Pros: "Pilot got us back safe through some bad turbulence, the flight was shaky from start to finish. They gave extra snacks, were attentive to any needs. Would definitely trust Delta pilots again. Also with this being a connecting flight, it was nice that the group of five I was in was given an entire row to ourselves."

Cons: "Several hours was added to my travel day when my Calgary to Seattle flight was cancelled and I was rerouted from Calgary to Vancouver to Seattle. It seems to me that if an airline initiated change that significant occurs, I should have an option given me to change my itinerary."

Pros: "We had 35 minutes from landing in MSP to takeoff for BOS. We came in on gate C20 and our departure was for C5. The gate person could not confirm the gate so we hailed a vehicle to take us. The driver added 2 more to our cart which slow us down appreciably. We got to the gate and they hadn't started boarding. My wife went to the Ladies Room and I walked over to the desk. The boarding flight was going to LA!! Our flight was going out C11! I had to ask a woman to go into the restroom and yell for my wife to get moving! We made it but I don't know how. Typical Delta!!!!"

Cons: "The seat on this 737-800 was uncomfortably narrow. This was likely due to the table-tray being in the seat armrest. I had to remove everything from my side pants pockets and even then was not particularly comfortable. This is particularly annoying because I usually avoid this by flying comfort plus. However, on this itinerary, Delta would not allow me to give them money for Comfort plus, because it was a domestic leg on an itinerary including stops in Asia. Such a baffling policy!?!?"

Cons: "After a grueling 14 hour flight back to the states from Asia, got notification that my Delta flight was further delayed an additional 3.5 hrs from the layover of 2hrs, so I was at the airport for a good part of the day and did not get home till midnight. Altogether 24+ hrs of no real sleep. To add insult to injury, a Delta representative called and apologized, offering a $100 voucher or gift certificate. Raised expectation that they might actually do the right thing. I then received a Delta email that says "Your day just got better", except there was nothing but ads and enter to bid for things. Overall bad experience when I really needed them to get me home on time."

Put on a flight with overnight in LGA, but they could not tell us if a voucher would be provided. Usual story since the govt does not mandate the airlines do better. Was not advised to try standby on other later flights, which worked. Finally landing in BOS, we sat for 45+ min waiting for a third person to flag the plan to the gate. Understand why, but really annoying after such a long day full of delays. Felt many areas could have been handled better. Each person individually tried, but in aggregate it was a mess."

I talked to their manager but she was very rude and completely unhelpful, they could have easily put us on that flight. Even after i have explained my situation. And when leaving in kelowna our flight was delayed and when we showed up an hour before our delayed flight we were told they are boarding right now and that we have to run to security.... when we got to the counter they didnt even know what were taking about. Totally mismanaged and both experiences were just awful."

Pros: "United airlines canceled a flight last minute that I needed in order to get to my best friends' wedding on time, I usually fly AA but the United flights were slightly cheaper at the time. The options United gave me would have had me missing the wedding, AA had more flights that allowed me to make it in time, considering it was booked 12 hours before take-off, it was decently reasonable and left on time and got in early (imagine that, United). Thank you American Airlines, again!"

When I went to the information desk they had no idea where my flight was, or if it even existed. I had to wait for the Hainan Airlines booths to open for a different flight and then ask them. I waited over an hour in total and was then afraid I would miss my connecting flight."

When I boarded (almost the last person to do so), there was an empty overhead compartment directly across from my seat. I had to wait 30-40 minutes at the carousel to collect this carry-on bag. I could have just gone directly to my car as I had no other checked bags. Very poor service. I will avoid booking with American Airlines in the future."

Cons: "We were downgraded from Main Cabin Extra rows 7 and 8 to row 30. We were told that we will get refund automatically. However, we received nothing. Getting a refund back is now becomes a very complicated process with zero transparency. Main Cabin Extra is kind of a scam. We bought it specifically for an extra leg room. However, on the flight from PHX to BOS, all seats in the economy class have the same leg room. The agent explicitly told us that on this plane all seats are the same. So, they offer product they do not have and collect money. Sounds like a scam to me."

Cons: "We boarded the plane at 1:30 for a 2:00 flight, there was a filter out in one of the three bathrooms; the option to take a 45 min flight without use of the restrooms was there, we were told to use the restroom if we needed to before the flight so everyone did... then we continued to sit on the ground for two hours. After two hours we were allowed to get off the plane, 20 minutes later back onto the plane, backed away from the gate and then pulled into a different gate and were told to get back off the plane. At this point we were given no info or direction but to go talk to special services if we want to re-book a different flight (sold out until at the earliest 8:15pm). After about an hour they announce they are re-boarding the original plane, takes another 45 minutes to board the plane, then we are told two separate issues caused this lengthy delay one was a filter in the bathroom and the other was a thermostat... seems like very basic standard maintenance issues that could have been avoided with routine checks. We were offered zero compensation, the trip took over 6 hours in all to fly from Philadelphia PA to Boston MA; a trip I could have driven in less time. I continue to have issues with American Airlines and "mechanical" delays, the last flight i was on From Charlotte to Baltimore was delayed an hour due to a strap in the cargo area. I don't understand the logic behind the decisions made to hold the full plane over 5 hours instead of taking a 45 minute flight, but I will say the crew was very apologetic and handled the situation well."

I don't like checking in at an automated kiosk, which was frustrating, and took me a while to figure out (I am not of the digital generation). The first human contact I had was with the person who scanned my boarding pass. The flight was completely full, which is never a comfortable situation in coach class."

Pros: "We flew to and from Tokyo in premium economy. The staff was friendly and multilingual. We appreciated the meals, each of which had a choice of Western or Japanese style; the overnight hospitality packs, which included a pillow and blanket, eye mask, earplugs, toothbrush, and comfy socks; and the unusual international movie options. Each flight kept more or less to schedule."

