Seats like economy class, food unbeatable, no charging, no entertainment, no WiFi, boarding by bus - no justification for calling and pricing this as business class

Boarding was delayed for an unknown reason for more than an hour. While the airplane was at the gate, the boarding time was moved by 10-20 minutes every 15 minutes. No entertainment on the plane.

The flight itself was pleasant and on time. Crew was very good. However, breakfast food was barely acceptable. Unfortunately this satisfies the recent industry standards. I asked for a sandwich with ham (another choice was cheese), but received a sandwich with roast beef.

Boarding could've been improved a bit, the rest is excellent.

Agents helping disable person doesnt know connections to Poland and after 9 agents helping and 2hours ,we made it to proper terminal. Polish Dreamliner its Polish nightmare liner with so narrow seats and no room under front seat for bag and feet,in economy class. To upgrade, to higher standart cost an arm and leg ,even there are empty seats No good experience overall

The crew and flight were amazing . However , my bag’s locker got broken and no refund provided . Everything else was amazing except this bad incident that ruined my experience

Checking in took very long for whatever reason. Flight comfort these days is always poor so… Crew was great thought!

The customer service rep on chat refused carrying golf set at no charge that is customary for LOT and others. I wanted yo carry just ONE club not even full set! Web check in was nightmare. Most horrible lounge at warsaw. To call it business class is a BIG exaggeration. Rude staff warsaw to nyc. Seats uncomfortable and not flat as is now customary. Bad content and entertainment system.

Boeing 777 is a bad choice for a such a long flight.

It was great! Great value for the price I paid. Great crew and great food in business class

Everything was so smooth. It could be just a better temperature in the plane; it was a little cold.

Turkish Airlines will be my first choice to fly in the future.

On the Boeing 777-300 aircraft there is no personalized climate control for passengers. Every time I've ever flown on this type of airplane I've been uncomfortably warm. For shorter flights (less than 5 hours) this isn't a big deal, but on longer flights where a nap is required to stay comfortable it turns into a nightmare. I love turkish airlines, but I really fo hope they upgrade their fleet. I've flown turkish air once on a newer model and had a fantastic time, so I think its the plane more than the airline.

This is my 2nd time with the Turkish airline. Would definitely recommend. In stability we connected to Indiago would not recommend, very cramped seating. No inflight entertainment..service was inferior.

Staff friendly. Business class but issue with flat bed. Incoming Turkish flight delayed. Made connection due to fast buggy but luggage did not make it. Confusion at Delhi airport

I wouldn't know what the flight was like. AI canceled my flight reservation!! There's no way to speak to an actual human to fix the issue! NEVER AGAIN! ALWAYS BOOK YOUR FLIGHT DIRECTLY WITH THE AIRLINE NEVER GO THROUGH KAYAK OR JUSTFLY.COM!!

I really enjoyed the food, only bad part on one of my flights my screen was a bit buggy but it wasn't a big deal it was one of their older planes so I understand that happens

Paying extra for premium seats was wasted. Turkish Airlines takes 2 seats for bassinet. The lady next to me had a baby with bassinet Bassinet was in front of my seat

Snacks were just placed and many people were hungry and unaware they were available. Ran out of water bottles. Attendants not available. Missed entire meal.

Very Bad experience with Swiss, they robbed me for additional baggage and misguided. The flight was delayed for 2hr 55 minutes, screens were not functional and food was also bad.

The free Wi-fi for Aeroplan members was a great touch. The time passed quickly. I found the seats seemed a little closer together than I remember. Not Air Canada's fault, but we were about 20 minutes late landing because the airport was too busy. We had to circle around for a while. The boarding and disembarking went very smoothly.

On board wifi or other entertainment. Landlines option was good but ran late to Pearson

Extremely turbulent landing. Crew was friendly and plane comfortable. Airport and US pre clearance was understaffed

More space on a sold out fight and food trays were dirty

The airplane is way too tight, you can hardly enter into your row to sit.. more like kids seats than adults.

