Pros: Obtaining vehicle at Newark NJ airport was excellent.
Cons: Went to drop off vehicle hours later in Long Island ISP and signage was poor and the sign said to return key to office. What office it was a parking lot connected to a private pay parking lot. They told us to go into the terminal where it says check baggage. We did and there was the Hertz counter. Pleas improve on your signage at ISP airport indicating "Return Key at Hertz Counter Located inside Terminal Check Baggage Doors. Brian T Lewis 164345 Cottage Nook Fenton MI 48430 810-629-8456

Easy pickup and drop off
Pros: Clean car, great mileage. Room for everyone. NYC area rentals are expensive, but this seemed like a good value.
Cons: Line to get to a Hertz rental agent. We were directed to the kiosk with an agent on a screen. The interface still needs some work. so does the hardware - it's flu season in New York and that phone was awfully sticky...

Pros: DELIVERY TO THE DEPARTURE TERMINAL SO THAT WE DID NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE EWR "SKY TRAIN" WITH OUR BAGGAGE.

Pros: Pick up and drop off was very easy. Andre and Brian made drop off simple and even gave us a ride to the terminal. Never had that happen before,

Ok. Tired of predatory an misleading practices, not exclusive to Hertz
Cons: In general, they were ok. But disgusted with advertising one price Ndw then all of the magical add ons. Pretty close to misleading. I thoroughly object to being charged $13 a day extra for a second driver who has an equally clean driving record. This is just bullshit and predatory behavior. Shameful.

Loved that I got a choice of cars!
Pros: Super nice people behind the desk and at drop off!
Cons: I always forget to ask about how to deal with tolls... but that's my bad, not theirs! :>)

Cons: Car was dirty inside and out. No instructions given on pickup such as features of car and how to use toll tag on it.

Waste of time
Cons: Your site highly recommended me to a jersey airport for the best price when Im located in nyc. I made it to the airport, paid for the rental car and its insurance online with my debit card which your website gladly accepted, and once it was time to pick up the keys I was told I wouldn't be able to do so because I didn't have a credit card. 0 flexibility was displayed at hetz for other options for not having a credit card, I wasn't allowed to pay what was required with cash or debit, nor was I allowed to use any preexisting car insurance. A warning at your website would've saved me a whole lot of time and oxygen. I still haven't heard anything about the refund for the insurance that I paid for, nor has my money for the rental made it back to my bank account yet.

Pros: Car was in super condition and clean. Drop off was smooth as silk!
Cons: Pick up - the lines were too long and there weren't enough attendants. Wifi did not work at the pick up location. Also, although they advertised Sirius Radio and wifi hotspot in the car, neither of these worked. They also did not offer us the EZ Pass options and it resulted in long lines at toll booths.

Cons: they hide costs about the insurance. the e Zpass dosent working all the time and i mus tto pay now penalties....as i can uderstand from the people to who working to pay tolls it is something that happpen often....

Pros: good car, smooth, fast return
Cons: when I got the car the person dealing with me lied by claiming there was absolutely no liability insurance without the supplement, and so if I had an accident I would be totally on my own and bankrupt!

The reservation didn't work!!!!
Cons: we were unable to use our reservation due to a credit card issue. HOWEVER we had called up and checked the details before and were told the wrong information and there was no way to change things!

Pros: Pickup and dropoff was easy. But we would have preferred to receive more instructions about the car since we are from a foreign country and we are not used to drive automatic car. The car was clean enough.
Cons: Insurance policy was not clear at the time of booking!! We bought an insurance in advance when we booked the car, but then we discovered that that insurance covers only our car and not the car or people involved in case of accident. So we had to add an additional insurance. And also there's an additional charge for the EZ-pass, almost 5 dollars per day even for those day you don't use it...that's too much and not fair! In the end, we paid more than 100$ per day for a mid-size...too much!!!

Great service, easy
Pros: It was a wonderful experience. I was skeptical because I was talking to a person on a machine while renting the car...but it ended up being simple and all good. They let you choose from cars in a certain level, which was fun. Thanks!

Poor Customer Service
Cons: Picked my car up from Newark Airport. Next morning after driving to my destination noticed the hood looked like it was slightly ajar. Went to the Hertz in Vineland, NJ. Poor customer service and was told to drive the car to either Philadelphia, 2 hr drive back to Newark airport or an hour to Atlantic City. This was after the employee told me it looks as if the hood latch is broken. I do not drive a car on a normal basis as I live in the city and am not knowledgeable about cars enough to have noticed. It was also not called out by anyone once I left the airport at Newark. Ended up having to drive to Atlantic City. Even though after being on the phone with Road Side Assistance and they were told there was a car available, when arrived they said they had no cars. Ended up with a Red Accent that was dented. The lack of customer service from Hertz was surprising. Still have not received a return call from Newark Airport location.

