Flights from North America to Quebec: the best tips from KAYAK users

Insights shared by verified travellers who flew the route from North America to Quebec

Quebec City is a relatively small airport, making the entire process after landing smooth and easy. With no bag checked, I was outside waiting for my ride within 5 minutes of arrival. Highly recommend as an alternative to the long drive between the two cities.
JamieFlew with Air CanadaYYZ-YULApr 2025
I find Air Canada has the most options but isn’t always the cheapest. The flight is quick and easy. If you can fly later at night, I would because your commute to your final destination will also be quick and easy.
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaMSP-YULMar 2025
Even with tight (< 1 hour) connection in Montreal, there was ample time to get through customs and to the next gate. Very smooth.

Liked AC afternoon flight time. Got home in evening. (I hate red eye flights).

LGA to YUL is very easy. Highly recommended.

If leaving from Halifax, I always give at least 30-45 mins extra as I find security there extremely bad. In addition depending on the time of year there are less companies who fly in the off (winter) season. That leaves Air Canada and Porter. Their fares are comparable usually.

Fly Air Canada. On time, comfortable and reasonably priced.

“Meal” usually means more than a light snack. I thought what they served was an appetizer not the total meal. So I’d eat before or bring food.
MichaelFlew with Air CanadaBOS-YULFeb 2025
Very, very, long walk from arriving gate to departing gate.
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYOW-YULOct 2024
Checking luggage can be done online 24 hours before flight departure and you receive your boarding tickets. Both save you time Bring snacks in the plane. Anything you buy in the duty free zone you can bring with you when you board the plane, even restaurants left-overs
SuzanneFlew with Air CanadaYVR-YULOct 2024
If you’re going to connect international from Montreal it’s quite a distance between domestic arrival and the international gates, be prepared for that could be tight.

The RJ jet used on this route has very small luggage bins so ensure your carry-on is small.

AshleeFlew with Flair AirlinesFLL-YULNov 2024
Lack of signage for the airline was one of the issues. Poor customer service. Some guests were poorly checked in by staff and we're charged at the gate right before boarding. I've never seen that before. The worst airline experience for sure!
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYYG-YULAug 2024
Board early so you can actually secure a spot for your carry-on items near your seat. There's an $11 express bus from the airport to a major subway station downtown (and includes free transit service in the city for 24h), but the bus only takes exact change, so make sure you buy a ticket from the kiosk in the airport first.
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYQB-YULJun 2024
Delta for comfort and entertainment. I have to say, Air Canada is in my top 2 or 3 of airlines. The negative was lack of entertainment. Because my flights were short (under 3 hours), I couldn't partake in food, so no experience. This was my first time and I would go Air Canada again.

Should a flight leave over 2 hours late, an alternate flight on a different airline should be offered to ensure connecting flights are made. This was a 1 1/2 hour layover between the flights. I’m sure something could have been done to assist in getting me to my destination in time for the connecting flight.

If there is a connecting flight to the US register with the MCP app or have Nexus. Only 2 US customs stations open for a lot of people to check. Everyone was running to their flights. We had 2 hours in between our flights and we got thru just in time to board.
AbirFlew with Air CanadaSAN-YULMay 2024
Boarding was in time, everything was well organized and clearly follows set policies, although carry-on sizing is not appealing, offering free check to allow for more cabinet space is good. Immigration process was smooth, overall a good experience and it recommended.

I love the 2 seats per row. More room. The crew were excellent.

It was amazing although they did bump us up to the front which gave us more leg room and a meal. The service was great! The staff were friendly. :)

Overall very good... staff were friendly and helpful. boarding was good for the most part, but a little hard to get our carry-on bags on there.... I think people should be directed to keep their coats and small bags with them until all the carry-ons are loaded, and then, if there is space, they can put their small bags and coats up top.. makes it much easier to put baggage up. i loved the internet feature, but the entertainment was not there unless you have your own Netflix or similar platform. My chair did not recline, which was very annoying, and the arms won't go up near the isle, which makes it tough to get in and out of the seat.

Staff were excellant. Only snacks served. Some turbulence so we were offered Free beer or wine.

The staff is always great. Just the fact that our flight was the only one delayed from Halifax when all other carries were still flying. It happen a year ago out of Toronto as well. All others were flying but our flight got cancelled 1 hr before the time of departure.

The only issue had when i mentioned about comfort was the man beside me was on the larger side and took about 1/3 of my seat where i was pressed against the wall/window of the plane for the trip.

The check-in staff, boarding staff, and flight crew were all very friendly. Really miss the Porter lounge in Ottawa.

Thanks for giving a beer to everyone in the seat infront of me and then telling me that I can’t have one because they are going to land. I guess I need to pay for a seat and then pick one in the very front of the plane

The flight was delayed by more than one hour. The terminal was consequently overcrowded and hot. We lost our car reservation and hit rush hour traffic in Boston, which added two hours stuck in traffic to our trip.

Awesome, the whole way through. Thank you, this is the new Canadian Airline benchmark.

Over the wing seat at emergency exit only downside people using lavatory have no respect and wait in the space

Flight delayed any hour and couple of big gate changes

The pilot came out and chatted with the passengers. He explained why there was a slight delay. The crew was excellent. Very helpful. I had to buy meals for my whole family and they were in different seats, so the crew had to deal with that. They were very pleasant and accommodating and did a great job!

We were unable to land in Liberia. It was not the airline’s fault, but we had to be diverted to SJO.

We had things stolen from our luggage, we also were refused an upgrade on a flight that was not full.

