Bad 1st impressionCons:I showed up at the Reno airport Hertz rental desk to pick up my pre-booked car. My birthday was the day before my pickup and I didn’t realize my license expired, which the lady at the front counter informed me of. I asked if there was any way they could work with me as it was MLK day and the DMV would certainly be closed. She informs me that I can renew online and show them proof. I renew my license online and show her my renewal confirmation on my iPhone. She asks me to print it out at hotel a decent walk from the airport. She’s making the process more complicated. I end up asking another rental car place to print it out for me and they were gracious enough to help me out and print the confirmation. So i go back to the Hertz counter with my renewal paper in-hand but the lady still refuses to let me rent the car after all the hoops she made me jump through. I ended up asking Enterprise if they can help me out (given my unique situation) and they were more than happy to oblige, they even wished me a happy birthday. All-in-all, I was in a desperate situation and they knowingly didn’t help me out one bit. They wasted an hour of my time When they could have just told me ‘no’ from the beginning. I’m not planning on renting from Hertz ever again.Reviewed 19 Jan. 2018

Pros:Nobody told me I needed a credit card to pick up my car with the rental agency, so I laid for my rental but never got to take the car because I didn’t bring a credit card with meReviewed 15 Dec. 2020

Rental place was closed when I arrived.Pros:nothingCons:I arrived at the airport and went to the Hertz rental area and they told me that I had actually rented from a place about a mile away from the airport and that they were closed and wouldn't be open until noon the next day. The lady said she gets this all the time and that they would actually do this intentionally. Since I was staying an hour away from the airport, I had to abandon my reservation and book a last minute rental. Hertz only had large SUVs for over $200 a day so we went elsewhere. Alamo ended up being extremely helpful and accomidating.Reviewed 26 Jun. 2017

Reps probably shouldn't give too much "advice"Pros:Although the representatives we spoke to steered us completely wrong on which car to rent in snow, the rep could tell I was frustrated and upset and provided us with a new Infinity which was a nice ride for the weekend.Cons:We called twice to confirm with 2 representatives that ALL tires were safe driving in snow and both reps confirmed that they were "weather proof" tires and not recommended to put chains on them. Because of that we chose to go with a smaller car instead of the SUV which would save us $70. But when we got there the front desk said she strongly advised the SUV in the snow which ended up costing us an additional $80 on top of the $70 we didn't end up saving at all. It would have been nice of Hertz to honor the original $150 rate since clearly their reps have very conflicting information.Reviewed 20 Feb. 2017

Cons:You did not notify me that the insurance didn’t go through so I had no coverage and had to use my own personal I stand it was a business trip. That’s not acceptable.Reviewed 18 Nov. 2020

Feel a little dupedPros:Not muchCons:The pick up location, the condition of the vehicle, the staff as we had to deal with a snowstorm and our flight was delayed, couldn't get a clear answer on what it would cost or how, because the location was offsite of the airport, they close at 12 on Saturday, so when we dropped it off at 1, they wanted an extra two days or the airport would charge and extra two days plus the day for the other site... It was pretty much a clown act from the start. Tried to save a little money but after the uber rides and extra fees. Total waste of time and money.Reviewed 9 Apr. 2017

Cons:Then the guy at the Reno drop off asked was this scuff on the rear bumper there when up picked up the car? I said really? I picked up the car the day before and drove 7 hours and parked it in my drive way with no other vehicles anywhere and then drove it to the drop off the very next day...we didn't even use the back where luggage would go and poosibly scuff the bumper? Scuffs they were all over the rear where people drag their luggage across the top of the back bumper. For almost $400.00 for a one dau rental you would think they would just say eveything looks fine....because I basically MADE A MONTHS car payment for them on that one?Reviewed 18 Jan. 2017

Pros:It was $345 all-in for a 9 day rental. Good value.Cons:The Vassar Street Hertz location looks like it's on-site at the Reno Airport when you Google map it. It is not. And there is no shuttle to take you there. Drop off is a big question mark. I dropped my keys in the dropbox, but the box says I needed to fill out a rental form including mileage then put my keys inside an envelope. There are no pens, forms or envelopes anywhere. I just dropped the keys in the box, hoping I won't get charged a penalty. Then I walked over a mile to the airport with luggage.Reviewed 27 Sep. 2020

Poor serviceCons:First, when we made the reservation we were told there was no hertz rental desk at the reno airport and the closest one was "just around the corner" so we walked...2 miles from the airport with all our luggage because they didnt provide pick up from the airport either. Once we finally got to th e location...even though we had a reservation we waited for over an hour to get a car because they were "out of vehicles". Then when we were finally given a car we were told it was one that was waiting for repairs but they rented it to us anyways. All of this on top of the fact that we had an extremely difficult time changing our reservation into our other drivers name because we do not have credit cards...just made for an overall unsatisfactory experience with Hertz.Reviewed 13 May 2017

Cons:the outrageous price of gas for forgetting to fill it up, $$$ 9.99 gallon?!?! gimme a break this isn't Europe and thats not a liter. Hertz won't be on my radar in the future, the price is abusive, rude, and borderline scam. You should be ashamed, but I know you (corp exec.) will never read this. Customer service rep, you're ok, don't be sad. Also, the car stunk, had stains all over (coffee or pooh, note sure) and the car should be retired, I think you have extracted enough value from it.Reviewed 22 Feb. 2017

POOR COMMUNICATIONS!!!!Cons:There are three Hertz pickup places in Reno. I called several times before leaving and was told that I could pick up my rental about 200' from where we arrived on Amtrak in Harrahs. I went in gave the apparently new lady my confirmation #. She checked and my car was not there and there were no cars available at that location. After about 20 minutes she located our car about 5 miles away. I asked how we were to get there with our bags. After another 20 minutes she told us to go stand on the curb and someone would show up. When the Hertz shuttle showed up the driver was VERY helpful. When I got to the right place, another seemingly new employee said I had to wait for the car to be serviced and that it would arrive with a 1/4 full gas tank. I said , NO WAY! And the car finally was available with a full tank. I had made this reservation way ahead of time and have never had such poor service from Hertz!Reviewed 19 Sep. 2017
