FAQs for booking Vancouver to Lisbon flights

  • How do I travel from the airport to Lisbon by public transportation?

The easiest way to travel from the airport to downtown Lisbon is by metro, but it’s probably not the most convenient if you have a lot of luggage. The airport is serviced by Metro’s red line, connecting to the blue line at São Sebastião station, the yellow line at Saldanha station, and the green line at Alameda station. A one-way ticket costs 1,50 € (about C$ 2.25), plus 0,50 € (about C$ 0.75) for the reusable Viva Viagem card. If you’re going to use public transportation a lot, it’s best to top up your Viva Viagem card with cash and then pay as you go, rather than buying single tickets for each individual trip. Some buses operated by Carris also connect the airport to the city centre, but they’re usually crowded and aren’t prepared to accommodate passengers with a lot of luggage. It’s better to catch the Aerobus. A one-way ticket costs 3,60 € (about C$ 5.39) and the bus stops in many central locations close to various hotels.

  • How much will I pay for a taxi from the airport to Lisbon’s downtown area?

All taxis are metred and display their fares on the back window of the car. On average, a taxi ride from the airport to Lisbon shouldn’t cost more than 15 € (about C$ 22.47) with luggage included. During rush hour, from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, this rate might increase due to heavy traffic. Most taxis only take cash, but those accepting debit and credit card payments will display a sticker with the symbols for MB (debit cards), Visa or MasterCard.

  • Does the airport have an on-site hotel?

There aren't any hotels directly inside the airport, but there are two hotels within walking distance from the arrivals area, Hotel Tryp and Hotel Star Inn. It is about a 7min walk from the airport to the hotels.

  • Should I exchange currency at the airport?

There are two currency exchange offices located at the airport when you arrive in Lisbon, both operated by Unicâmbio. One of them is in the baggage claim area, and the other is in the arrivals hall. Debit and credit card payments are widely accepted at Lisbon Airport, and some taxis even accept debit and credit cards as well. You can wait until you reach the city centre for better rates at exchange offices downtown, or you can withdraw cash from one of the ATMs in the arrivals area.

  • Where can I rest while waiting for departure?

Suppose you arrive at YVR before your departure to Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS); you will be glad to note that many airlines run their Clubs at this facility. • Where can I park my car at Vancouver International Airport?

With a multi-level parking garage, you won’t have problems dropping off your car at YVR. There is Gateway Valet and on-airport economy long-term parking, both charging hourly and daily rates. The parking lots are directly opposite if you are departing through the southern terminal. Consider paying in advance to avoid last-minute hassles.

  • Does Humberto Delgado Airport have storage facilities?

If you arrive at Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and want to leave behind extra bags, remember that the facility has ideal storage lockers at your convenience. These amenities lie in the P2 car park. Staff serving at this amenity will direct you regarding storage duration and fees.

KAYAK’s top tips for finding a cheap flight from Vancouver Intl Airport to Lisbon

  • International flights from Vancouver to Lisbon land at Terminal 1 of Airport Humberto Delgado (LIS), about 30min from the city centre, and the only airport servicing the Portuguese capital and Lisbon’s metro area.
  • If your flight lands far from the terminal entrance, account for a 10min bus trip from the airplane to the terminal building, and an additional 5 to 7min spent walking to immigration.
  • If you need to eat something before claiming your baggage, there’s a café and restaurant area between immigration and the baggage claim area. If you prefer, you can wait until you’re outside in the main hall of the arrivals area. However, keep in mind that most cafes and restaurants in the arrivals area open after 6:00 am, in case your flight from Vancouver to Lisbon arrives before that time.
  • Rideshare companies are widely used in Lisbon. At the moment, Uber and Kapten are both available in Portugal. Rideshare drivers will most likely pick up passengers from the Kiss & Fly parking lot outside of the departures area. When exiting the baggage claim area, turn left and exit the airport through the door behind the newspaper store. The Kiss & Fly parking lot is across from the free shuttle bus stop that connects both terminals.
  • If you have a connecting domestic flight departing from Terminal 2, there's a free shuttle bus that leaves Terminal 1 from across the street every 10min, from 3:30 am to 1:30 am.
  • Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is a popular departure station for flights to Lisbon due to its world-class amenities that cater to the needs of every traveler, including modern infrastructure and high-tech innovations. The facility also provides regular connectivity to other parts of Canada, Europe, Asia, the United States of America, and Mexico.
  • Numerous airlines operate one-stop or two journeys when booking your flight from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS). For instance, British Airways has a layover at London Heathrow Airport (LHR). At the same time, Lufthansa transits through Frankfurt Airport (FRA).

Even tho the flight was a bit delayed the team was apologetic. Everyone was friendly and efficient.

The Flight took off 2hrs late because there was no pilot showing up when the flight was ready to board.. Though the cabin crew was present and had prepared the plane, the FO turned around after 15 min and went away. A crew to fly the plane finally arrived over an hour later and we were able to board 1h30 min later than planned time... until everything was loaded, we left 2h late from the gate. This was a small plane, so don't expect any Entertainment... Wi-Fi access on board would work, but took an awful amount of time to figure out and get it work (I'm an IT person). Flying as VIPorter customer, I was expecting at least some warm meal, but everything served was just cold.. except the coffee maybe. Even in so-called VIPorter seats, space is cramped and trays are so tiny, you can barely setup your food. Flight caught up during the coast-to-coast crossing and was able to recoup about 45 min from the delay.. still arrived very late in Vancouver and had to wait a long time to get our registered bags. Let's see how the return flight will be in a few days..

