Cons: "In-flight entertainment was lacking good selection of English movies."
Cons: "Flight delay was a pain from LAX to Nanjing."
Pros: "Crew was very helpful with boarding and very friendly and hard-working."
Cons: "Entertainment system kept resetting duing the first couple of hours during the flight but otherwise was good."
Pros: "I hated the airline!"
Cons: "The food was terrible and the staff was not nice at all. Worst airline."
Pros: "I liked the foods serviced and kind crews. The flight departed on time. The atmosphere of cabin was quiet."
Cons: "The services of the flight information and the slot of earphone was not working."
Cons: "Absence of jet-way, unclean flight bad restrooms staff didn't speak or understand english"
Pros: "Lots of room”for stuff”, so you aren’t digging in your attaché case all the time, almost like a desk area. We had eaten prior to departure so I asked to be served the meal later and they had no problem."
Cons: "We did not receive the seats we chose months prior when we originally booked. The crew was not engaged and unhelpful. There were no veggie options so we did not eat. We received buns and desert. Terrible service overall."
Cons: "They ran out of everything but a nasty fish. There were also lots of completely empty rows with other rows totally stuffed with strangers.... I was in a row with young kids (not mine!) and the 2 rows behind me were totally empty.... I did not have the option to choose seats before getting my boarding pass"
Cons: "Terrible flight that I never had"
Pros: "It is basically whats its worth i couldnt complain"
Cons: "They should add more amenities like slippers, toothbrush but its all good for what its worth"
Pros: "Crew were really fantastic. Very accommodating on requests."
Cons: "First time i flew early in day to vietnam.. not airlines fault just threw me off"
Pros: "Stood in line from 11.45 for 2.15 flight. Just one junior person handled multiple airlines. Nom chinese passports were moved to the side and we got bording pass at 1.55 with a boarding time pf 1.45!!!. Two women had behind the counter had some personal fight and some ego clash on who’s responsibilty to serve the people held waiting in side. We couldnt make it on time... One bus for a a330 full of passengers. Horrible food"
Pros: "Bathroom was clean."
Cons: "Seats were uncomfortable. Seats did not have individual tv screens. There was no variety in the meals provided during the flight."
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "If anything goes wrong with your flight , they will Rob you of your money and there is nothing you can do about it. DO NOT fly with east china air just trying save a few bucks. Bad idea"
Pros: "The service was great. Seats barrable."
Cons: "May have gotten sick from the water or food served."
Pros: "The staff was friendly and polite. There was movies, TV shows, etc to watch. The food was decent for airline food."
Cons: "2 days of delays and unorganized at times"
Pros: "The free wifi!"
Cons: "The absurd emergency aisle seat fee. Nobody sat in the aisle the entire flight. I’m a very tall person, not a tiny Asian who can sit comfortably side by side to people with the person in front of me having his chair back the entire way for 14 hours!"
Pros: "The free cup of water"
Cons: "Welcome aboard Dictator Airlines... NO I WILL NOT SHUT MY WINDOW COVER"
Pros: "The food was amazing two hot meals and a couple of snacks."
Cons: "Economy is not the way to travel on an extended flight, aisle seat is bearable but otherwise a fail in the comfort side."
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "Flew in business. Absolutely no understanding of service. Incompetent and lazy crew that speaks extremely limited English. Food is very basic, drinks are worse than in economy of good airlines such as Emirates."
Cons: "Traveling through China is a nightmare"
Pros: "Service was prompt and polite. The personnel were great!"
Cons: "Im not sure if it's China Eastern policy, fleet-wide, but cell phone use was not allowed the entire flight, even with the phone switched to airplane mode. This, and the fact that seats did not contain flight entertainment systems, meant that I couldn't watch any movies."
Pros: "It was a quick flight."
Cons: "Many times in China, planes stop on the tarmac and have passengers get off the plane, board a bus, and enter the airport at a ground level entrance. This flight we were hopeful of actually getting off at a proper gate. We pulled up to a gate, but in true China form, we didn't actually get to enter the airport from the gate. We exited the plane as if we were going to enter the airport from that gate. However, we were guided away from the airport entrance down a set of stairs to board a bus to be transported no more than 200m to a ground level entrance. I wish I was making this stuff up!"
Pros: "Boarding was instant. The plane wasn't full, so many people moved seats and sat comfortably. The plane was modern, with comfortable seats, and tv screens on the seats."
Cons: "The only minor drawback was the food wasn't awesome. But good flight anyway."
Cons: "Didn't even get into that"
Cons: "Please see above all the connection issues."
