Luckily I spoke with a lovely lady at Lufthansa, explained the situation and she re-instated return flights for an admin fee. Will never ever use Swiss Airlines again."

Cons: "The Star Alliance flights aren't that cheap. Comparable price between Lufthansa, Swiss, SAS and Austrian. Lufthansa gives you food, and has friendly service. SAS gives you coffee and tea. On Austrian and Swiss I didn't get anything. For same price range and same alliance, that is a point I keep in mind. Now I mainly try to get onto Lufthansa flights (or Turkish Airlines which is my favorite). Even on Aegean, I got better food, and the magazine was better, plus there were some monitors to track the flight. Austrian feels cheaper than the others. That is the main point I didn't like."

Cons: "My complaints go to something not directly linked to the flight crew. 1. When boarding, I like to see when passengers are called in groups relating to distant seats in the plane such that they do not step over each other during luggage placement. That is more comfortable than let the crowd enter randomly. 2. I notice people enter the cabin with 2, even 3 pieces of luggage. Even though each one has proper dimensions, they overload the overhead compartments and it is hard for everybody to place his/her belongings in a suitable way. 3. The rows in the airplane seems to have gotten closer ti each other. It is not the airlines fault, except perhaps when choosing whose airplanes to buy...but again, there are only two major contenders in that segment. For overseas flights, it is pretty uncomfy. 4. Lastly, unboarding the plane could also be performed (enforced by the crew) to be in a more civil fashion rather than haveing5 a stampedo - again calling separate grouos of rows in the name of fairness, or simply vacating it row by row from the front to back."

Waiting area at the gate had plenty of seating and the staff was professional and courteous. We had to gate check bags as the plane was a regional turboprop, but everything went very smoothly."

There was also a glitch in the system so that the reading lights for each seat could only be operated by the seat directly in front. The food was very uninspiring and poorly presented. The tea and coffee were awful!!!!!! The choice of movies,etc was very limited. Thank goodness it was a night flight and not too long!"
Cons: "Connections to US destinations now require your checked in baggage to be processed before you can proceed to your connecting flights. The real problem is that this is no sign or communications describing this. Everyone is simply stopped in the corridor and told that they cannot proceed farther until their name comes up green on a monitor. Unfortunately the monitor switches displays so frequently that it is almost impossible to read. In addition to that it seems names do not always appear on the monitor unless you get your boarding pass scanned a the desk (this is not communicated to you unless you ask why your name is not on the monitor at all). People late for connecting flights (because of inbound flight delays) are required to wait without explanation sometimes needlessly if they don't have a checked bag. A nightmare if you're trying to make your connection. In addition once you've cleared that hurdle you need to go through security again (something we were unprepared for since we were already in the secure area. You then proceed to customs and then your connecting flight (if you haven't already missed it by then). Allow lots of time to get to your connecting flight, and ask to get you boarding pass scanned at that mysterious "checked bag" stop in the corridor."

Cons: "Real nightmare as I had booked YUL-LYS-BRU with Brussels Airlines (SN). YUL-LYS was operated with Air Canada. Came within 4 minutes of missing flight despite being at airport 3 hrs early. SN had not released ticket to Air Canada so they could not check me in. Had to call SN customer service after AC could not check me in, then wait and wait as they had to try to correct the mistake 3x before AC counter could issue boarding passes. Terrible experience going through this with 2 small kids waiting. It’s as if the two airlines’ systems don’t communicate but passenger is responsible for resolving."

Cons: "Although we boarded on time, there was a wait of over 1.5h in the plane. First time in my life i was beyond uncomfortable. What i couldn't understand was why we had to be in the plane for the refueling. It makes more sense to wait in the airport at the gate rather in a tight confined place. I'm overall pissed at the situation. Not to mention my seat was defective and although the seat was up, it would push back the moment you put weight. The flight attendant kept on asking me to place my seat in the upright position (which wasn't possible). To get her off my back, i held my back up with my own weight. I'm disappointed with aircanada."
Cons: "I want to seriously complain about Air Canada and Kayak booking systems. I reserved the tickets to Shanghai but there were no place reminding me that I need Canadian VISA to connect flights between two Canadian cities. I am a Chinese citizen who is working at USA and not allowed to change flights in Canada based on the newest government rules. However, in both booking systems, there is no reminders. In my opinion, either Kayak or Air Canada can add a simple checkbox to let the potential guest choose his or her nationality status, then this kind of trouble can be mitigated. We talked and called Air Canada people but no buying. They kept saying this is our responsibility. We bought United Airline tickets at the last minutes and cost us about $2,400 because we cannot wait to get back China to prepare our wedding ceremony and US Visa interview. We are very very disappointed with Air Canada and will keep complaining about this issue. As a service supplier, how cannot you think on behalf of a customer? The air company definitely knows more about government rules than a customer. We did have mistakes of not researching government rules. However, the biggest mistake was we trusted Air Canada and Kayak who we thought had taken care of those kind of issues for us. Thanks."

