Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Only check in and boarding was smooth."
Pros: "Customer service from SFO to YVR. The BNE to YVR customer service wasn’t good when I came, particularly from the Brisbane airport staff, but going back, it was great."
Cons: "Better food, otherwise good"
Pros: "Speedy boarding, awesome pilots and crew as always."
Cons: "Was not offered food on the flight even though it was more that 3h:15m. By the time I got to my destination I had not eaten lunch and it was already past dinner. I tried to ask for food but was only offered something to drink, not even a snack (no warm nuts or anything)"
Pros: "Overall, the experience is fine. The flight entertainment selection is extensive for a short haul."
Cons: "Given that the entertainment selection is extensive, the connection ports are not working properly. Not all USB charging port and the power outlet port works as expected. The seat that I sat at does not charge and/or provide proper power."
Cons: "Everyone on the plane was freezing and the crew could not do anything about it"
Cons: "There was no complimentary food: not even snacks. Nice to have some juice, tea etc, though"
Pros: "Great food and good space for economy"
Cons: "The plain had been siting at the gate when I arrived 1.5 hours early...trouble was the flight crew did not show up on time. the flight left 2 hours and 45 minutes late. Even after we all boarded, they made an announcement that we were ready to go, but still needed a pilot. If I was this late, I'd be in serious trouble."
Pros: "Will use again"
Cons: "Airline food has always been poor no matter which airline you travel. Be more liberal with the drinks trolley."
Pros: "One of the crewmembers (regrettably, I did not catch his name) was incredibly kind when I moved seats to accommodate a couple that wanted to sit together. He really made this flight great."
Cons: "Seats were comfortable but the row I moved to did not allow me to recline."
Pros: "The flight was good"
Cons: "Because I miss my flight"
Pros: "price, flight wasn't full, water offered through cabin between meals"
Cons: "No menu of food description before meals. Only get choice of beef or chicken"
Pros: "Crew was nice"
Cons: "No food, no entertainment. Very uncomfortable plane"
Pros: "Comfortable seats with good entertainment system"
Cons: "Both my flights were cancelled and I had to fly out on a later flight . Thus greatly inconvenienced myself as both times it meant I did not reach my destination until the middle of the night. I hope I never have to use Air Canada again because I always have something negative happen when I fly with them!"
Cons: "One flight attendant was rather unpleasant. When she asked my husband what he wanted to drink he asked "Can I have coffee?" Her repsonse was a firm "No.' Confused, he repeated the question and she again responded with "no." I had to ask her, "Are you not serving hot drinks on this flight?" I'm always shocked by this kind of behavior in some flight attendants. Why didn't she just say, "I'm sorry. We aren't serving hot drinks now"?"
Pros: "Enough empty seats that I could lay out to sleep. The price was very reasonable."
Cons: "Hard to believe in 2017 an airline can offer a 9-10 hour flight without any in-flight entertainment system."
Cons: "We got delayed, but this was not the fault of the airline. My bags were put on the wrong flight as well"
Pros: "but only a few minutes late arriving ..."
Cons: "Boarded on time then sat on the tarmac for 30 minutes waiting for the water truck."
Pros: "It was such a nice normal flight compared to the other flights on this trip."
Cons: "Still too much carry on to deal with before take off."
Cons: "The tv in business class weren't really working... stopping the movies by it self and I had to always restart them until I gave up on watching a movie!"
Pros: "There was nothing to like about that flight."
Cons: "Even though I was at the airport on time , checked in and waiting to board; at the last minute I was told that the plane has left and the sooner I could fly would be the next day; without providing hotel arrangement nor meals and or at least money for taxi. Air Canada management personel has not been cordial to me and to the other travelers."
Cons: "Bag damaged. No one to report damage to"
Pros: "The service was very good and the flight felt safe and smooth."
Cons: "Very crowded plane with very little legroom (and I am 1.65m). The food could be improved. Entertainment was decent, but the design of the controls embedded in the armrest caused my neighbor to disrupt my programming often. It was inadvertent, but still annoying."
Pros: "It boarded and arrived on time."
Cons: "There was no snack unless you paid for one."
Pros: "Check in was smooth and we were given extra leg space seats!"
Cons: "The flight took off about half hour late!"
Cons: "Numerous people had oversize carry on luggage that should have been checked. The passengers like me had smaller than regulation carry on but there did not seem to be room in the overhead compartments."
Pros: "We had two different tickets, one on ANA and the other for Air Canada. The young lady at checkin linked them, checked our bags through Tokyo to Toronto AND got us boarding passes all the way. Without that help we would have missed our connection in Tokyo. Thanks SO much to ANA."
Pros: "Very fast."
Pros: "Nice crew. Smooth boarding."