Pros: "Nov 29, 2017. While flying China Eastern through Quingdao Liuting International Airport with overnight transit, I knew that airport shuts down overnight and was prepared for it with off the airport hotel reservation and all. But I was surprised at the time of check in at the origination airport (San Francisco) that I would be required to pickup the checked in luggage at Quingdao and check it back in next day for connecting flight to Shanghai. There was a Left Luggage facility at Quingdao Liuting Aurport on second floor departure level, to take away some pain. But more surprise as they charged me for two full days just for overnight service. Argument was that I am leaving the luggage today evening at 7:00pm but will pick 5:30am tomorrow morning thus making two calendar day charges. Staff did not know English but was very nice and helpful. It was very clear that they were policy bound and the money was not going in her pocket. For two pieces it was RMB 80 (20 per piece per day). Fortunate my English to Chinese translator phone app T Mobile One Plan and extra RMBs I had kept hoping to defray such unexpected situations helped a lot to make handling this situation easier. Otherwise I would have been much more dismayed :( But all in all I was impressed by the Airline Crews’ hospitality and Airport staff professionalism :) despite the fact that I don’t they get paid as much as most of their western counterparts. I read that a new Quingdao airport is on the cards in 2019 or so and that can change the situation. So I have mentioned a date at the start of this comment to make sure future readers have a time context too."
Cons: "See above"
Pros: "The flight arrives and departures from different airports - i wish I was notified about it."
Pros: "Everything but the layover."
Cons: "Layover for 8h"
Pros: "left on time and arrived on time small snack was tasty"
Cons: "had to take a bus to the plane and walk up the stairs with my heavy suitcase."
Cons: "My original flight was delayed to the point of missing my connecting flight. They rerouted me to Shanghai and refused to pay for ground transportation to get to Nanjing, despite my original flight being booked to Nanjing. Absolutely horrible customer service and no attempt to help. I ended up losing hundreds more on booking my own transportation from Shanghai to Nanjing."
Pros: "they do have basic service sense, when the flight got delay due to the weather, they provide hotel and food for customers. include bus brought customers back and forth between hotel and airport."
Cons: "however, they have no sense of privacy, they suppose customers could share one room without knowing each other. I personally can't stand this, it is not respect to personal privacy."
Pros: "Nothing."
Cons: "The airline didn't honor my ticket, and subsequently I had to purchase another ticket - this time at the counter which was outrageously expensive."
Pros: "Compared with airlines in the US, here you actually get food, even for a short flight"
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "You are not allowed to use your phone even in flight mode. Food is disgusting"
Pros: "7 repeated announcements of delay. Flight was supposed to leave at 415 pm, but did not until 9:20 pm. Light rain, no ATC delay in Shanghai, Waiting area is away from the main corridor, with no restaurants and toilets, so it's a hassle climing up and down the stairs."
Cons: "When making the reservations I was never told that there is a 24 hour visa in Beijing, as a matter of fact, the airline changed my return flight for a 25.6 hour lay over in Beijing. When I arrived at the airport, I was told I could not board the plane. I called the airline and was given another flight to Shanghai where I could stay up to 144 hours for another $1600.00. The reservations clerk didn't tell me about the Visa issues even after numerous phone calls. Since the airline is "China Eastern" I would presume they'd know the rules before booking and changing flights violating the rules, unless that's the scam to get people to pay even more for their flights."
Cons: "The airport was diffulvt to menuvuer."
Pros: "Lot's of entertainment options on in-flight console. Also, the price point was very reasonable."
Cons: "The crew often ignored requests and not enough meals/ snacks were served for such a long flight."
Cons: "Lost baggage, couldnt check in until just before flight."
Cons: "Airplane flew in the sky for 2 extra hours before landing in qingdao. Delayed at qingdao airport with no explanation for 6-7 hours. Very poor service and attitude from the attendants. No one was present and when the manager came he gave no information and lied about why the flight was delayed. He said there were weather conditions but it neither rained nor snowed in qingdao or Seoul. The worst experience ever."
Pros: "More food and drink choices More international appeal Free internet"
Cons: "Lack of international entertainment"
Pros: "Nothing unexpected. The flight was pretty much on time although of course most delays are not due to the airline. I've flown many times with China Eastern and I like it."
Pros: "More room than expected in economie with seats that appeared to lay back more than industry standard. Thanks to the guy in front of me for not laying back. Was served a sandwich and bottle of water an a hour and a half flight. Very decent aircraft."
Cons: "Crew in the back didn't or didn't want to speak English"
Pros: "My staff and crew in Chicago were very friendly and helpful. Once entering Pudong airport I had a very different experience."
Cons: "Upon arrival I had to exit the terminal, get my bags and proceed to recheck everything in. I have never had to do that before on a connecting flight and feel it would have made much more sense to give me both boarding tickets in Chicago. The line to re check in was extremely long and confusing. I was told at the counter due to the wait I missed my flight and would have to speak with a manager. When I waited again in line to speak with a manager they told me I didn't miss my flight and to go back to the end of the original line. After waiting again, and speaking with a very rude desk attendent, I waited at the gate an hour past our boarding time and at the last minute our gate was switched with very little warning. There was no information for the flights on the board and most of the time I wasn't even sure where my flight was located. When I spoke with the attendant she would just tell me "in a few minutes." This was before I waited the hour and then switched gates and waited another 45 minutes."
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "Domestic portion of the flight was first canceled then rescheduled then delayed. This issue keeps occurring and should not be recommended on Kayak!"
