Flights from Quebec to North America: the best tips from KAYAK users

Insights shared by verified travellers who flew the route from Quebec to North America
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYUL-YQBMar 2025
Quebec City is a relatively small airport, making the entire process after landing smooth and easy. With no bag checked, I was outside waiting for my ride within 5 minutes of arrival. Highly recommend as an alternative to the long drive between the two cities.
ShereenFlew with KLMApr 2025
It’s handy to book the KLM bus service when booking your flight to Montreal.
AndrewFlew with Air CanadaYUL-LGAMar 2025
Make sure you know where you're going - if this is your first time, slow down and take a moment, it can be overwhelming. Also ubers anywhere are massively more expensive!
Verified travelerFlew with United AirlinesYUL-IADMay 2025
Be attentive to the location of shuttle for going to the other terminal
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYUL-LGAMar 2025
Get get to the airport early in case there are problems with immigration
JordanFlew with Air CanadaYUL-LAXMar 2025
Buy ticket early. This is a very overpriced route that Air Canada monopolizes. In one day my one way ticket jumped from $325 or so to $535 USD.
JasonFlew with Porter AirlinesYUL-YHZDec 2024
If you are taking a carry-on, Porter offers a great service where before you board the plane they have Porter Gate service where they will take your carry-on and when you arrive at your destination your carry-on will be waiting for you outside the plane. So you do not have to worry about the overhead and not having space.
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYUL-BOSSep 2024
I didn't realize that I would go through US customs in Montreal (and not when I landed in Boston). That was convenient.
YefimFlew with United AirlinesYUL-JFKOct 2024
JFK is under construction and it takes forever to get to terminals: huge traffic due to closed lanes because of it.
HibaFlew with Porter AirlinesYUL-SFOAug 2024
People with kids or disabilities should be informed that boarding this flight requires taking stairs and a bus. Also, although this was over 5 hr flight, we were only served tiny snack bag and a drink. WiFi was great👍.
PeterFlew with United AirlinesYUL-BOSJul 2024
If you have a rolling carry-on, you'll be lucky to get it into an overhead on this EMBRAER 175. Many are gate-checked.
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYUL-MIAJul 2024
if you have a carryon, bring onboard- the Miami airport takes a long time to get the bags into the carroussel aftwr you land
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYUL-LAXAug 2024
US bound terminal has very few good options and one lounge that’s always over capacity. Make sure to eat well before getting there.
MargaretFlew with Air CanadaYUL-YYZJul 2024
I wish I knew how big Toronto Pearson is and the distance you need to walk when making cross boarder connections.
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYUL-YVRAug 2024
Get up early if your flight gets cancelled the day before. Gonna be many people at the airport.
JaneFlew with Air CanadaYUL-PHLAug 2024
Have some food/snacks available because there is a high chance the flight will delay
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYUL-YYZAug 2024
Dont layover during midnight at Montreal airport as they close it and they get you out of the waiting area in the gate after 1:30am and also the connecting flights gets you out and then you have to depart from beginning
Steven AnthonyFlew with United AirlinesYUL-ORDAug 2024
Don't take the 6am flight. Airport security and customs only open at 430am. So if you show up the recommended 3 hours before, you're waiting in line for nothing
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYUL-YYZJun 2024
As for baggage checked in, you are better off carrying it on board or FedEx it to your destination than rely on AC to handle your luggage.
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYUL-YVRMay 2024
People should go to airport at least 90 minutes before the boarding. The security check in the Montreal airport is slow and the lines are long. We were only in the domestic flights terminal. There are a lot of cafe you can buy food after security check, but very limited number of shops there. The lounge in the Montreal airport for domestic flights - business class serves hot breakfast, which is good, but nothing special. We received our suitcases in Vancouver very fast and even faster got on taxi. Great job.
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYUL-SEAMay 2024
The flight itself is fine as long as there is entertainment and food service I would recommend bringing your own cushion to sit on the seats are just not comfortable. Padding is virtually none
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYUL-YVRMay 2024
Plan for rush hour when driving to the airport, Be aware that signage for returning rental cars is poor.
Verified travelerFlew with United AirlinesYUL-ORDApr 2024
Come prepared with your own entertainment as the flight did not offer in flight entertainment
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYQB-YULMay 2024
It’s a short flight less than an hour bring a cushion for your bottom. The seats are terrible and hard.
ROSEMARY JOFlew with Air CanadaYUL-LAXJan 2024
Purchase your own food in the terminal after security to bring on the plane with you with a large bottle of water
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYUL-YFCJan 2024
If you want food options while you wait don’t wait until you go to your gate, flights to Fredericton leave an area of the Montreal airport with not many food options

The plane was filthy!!!! There were empty food wrappers in the pockets and worst of all a wad of hair where someone had obviously brushed their hair, cleaned out the brush and left the wad of hair in the pocket. It was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen!! The seats are so crammed together with NO leg room. The AC vent controllers do not adjust. I will likely not book another AC flight from Florida to Montreal.

Great entertainment choices. The crew was extremely kind and accommodating. My remote control did not work. Too little space between seats. Arm rests only go up a few inches making less comfortable.

Registered my luggage at 5pm. Arrived at JFK at 1:00 am. Worst trip ever. Never again

I had a great experience at YUL Air Canada. The service was top drawer as I needed help to board.

Air Canada never runs on time. You’re lucky if your flight is not cancelled or diverted. Worst airline in the world for gas lighting its customers.

Service Director cut all cabin lights and window screens defaulted to dark, but it was an afternoon flight going west. I spent hours trying to see what was reading as reading lights weren't working either. What the hell.

The food could have been better. The flight attendant was the friendliest and most helpful I have ever had.

Almost no food given on a 5-hour flight (only a cookie, which is almost a joke). Boarding was a mess (as always, in Montreal boarding by zones is chaotic and the lines are a total mess). The entertainment system was old and with a limited selection.

Very nice comfortable spacy Airbus 321. I liked the offer of food on the Bistro menu. The idea is very good to pay and cost was low.

Received email saying that there won’t be a seat back entertainment screen and inflight WiFi would be available. But no WiFi both ways. Say it in the email.
