Top tips for finding cheap flights to Nova Scotia

  • Looking for a cheap flight? 25% of our users found tickets from Winnipeg to the following destinations at these prices or less: Halifax C$ 145 one-way - C$ 301 round-trip
  • Morning departure is around 9% cheaper than an evening flight, on average*.
  • Winnipeg and Nova Scotia are almost 3,500 kilometers apart, which makes driving from one to the other out of the question for most people. Flying from Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG) to Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) will be a much better option. Many airlines fly out of YWG in the direction of YHZ, including Air Canada, Lynx Air, Porter Airlines, and WestJet.
  • Because there is so much ground to cover between Winnipeg and Nova Scotia, you won’t be able to find any direct flights that operate between them. You’ll have to make at least one stop on the way, and certain airlines might force you to make two or even three stops while en route to Nova Scotia. Try to find an airline that only makes one stop with a short layover since it could help you get from Winnipeg to Nova Scotia in just eight or nine hours.
  • Some of the airlines that fly from Winnipeg to Nova Scotia, such as Lynx Air and Porter Airlines, won’t always have first-class tickets available. They’re budget-friendly airlines that don’t have different cabin classes on most flights. It might be worth looking into one of the other airlines, like Air Canada and WestJet, that can provide first-class or even business-class tickets that will help you remain comfortable while you’re on such long flights. Book an economy-class ticket through them and look for deals on first-class upgrades in the weeks leading up to your flight.
  • When flying from Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport to Halifax Stanfield International Airport, you might be tempted to check one or two bags. This will, however, cost a pretty penny through many airlines, as Air Canada, WestJet, and others will all charge you about $30 for your first checked bag and $50 or more for your second one. You can save money by only bringing a carry-on bag if you can.
  • Since you’ll be taking a domestic flight when flying from Winnipeg to Nova Scotia, you won’t have to arrive at the airport two or three hours early. But you should still try to get there on the earlier side to avoid missing your flight and having to figure out the logistics of rebooking it. Winnipeg Airport has lounges like the Plaza Premium Lounge you can use to relax at the airport as you wait.

It would be better if flight crew can clearly communicate in english. But they are kind and accommodating. Food is good, especially the sandwiches on the self-serving snack trays. They are better than the ones served. Boarding was organized.

They could have had more up to date movies/better choice of music.

Terrible experience will never fly Delta again. Delayed flight with total disorganization and inept crew who wouldn’t communicate.

The crew and my luggage was still pretty good after a long flight. They take good care of the luggage.

Really good! I like all the crew, they were so nice and very efficient.

The flight crews were extremely professional, helpful, and courteous. Departure and arrival times were accurate. No delay. I will use K airline again. Thanks

Not very comfortable seated in the back plane due to turbulence

Everything about Korean air is great, hands down! Will always prefer this airline from other carriers.

I enjoyed flying on Korean Air. The service was great and the food was yummy. They served white fish.

Ford not that great the seat not to big for leg room like other airline

Cathay flight was fine, Amsterdam airport was a nightmare, spent way too much time walking to our next connection, no travelators.

Not good. Small seats. Not enough food that customers wanted. No special requests were given that i could see. Slow response from flight attendants

For a transpacific flight, flying economy is awful! The seats are cramped and its meant for petite folks! Good luck if you have long legs. BOARDING - AWFUL, we got to Hong Kong - the gate was listed, but upon arrival, there was a MESS of boarding procedures, they basically DIY'ed how to board but making three lines and putting three ground crew to check for passports in the terminal area. THEN to make it worse, after going through that cattle process, all of a sudden you see people standing and looking confused, apparently we were told to get in line to board, but the AV notification wasnt even working. So people started cramming in line - worse than cattle. One saving point, the flight crew forgot to serve me dinner and after waiting for it, I fell asleep since this was a midnight flight. After letting a crew know that I was forgotten, all of my meals were served first !!! Yay for being in the economy seats! Nothing much to write home about once more!

Rarely saw a flight attendant. Never received what I wanted from drink service. Twice I was told they would return with my order. I never saw the flight attendant again. I has requested a Moslem meal. I did not receive. It

From BOS to HK, the crew had pushed me to choose the pasta for meal multiple times. It was a bad experience. Without this, everything was good.

It as great, my in flight entertainment was malfunctioning though.

Both my husband and I ordered the fish for dinner and we both got sick and throwing up on the plane. I don’t think the seafood was handled properly and I for sure will not order fish the next time around.

Dinner was served at the wrong time as soon as we boarded. Most were sleeping.. there was no food service carts for hours. We had to specifically ask for water, snacks etc. for the 15 hour plus flight, there should have been 3 meals served. Instead we only got the breakfast 1 hour before landing. Will try other airlines like Qatar for future travels.

