Top tips for finding cheap flights to Madeira

  • Travelers setting off from Montreal will primarily use Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL). As one of Canada's busiest airports, Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport offers numerous international flights, including possible routes to Madeira. It's always a good idea to monitor multiple airlines and booking platforms for optimal deals from this airport.
  • Madeira's primary airport is Cristiano Ronaldo Madeira International Airport (FNC) located near the capital, Funchal. It's a stunningly constructed airport, with part of its runway built over the ocean. Upon landing, you'll immediately be greeted with the beauty of Madeira.
  • When planning your trip, ensure you're aware of the baggage policies of the airline you're flying with. Different airlines have varying limits and fees for both carry-on and checked luggage, especially on international routes. Airlines like TAP Portugal, which often operate flights to Madeira, have baggage stipulations that travelers should familiarize themselves with to avoid unexpected fees.
  • Given the distance and routing, direct flights from Montreal to Madeira are less common. Common layover points might include Lisbon or other major European hubs. When booking your ticket, it's helpful to know these common transit points, as it allows you to perhaps plan a brief city tour during a longer layover or just prepare for the transit experience.
  • If sustainable travel is important to you, it's worth investigating airlines with strong green initiatives. Some carriers have adopted measures to reduce carbon emissions, invest in sustainable aviation fuels, or participate in carbon offset programs. A little additional research can help you align your travel choices with your environmental values.

No food was served on the flight. Boarding desk open two hours before departure. But they recommande to be there three hours before departure !! So we where a group waiting 1 hour in Line for nothing …

My flight from Toronto to PDL was one of the worst experiences of my travel history. I paid for an upgrade and did not receive it, and was also charged an exorbitant amount for a 25-inch bag, and when I tried to explain the situation, I was only told the flight was already over capacity. & I had to accept what I could get!, I am a frequent traveler and will not be flying your airline again!. The only thing positive in this entire trip wete the flight attendants, but other than that, everything else was very disappointing!

They charged us 100 Euro per bag on the return leg with no explanation.

Everything was perfect, clean and very nice staff. But the seat was uncomfortable compared to other companies and the food wasnt good

Flight wasn’t full so got to stretch out and sleep.

Boarding was delayed. Then when we queued, it took us to another long line to stand in. Flight had 0 entertainment. Not even a magazine. But they had a free meal and it was good!

You cannot add an additional luggage via the check in. It seems to be an issue with Azore Airline.

The facilities at PDL are absolutely appalling during a 4.5-hour connection. Passengers from multiple flights were crammed into a small area with insufficient seating and only a snack bar. The only bathroom was unisex, with one stall for men and another for women side by side. This is for hundreds of passengers. The connecting aircraft from PDL to JFK was downgraded/switched out to an Economy Class-only configuration without explanation, even though the aircraft with Comfort Class we arrived from FNC on remained at the stand. Those who paid for Comfort Class could not enjoy the better seating or catering. Food and drink aboard was sub-par. I would qualify it as one of our worst travel experiences in years.

The crew was great. The only problem is that electrical outlets were not working in what seems to be a half of the rows on the plane. Considering that passengers are asked not to use power banks, this leaves us out in the blue without any entertainment option.

Reasonably comfortable. We were about an half an hour late. But no personal impact. Seats upfront have a good amount of recline, but do not lay down flat. Food and drink can be improved. There are no soft drinks available on the flights. Water, juices, and wines are provisioned.

It was great. There were some issues prior to takeoff. The weather was poor so we had to go through deicing, and we were delayed a bit by the pilots' concern about one of the engines, but that's aviation. The pilots handled everything with aplomb, and kept us apprised

Reliable, nice crew, I fly often on that flight and I like it all.

l really enjoy very much the flight was very pleasant

The Sears in the 800s are not too good perfect Airbus why cant the new 737 fix that

Quick and seamless boarding. No entertainment but fast Starlink wifi for this short trip and the staff was really friendly.

I dread trans-Pacific flights. They are very long. This was my first time on Universal, and it was my best crossing ever. The staff were professional, the hospitality was great, and the food was delicious. The entertainment system filled the long flight hours. I will seek out Universal flights from now onwards. 🙂

The food quality sucks. One must starve if they do not eat flesh Or wheat based products Some variety would be expected. The trivial amount of snacks and or food is inhumane

We Left Calgary 1/2 hour late and that made for a tight connection in Denver. After arriving everything was done to help us make our connection. That was a great effort. Thank You United

Efficient all round, very good crew. Short flight so the food, of course, was just snacks

Food was poorly timed and not good.. Hand held snacks, really. I kept asking for water and never got any. Service was rushed for a 7-hour flight.

Overall a good experience as this leg I was in Business Class. The Lounge was amazing with a view of the planes. The flight attendant spoke way to quickly when giving the information for take off and landing and it would be of no use to a first time traveler. Overall a great airline to travel on.

Smooth on-time flight but NO AC in the middle of the cabin. Business Class and the rear of the cabin were too cold but mid-cabin was stuffy and hot with virtually no air coming out of the ducts. Made for a very long and uncomfortable flight.