Cons: "First point of contact was incredibly rude. First she told me she couldn't find my reservation. Once she did, she gave me a lecture about my married name. Next she refused to let me take my carry on bag saying it was too large even though it fit on all flights to Montreal. Once I proved it would fit with the luggage sizer she had moved on to another customer and ignored me for 10 minutes while I stood there even though my boarding passes were printed. When I got to the flight, I found it could have been gate checked but there was no need as the flight was NOT FULL and my bag fit with no problem at all in the overhead bins. In 35 years of flying this was the worst experience I've ever had."

Cons: "Extreme delays on my return flight which made me miss my connection and get rebooked on another flight for the next day. We were delayed on departure, then on the tarmac, then in the air, and finally when getting off the plane. I am glad that I was rebooked and was given a hotel to stay at, but I did not like the way I was treated by Air Canada staff at customs. I passed through customs only to be sent back into Canada after having crossed through security because the staff decided to close. We were told by other staff members that it was up to them to decide when they were done and to talk them. I ran through the whole airport with about 7 other people to make it. Why make us cross through security only to send us back? There was no one there to guide us on what to do. I had to go through the whole thing again the following day only to have my face cream taken away (it is technically cream, not a liquid) and then be detained. None of this happened AT ALL the day before. I'd give more details but it was a complete mess."
Cons: "This flight was two and a half hours late. We lost an hour and 45 minutes due to a mechanical problem with our airplane, then lost another 45 minutes due to a storm in Toronto. Air Canada blamed the weather for our late arrival, my missed connection and claimed no responsabilility for the fact that my trip ended up taking more than 24 hours when it was supposed to take about 9 hours. Also, there was the matter of the lost luggage which was a carry on that I accepted to have checked as the Air Canada staff seemed desperate to check our carry ons on a full flight to Toronto from Montreal. I ended up spending the night in the Vancouver airport without access to my luggage."

Cons: "Some of it was air canada, some of it was weather and some of it was the montreal airport. scheduled for 6:00 rescheduled 7:00 rescheduled 8:00 boarded 8:30 took off 10:00 1. air caanda - boarded the plane, then came on with announcement that we would be sitting on tarmac for an 1.5 hours. We were delayed for hour and half already, why load us and make us sit in a warm aircraft. Air Canada offered us 10.00 vouchers for dinner... problem was they did it so late nothing was open. It should have been done earlier. 2. weather - caused the initial problem in NYC, no fault of air canada. 3. Montreal airport - Our gates were switched 3 times during the delays. Which happens, however the gate changes started at one end of the airport, moved to the other end of the airport and back to the original end."

Cons: "Our flight was turned around after we had gotten to Toronto. They claimed that they had shut down the airport due to bad weather. They took us back to Montreal where we sat in on the tarmac for two hours. They said that there was a second storm Coming through Toronto and that the airport was shutdown again. They then canceled our flight. After standing in line for three hours at customer service they told me they couldn't get me on another flight until tomorrow night and ariving at my destination two days later. The coustomer service rep then told me to just go ahead and call the customer service number because she couldn't help me. They said they wouldn't pay for any accommodations because it was weather related. The issue with their argument is that only one other flight was canceled into Toronto. Air Canada actually had several more flights that day that that landed in Toronto after they told us the airport was closed. The customer service was embarrassing. They had us wait for over three hours to be helped and there were four desk which at most times they only had two people working. Many times there was only one person. The entire thing was pathetic."

Terrible food: a slice of oily cske, served in a plastic sleeve, must be the new low for an international breakfast...no individual tvs on the sets....hello, step into the 21st century.... And the selection available via your iPad or laptop and their wifi was small, and old...we had paid to upgrade our economy tickets to the next level, and we expected more...the size of the upgraded seats was not great and there wa no foot rest to put your feet on, which is a significant help to someone who flies so many hours and can assist with circulation...."
Cons: "Tough to have a long-haul flight without functioning seat-back entertainment. Mine never worked. Asked three times about it - three times the system was "rebooted" - to no avail. I told each subsequent flight attendant that it had already been reset - they just "tried" it again. Very frustrating over the course of several hours. No one ever checked to see whether their re-set actually worked. Also, not sure why the window seats now have an arm rest on the window side of the seat - seriously interferes with passenger comfort when trying to sleep."
Cons: "One of my three flights was unnecessarily delayed by two hours, enough that I missed my last connection and had to stay overnight in Vancouver. There were no technical complications or weather complications. It was simply because something had been misscheduled and the flight crew needed a longer rest time between flights. This is completely avoidable, and the attendent who checked me in even said so. While the hotel and shuttle were paid for, Air Canada only gave me a $7 breakfast voucher, which was only redeemable at the hotel's measly breakfast counter rather than anywhere in the airport. For the unnecessary delays I had to deal with, i should had received more credit. This was an utterly disappointing travel experience."

