Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Cons: "More space in the seat would’ve been better"
Pros: "Seat was roomier. Food was good."
Pros: "Never got on flight."
Cons: "No delays and compensation for inconvenience. Paid extra for seat upgrade which I never sat in."
Pros: "Crew was amazing. I was traveling with my 11 month old and they were super helpful and very friendly."
Cons: "I was bummed that this plane didn’t have TVs at each seat. You were able to stream all kinds of free movies and shows on the United app but I was holding a baby on my lap and couldn’t use my phone as well."
Cons: "To actually be on it would’ve been awesome"
Pros: "Great crew."
Cons: "100 minute delay due to "schedule disruption", despite no weather issues."
Pros: "Food was actually quite decent"
Cons: "In-seat entertainment systems malfunctioned for roughly half the flight, which was quite disappointing"
Cons: "The unplanned layover in HNL was very poorly handled."
Pros: "Boarding and meal"
Cons: "Service in first class and the heavy turbulence could of reached a warning from the pilot"
Pros: "Crew were great, especially considering we had a couple of mishaps travelling with a five year old and five month old. Despite being a mega long flight it was comfortable and we were well looked after."
Cons: "Seats are a little narrow on the exit rows and bulkhead as the armrests accommodate the TV and tables. This also means they can’t be moved. Not unique to Air NZ though."
Pros: "Not much, no internet, small seats, cost doubled because I had to know pay hotel for a night."
Cons: "Flight was 4 hrs late arriving, therefore I missed my connection flight to Dallas. I had to spend the night at a cost of $200.00 at Holiday Inn, arrived 24 hrs later. Not United fault, weather related. This is my 3rd United flight that was delayed by hours. Get first flight out in morning, less chance for hours of delay."
Pros: "I got super lucky and had three seats to myself, it's a long flight just over 12hrs and good sleep is precious. The entertainment options were excellent and I watched some great first run movies. Food was quite good with options, beverage service standard. Restrooms were readily accessible and "clean.""
Cons: "We left SFO an hour late waiting for a handful of late passengers - good for them though, eh? The rest of the passengers on plane were packed in like sardines. Seemed to me that too much space on plane dedicated to the premium 'cabins' for the uber rich, but they were interesting to look at."
Cons: "Check in clerk was mean nasty and said several times we could not fly because we didn’t have our tickets rather then helping us use the airport printer to print our tickets she said you can’t print you ticket until you show me your ticket. She should be fired it was united airlines won’t fly them again"
Pros: "Quick and uneventful flight."
Cons: "My reading light didn't work."
Pros: "I liked that it was a short flight and that the over-head bins were big enough for my backpack."
Cons: "I didn't like that my friends, who bought their tickets at the same time I did, with their own cards and checked in at the same time as me, didn't get a seat number. I had one assigned when my ticket printed out, after I checked in at the airport after they did. They had to wait until boarding was almost complete before they were afforded a seat. Seemed really strange. With United already having a bad name from recent stories on the news, it made us worry. Don't like worrying when it has anything to do with an airplane."
Pros: "On time, good servicw"
Cons: "Seats not very comfortable"
Pros: "Awesome and helpful crew"
Cons: "Reservation was deleted so check in took a very long time and my seat (reserved weeks in advance) on the long international flight was reassigned to a very undesirable location. Food was not good, and drink service was only done twice on 17 hour flight. It took an hour to start taxiing after we were all seated and left the gate."
Cons: "The worst airport customer service rebooking agent experience I ever had in my life. They had seats on the flight I had the booking on but wouldn't let me go just because there was less than an hour left in the flight, still in the bag check window. Ver very bad agents at the rebooking desk"
Pros: "See above"
Cons: "See above"
Cons: "Flight cancelled with no explanation."
Pros: "As always with United you know what to expect being a Silver Star Alliance member."
Cons: "It was a normal United flight, good, but not outstanding - in coach class - it is one of the most reliable national carriers."
Pros: "One ground agent worked hard to communicate what decision the airline had made regarding the flight delay in response to aircraft malfunction. His words helped establish a priority on which passages need to be rebooked"
Cons: "Flight Attendant communication was less than professional. Speed, pitch, and I found it generally annoying"
Cons: "Paid extra for carry on,couldnt sit by my wife,no screens but even if there was you now have to pay for an inflight movie, sucked"
Pros: "My experience with Air Canada was all around pleasant. I would definitely fly with them again. Any negative aspect during my travels was due to their partner United Airlines."
Cons: "If flying within the States we used United Airlines; a partner of Air Canada. The flight itinerary changed numerous times before our departure, including two days before we left. The change added an additional layover, and put us at our destination nearly 6 hours later than out original booking. This meant we lost a decent portion of the first day of our honeymoon. However, we were forced to stay an extra day when our return flight was cancelled. After spending 8 hours in the airport we were informed that our Monday flight was cancelled, and the next available flight would not be until Wednesday! United Airlines let us down on the way to our destination and on our trip home. Air Canada was great, but I dread having to use their partner United Airlines."