Cons: "No televisions on an international flight. Yes, they have an app with movies but a friend couldn't connect to their wifi so was without entertainment. My seat was more comfortable on my DC-Montreal flight than my international. Warn customers about the difference between Air Canada and Air Rogue. Big difference."
Pros: "The crew was friendly and polite."
Cons: "You really need to make those seats somewhat more comfortable. I'm an average sized person I think, 5'6" and 150 lbs, but I found the seats very hard and generally small. Also, please stop serving those hot pockets as a snack and please top charging for potato chips!"
Pros: "Much better than the Air Canada flight from Europe. There was a good selection of movies and easy to use. For a short flight, they packed food, drink and a movie. Family enjoyed this flight."
Cons: "Received my luggage after one day"
Pros: "- At Rome FCO, one of the Air Canada representatives pulled out of the line to get us into the business class check-in line since we had 2 kids - we totally loved this focus on families and respect the attention to detail! - The flight from FCO to YYZ was awesome! great food, great service, constant flow of drinks and the dessert was awesome! my kids are picky eaters and even they enjoyed the food - Movie and entertainment selection was awesome - Lastly, appreciated the prompt service for getting child stroller at the door of the aircraft at all times (from FCO-YYZ-PDX)"
Cons: "- The new designed aircraft are meant to pack more passengers which means the aisle for rolling the trolley is very narrow - poor flight attendants were having a challenge and bumping trolley into seats (not their fault at all) - given likelihood of injuries and lawsuits, I highly recommend AIR CANADA management to do something about this narrow aisle before it is too late (i.e. major lawsuit filed by future passenger on account of injury sustained because of getting hurt by food trolley)"
Pros: "Comfortable, well maintained aircraft. Good entertainment. Friendly crew. Boarding process was well conceived. They separated seating zones into different queues, and turned back people who attempted to board out of order."
Cons: "Breakfast was underwhelming for an international flight. Dinner was just average. The crew seemed to have trouble responding to things like...people using restrooms late during the descent, passengers making themselves a little too "at home" and thereby disturbing their neighbors, and repeated chimes due to an errant elbow on a call button...the little things. They are things you don't notice when a crew is highly attentive, as you find on Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa, or Air New Zealand. The crew were friendly, but not quite in charge."
Cons: "Couldn't rate entertainment- there was none - none expected"
Cons: "Stuffed like hot sardines in the boarding area. Canadian customs take a long time for transit people"
Pros: "Great short flight"
Pros: "The flight was on time and that is something really important to me. There was really no complaints about this flight"
Cons: "My headsets weren't working but it was a really minor problem."
Cons: "Nothing, everything was bad. Flight were late and service was really bad. I will never fly Air Canada again!"
Pros: "All flying may have weather issues. At almost 1 am there was a wonderful ticket agent that was in charge of all of the rescheduled flights in the "basement" area of the Toronto airport. Thanks to her for her pleasant attitude."
Cons: "Lack of communication: 1. There were gate changes that just showed up on the board with no verbal announcement. 2. There were a large number of rescheduled flights on July 1, 2016. We were all "herded" into a small, hot area. It seems like this time of day has a number of late flights that don't seem to have a good plan. 3. We landed in Greensboro and the pilot walked in to tell us after the fact. Come on, an announcement before the actual landing would have been good communication."
Cons: "The flight was delayed twice, and then when we boarded, were told that the flight would be delayed again . . . and then informed that the flight was canceled. The staff did not know what was happening, and kept us on the plane for almost 2 hours, before letting us off and telling us there were no hotels available. It was a nightmare experience transferring in Toronto. The crew did what they could, but they were largely kept in the dark too."
Pros: "In flight entertainment was great - good selection of movies and TV shows. Attendants worked hard. Food suprisingly good. Very reasonable fare - drove to Toronto from Cincinnati to save $1000 per person vs. flying out of Cincinnati and $700 per person out of Atlanta."
Cons: "Music selections limited for someone who grew up in 60's and 70's."
Cons: "We sat at the back with no windows and there was no entertainment except for an app available through wifi on our phones."
Pros: "Spacious seating and friendly staff"
Cons: "Media center was outdated and lacked options. Food was bland and lackluster for vegetarians"
Cons: "Poorest over seas flight ever been on. No tv's not even pretzels. Leg room is the worst I have ever had. Last time I flew over seas it was fabulous. Hours on a flight packed like sardines and no entertainment to speak of. No movie, no tv and no leg room. My husbands knees touched the back of seat in front. Breakfast was a slice of banana bread. Will never fly Air Canada again"
Cons: "if you get in a que, then the computer goes down , your dead, AC line will be 1.5 hours to get to rebook. then you have 2 day to stay before you can get out. if you decide to go on delta because staying 2 day in hotel is more expensive than buying a new ticket ac will not refund you. Air Canada is the least flexible airline in the world relative to refund."
Pros: "Entertainment was on point"
Cons: "Check in procedure"
