Cons: "Once made, the lie flat seats are extremely comfortable. However, it's a bit of a hassle to get the bed made. Also the seats don't offer as much privacy as seats on other carriers (AA, UA, LH etc). If they changed the seats, the airline can compete with any other, as the crews are superb."

Pros: "We flew Air Canada’s Economy Plus from Vancouver to Sydney and Air New Zealand’s Economy Plus from Auckland back to Vancouver. NZ’s Economy Plus product is far and above AC’s. Everything from the welcome, to the meal, to the level of service is great. I really felt that NZ treated the Econ Plus cabin as distinct from Economy (including having 2 dedicated washrooms), whereas on AC it felt like we were merely Economy with better seats. I compare NZ and AC because we were so genuinely impressed with what we purchased. We would definitely book NZ Econ Plus again, and the January seat sale is a great time to do so!"

Pros: "Air New Zealand plane was newer and crew was helpful and gracious. Connection to Glasgow was a disaster mostly caused by our airline changing to British Airways to Glasgow. Because our LAX yo LHR flight arrived a bit late, we missed our flight to GLA and had to wait nine hours to get seats on another flight from LHR to GLA. No accomodations were made for us. We had to manage nine hours in LHR with a 4 year-old -- we had no other choice."

For a long, overseas flight, more space is needed. I had more legroom on my domestic flight with United. Also, the airline attendants for Air NZ were unpleasant and downright grumpy at times. It made a long, uncomfortable flight seem a whole lot longer."

I especially liked the bloody Mary mix with the lime packet. That was so delicious! Used to traveling other airlines where they have individual screens for each seat. Alaska does it different and you have to have your own device in order to access their media content."

Cons: "So, this plane was a Virgin America aircraft taken over by Alaska since the merger. My fiance and I were on a red eye non-stop to Philly from LAX. That said, the plane was in terrible condition. The seat back in front of my seat was broken and hanging down on my knees, there was no opportunity for entertainment unless you brought your own plug in headphones (none on the plane to use or purchase), we purchased upgraded seats and when we checked in the night before were told they were not available and we would be in economy (still waiting for that $200 refund 7 days later), the arm rest between our seats was broken and would not stay up, the headrest of my seat was broken and there was exposed metal, and when we purchased champagne to celebrate our vacation it was warm. One other item I noticed was the woman across the aisle's seat would not sit upright. She was asked to move to another seat for both take off and landing. Not sure if this was a Virgin America crew of Alaska, but terribly disappointed iin the crews lack of care and would not fly them again across country if this is what is to be expected."

I didn’t like that the on board ordering system offers free earbuds, yet the flight attendant said they did not have any. When I boarded my return fligh, the flight attendant that was supposed to be creating us was scrolling through her phone didn’t even make eye contact. When I was getting off of the plane. That same flight attendant was sitting in a first class seat scrolling through her phone again, she did look up to thank us though. Overall the plane was nice, but the I wasn’t disappointed with the flight attendants service"

Then the front desk staff could only help to switch to row 12 and row 13. We’re still not together. That’s horrible. Then when we got on the plane, I asked people around if they don’t mind to switch their seats, but still not working well. The flight attendants didn’t help at all. Just saying, “this is the best we can do.” What did they do? They didn’t even help me to work it out. Then one of the front desk staff came onto the plane and help me out. My son and I finally sit together. But the overall experience sucks! Alaska Airlines needs to train their crew to have more emphatic to the passengers."