It was okay. Had a thing with the front desk, she had me repack my suitcases to have them be under the weight restrictions, but then the other one was overweight, she argued with me about it when there were tons of people in line. Wasn’t great.

Due to a known technical error that Porter has not fixed in over a year, I was unable to check in the children on my reservation online and had to do it at the airport. Upon check in, there were no seats together, which was an issue as we had young children. The gate agent did manage to seat us together by moving other passengers, which was appreciated, but the other passengers were never informed, leading to confusion and delay upon boarding. The flight was over an hour late; no explanation or apology was ever issued. The bags on Porter take a long time to arrive--over half an hour at Hamilton on my inbound flight, and not much better on my return to Edmonton.

On my e-boarding pass it shows free wifi, yet the plane I was on didn’t have wifi. Please remove false advertising from your website and boarding passes

3.5 hr delay for a 1 hr work flight. No information as to why the delay until 20 mins before boarding.

Organization and the adjusted times but the snacks could be of a bigger portion

Smaller plane. Food and bar service for free is amazing. Drinks were in glass not plastic cups.

Poor landing as we overshot the runway and had to re land the plane. Lost both of my luggage not found as of yet. Had to pay extra money for my luggage in USD, now great my luggage is gone. Will not fly with Porter again.

This flight to St. Johns was really good. Boarding was a breeze. We left spot on time. Seats were actually pretty good. Recliner further than I expected. Three more flights to go we will see if this is the status quo for Porter.👍

i was not able to take my flight because the information i needed to book my dog correctly was not provided

We are a senior couple (70+) and chose emergency exit seats so we would have 2 seats together and neither of us had to sit in a middle seat. My husband is type 1 diabetic on an insulin pump and I monitor his blood sugar levels. I am 5'9" and 250 lbs and found the seats extremely uncomfortable. Toward the end of the flight I developed diarrhea which lasted a full 24 hours.

They never sent me a confirmation to say my flight time had changed so I cut my holiday short by 6 hours Had to pay over 50 American for my luggage to be checked on the way home and that’s more that it cost on the way there. Arbitrarily charging more for the same thing when the passenger has no options is shady The cabin was an icebox going there and back, if all the passengers have their gloves on and their hoods up that should be an obvious sign to turn up the heat

I was very nice to arrive earlier than scheduled. Very much appreciated. No issues with flight. All was good.

The on-board crew were professional and friendly and made the trip feel like we were taken care of well. The gate for the flight departure changed three times...not great but not terrible. Considering it was the day of the New Jalisco Cartel mayhem, we can't really complain.

We were treated well by the staff at the airport and on board aircraft. Delay was uncontrollable due to the weather. Had to wait for another gate as we were late landing in Fort Lauderdale.

I was supose to have a carrey on incluided for each passenger and they made me paid 75$ each at the gate.

Great crew and entertaining Captain. Seats were not what we had expected based on my booking but things worked out in the end. Of course, like all airlines these days not enough leg or elbow room.

The entertainment system was down; food by purchase only; several people did not receive their luggage. No one answers at the local office or online about the luggage.

The Turkish was good . I had a problem with air Transat terrible experience for me

Meals were not so good. Snack between the meals was very bad. Like Japan Airlines, they could eliminate the snack and make the second meal much better.

It's very confusing because Kayak has it as American Airlines, but it was Hawaiian Airlines, but operated by Alaska Airlines. I had to go to the airport for my boarding pass because American said I didn't have any trips.

Flight to Tampa was delayed taking off due to plane arriving late but no other issues

We lost a day of our vacation because AA did not get the plane to the gate on time. Even though the gate attendant was very clear that it was not weather related, AA would do nothing because there was some snow that day. They basically said the gate attendant was wrong even though she was on the front line of the situation and they were not.

Baggage allowances are terrible and the experience of only being allowed one bag and paying so much to take sporting equipment to a known ski area should be addressed.

Flight was canceled. I asked to be rerouted to OKC and then took an Uber.

So excited very proud first of all I wanna thank kayak all updates very professional and fast alart And amazing cabin crew so nice to me they deserve big salute

Better service. No food options, but we did get drinks and a cookie.

The flight was on time and crew were nice, seats were tight and there was entertainment available

The AA staff person who checked our bags was curt and almost rude. The FA also seemed unhappy doing her job. Overall it was like riding the school bus back in grade school.

Flight departed significantly late with no announcements being made. Woman behind me would not allow me to recline my seat so I was unable to comfortably sleep. Flight attendant not very responsive. Slow to pick up garbage after meal. Not a good experience at all. I felt like cattle rather than like a valued customer

Got denied my flight was told on Google that Air Canada was supposed to book me a flight back home because I never was able to go to my destination. They did not help me whatsoever. I had to book a whole new flight for that reason I would write this is zero

The plane was delayed an hour. Heard from other passengers that the Vancouver connection to SFO was never on-time.