Pros: "Flight was on time. Process of going through customs in Halifax instead of Newark was very efficient. I didn't order food or use inflight entertainment."
Pros: "The surprising extra legroom from economy seats."
Cons: "I fly out of Halifax once a week and the flight has let 4 hours late two weeks in a row with out compensation. I missed my connection flight and was forced to sleep in airport. Never again Delta all the way."
Pros: "On time."
Cons: "Uncomfortable seats"
Pros: "The crew was phenomenal."
Cons: "My assigned seat was terribly uncomfortable! I was able to move, but seriously, you should not sell a seat that bad!"
Pros: "Excellent crew"
Cons: "I had to pay an extra 155 for a seat in back of 1st class!!"
Pros: "Woman fligh attendant was extremely nice."
Cons: "When a PA announcement came on, and I had my earphones on while watching a movie, the announcement was extremely loud in my ears."
Pros: "Crew worked hard and were terrific."
Pros: "Comfortable seats, decent drink options"
Cons: "Boarded late. There were no seats at the gate so everyone had to just stand around waiting to board. No announcement or apology. Took 25 minutes after we landed for the first bag to come down the chute at baggage claim. My first class dining options were chips, pretzels, or a banana. Short flight but still."
Cons: "On at least one leg of my trip both two and from my destination the flight was late. As if that wasn't bad enough, twice the plane was over sold and people had to be removed to stay and catch a later flight which in turn made the plane even later. Many people either had to run to catch their connection or missed it all together. Several of which had small children. I fly about half a dozen times a year and this was the worst of the year."
Pros: "We were ontime boarding ,taking off, and arriving at OKC. GREAT FLIGHT."
Cons: "WE DIDN'T NEED ENTERTAINMENT. FLIGHT WAS SHORT"
Cons: "I do not like this survey. Where can I answer that I did not experienced the entertainment? I have no idea if it was any good"
Pros: "Plenty of leg room."
Cons: "Loud guy sitting behind us was all."
Pros: "1st flight left on time and was comfortable."
Cons: "2nd flight missed due to multiple flights from gate 130. No seats close to gate. Speakers not loud enough. Garbled speakers. To much background noise. Very confusing. Was able to rebook later flight but very inconvenient and not optimum."
Pros: "Plane leaving SFO never showed. Airlines called for a replacement plane 4 hours after scheduled dep time. Never using United again if it can be helped."
Cons: "See remarks."
Pros: "Overall, this was an OK flight; nothing to brag about."
Cons: "The flight attendant told me that I did not need to collect my bag in Toronto and that it would automatically be sent onward to Halifax. DO NOT BELIEVE THIS. All United passengers arriving in Canada MUST manually gather their luggage at baggage claim in Toronto and clear customs manually. ONLY Air Canada has this automatic option. Even if the United flight has an Air Canada code share United passengers MUST clear customs manually. How hard is this for flight attendants to understand?"
Pros: "The boarding went smooth on both flights. I even got a refill on coffee for the first time."
Cons: "Why don't you have review questions about TSA and the airport?"
Pros: "United Staff very helpful. When initial flight was cancelled, attempts were made to book on anther flight. Unfortunately unsuccessful"
Cons: "After three on-time flights from the other side of the world, I was stuck in Chicago for a 3 hour delay. The flight finally arrived at Reagan 2 minutes after the runway closed so we were rerouted to a different airport where we finally landed 4 hours late."
Cons: "My flight was two hours delayed and overbooked so I have up my seat and united ensured we'd get to slo asap but ended up not leaving lax until 8:00."
Cons: "We were frustrated because we chose United flights but then got put on Island air from Maui to Honolulu who has completely different baggage guidelines and ended up costing us quite a bit more because our carry-ones weren't 16 lbs or below. I don't like things like that, so I wasn't very happy with that part of the trip. I don't think that is United's fault-probably Kayak's. Flying in general just isn't pleasant anymore. The crews aren't happy or fun and they've gotten so cheap on everything, and charge you out the nose for everything. The airplanes weren't clean. My 2 year old had to brush off a seat of crumbs on her seat before she sat down! Just sad where it's gotten in this crazy world. We used to love to fly, and now we are just always glad to be done with the flights!"
Pros: "Check in 24 Hrs before by phone and upgrade to Economy Plus for me and my husband - we were returning from a ski trip ( we fly twice a year Bs Aires-Calgary during the ski season)."
Cons: "On our return, check in ground staff tell us we can NOT check in skis and boot bags, not even paying. The reason was unknkwn but that is what the system was indicating ... We purchased RT tickets, flew from BsAires to Calgary without a glitch, skis and boot bags, in addition to one checked bag and s small carryon each. For no reason we were denied the possibility to check in ski equipment and provided no reason or solutiion. This was also not a full flight"
Pros: "The flight was quick and smooth. Boarding was simple and everyone was surprisingly chipper for 6am. We even arrived in NJ 20 minutes early! Great trip"
Pros: "I just missed my flight by a few minutes. The crew was very helpful for booking me in the next flight."
Cons: "No entertainment at all."
