Why would hertz say they would rent me a car and call me after the rental was reserved and tell me they didn’t have a car to rent me. They probably rented my reserved car to someone else for more money.Reviewed 9 May 2023

When I arrived to pickup I was advised that I could not use a debit card to prepay for the rental. The Hertz manager said that even thought it was prepaid with a Visa debit through Kayak, they could not honor the rental because I used a debit card instead of a credit card. She was able to make some adjustments and allow the rental with an additional $500 hold on my debit card for a $60 rental. She also informed me that if she had not been working, they would have denied the rental. I probably will not book through Kayak again based on this discrepancy.Reviewed 13 Apr. 2023

We prepaid this rental 5 weeks in advance. When we presented to the Hertz location for the scheduled pickup, HERTZ DID NOT have an available rental. They told us other renters were not returning cars on time and they could not honor the PREPAID contract. So we were left stranded. I saw two other renters behind me in line get the same story..Hertz will not get any of my future business. Terrible business model. Could HERTZ have called us the day before or morning of the rental and warned us? At least we could have attempted other options. EPIC FAIL HERTZReviewed 7 Apr. 2023

Had a horrible customer service experience at the counter (long 45 minute wait) and then had problem with booking. They offered little help or assistance at the local counter. National call center was also of no help or support -- very long wait times and poor customer service experience. The company texted me half an hour before my reservation time, which I had already pre-paid for, telling me that they did not have any cars available. They did not automatically offer to refund me and I had to call Hertz corporate to get a proper refund.Reviewed 22 Mar. 2023

terrible customer service on trying to adjust to a new pickup spot. KAYAK and Smart Fare did not help by advertising a car from a location different than the Louisville airport where I was searching. But once misled, trying to adjust thru Hertz was nightmarish. The online gave me no option to rebook to the airport location. Customer service told me my Confirmation # was wrong then hung up on me. Trying to email only allowed 7-8 question choices about what my problem was; none of which applied. Cancelled (for $100) and went elsewhere. I had a confirmed reservation for a rental car after my car broke down on a highway in Louisville. When i arrived to pick it up so I could drive hime to Indianapolis, I was told they had no cars. They could not get the satellite radio to work. They did refund the money but this is a frequent issue with frankly all of the car rental companies. They need to streamline this process.Reviewed 24 May 2022