The food is horrible and the type you'd expect on a puddle jumper from NY to Boston. Clearly Air Canada executives are aware that Canada and the US are separate countries. This is just an attempt to gouge the consumer. Unfortunately Air Canada is the only Airline I can fly out of Montreal so I'm stuck with them. : ("

Pros: "The plane was nice and spacious. A CA agent stationed by customs helped about five of us get to the front of the line, so we'd make our next flight."
Cons: "1. After playing 20 questions at the check-in kiosk, it was unable to print our documents. 2. So we played 20 questions again and the second machine failed to check us in. 3. The flight was delayed about an hour (due to weather, not your fault), so our connection was tight. We alerted the agent at the gate (along with several others). She didn't help at all. She just told us to go to the gate. Well, we had to go through customs, so that wasn't helpful. What we were asking is if she could alert the gate agents at the next flight that we were running as fast as we could. 4. So five of us get to the next gate as they're paging us that the doors are closing. 5. Our bags didn't make the flight, which wasn't unexpected, but it was worrisome when the agent at our final destination told us she couldn't tell where they were."
Cons: "One man wanted me to check an empty carry on bag I travel for 10 years with this high quality foldable carry on bag, it is a tight in their test cradle because of the wheels but it does fit. Even a passanger offer me is support telling the agent he was not reasonable after getting the bag in and out 4 times he still wanted me to check the bag in ? After 10 min arguments he said ok put it on the floor ! I could of put 2 of my foldable bag on the top storage if I had 2.... it was a connecting from same airline a much smaller plane which accepeted the bag . Very unpleasant ! Some people like to feel in power."

Cons: "Air Canada failed to transfer my bag from flight 1 to connecting flight 2. This not only happened to me but to other people traveling on the same connecting flight as well. My bag was delivered later then the promised time, it was also returned damaged. It is now almost one week since I have taken my flight and I am unable to process a claim because they have not updated my file via their Bag Tracer program. It is clear that they still have a lot of work to do to be considered a real commercial air line company"
Cons: "Boarding was slow and chaotic because of the number of passengers bringing oversize carry-on bags, presumably to try to avoid the checked-bag fee. The overhead bins filled up early, and passengers squabbled over the available space and objected when flight attendants told them they would have to gate-check their bags. The aisle was congested and blocked for long periods of time as people tried to fit their bags into the bin, and the plane left the gate more than 15 minutes late because of the slow boarding. There were about 100 people on the flight, but only about 20 at baggage claim (including at least two family groups), another indication that the checked-bag fee caused passengers to bring oversize carry-on bags. The overall rating for this flight would be significantly higher if it weren't for the boarding process."

Cons: "Our Swiss crew told us over the loudspeaker several times that "even if connecting we still need to get our luggage" which turned out to be false as our luggage was transferred to the Boston bound plane automatically... We were ushered out as a group to a connection security check which required electronic kiosks to be used for scanning our passports photos and fingerprints... They fraught with malfunctions then after waiting in line for s while we did the whole check all over again with s human security agent in s booth... There were only 2 security agents in the booths as well but there really needed to be several more to keep the line moving quicker... After security we walk directly out to departures but no mention of baggage claim, which was fine had we not been misinformed by Swiss initially... We ended up inquiring several times with SirCsnsda staff until it was clear Swiss had misinformed us."

Cons: "I didn't like that they either started boarding too early or we waited a long time to get off the runway as it seemed we were on the plane a long time before we actually left. Also we just received our snack and our drink and as soon as we received them, a stewardess told us to all put our tables up and I do believe that it was because we were descending to land. It seemed like forever before we received our snack and then we're told we couldn't use our tables. I think they should have started the snacks earlier as it was quite a big plane and it probably would take quite a long time to serve everyone and the worst part of it all was that I had asked for a can of pop, so I had to hold my can of pop, my glass pop and try to get my snack out of the package which was not easy at all."