Awful service. Had car issues and no one offered to help or apologize
Cons: Thank you very much. Ok so I will try to make a long story short. On this past Thursday we rented a hertz car from Newark and was staying in New City NY at my sisters. Yesterday am around 5:30 am we were driving to Thompson PA where my 11 yr old daughter is at camp. It was visiting day and all parents have to be ther no later than 9:30 (or else will have crying child) so we drove and about 30 min in we starting have oil sign light up. We called hertz roadside and they said should be OK keep driving. Another 10 min got another warning light so they said return car to Newark ( we were no where near Newark and didn't have the time) so they found Stewart airport at new windsor NY and said we shouldn't have issue exchanging car. ( gave a ref # too) got to Stewart dropped car off and found out Hertz desk person doesn't come in till 9 am. I didn't have leisure to wait so I dropped car key in box and had to rent another car with Avis ( they were there ). So not only out of $ with hertz but now had to pay Avis for another 3 days. Barely made it to the camp on time ( with 2 min to spare) and now I called Newark 4 x no answer. I called manager on duty his # out of service and everyone I speak to can't help me or even apologize for my situation. My CC company Has put all charges on hold until this is resolved

Bait and Switch
Pros: For a few brief moments, I thought that I was going to be driving a nice car.
Cons: Their CSR told me that the only cars they had available were luxury cars, (which it turned out was not true), so I paid for the luxury upgrade. Then after getting in the car, the manager runs out and says the CSR was mistaken, and that I can't take a luxury car because I was going on a one-way trip. After waiting 30 minutes, they provide us with a full-size sedan. (For 3 large men and luggage). That sedan proceeds to get a flat tire, which we then have to trade in for a sub-compact. For 3 large men and luggage.

Customer service was excellent
Pros: In the midst of the snow storm hitting and what was obviously a very long day, the service reps (especially Diane?...whoever was at the Newark desk) gave amazing and prompt service.

Please update your Newark Airport dropoff location
Pros: The people who work there are outstanding. I don't know how you do it. Everyone seems to truly care if you are happy. You're an honest company...I showed them all the "dings" on the car near the trunk before I left (I've had awful experiences with cars from other rental agencies) and the man said that the area was "normal wear and tear" Realistic. I love that your EZ pass for the tolls is only $5 extra a day, and all cars have them. Again, other agencies charge way more and often don't even have them. I am not normally "brand loyal, " but I am to Hertz. Just make the changes with your "never lost" to the airport, and you'll be golden!
Cons: You need to change the drop off location in your map section! It took me to the hertz counter in the main airport, not the area for drop off. I looped around a few times, thinking I made a mistake with my driving. set me back 25 minutes. Total bummer. The price was higher than I would have liked. I had to rush back to take care of my mother - maybe it was because it was a last minute booking?

Poor staffing levels not adequate for volume of cu
Pros: Video Kiosk option didn't work and after waiting for counter to fullfik registration ended up leaving with out a car because they couldn't read credit card

Cons: I called Hertz to make sure that this reservation was refundable, and they assured me it was. When I tried to cancel it, they said there was a $50 cancellation fee. NOT COOL. Will not use Hertz again

Pros: Drop off was quick
Cons: I spent more than an hour in line to pick up my car. Only a few people working, and several people in line. The following day, my tire was flat. They told me to go exchange the car after roadside assistance came to put the spare on. The nearest exchange place was an hour away, so for the sake of time, I had the tire fixed at a local tire shop and decided to suck up the cost. Unfortunately the tire went flat again the following day, so I had roadside assistance change the tire and I went to exchange the car. It was 2 1/2 hours of my time--late for a business dinner--oh well. The initial car ran hard (I was driving a compact ford) and was very uncomfortable. It only had 34k miles on it, but it ran like a much older car. The new car was much better and more comfortable. But as I was driving again (in the middle of nowhere) I found that that car's tire had a slow air leak.

Poor Service at EWR Pickup
Pros: Dropoff was smooth.
Cons: Very poor customer service at the counter and kiosk at Newark. Poor service prolonged the paperwork, and the price and billing were not correct. The car was fine, and dropoff was okay. Didn't get the value for my money I expected via Kayak

Simply bad miscommunication as well we bad informa
Cons: I waited in line at 3AM for 40 minutes, because they are short staffed. they put me over the phone with a live representative. She was not very helpful at all and asked that I have to wait 30 minutes to get my car. Meanwhile, the counter person was helpful enough, but then told me that they cannot accept debit cards!!?! Asked me to come back at 6PM to pick up the vehicle. He told me if I can't do that, go ahead and go to the next stop and get it from someone else, because no one at this terminal would take debit. Also he claimed that I can call hertz and get the pre-paid refund, which later I found out is not true. Nonetheless, after an hour30 minutes, I left with no car, no reservation, in the middle of the airport. So I walked over to Alamo, and they basically rented me the same car with the same price and took my debt.

More explicit information when a car only seats 2
Cons: When I arrived, I was told I booked a car that only seated 2 people. I can't imagine making that oversight when I was intentionally booking a car suitable for 4 people traveling with me. The other person in my party booked the same and had the same incident. I don't know if it was Hertz doing a bait and switch or if the process on Kayak was not transparent, but I hope there can be more clarity upfront so we don't feel foolish or taken advantage of. I've booked with Hertz many times before and this was the first time this occurred, and I wouldn't note it if it hadn't happened to both groups who made a Kayak reservation.

Pros: Ease of pickup
Cons: I have gold status. I entered my number, hit the icon for getting a discount and the quoted price more than doubled!! Started over and reserved at the price obtained on Kayak. Then I don't get credit for the rental. Pretty unique way to treat a customer.