Our original flight was cancelled due to mechanical reasons. This cancellation caused us to miss our connection and we were not able to get another flight for 3 days and then needed to make an extra connection to get there. Air Canada did not rebook our flight for us, it took several hours of talking with staff in the airport and making phone calls to get the flights rebooked. We never received a voucher for our hotel and meals while we were waiting for our next flight and it was only after talking to several staff that we were provided some general information about how we could be reimbursed. We tried entering our ticket information in the website provided, but it did not recognize our flight information. When we asked someone on the phone about this they said we'd need to contact the customer relations department, but that it's not possible to reach them on the phone. I don't understand what company would have a customer relations department that you can't talk to. We spent about $1,000 for hotels and meals for our family while waiting for a flight home and I'm not confident we will ever get reimbursed for this. I understand that mechanical issues can happen to any airline, but this is the 4th time that this has happened to my wife and I on Air Canada and we have only flown Air Canada about 8 times, so this is not a good track record. Also, when we did finally get a flight home (which was also delayed due to mechanical problems), we were told we couldn't bring a standard carry on even though the information on our ticket clearly indicated that we could bring a carry on bag. The staff at the gate were not understanding about this situation.

Hoping for small compasation for having to rebook my trip back cause i had to miss 6 hrs work

Extremely disappointing. My original Denver–Vancouver–Bangkok itinerary was cancelled due to a mechanical issue. I was not proactively supported and had to drive back home after already reaching the airport. Communication was poor throughout, and attempts to contact customer service resulted in being on hold for nearly three hours without reaching anyone. Instead of being rebooked on the same direct routing the following day, I was rerouted onto a much longer itinerary via multiple cities and airlines, which resulted in arriving approximately 30 hours later than scheduled. At Denver airport, there was no visible Air Canada representative available to properly assist. Ground staff offered no real support beyond directing passengers to a phone number. There was no clear communication, no ownership, and no meaningful customer care during a major disruption. The final journey involved three flights instead of the original two, significantly increasing travel time and stress. Overall, the handling of the cancellation and lack of customer support was unacceptable. What could have been better? Clear communication during the cancellation Accessible customer service (phone support that actually answers) Proper in-person assistance at the airport Rebooking onto a comparable routing rather than a significantly longer one

Mechanical issue caused me to be stuck in Vancouver for 2 days

I explained this tragedy already with Jazz It was terrible starting with Jazz delayed 3 times so that I missed my direct flight to Mexico City and the only option was a 19 hour trip to Toronto and then down to Mexico City I was delayed by a day I had to sleep in tbe Airport on a hard bench I was given vouchers which were not honored I had no place to eat until 0545 and then catch my flight which was boarding I went to the AC counter to c/o and that was to no avail I then had the experience of my suitcase being lost and no clothes gor 2 days

Short flight, you can't do much. On nice days, announce the islands they're flying over.

they were super helpful. Agents at the desk got me on an earlier flight and I was able to get home several hours earlier.

Everything. Employees offered to help me because I had to use a cane.

Need thicker and wider blankets. Food was below standard especially in the fist leg.

Decrepit planes, poor business class layout designed to maximize revenue, no decent movie selection.

Horrible leg room - coach seating with empty seat in middle on a 3 across seating. You buy business class for comfort which includes leg room. Absolutely no entertainment options either. Awful experience

First of all, our gate, and perhaps all of British Airways' gates for Nice-Heathrow flights, led to a series of buses that took a long time to board, were crowded, and offered virtually no seating. The long line of passengers moved slowly. The food in business class was awful. There was an air traffic controller problem that caused our flight to be significantly delayed, and many of the passengers had connecting flights at Heathrow. While the crew acknowledged our concern and promised to give us specifics about where to go when we landed, in fact, no announcements were made, so passengers in that situation were anxious about how to quickly find their connecting flights. Not a great look for BA.

It was perfect. The service was exceptional. I would never want to cross the Atlantic in anyone else's sardine tins.

They issued seat assignments and sat my 2 year-old in the row behind me, separate from me and my daughter. Communication/ customer service was terrible. They told me to change it in London, then in London, they told me to talk to the cabin crew, then a supervisor came and stuck us in the back of the plane when we were supposed to be in row 25. Overall, they need to really work on their customer service. Additionally the food was terrible and they ran out of meals and didn’t have any kid options. To top it off there was no in-flight entertainment for the first hour of the trip.

The crew’s professionalism was top notch and the food and drinks available were excellent. I only ask that we get the refurbished 777’s on the London to Bermuda route that I had for the London to Singapore leg. The updated infotainment system is much better than the older version

The overall seat and cushion needs to be updated. It was hard and no support. My butt was numb for most of the flight. The food was subpar at best being in premium economy cost. The flight attendants were excellent and attentive during the whole flight. Disappointed I had to select our seats 24 hours prior.

They damaged my check in bag and when I filled complaint they gave some minimal amount which is not even sufficient to buy new bag. Vey unhappy with this experience.