Cons: "On the way back from Quebec City to Montreal we were asked to check our carry-ons as luggage, because "there is no room' on the plane. It was an empty flight. ALL overhead compartments were empty. Both flights - Quebec to Montreal and Montreal San Francisco were late. As the result, we have to spend 1.5 hours in the baggage claim area, because "there are no baggage agents in SFO available". THAT WAS THE WHOLE REASON WE ONLY HAD CARRY-ONS! By far, one of the worst flight experience in the last 10 year."
Cons: "After waiting 30 minutes after our boarding time, I got an email on my phone saying the gate had changed. No one at the current gate knew anything about it and I went to ask but no one could be found. I asked a man sitting behind the gate, who happened to be the pilot, and he also knew nothing about it. Needless to say, the gate changed and absolutely nobody was told about it. 2 hours later, our flight finally took off, and I was thanked by the pilot for getting us to the right gate... At least he provided a little humor to the situation! Plane also wasn't cleaned, pretzels and trash all over the floor."

Cons: "I missed my connection in Montreal because the flight was 2 hours late to get in and Air Canada staff in Lyon had told me I did not need to get my luggage in Montreal but only in Toronto to go through US custom ... which was not true. The airport staff in Montreal was absolutely unhelpful and sent me in 10 different directions. I was finally rebooked for a later flight, and the person there was finally very nice and helpful."

Cons: "One hour delay, which was very tiring for someone who already had gone through the 9 hour flight torture from Athens. The Global Entry for US bound passengers procedure is very confusing. Maybe it would help if the steps were communicated on the US bound passengers before disembarking. First the passport process (easy) then there is this confusing process where we need to see our names in green on the screen, with some staff telling us to move on while others insist that we need to stay back and wait for our names to go green on screens that keep changing. Good idea and intentions to help clear bags, and can be improved. Overall the Montreal to DC flight (with the exception of the awful Montreal airport and the long delay) was excellent."

I did three flight with air canada prior to this flight with the same carryon. I didn't appreciate the ladies attitude. She said I don't care who or what class you fly so took my roller and tagged it. Then she let the guy next to me get on with his bigger roller only because he was first class. I had to upgrade myself to first class to keep my roller on me. I had things that I couldn't part from my carry on. Cost me $500 US dollar and then she said to me. What ever thrills you. Wow. I am star alliance gold with two airlines and I have never ever been treated this way ever. I will never take air canada ever again. The 1800 customer service isn't any better."
Cons: "The fact that because I was late for my flight, my reservation was cancelled. I was not given the opportunity to change my flight at all, I just lost out on the return portion of my travel. I would have been willing to pay a fee to change my return, but not given the opportunity. Had I booked directly with the airline, they would have had no problem making a change. Buyer beware!!! If you don't book directly with an airline, you may suffer the same fate as me! This was an almost $1,300 dollar learning experience. Do not use third party online booking agents! You do not have the same protections as dealing with the airlines directly."

Traveling back to SFO the counter person made us pay to check a bag, even though we knew if we went to the gate, they would take it. This was not good or consistent. We will not fly on Air Canada"

Since some designer genius (thanks, Boeing!) put all the controls in the armrest, exactly where any normal human being will rest his/her elbows, the controls keep activating every time you lay your elbow in the armrest. That means, your games will cancel and restart a thousand times, your volume will keep shifting from deafening to mute, and the button calling for help from the crew keeps going "ping" all over the plane. The crew ignored the calls, surely since they know what goes on with the plane, but I wonder what would happen if somebody really needed help. In addition to that, the seats are incredibly uncomfortable, narrower than ever and hard as brick. Every time I board a new plane I wonder what can they do to make it even worse, and plane designers never cease to amaze me with new medieval tortures."
Cons: "The boarding crew did a poor job of giving direction. In spite of the fact that boarding by zone was not specified, I was reprimanded by staff for boarding when I did. I found it very disrespectful that the staff reprimanded me for their own error. When I pointed out that they had not called a zone the ground staff lied and said they had called the zone. I strongly recommend staff receive remedial customer service training. This was an incredibly negative experience - not to mention undermined the otherwise decent experience that the Air Canada flight team provided."

United crew politely asked if the gentlemen was willing to move to 6B, which his original seating in the system but he refused to do so. We' also personally explained to him that if he can yield the seat so that our family could sit together due to my wife's medical condition but he would not cooperate. I noted Those gentlemen on 1D and 1C are either buddies or coworkers. The crews were looking at each other without offering a solution. I ended up telling the crew that I could sit on 6B so that the plane can leave. The departure time was 20 min late u related my seating issue and de-icing took another 40 min. I am a Global Service member and I am very unhappy about the way the whole situation was created and handled by United."

What they failed to realize is that nobody needs a visa for China if they’re connecting in transit. It took a phone call and 3 staff members to sort things out. Not something that I want to deal with at 5:00 am. Moreover, due to the de icing, the flight was late and i just made it to my connecting flight in Newark. It was quite a hair-raising experience overall."

