Pros:staff was very friendlyCons:everything was great but did not receive a truck with a full tank. the dial gauge on the dashboard showed the nail as full but the digital fuel gauge showed fewer miles than how I returned it. I explained this to the rental agent but he just blew me off.Reviewed 31 Aug. 2020

Pros:My rental car was dead at noon June 15, 2021 on our way from San Diego to Yosemite National Park. We contacted National roadside assistance and they couldn't do anything to help. We had to be in the middle of nowhere under the heat of 100F. After 7 hours stranded, the tow truck came at 7:30 pm to tow the car and left our luggage on the street. The taxi came at 7:45pm to take us to the rental car office, but the office was closed at 5:00pm. Taxi only offered to take us to the nearby hotel and it had to be under our own expense. I couldn't stay at the nearby hotel because I already sent my under age children to the campsite close to the Yosemite National Park with a group of friends when the car broke down. I had to pay my friend to come back from campsite to car broke down location to pick us up and took us to the campsite while the Taxi denied to take us because it was too far. We had to spend $200 to cover that pick up. The road side assistance had confirmed that their agent at the airport close to the Yosemite NP had a reserve replacement car for us, but when we came to pick up the car. They had no car available; We had to call RSA and stayed on the phone with them hours and hours, I was stranded at the airport from 9:00 am to 3:45 pm on June 16, 2021 talked to a whole bunch of different people to end up with the smaller SUV that didn’t have enough room for everybody in my family and the luggage. Half of my family had to split with other cars within our group of friends. The rental car has ruined my family vacation. We had lost 2 vacation days. Instead of enjoying nature, we have been stranded on the road or the rental car office. We had lost our park’s fee and the campsite’s fee for nothing; the stress of dealing with the Roadside assistant customer service that won’t be able to help much drove us crazy. On the top of those issues, I have been charged almost $54 for the gas on the Buick Enclave and they didn’t give me the credit for the gas left on the Infiniti QX80 when the car was dead and it still had more than ½ tank of gas. With all of those issues National only give me credit of $199. I was so frustrated with National. I will never rent from National or deal with Kayak again. The worst customer service that I have ever deal with.Reviewed 3 Jul. 2021

Cons:We picked out our car, installed a car seat and packed it up. We were then told that National was going to sell the car so we needed to pick out a different one. Not what we wanted to hear after a long day of travel.Reviewed 20 Mar. 2018

More guidance would have been nicePros:Nice car. Worked well. Pick up and drop off were mostly smoothCons:I payed for a Sante Fe but got a Tuscon because I didn't immediately notice the difference. It worked out fine, but the Sante Fe is superior from what I learned.Reviewed 30 Mar. 2018

Pros:I've used National's Emerald Isle for years. The available cars is always a good selection. At the end of the rental, I can expect that the final charge will be what was originally agreed.Cons:Fees and taxes are too numerous and too high. My daily rate of $32 turns into a final daily rate of $50 with added fees for: airport concession, rental facility, tourism commission, port of san diego, vehicle license recovery, and sales tax. Ack.Reviewed 9 Feb. 2019
