Pros:
I liked that I ultimately was given a much better vehicle than they originally wanted to rent to me. That made up for the experience and made the drive more comfortable and enjoyable.Cons:
Confusing check-in process on-site--pick up location was inside a parking garage that had lots of construction happening and, thus, was not the easiest to navigate when arriving in another (personal) vehicle. Also, I rented from Alamo and wen to stand at that Kiosk but the service agent snipped at me when I didn't understand that she was telling me to come wait in her Enterprise line. These are miniscule to the fact that they tried to give me an SUV that looked like it had been in an accident - it had a noticeable misalignment on the front bumper but, what 'takes the cake' is that, inside the vehicle, the entire interior ceiling was detaching from the vehicle/frame, including the electrical column on the ceiling that had exposed wiring for the overhead lights and such. The SUV also looked visibly dated. It was so bizarre. The clerk was going to rent me the vehicle having noted the misalignment but I am so glad I pointed out the stuff she missed on the inside because no one should be driving that SUV! After this point, her demeanor changed and not only was she nicer but she got me out of there quick. So, the SUV I ended up getting was much nicer but, as they were originally just backing this one into a stall from the 'returns' area, the replacement SUV was very clearly just returned and had not been cleaned, sanitized (these are COVID-19 times), or thoroughly checked, once the rental was in my hands my S.O. and I pulled over to the side, cleaned and sanitized the entire thing (can't be too careful nowadays). Anyway, it pays to pay attention and look the car over yourself both with the agent there as well as before you drive away.10.0 Wonderful

Didn’t have my car ready for pick-up, and I pre-paid for gas and Alamo still charged me as if I didn’t. Still dealing with them over this. Also, 1 congress st in Boston is EXTREMELY hard to pick-up from and drop-off. Added at least an additional 15 min on both pick-up and drop-off d/t construction in the parking garage. Definitely was not a smooth process and I was over an hour late bc of the above issues. Will not be using them again7.2 Good

When I dropped off my car the office was unexpectedly closed for the weekend. I called customer support to determine the process for dropoff - they told me to leave the car and drop the keys in the dropbox. But then I was billed for an extra day - even though I returned the car before the 4:00 p.m. time it was due. I had to call customer support to get the additional charges credited. What could have been better? Well for starters, the car I reserved could have been available when I arrived so that I wouldn't be forced to take a van. Originally I was told my car would arrive in 10 minutes so I waited 30 minutes before asking for an update, and then was told my car wouldn't arrive for another 1.5 hours. I had no confidence that if I didn't take the van, then I would sit in the parking garage all day.6.8 Okay

No thanks to me I waited till the last minute to rent a car for our trip to Salem during the Halloween festivities so there weren't any on site(airport) cars available and the daily price was around $93 per day for a Ford escort nearly thirty minutes away! Thankfully,the friendly staff at Budget was able to save the day with a reduced price and an upgrade to a Mustang! Thanks Budget!Cons:

I was lucky to arrive at the car rental a few minutes before it opened, because a line formed behind me quickly and the agent said they had oversold for the day and wouldn't be able to fill all their orders. The car I was given had something wrong with it. It shuddered when it accelerated and had trouble getting up to speed. It made it through the weekend, but it was hard to drive and uncomfortable, especially on the mountain roads. When I mentioned it at drop off, they just said, yeah someday they'll fix that.2.0 Poor

The store was unable to tale a credit card, that was used to purchase the actual car insurance on rental. Basically the insurance was taken before I could get rental. When I arrived to office, agent was not helpful. Did not cancel my reservation, when I couldn't get rental. OT was for my wedding. Had to take cabs everywhere.10.0 Wonderful

The location of this Budget is not great. It's smack in the middle of Downtown Boston which makes it hard to get in and out of during high traffic times. Additionally, I took an L because there were no nearby gas stations. I should've filled it up before getting close by but I assumed there'd be something and there wasn't. Lastly, there's no easy way out or into the garage. I had to drop the car off and then walk up the ramp where the cars drive down... not much you can do to fix that but damn. We changed the drop off to the airport, and the people at Budget made that happen easily, and cost-effectively. HOWEVER, the people at budget (on the phone) were entirely unable to provide e-mail confirmation that the change was made. It would be much better ifm when a contract is changed, the people (who in this case were at the national office) can provide e-mail confirmation of the change.Avis