Cons: "The worst thing is that they schedule a CRJ-70 on this flight. This would be tolerable if the obvious alternative was a turboprop, as if Montreal were a small town, like Flin Flon. But it is not; it is a large and important city, and it stinks that the demand is so low that airlines must use small aircraft on these routes. Is it because Canadian taxes are so high on airlines that fares in turn must be high and not stimulate demand? I can't think of any other reason connecting cities this size would be on crappy little aircraft rather than on at least an A320/737 family aircraft. The problem is that there is not enough room in the overhead bins to fit rollaboards, even small ones like mine. So they have to "gate check" the bag, which does not always reappear at the gate at the destination. Less bad than the choice of aircraft was the fact that after we pushed back, they couldn't get an engine started, so they cancelled the flight and reaccommodated us on a later flight."

The crew is rude and officious and blatantly would just ignore customers trying to get their help, they will force you to keep all electronics to be off for 30 minutes after takeoff and before landing (literally taking them out of your hands) regardless of if they are in airplane mode or even have a wifi signal or are just a kindle, they will not permit the use of mobile phones at any point in the flight and again will take them out of your hand even in airplane mode to listen to music or type notes etc., the food is terrible, they came through once with drinks on a 6 hour flight (thank god I bought some water in the airport beforehand), the plane was noticeably decades old with chairs and table trays falling apart, entertainment did not exist which was made all the more noticeable because your electronics were taken away. My bag was broken and an entire shell for it was missing by the time it got to Singapore. And Shanghai is the worst airport for a layover I've ever been in -- it's a dump of an airport, has very few food options, terrible wifi, you are blocked from accessing basic websites like Google and Facebook, and you have to go through an entirely new security and checkin procedure, which is onerous, even though you did one in Japan. The boarding is slow and terrible, and the flight was delayed sitting on the tarmac for 40 minutes without even an attempt to apologize or explain for the delay. And it seems this behavior and approach is just normal based on other people I've talked to. It's. it hard to make flying a little more pleasant with basic courtesies but China Eastern seems to find a way to take every one of those opportunities to male your experience worse."
Cons: "Just the passengers continuing on to Hangzhou were told to wait on the plane. Then after all the other passengers left, we were told to get off as well. Then we were told to stand and wait for at least 20 minutes, then routed through the airport to join the first group of passengers on the plane to go through immigration, where one of the immigration officers was yelling out us. Then we had to wait at least another 20 minutes before we were led to the check-in counter where we each person needed to get new boarding passes. This process took at least a half hour. Then we had to re-enter the regular security line to reboard our flight. When we landed in Hangzhou, this process was essentially repeated, except that this time we collected our checked bags and went through customs before having to go to the check-in counter, again, get a new boarding pass, again, and then go through regular security to continue the remaining leg of my flight. I've never seen such an inefficient transit procedure in my life!"

Pros: "Food - Free dinners even for economy class. Entertainment - Every seat has a TV that offers multiple languages and tons of blockbuster movies from a variety of genres. They also offer many television shows in multiple languages and genres and video games. Roomy- The seats are as non-roomy as any airplane. However, the flight attendants don't give you any trouble when you want to just get up and walk around and talk to people. It gives the plane a roomy atmosphere. You can go to spacier sections of the plane to hang out."

Pros: "Food - Free dinners even for economy class. Entertainment - Every seat has a TV that offers multiple languages and tons of blockbuster movies from a variety of genres. They also offer many television shows in multiple languages and genres and video games. Roomy- The seats are as non-roomy as any airplane. However, the flight attendants don't give you any trouble when you want to just get up and walk around and talk to people. It gives the plane a roomy atmosphere. You can go to spacier sections of the plane to hang out."
Pros: "Great entertainment - The plane offers a ton of blockbuster movies that are recent and from many catagories. They also offer TV from different lands and video games and selection of languages to hear them in. Great food - Even economy passengers get great free food during the trip. For a trip as long as going from Washington DC to BeiJing, they give you two dinners. Roominess - The seats are as cramped as any airline. However, the flight attendants don't give you are trouble when you want to get up and walk around and stay standing and talking with people of a long time. It has two isles so it feels pretty roomy to get up and walk around. Friendly staff- They make american flight staffs look very rude."

My parents are old my mother can’t walk probably and Blood pleasure patient. I ask for room in Beijing because of 18 hours delayed stay. But they failed for get Hotel. But Japanese staff were nice also crew. I would love to give 5/5 rating but honestly was bad experience only because of delayed flight and couldn’t get recovery."
Cons: "Our flight was severely delayed 6 hours from Heathrow, and that is where this horror story began. No one bothered to tell us anything. When we arrived in Beijing for our connection to Bangkok, we had to search out people for help, there was absolutely no one forthcoming with explanations. We were travelling as 2 friends, I was booked on one flight and my travelling companion on another 15 hours later! This only got changed when we explained that we both only had hand luggage! To then board the flight and sit on the tarmac, engines running, simply waiting, no explanations again!! Will we ever fly China Airways again?? If we could exchange our return flight tickets to that of another Star Alliance member we would."