When we left, it wasn't Great . People were drinking heavily, very disrespectful Extremely loud, the entire trip. I think the crew members, should have get their attention. Coming back was great.

I sat in the club. The seeds were fantastic. The meal was great and Entertainment was good. The crew was fantastic. I recommend it to everybody.

The food was small portions and not fresh. I was seated at the back of the plane so by the time the cart approached me most of the food options were sold out. The cabin crew was fantastic however.

Great flight and crew. Food isn't free and neither are headphones...

We were in economy class but paid for option Plus which offer you an extra snack after take off, free earplugs & blanket. The crew were very attentive. The comfort however wasn’t great, hard to be comfortable in such restraint place. Wasn’t able to sleep through out the 7hrs flight and was exhausted upon arrival.

The flight was ahead of schedule. A half glass of juice and a cookie is pathetic! No entertainment possibilities. Not even a plug-in for phone or IPad if you wanted to watch a downloaded movie. Back to flying Air Canada!

The flight was ahead of schedule. A half glass of juice and a cookie is pathetic!

Was on a Swoop plane. No wifi and no Westjet connect

It was good, flight was on time, boarding was smooth and done in zones, food was good too but there was no form of entertainment. Luggage’s were intact. So an overall good flight

The staff were the friendliest I have encountered in years. Absolutely great!

My husband required a wheelchair to get to the airplane and the service he received was exemplary. Thank you.

WestJet was able to re-book us to the next available flight at no charge when air traffic controller staffing shortage delayed our inbound flight

Plane changed to one with no entertainment system or ability to serve hot meals

Our flight was delayed for almost 2 hours resulting in a rush to connect to our next flight

I am a tall woman and could not move my legs enough to reach down under the seat in front of me to retrieve anything I put down there. I sat in both aisle and window seats and felt extremely cramped. In the aisle seat, if the stewardess was heavy, it was impossible to pass, and she would knock my arm shoulder and thigh every time she went by. If I can avoid it, I will not be flying this airline again.

Ground personnel in better mood. Sounded agressive wrt carry on bagage sizing.

We are extremely impressed with all aspects of flying with Air Canada.

Just kinda of a bus ride … we could do better. Delay in the flight :(

It was just ok, after a weather delay and had to take 3 planes in one day I asked for another cookie and she said no only one per passenger, found that a bit pity after spending my whole day in airports and planes

They delayed all our flights and lost our luggage flying to Tokyo, Japan. Worst experience I have had with any airline. DO NOT BOOK.

They did great as being my first time flying with them I will consider flying with them again on my next trip.

1. Nowhere to sit at the gate D4 2. No control of lining up in different zones 3. People pushing in during the line up of zones. 4. Certainly not in a dignified manner.

Both meals (chicken option for dinner and omelette for breakfast) were lacking in good texture and taste.

The experience with air Canada, was not really good, first they try to charge for the seat again in the counter after being paid in advance, second we have to wait for a hora inside the plane before departure for mechanics problems

It was great. Although when I got my luggage it was broken.

Leg room was terrible and seats very narrow. Flight was also delayed.

The worst airline experience that I ever had in my life. The fare was cheap but boy do you pay for it when it comes to baggages, carry-ons, food on board and lack of available staff at check-in. Almost every other passenger on my flight had the same complaints and experience. We all bonded discussing our displeasure. My husband and I will definitely not be traveling with Flair Airlines. We'll take anyone else.

The most uncomfortable plane I ever fly on. The seats won't even recline a little. For a 5 hrs flight at night and tired it felt like torture

Seats in 1 res are dispersed all over the plane, even child was across

Personally, I will not use this fight again. The service is poor, you have to buy even water. They don't provide anything even sneak, you have to buy. They said Personally items for 7 kg. Then they use some measurements, if you have 7kg and if it's not getting inside of their measurements, you have to pay 80$ this is robbery. I will prefer other flight then this. I am désappointement taking this airplane.

It’s a shameful company. It ask as to go to counter to take the boarding pass, they simply send it by email, just to check the bags’ size in a smaller than normal template. DONT USE FLAIR! It will be more expensive than normal airlines at the end.

flight was okay, no wifi, no free drinks but worst of all they lost my son's bike for four days. Customer service was nonexistent - call a number that leaves you on perpetual hold, there's no baggage folks in the baggage claims area (in vancouver). we went up to international and nobody was at ticketing, went to domestic and they had us fill out a form. they could not tell us where the bag was. Anyway, highly recommend you drop an airtag for anything that's worth more than $500. My son's bike costs a lot more than that to replace; I was on pins and needles for four days.

The crew of this flight, specially the flight attendant in the front were the sweetest I’ve had in all my life, I genuinely hope they get a race or sum cuz of their efforts. It was just quite unsettling that the flight took so long to departure. It was supposed to leave at 10:35pm and we ended up taking off at 11:22pm…👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

It’s bare bones but was on time so can’t complain.

Of all the countries I've flown to and airlines from around the world, I have never had such a dismissive an arrogant employee during boarding. After waiting in line for 20 minutes to board, I was sent to a second line for Passport verification. Natalie from Flair, repeatedly tried to scan my passport which didn't work for some reason but was too lazy to input my information manually. Bar code scanners aren't 100% reliable as we all know. She asked me my birthdate 3 times, made me wait to be the last person aboard and then smugly threatened me that my only bag could be charged for (same backpack I used as on my arrival as carry on). Natalie working in Ft. Lauderdale and the was the epitome of lobotomized tiktok brain with the charm of junk mail.
