FAQs for booking Toronto to Istanbul flights

  • Should I take public transportation from the airport into Istanbul?

Taking public transportation from the airport into Istanbul is a better option for passengers who are travelling light. Although it’s the cheaper option, each one-way ticket costing ₺ 2,5 (around C$ 0.59) per person, it takes more planning than getting on a taxi or arranging a shuttle with your hotel, and it's not the most comfortable or direct trip.

  • How do I catch the metro from the airport to Istanbul’s city centre?

Follow the signs that say "light rail" from outside the baggage claim area to line M1A (red line). The metro station is about a 10min walk away from the airport. The final stop for this line in the city centre is Yenikapı. One token costs ₺ 4 (about C$ 0.95) but you need to buy a new token every time you change lines or transfer to another form of public transportation. Please note that operating hours are from 6:00 am to 11:59 pm, so if your flight from Toronto to Istanbul arrives outside of these times, you’ll need to plan for another type of transportation.

  • Can I get a private shuttle from the airport to the city centre?

Prices vary depending on what district you’re travelling to, but the fixed fares start at ₺ 120 (about C$ 29) for a trip from the airport to the Sultanahmet district. You must book online, and the driver will meet you outside the arrivals area.

  • Should I exchange currency at one of the offices at the airport?

Currency exchange fees at Atatürk International Airport are higher than anywhere else in the city. If you don’t want to use the ATMs located at the arrivals area, and can’t wait until you get into Istanbul, the supermarket at the tunnel connecting to the metro station has better exchange rates.

  • What is the cheapest flight from Toronto to Istanbul Airport?

In the last 3 days, the lowest price for a flight from Toronto to Istanbul Airport was C$ 519 for a one-way ticket and C$ 977 for a round-trip.

Smooth flight, excellent crew and good food. Not enough space; sitting are too small.

Flight was delayed for a hour from Warsaw, not sure why. When we landed in Chicago, plane was still on the runway for about half a hour. Took a while to get off.

Crew was excellent. Business class was poor on the short flight and mediocre at best on the international flight.

Very poor. Seats like economy class, food unbeatable, no charging, no entertainment, no WiFi, boarding by bus - no justification for calling and pricing this as business class

Boarding was delayed for an unknown reason for more than an hour. While the airplane was at the gate, the boarding time was moved by 10-20 minutes every 15 minutes. No entertainment on the plane.

The flight itself was pleasant and on time. Crew was very good. However, breakfast food was barely acceptable. Unfortunately this satisfies the recent industry standards. I asked for a sandwich with ham (another choice was cheese), but received a sandwich with roast beef.

Boarding could've been improved a bit, the rest is excellent.

Agents helping disable person doesnt know connections to Poland and after 9 agents helping and 2hours ,we made it to proper terminal. Polish Dreamliner its Polish nightmare liner with so narrow seats and no room under front seat for bag and feet,in economy class. To upgrade, to higher standart cost an arm and leg ,even there are empty seats No good experience overall

The crew and flight were amazing . However , my bag’s locker got broken and no refund provided . Everything else was amazing except this bad incident that ruined my experience

Checking in took very long for whatever reason. Flight comfort these days is always poor so… Crew was great thought!

flight was full and folks coming from Dubai all wear this strong perfume (OUD) which is annoying. Also, not sure why but these fools all stand up and get ready to bail once the plane stops. they seem to all run for the door which is funny AF. Plane was a 2 4 2 configuration and kind of an older plane with USB connection. Food wasn't that great either. Not sure i'd take this airline again since i have no plans on going to Istanbul again. Emirates is definitely better if you want to go from US to DXB,

I had ordered gluten free vegetarian but I got chicken instead. I wasn’t able to eat the meal. It’s hard not having food to eat when it’s an international flight. I don’t want to complain but when it’s a 14 hours flight. It would be nice to have something to eat.

Amazing service on board in business class. The lounges are also great. The inflight entertainment could do with a larger selection and the food choices more but overall, very pleased.

Horrible, hated every part of it. They do not have business class- just tried to make one row. Boarding was a mess- felt like hungry people fighting for food. Will never ever travel in Indigo

Overall it was good. Food was bad. I ordered gluten free vegetarian meal. But I got gluten free chicken for my long flight from Seattle to Istanbul. I don’t eat any kind of meat. Second meal I got eggplant with meat which I couldn’t eat. I don’t understand why we can’t get gluten free vegetarian meal for a 12 hour flight. I eat the bread and that was it.