The air hostess tried to help but mentioned that it’s just slow. During dinner service I asked for a second glass of wine with my meal but was refused as only 1 glass of beer or wine is allowed per passenger and flight, which I found very stingy as an airline and irritating from a customer care perspective."
Cons: "Transfer in Beijing gave only one hour between flights. Impossible to make with China's cumbersome security procedure. Why did they give us those flights? Told staff on plane that we had a tough connection. No communication or procedure to help make transfer. Got to the gate BEFORE flight was to take off but plane was uncoupled from ramp and NO STAFF present. Went to another Air China gate and could not get any help. No supervisors to help. Five people missed the connection. Had to wait over EIGHT hours for next flight and was offered NOTHING by way of compensation. Does not appear that Air Chine wants to live up to the country's status in the world. Very poor service."

We arrived on time but did not get off the plane until 12:00. They began boarding our connecting flight at 12:15. My husband needed the use of a wheelchair and with the help of the airport staff member we RAN through immigration (flew in from Hong Kong), had to go through security a second time, lost my iPad at security due to our rapid departure. We got to the flight at 12:30 and made it just in time to board. Our luggage could not be transferred in time and arrived the next day. This is just too difficult for people of any age to do...my husband and I are both in our 70s."

Cons: "We were so delayed—gate number didn’t show up until after we were to take off—missed connecting flight to HNL. They cited ‘weather’ for our missed connection but had never said anything about this in Hong Kong when we were waiting hours for our plane to arrive. We were told to get temporary visas so they could put us in a hotel that night. We found our way to the meeting place only to be told there were no more rooms. The worker was completely rude and just ignored us. We were stranded all night on the departure side, waiting to check in in the morning to a flight we weren’t even sure we were rerouted on. We were given 200 yen (which is nothing) and had to go thru Tokyo, and wait another half day to catch a connection to HNL. The whole trip took 36 hours instead of 16. I’ll never fly this airline again. Something similar happened to me flying China Eastern. Honestly avoid all Chinese airlines, unless you want to spend a lot of time arguing with people and at least 2-3 times the travel time. (Not to be confused with Taiwanese airlines like China Airlines which are much more dependable and hace way nicer everything.)"

Cons: "The Air China ground staff was horrible. The return flight was late and so I missed my connection in Beijing. One of the flight attendants then blamed me for it because Kayak had booked the connecting flights too closely. I was then shuttled downstairs to ground crew who were terse, uncommunicative, and downright mean. I ended up in a hotel and can only hope this last part of my flight gets better. I’m still in beijing as I write this. And no wi fi on the domestic or international legs of the flight. Primitive."

We were hungry and no way of getting in touch with our family members because airport wifi does'nt work for us. We were ask to go here and there without explanation and the hotel given does'nt deserve to.be even a 1star..a better than nothing hotel. Tired, hungry and very exhausted . No words can describe our frustrations. We deserve a refund if not at least a compensation for that very bad service experienced on that flight of Air China 880."

Cons: "The online service was not user friendly and slow. Our upgrade was said at departure it would be for the full flight and was Not. The staff would not speak English and refused to serve any drinks or snacks as I thought it would be normal. Our luggage was lost and did not arrive at our final destination til 2 days later. On the flight home we were told to wait till our transfer to upgrade and that was denied and said we needed to do it prior. I am beyond disappointed and will never fly with Air China again and the only recourse that was given was from the nice people in Japan that explained this happens all the time and provided a voucher for less than 100 US dollars. I will advise anyone in the future not to fly this airline and I would like this to be investigated."

Cons: "I was delayed by a connecting flight and there was no way to pre-check, notify the airline or get ahold of anyone to let this be known in advance. I tried customer service for airline, for travel agent etc. no way to get ahold of anyone. Thought I was there at the time of boarding, they would not let me board, because I was not within their 1 hour check in time so I missed the flight. Since connections to Korea are only once per day, I was delayed a full 24 hours and endured several more hardships that could have been easily avoided with some good customer service. Also, it was stifling hot inside the aircraft and the crew could not seem to help cool it off despite twice asking them to get me some air-flow."
Pros: "The crew were helpful and friendly throughout, trying to find out what we should do about missed connections during the flight, I was able to move to an empty exit seat (I'm 6'5") so the delay was relatively comfortable."