Cons: "We arrived at the airport 5 minutes (NO more than that) after the one hour check in time to fly international going to Mexico. We were told we had to wait in line to speak with someone to print a boarding pass. There was an extremely long line with only two employees helping. We then asked if we could get our money back being that if someone has specially helped us with our case only being 5 minutes late to check in, but they declined. We had to book an entirely different flight and still have not gotten our money back. It was very stressful and unprofessional and had someone actually helped us, we would’ve arrived at our destination at the proper time we worked so hard for. I know my boyfriend and I weren’t the only people with his problem because two other families ran into the exact same avoidable problem. It felt very unprofessional. It ruined a familys vacation and caused the poor children to cry because of the lack of accommodation. We would love our money back but not sure you guys will even do so. Very disappointing."
Cons: "I didn't make it because the flight to LAX was late and despite being told by an Avianca employee there was a later flight from LAX to PDX (at 11:45 on AlaskaAir) which I would be put on, once I arrived I was told I was on a 6 AM on Delta with no arrangement to get me a hotel or anything. I bought a separate ticket on that 11:45 flight on Alaska Air to PDX instead. Extremely unhappy with this service and will never again use it. I will also tell everyone in my social circles, in person and online, to stop using it."
Pros: "Flying Alaska airlines is always something I have a bittersweet relationship. I love almost everything that Alaska does to improve their airline. Their wifi is some of the best in the US and its very affordable. Their "picnic box" snacks are awesome and unique, better than what you will find elsewhere, they have USB and full AC outlets at every seat, and their rewards program is the best in the business. By all accounts, AlaskaAir would be my favorite airline out there. But the staff that Alaska hires is just so terrible. Everytime I fly with them, they have simply the worst staff. Pair this with some of the best features of any airline and it leaves me scratching my head on whether or not I want to fly with them or to fly with an airline like Delta which might have fewer frills, but offers much better staff to help you."

Suffice it to say, we made it and that is never a small accomplishment for which I am always genuinely grateful and appreciative to the pilots, the crew, the engineers and builders of these large metal tubes with wings that continually and mostly consistently manage to defy the laws of gravity by propelling groups of human beings across large stretches of land and over water. Why wouldn't I be happy?"

Cons: "Only one thing: when using the kiosk to get my boarding pass and upgrade, it doesn't specifically state to insert and quickly remove my credit card, so I'm waiting waiting waiting and nothing is happening and I start over and still nothing, so I go wait in line at the desk that solves problems only to learn that small detail and then the clerk said he couldn't take care of it for me and sent me back to the kiosk! What a pain! I'm sure I'm not the only one this has happened to. How hard is it to put clear instructions on the screen? please and thank you!"
Pros: "Alaska Airlines continues to do it rite! To my surprise, while checking in my 60 lb bag of surfboards, I was only charged $25, not the already low price of $75 I am usually charged. This new discounted price enabled me to save $100 round trip on board charges. Unlike other airlines that charge $100 Per surfboard, Alaska Airlines has implemented a program that serves the sports enthusiasts. From surfers, golfers, hunters, fisherman, and so on. Our gear goes with us for a fantastic price. Also, the food is actually pretty tasty too & the flight attendants treat you well."
Pros: "Found the crew to be friendly and relaxed. The plane was fairly new. Overall, it went fine as long as you understood it was going to be simple offerings."
Cons: "Apparent aggressiveness to get as many carry on bags paid for by the ground staff measuring with a measuring tape all bags. I've never seen anything like it. My bag was fine. Then, when they started to take fees you had to come back and pay. It wasn't done right then. The ground staff was minimally helpful. Flight amenities or not, pay for headset and having more than 2 TV shows and 2 movies cost you an up charge even on an overseas flight. One choice for dinner.- pasta so it was vegetarian. Breakfast was a sad roll, one small piece of cheese and ham, and fruit that was that questionable. Overnight flight, pillow no blanket in Economy. Seats hard and leg room was tight. Their Economy plus and business looked a much better way to go."
Cons: "The website wouldn't complete online check in so I arrived early (0415 for a 0600 flight). The kiosks were mobbed and several were not functioning. Only one poor staff member was there to assist literally hundreds of irate passengers. The line for check in at the desk with live assistants was also several hundred people long. I finally got my boarding pass and bag tags at 0517. Then the bag drop off was broken. One poor staff member with an I pad was trying to scan all the checked luggage. I was directed to leave my bags against a wall and hope that they would make my final destination. Obviously people were anticipating not having luggage at their destinations and were opening bags to remove a few items of clothing. I finally got to the tsa check point at 0533 and begged my way to the head of the line (thank god for global entry and tsa precheck! And a thank you to all the people at lax that let me jump the queue) The flight itself was lovely. I slept until landing. Alaska airlines, please hire more staff."
Cons: "Flight was delayed from LAX to PDX. Also there were a handful of people (myself included) that had to catch a tight connection in PDX. The flight attendants should have announced for people to stay seated upon landing to let those few get through that had only a few minutes to make the next flight, but they did not so it took 15-20 minutes to disembark which was very frustrating."
Pros: "This was our first time using Alaska Airlines and they were great! Checking in online was easy. Flight attendants and other staff were friendly and seemed to have your best interest in mind. My husband and I had a 20 hour layover in LA coming back from Costa Rica and we asked if we would have to pay another fee to recheck our bag for the second flight. They were very understanding and waived the fee since our overnight stay in LA was technically a layover and we had previously made the whole reservation for both flights at once using their company. Overall we liked our experience with Alaska and would definitely use them again!"