So boarding is a little slow when you fly 787 but on the 777 the business class had its own entrance. The entertainment can be a little bit more up to date Other than that it was a great experience food and service was great

I paid $150 to upgrade to this seat. My exit row seat had ample leg room BUT the collapsable table was broken so my food tray and drinks slid over to my lap, the screen malfunctioned.

As a big guy the seats are way too small for me. Would prefer more comfortable seats on these long haul flights.

Very bad this airline changes my schedule date of travel and get me stranded in Istanbul for three days, paid for only one day hotel accommodation with only one breakfast and i had to pay for lunches ,and dinners and hotel accommodations for the two and half days

Bad confort, bad seat take advantage of the political conflict to double the price

It's kindof ridiculous that your system is even asking me about this since my flight was canceled and I wasn't rescheduled.

3 hr delay at the gate while they were doing maintenance. Next time, do not board passengers while maintenance is being performed

Digital check in is very poor with air canada compaired to other airlines

Flight was delayed 3 times. My luggage was sent to Saskatoon instead of Casablanca - airline got it sorted out in two days. Received $45 in meal vouchers to use in the airport.

Seats were so small. I’m 6ft and a good 20% of me hung out into the aisle and the flight attendants come dashing with the cart. On multiple occasions they hit me before saying mind your elbows and knees. I’m like, yes, but where do i put them. There isn’t a space that exists that i can fold into. The carts are so close to the seats when they pass through that i regularly felt water dripping on me as they poured drinks. Overall 3/10 experience. Highly unlikely to recommend

Baggage delayed we had to catch our cruise without any clothes 😒

Air Canada Rouge is great. Toronto Airport is the usual nightmare

On board WiFi is a bit flaky. Good for streaming music but getting Air Canada’s entertainment to play was hit and miss.

Would have preferred a better food menu. Other than that, no complaints.

Flight was excellent. The staff was a great comfort with the Captain meeting everyone on board The delay was unforeseen but an inconvenience.almost 3hours was too long to sit in the plane before the flight.

Decrepit planes, poor business class layout designed to maximize revenue, no decent movie selection.

Overall, it was basically good. No serious complaints on my end.

Online check-in 24 hours in advance something seems not so easy to check in to pick seats and to print a boarding pass

Boarding was efficient and quick, crew was very attentive, seats were comfortable.

horrible! after going through hell and back to get a flight home after my flights got cancelled I also had a delay of 2hrs stuck inside the plane because of some technological problem.

I got stuffed on both flights into terrible seats. Second flight the seat didn’t even recline and fit s tall person, that’s very uncomfortable.

Enjoyable flight, helpful crew everything was organized to accommodate passengers.

The food was very good and it came multiple times

We were never able to take this flight because our first flight from Austin to Dallas was cancelled.

Absolutely the worst airline. Can’t find anything positive to say. We were in business which is the same as most airlines coach

The flight was late 1 hr in amman with no ac

I lost my bad at Cairo’s airpor… it wasn’t shipped with me on the plane

Has upgraded from inside from leather sets to new version of touch screens ,,thank u

There is no respect or customer service whatsoever in Egypt airline extremely poor customer service never fly again. Find ticket with adjective airline. It’s like throwing money in the trash.

The plane was falling apart. Screens didn't work. My chair didn't work. My tray didn't work. It makes me nervous about the maintenance of vital functions for flight. The food is horrible. We never eat it.

Our flight was delayed for more than three hours due to mechanical issues. Please compensate.

Made to check carryon and had more than 500 dollars stolen buy airline

flight was late, after landing they made us stay 30 min-hour on the plane, very uncomfortable and not clean at all. Trash all over the plane very unsanitary

Nice flight, friendly crew, and a decent in-flight meal.

Check in was madness. Boarding was madness. The flight itself was OK, and the flight attendants were nice. Connection to my next flight was two hours. But based on my arrival gate in Cairo, and next departure gate in Cairo, the whole two hours were needed given the inefficient procedures. At the end of my journey (connected to Lufthansa after Egyptair), my checked luggage did not arrive, and after 4 days, has still not arrived.