She said do not understand English and was on the phone looking for instruction how to help weelchair person. I assumed they told her go to check in , so she took me to Chech Airline point wait for bounding pass. The time of arrival to Beijin I was taking care on weelchair by Chinve's lady wery nervous, haotic on security point which cost difiiculties find my passport. and appone delivery me to the plain she ask for money! The last part of experience with ground weelchair services was in SF airport, all foriners workers, create wery unprofessional, nervous atmosphere and demand a money. Looks like AIRLINES OVERLOOK QUALITY OF THE SERVICE FOR THEY PASSANGERS BEFORE AND AFTER FLIGHT. SPEAKING OF FLIGHT. Pros: "The staff, from airport to plane, were brilliant, the food was initially surprisingly nice, but by the time I'd been in transit long enough for the third meal, I just couldn't face it."
Cons: "The Seats were OK and the legroom was pretty bgood for economy, but the extra headrests on the larger Heatthrow/beijing aircraft came in at about shoulderblade height and made finding a truly comfortable position impossible. Definitely one to look at the price step ups for better seats in future."
Cons: "no wifi entire flight! stuff force you to turn off device after take off, even phone in airplane mode and self entertaining and playing cards not allowed. very bad english makes comunication hard and almost impossible order food or drink... they just bring watever and arguing about results in ( sorry no engliss). film selection horrible, old movies and 90% chinese. flight attendand skipped warm food after salad. only after reminding food was given! 0 requests after take off or during food if want any drink. you need literally flag down attendant to get your drink. if ordered tea, attendant asking you milk and sugar, you respond yes, you get then only tea no sugar or milk. after that nobody comes! accent were made to chinise pasdengers, more food or snaks were given or more comfort provided."

Cons: "Tight seats through out the flights. I am a regular Tea person. When I asked for tea they give the Chinese green/jasmine tea. I don't think they have regular Lipton or Irish Tea. I ordered Hindu meal, for a airplane food it was OK, it could be better. Only thing travelers need to know, Beijing customs/security has long lines and their security check is intense in the transit for the carry on luggage especially after a long tired flight. For this reason I am having a second thought about flying Air China via Beijing. Also, they have random check before boarding."

Pros: "Complimentary Movies with headphones provided were a plus. Tenants on the first flight were nice and accommodated me being a vegetarian with out any frustration. But the transfer flight with AirChina was not too happy about it. Meals were provided. If you are not vegetarian or find out how to put your name on a special request sheet it should go smooth."
Cons: "Seats were very narrow and seat by window wouldn't recline like other window seats. (No I was not by the exit.) I am a vegetarian. And asked for no meat. They didn't have a my name in a special request list. The crew member did know how I would be asked to be put on the list. I had a transfer flight with Air china to Dubai. The crew members in that flight were very rude even when I told them during boarding and a crew member came across with the special request sheet. Still no one could tell me how to put my name down as a special request to avoid any further confusion."
Pros: "This leg of the trip was ok but, overall, my experience on Air China was deplorable. They overbooked a flight, booked us on a later flight, and charged us $500 for the new booking. Their argument was that they did not realize we already had our boarding passes when they rebooked us. What?! The entertainment is very dated and so it the aircraft. The only redeeming aspect of this flight was the food. It was really good. Oh... and there are no outlets on the plane, which is not typically on flights to Asia. They also lost half of the passengers luggage."

Cons: "Two hours on the deck at Astana waiting take off in steaming humidity and not a word from the staff. They looked blankly at me when I asked to know what was going on. And then they told a bald faced lie. They failed in the service of a pre-ordered mea. in general a pathetic excuse for an airline."
Cons: "Our flight was delayed which caused us to miss our international connection. Flight attendants did not care, did not attempt to get us out faster, or put on a different flight. Asked for an announcement to be made on board or to be moved to seats closer to the front so we could get off the plane quicker, did not happen. Offboarded and sprinted across the airport for our international connection and was notified by gate attendents that the gate closed five minutes ago and that they could not let us on the plane. Meanwhile, the plane sat there for an additional 30 minutes while it fueled and waited for release from air traffic control. There were six travelers total stuck there in San Fran at that gate, all of us begging to be let on the plane to Beijing, the last one for over 24 hours. Zero compassion from staff at the the airline gate. They did not care about us and did not care about leaving their travelers stranded. Our total travel was Denver to Bangkok, 26 hours of travel including layovers in San Fran and Beijing. In San Fran (after missing the gate connection), we were rerouted us through Haiwaii and the customer service agent that did this reroute did not finish the reroute to our final destination. We got to Haiwaii and were stranded again, at the Air China service desk for four hours having to once again provide documentation of our initial travel plans to Bangkok, having them build a new itinerary to our final destination. Overall, 20 additional travel hours have been added to our itinerary, almost double our initial travel time. We have had to call and cancel pre-arranged bookings in Thailand as we are now missing two full days off our trip. I am absolutely disappointed and heart broken as I write this still stuck in the Beijing airport waiting another six hours to connect to Bangkok. My fiancé and I were traveling to Thailand to get married and have received no compassion from anyone at this airline to try and get us there. I am flat out disgusted by Air China."
Pros: "Food was good. and more leg room. Also gave you a pillow and blanket. Of course the flight to China was a much larger airplane a Boeing 747, where flight to Sfo was a 737-800 and a smaller Air bus. All my flights made it to destination on time. Or close to it. You should plan on at least 1&1/2 hours between transfers. SFO was under staffed at security long lines, and empty desks. Beijing & Soul airports had smaller lines. The Visa free transit at Beijing worked well."