My original flight was cancelled -- but I have to mention the excellent service I was given by the agent working at check-in who found me an earlier flight -- and helped me navigate security, ensured my baggage kept up with the quick check-in and boarding process -- and just generally made the re-booking process a breeze. Thank you! On flight was fine, but we unfortunately meant no in-flight service -- no water, or coffee (it was an early morning flight...), but the crew was pleasant and accommodating throughout.

No in flight entertainment on a 750 mile flight. Made you join their "program" to get it. It was free on my first leg of the flight from Cincinnati to Toronto. In addition, there was brief period of turbulence that prohibited the crew from serving refreshments. They used that short interruption as an excuse to never serve drinks at all. They had ample time to do so and chose not to. They went around serving half cups of water instead rather than have their carts in the aisle with drinks.

Wifi was great. Kind air crew and comfortable seating. Also liked the entertainment options.

Overall, it was basically good. No serious complaints on my end.

Online check-in 24 hours in advance something seems not so easy to check in to pick seats and to print a boarding pass

Boarding was efficient and quick, crew was very attentive, seats were comfortable.

horrible! after going through hell and back to get a flight home after my flights got cancelled I also had a delay of 2hrs stuck inside the plane because of some technological problem.

I got stuffed on both flights into terrible seats. Second flight the seat didn’t even recline and fit s tall person, that’s very uncomfortable.

Enjoyable flight, helpful crew everything was organized to accommodate passengers.

The food was very good and it came multiple times

We were never able to take this flight because our first flight from Austin to Dallas was cancelled.

Absolutely the worst airline. Can’t find anything positive to say. We were in business which is the same as most airlines coach

Last minute gate change. Didn’t put our TSA global on our trip even though we asked multiple times to confirm. Did not help with food when could not eat what was served.

There is no respect or customer service whatsoever in Egypt airline extremely poor customer service never fly again. Find ticket with adjective airline. It’s like throwing money in the trash.

The plane was falling apart. Screens didn't work. My chair didn't work. My tray didn't work. It makes me nervous about the maintenance of vital functions for flight. The food is horrible. We never eat it.

Our flight was delayed for more than three hours due to mechanical issues. Please compensate.

Made to check carryon and had more than 500 dollars stolen buy airline

flight was late, after landing they made us stay 30 min-hour on the plane, very uncomfortable and not clean at all. Trash all over the plane very unsanitary

Nice flight, friendly crew, and a decent in-flight meal.

Check in was madness. Boarding was madness. The flight itself was OK, and the flight attendants were nice. Connection to my next flight was two hours. But based on my arrival gate in Cairo, and next departure gate in Cairo, the whole two hours were needed given the inefficient procedures. At the end of my journey (connected to Lufthansa after Egyptair), my checked luggage did not arrive, and after 4 days, has still not arrived.

Everything was ok except cleanliness of the plane, it was poor.

It was appalling! Using small aircraft for 5 hour flights is ridiculous! No legroom, terrible food, no drinks apart from water, tea and coffee (once only) makes it a terrible experience. The cabin staff really badly handled the behaviour of an extremely obnoxious woman who insisted on fully reclining her seat for the duration of the flight with a very tall man behind her. She abused his and the staff and they were not able to deal with her at all other than to tell the man that they are reclining seats and they could not prevent her from doing so. They were also very slow to react when a large nu of passengers stood up and started taking their luggage out of the overhead bins whilst the aircraft was still taxiing at Heathrow. I will never fly Egypt Air again! I know this isn’t the airline’s fault but the security at Cairo airport was a joke. With the terrible security record on flights out of Egypt, they really need to take it seriously. Scanners weren’t working, liquids were allowed on, only one person operating the cray machine and searching bags caused a massive backlog of people…I’m convinced you could have got anything onto that plane if you were determined enough. By the way, it was the same story in Aswan airport.

The plane was old and several things were broken including my seat. The sinks in the restrooms didn’t drain. The armrest on my seat was broken so the seat was constantly reclined. The tray table was broken. The fabric was coming off the seats. The overhead bin doors wouldn’t stay locked. The hotel accommodation was disgusting.