Cons: "There was a 20 minute flight delay before we boarded. They announced there were mechanical difficulties, which took further time. After we left the gate, we were told that our pilots had timed out and we would need to return to the gate to get a new crew. We taxied for a long time back to the gate, then there were further delays while they added the gas they had used in taxiing. In the end, we arrived more than 2 hours late. It is hard to understand why they didn't anticipate this and replace our pilots before we left the gate. This was the return part of a round trip ticket; there was also a more than 2 hour delay on our earlier flight due to mechanical difficulties."

By far, the best airline ive flown upon was alaska. customer service was so friendly from start to finish, the employee who checked in our luggage (who was incredibly professional with an very frustrated guest behind me in line, while managing to not alienate my wife and i), ro the flight attendants who were prompt, responsive, and efficient in hydrating the passengers. My wife is uncomfortable with flying, and their demeanor with every aspect of their work made her feel safer and, at least, a little bit more relaxed. Thank you."

Cons: "The boarding process was very sloppy. The boarding person made very little to no announcements regarding boarding procedures. He then made everyone who had lined up in general boarding line exit the line and then finally turned on the sign that said preferred boarding. Then the same thing happened again. He could have saved all of us and including himself lots of frustration if he had just made an announcement regarding the boarding process with directions when he was about to start boarding. Everyone was left without clear directions. Big let down to start my experience with Alaskan airlines."

But Alaska had me pay 25$ handling for each checked bag ( I had two) which amounted to 200,oo for all the flights I took, 2 hotels I reserved thru them, and travel insurance I took thru. Them flight times were not the most convienient, but I expected that due to costs. Except for BWI wheelchair service was excellent and timely. I let Alaska know, they have not responded. On my last flight I was not charged handling for bags since I had printed out tags before coming to the airport. If I had known, I would have done that for all flights but since we needed to go to service desk for wheelchair arrangements, I did not."

Free WiFi for onboard movies on personal devices is convenient but without even basic explanation of the service is awkward and not likely to be used."

I explained the hold up and assured her I was on my way to make the flight within 5-6 minutes. I made it to the gate 12 minutes before scheduled flight take-off and she told me I missed the cutoff by 1 minute and that my seat was given to a standby passenger. I was told this by the person who called me. Administrator explained the policy and I had to take a different flight. Not happy about that."

Even the side bread was like a rock. The coffee that was served after the meal was cold. This kind of service is unacceptable on a 16hr trans Atlantic flight. If you issue tickets with short connection times, it is your responsibility to make sure passengers will have adequate time to make it to their next gate. Or airline should provide some assistance to these passengers. Making them run is unacceptable."

The customs area red jacketed help personnel told us that it was just as fast to go throught the general customs are instead of using our Nexus cards and this turned out to take forever. So very disappointing."

Not all travellers carry accepted credit cards, including the woman sitting beside me. Because it is so common (formally standardized) for airlines to provide food on longer flights, many travellers assume their WestJet flight will the same and arrive unprepared. I normally love WestJet for their customer service, but these flight attendants talked down to customers with legitimate questions. I am choosing another airline for my next international flight, although reluctantly so - I hope to see some changes from WestJet for a more comfortable flight."

But the worst part as after landing we waited for a very long time for the plane to pull up to a gate (unnecessarily burning fuel and poluting the environment). And finally we waited another very long time for the doors of the plane to be opened for disembarkation. More than 3/4 of an hour waiting on the ground after a one hour flight very late in the evening. As a result I hat to take a cab home from the airport. Now I will try my best to not fly Westjet."