The flight was delayed for half an hour, hope this can be better

Great experience, smooth checking, boarding and flight. Service during flight were great, crew members were very professional. Thank you!

Delays happen but communication and care were very low on what ended up being a long day.

they forgot to load our luggage onto the plane and we were without it for half of our trip to Paris. Didn’t seem to have much interest in getting it to us expeditiously.

Loved everything, especially during check in, very amazing people, they were so patient with me cos my bag was overweight. Loved their service. I’ll be using them again.

As per usual, lately, the flight was delayed. I can’t recall the last time a WestJet flight was on time.

Check in agent was good, stewardess was unfriendly and certainly did not have the care of the passengers in mind Spent the whole time on her phone

Average at best. Typical of WestJet these days. Crew far from friendly.

The flight attendants could have been mote professional, talking about other people's life choices loudly and rudely. Delay to board which seems more and more standard with westjet.

I like the leg room in the exit isle..easier to get past people and I did t have to pay extra! Westjet changed my return flight time to a night flight 2 weeks before I left and left me hanging with NO HELP to resolve all the frustration they caused since I booked thru BudgetAir. They receive the lowest of star ratings I can give (if there was negative stars I’d be using those) for customer support and an overall bad score for the rest of the experience! So sad cause they used to good :)

Not having a screaming baby in my row the whole trip would have improved the experience.

Better boarding process, but not the fault of the airline… people are dumb.

Both my flights from Calgary to Montreal were pleasant. I should also mention my gratitude to the two ladies at YYC who helped with my check in and went out of their way to assist me.

It got me from A to B in one piece and in good time. Back of seat tv didn't work. Snacks are a joke

The service was excellent from start to finish. However, it’s best not to order a gluten free meal because they combine it with dairy free, fat free, low sodium, and every other specialty diet variation that exists, and serve you boiled chicken and mashed potatoes for lunch. Yuk!

Older plane, business class was not up to par, entertainment screen small and dim and average food.

Fantastic how well crew especially at check in counter switched to English for our comfort.

I hadn’t noticed that I was on the budget carrier so I suppose it’s my fault. But that’s a long flight to have no entertainment and few food options,. Only one drink service offered during the entire flight.

Female flight attendant was SO wonderful. Funny and entertaining g and engaging. Great flight

really poor, the flight got cancelled first and then faced a delay. I ended up getting a middle seat which is a big no for me given I am claustrophobic.

I booked through Kayak for the first time. Unfortunately I was charged in US dollars. Only after booking did I see the tiny American flag on your website. There should have been a larger icon with a notice that I am in Kayak’s US site. I am Canadian, am flying in Canada and was disappointed that Kayak did not recognize this.

I liked the plane, a Boeing 787. Having to buy food on a domestic flight (although now common on other airlines too) is an irritant.

The flight crew did a good job, the main problem I had was in the layout of the pod itself. I know it does not matter but the connection for the head phones was not A- easy to find, B- very difficult to do based on the placement ( behind the right shoulder, very hard to reach, the type of plug on the frame vs the actual plug of the headphones), C due to the location and the way it connected, it did not allow me to use my own headphones, D- very low quality and very uncomfortable headphones, E- Surprisingly, very old selections of movies, for me, at least. I will still fly with Lufthansa as you deliver a very good product overall and I enjoy the quality of service, the ease and the prices. Thank you.

my flight was cancelled. next one scheduled 2 days later. no hotel provided. worst airline experience ever

The flight crew, the on-plane service, and the food were fine. The seats lacked cushioning and were uncomfortable compared to other planes from recent flights. The plane was initially delayed one hour and that expanded to 1.5 hours. When we boarded, there was insufficient room for our carry-on bags, which added more time to disembarking from the plane. It appeared the Air Canada staff or the Toronto Airport staff were less than competent to handle whatever the issue was that caused the delays, which was never communicated.

Crew had connection details for only 2 other flights and gave less than empathetic guidance.

Boarding was haphazard after people with small children or walking difficulties

Due to flights being delayed, we missed our connecting flights and we were flown to a different airlines and we end up losing our luggage's.

The boarding process is not well organized at all. It need to be totally revised with an emphasis on order.

full flight, could use more room....leg room fine seats tight

Tiny, cramped seats with minimum leg room and hard armrests. Basic needs like a seat and luggage came with an additional charge. Budget airline amenities with premium airlune cost. I won't use this airline again.

Seats were terribly uncomfortable! Couldn’t sleep! I paid for good seats when scheduled with Lufthansa, got crappy mid-section seats on Air Canada!