Once we boarded after like - 10 delays and a gate change, there were NUMEROUS whole-flight mixups with luggage - so many similar flight numbers traveling to same destination and whole flights awaiting their luggage. Our party of four had our luggage spread through THREE different planes. WTH? No customer service at DTW once we arrived and there were so many livid people. Absolutely awful. We were supposed to arrive at 5PM and it's now 3:11AM. My son just completed filing a luggage claim loss. And we are off to drive home to Grand Rapids two hours away. Nightmare."

Because it was unexpected, we had to wait even longer for a gate to become available. We then had to re go through customs and get our bags then wait in line again at the counter to schedule our flight for the next day. Thankfully we were given a hotel room and money for food. Very scary experience overall on the runway, but they tried to handle it as smoothly as possible under the unusual circumstances."

They charged me $15 per leg to make advanced seat assignments ($60 total) then changed my flights and put me in middle seats on two legs without asking me - I didn't find out until I was ready to board and they called my name to come to the gate desk! They also charge $33+ US to check one bag. If you go over the 50 lb weight limit they charge $100. By the time you add it all up, I could have flown on Delta through the US for less. Trying to get my seat selection fees reimbursed was very difficult; At the airport, they told me to go online and ask for a refund; Online, I couldn't find the way to get to the refund link; Called Customer service again, who gave me an 800# to call for a refund; the person on the 800 # told me I had to request it online but walked me through it to find the refund link; I filled in the online request and was told by automatic reply that Air Canada would investigate it and get back to me within 3-4 weeks. Ugh! No more Air Canada for me!"

Cons: "I was stuck in immigration for about an hour. The screening process at this airport is so laborious. You have to wait on a bench until they call your name and they don't care if your flight is about to be boarding. I understand that immigration is necessary but they could at least have people form a queue instead of having us wait for our names to be called. I told them that my flight would be boarding in 25 minutes and they told me "Oh, don't worry, they'll just put you on the next flight". But when I got to my airline to check in, they charged me $150. I needed that $150 to pay some bills when I got back home."

Pros: "This was the absolute worst experience of my life. Out flight from Calgary to LAX was on the complete other side of the airport than our connector to San Diego. After a delay we had a short amount of time to get to the next flight. We literally were told to just cross the parking lot. Well... that ended up being a 25 minute run across the airport to only have to go thru security again. After navigating construction and parking structures we got to our gate 10 minutes late and would not be let on the flight. There was zero communication, sympathy or help from the United Airlines staff. We were told it was not their problem because we came in through Air Canada- BUT we booked through United! All in all it was an absolute nightmare that ended in us renting a car at 12am and driving back to San Diego with zero compensation from United Airlines"

Cons: "When we made reservations in February we opted for economy plus seating 8C and 8D on an Airbus A320. In June we received notice of a schedule and equipment change to a Boeing 737-300. I was not told or given the option to change seat assignments, and we were assigned middle and window seats 28E and 28F, which were torture, so narrow and almost no legroom. Why weren't we automatically assigned economy plus seats? Adding insult to injury I had to apply for a refund for the seat upgrade, which again should have been automatic. Seeing as how the return flight was code-shared with AirCanada, United did not give us the option to upgrade seating, so I was forced to call United, waited almost 40 minutes so that they could give me the AirCanada booking reference number which then enabled me to upgrade seats via AirCanada's website. Lucky thing too because there weren't many economy plus seats left. I consider myself to be a savvy traveler, but there were too many unknowns and hoops to jump through in order to get proper seating. Plus the extra fees for premier access and baggage are exorbitant. Finally, I bought an egg white flatbread snack which was awful. I don't see how United gets away with this treatment, it certainly doesn't make for an enjoyable experience when vacationing. In fact we are seriously considering not taking any more vacations requiring flying. We're happy that airlines are profitable, but not at the expense of comfort or navigating options that require very sophisticated knowledge."

Cons: "The customer service was mediocre. The selection of complementary beverage was minimal compared to other airlines. The staff are disgruntled and sometimes rude. There was always some sort of mechanical problems with the plane going to Puerto Plata and coming back. On the way to DR we had to divert to Miami because of problems with Navigation. They made us wait seven hours and gave us a voucher for food at the last minute. People had already bought food. I would not recommend United to none of my associates."

I don't think I will ever fly united again due to the customer service."

There was also NO room. I'm not a big person, but I didn't even have space to put my bad under the seat in front of me & sit comfortably. I flew back on JetBlue with the same amount of stuff and had ample room. It was interesting to see the difference."

They couldn't wait till the plane was loaded?? I gave this flight a 'good' rating because it was mostly as good as it is going to get with economy passengers needs stripped to the bare minimum."

Will not be flying with United out of Newark NJ again. If it weren't for the friendly passenger in line who let us move ahead we would have missed the flight. Just made it before the gate to the aircraft closed."

I didn't get my seat until stepping onto the plane/bridge. While there was nobody available to even tell us what was going on regarding seat assignments until 10 minutes before boarding, there were 4-6 United employees sitting in chairs right next to our gate chit chatting (being paid to do absolutely nothing), who couldn't even tell us what was going on (what a waste of resources)... Even the manager took 15 minutes to carefully set up the line walkways coming in to customer service... like it had never been done before and she had to reinvent the wheel."

Pros: "The flight attendant could not have been better. For the first time in my life, I had to ask for a seatbelt extender (and sit sideways-ish in the seat), and she very discretely got me one. The previous flight that day, I fit in the seat just fine (as usual) and had some extra length on my normal belt. This seat was definitely the smallest I'd ever been in, but I was thankful to that woman for being SUPER understanding and doing other things throughout the flight that made me more comfortable."