Air Canada’s problems are not staff related by and large, no. The problem is tiny jets between the U.S. and Canada - yes, believe it or not they are still “international” (just ask our own Mango Maniac in power in the U.S.). The little aisle is compounded by a design flaw of a “dog leg” starting at seat 12. Woe be unto you if you sit here as passengers and attendants do not have sufficient room to not hit you in the face with backpacks. One thing I will say very positively about Air Canada is you still provide pillows and blankets on transcontinental flights to all, not just the elites. Your tiny improperly designed jets are also a problem flying city to city within Canada also. One can only say you remind us of a “Jet Blue” or “Spirit” experience. Also your luggage space is downright Byzantine! We will endeavor to avoid you and use other U.S. carriers, albeit charging more.

Terrible canceled flight and lost my luggage. Flew me to Halifax. Tgat flight was delayed, had to spend night in airport chair.

The airplane has been replaced and late night layover have been extended from 3 to 7 and the only compensation was a $15 food voucher after most restaurants have been closed, not helping with children after a 18+ hour international flight

My seat was not comfortable. Flight was smooth. Regretfully we had two delays before takeoff

They are very proactive and made our boarding easy and always notified us about any changes well in advance.

This flight with a lot empty place , and I have more room, feeling comfortable.

Flight was good, breakfast could be much better. We had come from a domestic flight on the same aircraft and the domestic flight was much better regarding service compared to this international flight.

I accidentally touched a cabin steward as she passed by and she reacted harshly yelling in a loud voice “don’t touch me”. It was embarrassing and uncalled for. I would characterize a few of the cabin crew as pretentious and aloof. Not at all what is expected. That was the first leg of our trip from Montreal to Munich. The second leg from Munich to Nice was more in keeping with the service I expected.

Delayed departure Madrid to Lisboa and my luggage no arrived

this flight was awful from pre-boarding to on the plane. There needs to be more coordination between TAP and My Way. We were in first class and I am handicapped. BY the time we got on the plane there was no place for our baggage and the crew did not handle the situation well. They gave us an argument and said that we'd have to have it checked. Then, after I complained they moved some people's bags to put our small carry ons several seats back of our seats which were in Row 4.

Late. Lack of updates. Rude hostesses. Terrible food. Lack of headphones.

Flight was delayed but crew gave little to no communication, then “began boarding” but really just had everyone stand up and wait for an hour without any news or updates, as if we were going to start boarding at any second. Total chaos. Seemed like this was their first time boarding a plane. When we arrived at our destination, we waited for over an hour for the baggage claim belt to even turn on. Probably waited at baggage claim for our luggage for close to two hours. Everyone was very confused and of course we all worried that the luggage was lost. Again, zero communication and everyone we asked just said “I don’t know.” So we were left wondering whether to wait, or file a missing baggage claim, or check the other baggage claim belts (which we did every fifteen-twenty minutes because we were just confused). Lack of communication throughout the experience was a huge issue.

The value is there, but the layovers in Lisbon were not great. The passport control was so bad that a 2 hour layover became very tight and on the return the Terminal was barebones which made it a long 3 hours.

From Casablanca to Lisbon our baggage 2 pound over they want me to pay $120 for 2 pound which unexpected we are two family 8 of us they counters lady her customer service is not good I fly frequently for my business next time fly with TAP Air I will think twice

Booked business with TAP from LAX to Cabo Verde - overall ok, but just doesn’t feel like business class. More of a budget airline

Poor. Our flight was delayed and they told me I would be fine to make my connection in Lisbon, I missed it. Then they told me my bag would be automatically loaded onto my new flight to rome. It wasn’t. It’s been 4 days and I still don’t have it.

I like the price. I dislike the website where I wanted to ask questions about the unusual high prices of the luggage fees. I called the toll free number from the United States and I cannot get through. You should test your own toll free website for info and you will know what I am writing about.

Wonderful just hope the had more direct flights to Boston

The service and food was excellent. The remote control for entertainment did not function properly.

All was good, except my USB charging did not work, so my phone got drained and I could not charge it. Same happened to my neighbour.

A bit more space? Not practical, I know. I felt squished in but part of that could have been the man sitting next to me.

We took two long flights with Lufthansa, both were delayed making us miss our connecting flights. Lufthansa took care of the first one. The second was a switch to United and figuring out how to rebook was not a pleasant experience.

They didn't open the Check-in desks for almost an hour after they should've been open (even though encouraged us to check-in our carry-on luggage because it was going to be a full flight). They alerted us that the flight would be delayed but slow-rolled informing us of the extent of the delay...which ended up being over 3 hours. As a result of this, I missed my connecting flight and had to stay over-night in Munich when it would've been a lot better for me to just stay in Warsaw another night....Lufthansa wasn't done with me yet though as I had more bad experiences with them after getting to Munich.

They don’t give information on why a flight is delayed in a timely manner. Very frustrating.

Food was terrible. They ran out of options and gave me a bland undercooked pasta and veggies. Only middle seat was available to select although I paid extra. Baggage delayed at destination. Flight attendants not really helpful.

The plane (Mitsubishi CRJ) felt old, creaking and not very new. The crew was okay. Hot water provision was broken so hot beverages could't be served.

The plane was late (as was my flight out from Birmingham the day before)

The crew was very professional, no food was served. The flight was delayed which impacted my connection at Frankfurt to Chicago… It was very stressful because it was out of my control. Had I missed my connection, it would have been extremely disruptive and inconvenient as I would have had to make other arrangements to fly to the United States.