Our flight was also delayed for four hours with no explanation, while we all sat on the plane waiting. Finally they made us all get off of the plane issued us new tickets and then we got back on. The whole process was rediculous. The seat space was smaller than usual and the plane was very dirty. It was also the worst airplane food I have ever tasted. Upon arriving at the ticketing counter at LAX, I was denied my boarding pass with the reason that I needed a transit visa. I did not need a transit visa as I hold a Malaysian passport. The ticketing agent was being unprofessional and told me to walk to the Eva air counter to purchase another ticket if I so desperately want to leave. I purchased a business class ticket and was being treated really rudely. I have contacted Air China customer service but they are not responsive or helpful in any way. I showed them the China embassy website stating that I do not need a transit visa and they called me the next day saying they are willing to reschedule my flight for another $700. I would like a full refund for the ticket I purchased. Thanks, Sue"

Cons: "Air China does not offer wifi on international flights. They also do not allow the use of cell phones during the entire flight, even if they are airplane mode. Their selection of movies was okay, but the archaic screen and audio system yielding a barely visible / audible mess that ruined the experience. The touch screen had lost most of its sensitivity and had to be operated by a remote that was falling apart. The inflight meal was absolutely revolting harkening back to the days when airline food was a complete joke. They only thing they really did right was not delaying the flight. I wasn't so lucky on my return flight..."

Cons: "i ordered the special vegetarian meal, while my son had the standard meals. The special meal was plain rice with a bit of steamed greens, my son's meal was the same plus a bit of chicken. Not much food for such a long flight, and no snacks are offered, so we were both hungry. (and we are not big eaters) We had planned to purchase food in the airport (LAX) but all the lines were quite long and we ended up not having enough time. Will definitely plan on bringing food and snacks with us on the return flight."

Cons: "Lack of communication - our flight was supposed to land in Beijing but we were redirected to another airport due to bad weather. After we had parked at the terminal of our temporary airport, we were told to wait further instructions from flight crew and the control tower. After about 40 minutes the plane started going towards the runway without any warning to passengers who had started getting luggage down, opened contents of carry on baggage and luggage, etc. It was jarring to say the least and luckily no one got hurt. Additionally, our flight from Beijing to Vancouver, BC was delayed by 8 hours. None of the gate or airport agents could tell us why or provide any alternatives to those of us with connecting flights. Not only did they not provide information, one of the gate agents gave us the wrong information (the local time at arrival). We missed our connecting flight and incurred significant expenses (hotel and purchase of 4 additional one way tickets). For the reasons listed above I will never chose air china and strongly urge any listeners/readers to avoid them at all costs!"

Cons: "The airline booked but connector with 2 hours from landing. The initial flight was delayed taking off. I advised the airline attendant that we were not going to make our connector and if she could alert the connecting flight. She told me no and to just try to make it. We walked up to the gate to see my flight to the states backing away from the concourse. No one was at the gate. IT took 2 1/2 hours to get through immigration to the airline desk and for them to tell me the next flight is the following day. I eventually got on another airline to get home. There was NO HELP whatsoever to get through this process."

Pros: "I was extremely pleased with the flight attendants. They were excellent at all times. Very professional and friendly. I was particularly surprised at their approach to any passenger who could potentially cause problems for the flight or other passengers. I'm American and to be frank, we are total jerks in flight. You tell an American to put away their mobile device and as soon as you turn your back they're back at it. Americans in general are unreasonable people. The flight attendants' approach to solving problems before they have an opportuniy to become problems was a sight to see, friendly, non-confrontational. They brought beverages around at regular intervals which was very comforting. Also, not only were blankets and pillows at every seat before takeoff, but they were fairly decent. Very comfortable. On a US carrier you can expect to be charged extra for any little thing, and so you don't even bother to ask for it. On Air China you don't have to worry about it."
