Chrysler Town and County rentalPros:Great gas mileage. The seats were very comfortable. Plenty of room. Nice vehicle if it were New!!Cons:The windows were really dirty inside, the left rear sliding door had been damaged before we had the vehicle and there was no lock on it. There was even old tape on the outside where someone had taped the door shut. The door wouldn't lock at all, so every time we stopped for more than a few hours we had to take everything out. The the van came with a Hertz gps built in that locked up more than half the time , getting stuck on the same spot until it reset it's self. The the power switch on the gps didn't work either!!Reviewed 6 Mar. 2017

Pros:Car was in clean condition overall.Cons:The inside of the car smelled like someone had recently tried to cover up the smell of cigarette smoke, but that’s only a small complaint. The main issue is that Hertz is slowing customers to book one-way cars with drop-off locations That have been shut down. When I arrived at my drop off location on time after 7 hours of driving, I found out that the location has been closed for several weeks and it’s not possible to leave the car there. I then had to sit on hold with poor customer service for 2 hours when they finally told me to call back tomorrow morning so they can then tell me where to leave the car...it’s yet to be seen if I’ll be charged extra for all of this. Pros:Staff at pick up was easy and very friendly.Cons:The drop off on the locations off day could be better. The key drop off was a slot in the door with no cover and I could see all other keys dropped off. Anyone could have used a hanger or long item to grab any set of keys to take a return rental. Need to make it so you can’t see in with a sleeve not letting anything to be removed once put in.Reviewed 13 Sep. 2020

Why are you like this Rochester?!?Pros:First off why does kayak have so many hidden fees when I got to pick up my car at the airport there was a huge tax that I wasn’t prepared for. Also they put in a link for a car insurance that isn’t great and you can’t get rid of want to sign up for. Once I got to the hertz rental Rochester had a huge tax for picking up the car that was never mentioned in the kayak receipt for the car and they were completely pushy about the insurance even though I told them that I had individual insurance . They were incompetent and I got a car without cruise control. What car doesn’t come with cruise control standard? When I go to Chicago the staff were friendly and confident they couldn’t believe that the Hertz Rochester give me a car without cruise control and up sold the insurance which was unnecessary. I most likely will never use kayak again at least with other competitors I get an honest price at the beginning and I don’t get sold insurance that I don’t need or wantCons:I really didn’t like the fact they were hidden fees through kayak. I also don’t like the fact that I was sold insurance on kayak without being told that I also would be advised to get the insurance through the rental company. Worst everPros:Nothing, customer service was even the worst I ever dealt with!!Cons:I called 3 days before my pick up date because I rented the car till Sunday at they were closed so I needed to find out where to take car. The girl on phone said it don't matter because we don't take debit cards and that's what you gave us. I said you took my money within 20 minutes over a month ago. She said read the fine print we would have told you when you got here. I said so what now. She said pay cash or credit card and we run credit check and a $200 deposit. Which at the time I did not know but they did same to my son and never returned his deposit. (Nothing wrong with car they said fees from cost because he was quailed wrong price). So I never got a car ended up driving my own which I did not want to the miles on. They told me 14 days for refund. I will NEVER rent through hertz, I will pay more first.Reviewed 31 Jul. 2017

Horrible Customer ServiceCons:Upon picking up the intermediate car I reserved, my husband was told by a caucasian male that the airport that the ford mini care was the one we reserved.... I think it was a ford fiesta or something. I have my rental receipt with exact name. When I called to speak to an agent at ROC airport, Carlos told me that I got the car I paid for, the airport does not rent intermediate cars, and he would in no way help me with getting another car. At that time I called the Hertz company. I was informed I would have to put off my travels, and change to the intermediate car the next day. After picking up the correct vehicle, I proceeded to calling Hertz to put a complaint against the ROC airport,, and ask for credit for the day of travel I missed. I was passed around to about 15 to 20 people (I have all of their names and dates and times called). One was more rude than the other. I was told Hertz does not have a complaints department. I asked them to please credit me for the day of travel I missed, or to add a day on to my rental at no cost due to the horrible experience at ROC airport causing me to leave a day late. At that time, the agent agreed to extend my rental one more day, and immediately charged my card. I was totally disgusted at this point. I spent hours on the phone, No at Hertz has any respect for their customers. When I returned my car, I saw 2 people at the counter. I waited almost an our with 5 people ahead of me. One gentleman was rented a car, he was sent to go get his car by himself, and couldn't find it. When he returned, the woman at the counter couldn't be bothered. He told her there was no one outside to help him, and the lady couldn't be bothered. She told him to just go look for the car on his agreement. The man walked away in disbelief. I ended up speaking to an african american gentleman that was very helpful. He called his manager after he apologized for his colleagues behavior, and had his manager (I think her name is Sam) give me a free day of rental for my inconvenience. It was very nice of her, but I am still very disgusted and bothered by this lack of respect for Hertz customers. This location is understaffed,and has very bad customer service. I deserve more than just the day of travel I missed for the horrible treatment I received. Pros:The staff was okay.Cons:The vehicle was very dirty - dog hair, grass, and crumbs all over. It also didn’t look as if the tank was completely full. I didn’t see the condition of the car in the dark parking garage. When I got home to pack the car - in a big hurry to get on the road - I saw the state of the vehicle. I didn’t have time to clean it before packing it to leave. It was really disappointing. I took pictures of the interior and exterior (dry bugs all over windshield) - and also a picture of the gas level. I busy moving my daughter out of state and haven’t had time to contact Hertz yet. Will likely not use Hertz again in the future.Reviewed 1 May 2021