Cons: "Well, they mixed up my check-in luggage during transit. As a result it got delayed and I had to spend the night without it. Although, I was informed about this miss when I landed in Vancouver, the team did not seem to feel particularly bad about it. Also, the process of getting reimbursed for the predefined expenditure allowance needs to be more efficient. Ideally, in such cases, the airlines should not only refund the check-in fee, but also provide a prepaid card to make any urgent purchases. Their current process requires one to bear the expenses initially, scan/click and send the original receipts and await a response from their baggage team. I am waiting to hear back from them on my submission."

Landed at YVR, went to WJ to find out about luggage. Told me I have to get a hold of Qantas. They had nothing to do with it. Went to Qantas was sent to a place that was closed. Two days later got a call from WJ asking why I didn't pick up my luggage. I told him the story. He kept saying why didn't I go to them. Because I was told it was Qantases fault. Got luggage 2 days later, damaged. I'm thinking maybe the case fell off the conveyor belt while loading in Melbourne ."

Best advice - fly Air Canada - these guys do not deserve your money!"
Cons: "The pilot on the Honolulu flight to Vancouver left some documents at the hotel and he had to go back to get them therefore delaying our flight to vancouver. This caused a lot of passengers connection flights delayed and rebooked to another flight later on that day. No apologies or compensation of time wasted was given. Food vouchers would have been nice. The new boarding passes provided also pushed most of us passengers back to the last seats at the back of the plane.. which was a very uncomfortable experience."

No more flights to Penticton, so I had to take a flight to Kelowna after 6:00pm or fly the next day. I met a couple to share a ride to Penticton once I reached Kelowna. My luggage was lost in Calgary and so I went on to Penticton, to Osoyoos. The next day, West Jet delivered my suitcase to me. I appreciate the voucher I was given to buy a few things and the promptness of my luggage. We live in Canada, the weather in the winter can be quite an annoyance and so it was last week."

Cons: "-Inbound flight arrived late, our flight departed even later. Not the staff's fault that two separate parties had ID/security issues, but I've seen staff at other airports walk along the line and review ID before boarding starts and it prevents those issues from delaying the flight. -Short flight = crappy snacks. Nacho sticks or dry coffee cookies, both pretty unpalatable."
Cons: "I'm a bit disappointed by the services provided by Westjet: 1) I never received the confirmation of my fight/booking from Westjet; 2) I was not aware that the connecting from LA to SJ and SJ to LA were operated by different companies therefore I was not able to check in or even to check the gate information at the airport. I almost missed my flight from SJ to LA in the early morning 3) at the SJ airport, I was not aware that the flight from SJ to LA was operated by Delta not American airline. However, the Westjet customer services 1-888 number listed in your Kayak confirmation was not a correct number. I even tried to look up another customer services number of Westjet by searching the Westjet website, the number I found was not in service neither. I almost missed my flight from SJ to LA 4) At the LA airport I was told that I was not able to board the flight because I did not have the Canadian ETA. they said they would pull my checked luggages and flight them with my re-scheduled flight and will be shipped to the final destination Vancouver, Canada. when I arrived Vancouver, both suitcases were not arrived with my flight. One arrived with my original flight and the second were missing. The agent could not even tell me where the suitcase was. Moreover, the second did not arrive the time I was told it should arrive. My second suitcase was not allocated even before I left Vancouver to Europe one day after my travel. 5) No one responded to the luggage services number provided in the document. I could only successfully login to the link for the checking the status after I returned home in Brussels. 6) I was told that the second suitcase will be delivered to my home in Europe by another company. Currently I'm still waiting for my second suitcase."

Cons: "No entertainment unless you paid for wifi, but with a less than two hour flight the price was rediculous. There was no food or drink, other than water or coffee, unless you wanted to pay almost $2 for a mini can of pop."
Cons: "Even though it is a short flight, it would be nice to see a movie and not have to pay for it. I downloaded the Westjet App and started watching the movie, before take-off, while there was still internet access. Once the flight took off, you had to pay to view the movie from the App. Silly!!!!"
Pros: "When I missed my flight by 5 minutes due to AA failure at the gate. The woman at the westjet gate was super friendly and kind to me. She gave me a good seat and meal vouchers to get me through the night. Unlike AA who could not care less."
