FAQs for booking Vancouver to Rome flights

  • How much will I pay for a taxi from Fiumicino Airport to downtown Rome?

All taxis at Fiumicino charge a fixed rate of 48 € (about C$ 72) for trips from the airport to the city centre. These fares are established by the Rome Municipality and not the taxi companies. You can take a cab from outside the arrivals areas of Terminal 1 or Terminal 3. Licensed taxis are white and have a TAXI sign on the roof. Avoid taking a cab from someone offering you a cheaper fare inside the airport, as this often leads to a scam.

SIT Bus Shuttle, T. A. M., Terravision and Rome Airport Bus are the companies operating buses from outside the arrivals area of Terminal 3, going to the city centre. All these bus companies stop at Termini Station, Rome’s central train station. T. A. M. has one extra route to Ostiense Station and SIT Bus Shuttle has another bus travelling to the Vatican area. All buses run every 30min Monday to Sunday, but only during the day. Depending on which company you choose, a one-way ticket can cost between 5,80 € (C$ 8.75) and 6,90 € (C$ 10.41).

  • What’s the difference between a taxi and a car rental with a driver?

At Fiumicino Airport you’ll find taxis as well as the option to rent a car with a driver. However, only taxis can pick you up from the designated area outside the terminals. Car rental drivers must be booked online and typically pick up passengers at the Kiss&Go area. At the airport, you can rent a car with a driver from Cooperativa Airport, Autonoleggio Futura and Cooperativa U. A. R. A.

  • What kind of shops will I find in the arrivals area of Fiumicino Airport?

You'll find five shops in the arrivals area of Terminal 3. At TIM and Exactta you can buy mobile phones and pre-paid SIM cards, Best and Fast Change and Yex Change are for exchanging currency, Punto nel Mondo is a travel agency, and at WHSmith you can buy books and newspapers.

  • The airport is well connected to the city centre by a network of taxis and other public transportation options. Most passengers opt to take a cab or take the train. As a reference, a trip to Roma Termini train station in the centre of the city will take about 40min to 1h by car and 32min by train. If you’re staying near the central station, taking the train is the faster option. A one-way ticket for the Leonardo Express train costs 14 € (about C$ 21) and trains depart every 15min.
  • Fiumicino is not a large international airport, but you'll still find some food options if you need a snack after your long flight from Vancouver to Rome. Bagel Factory and Semplicemente Roma are the two cafes located in the arrivals area of Terminal 3. Both have vegetarian and gluten-free options on the menu, but only Semplicemente Roma is open 24h.
  • For passengers who need a quick nap, a shower, or to catch up on a work deadline before heading out to explore Rome, visit the HelloSky lounge in the public area of Terminal 3 after customs. Room rates start at 55 € (about C$ 83), and showers are 20 € (C$ 30) per person. Lounge access for up to 3h costs 20 € (C$ 30) per passenger.
  • If you want to rent a car at Fiumicino Airport, car rental offices are located at Office Tower 2, within walking distance from the main terminal.

Great flight, great landing, nice staff. Our seats were a little cramped.

Overall good experience. The wait for baggage at our destination was quite long, but other than that everything was good as expected

Do not fly on WestJet if you have a connection. It failed to integrate with my connecting Delta flight and I almost missed it.

The experience was good just the upcharge of over a hundred dollars was not cool.

There was a man who was very rude at boarding. On the other hand personal bag measuring box is too small compared to USA airlines,

The process and flight were both smooth and trouble free

everything was fine expect massive delays - not the airline’s fault

Seat back entertainment monitors would be nice. We did enjoy the In-Flight WiFi.

Our flight schedule was changed over six times, ultimately leaving us with a layover much shorter than we originally booked, which meant a panicked run through the airport. And the entertainment screen didn't function. As I've come to expect with Delta, a very mediocre and not customer-focused experience. This is on top of an outbound flight that was so delayed by mechanical issues, we had to spend the night at our layover city.

Staff were courteous and helpful. The only negative was the flight delays (which are usually unavoidable) and the high baggage price.

Flight departed significantly late with no announcements being made. Woman behind me would not allow me to recline my seat so I was unable to comfortably sleep. Flight attendant not very responsive. Slow to pick up garbage after meal. Not a good experience at all. I felt like cattle rather than like a valued customer

Got denied my flight was told on Google that Air Canada was supposed to book me a flight back home because I never was able to go to my destination. They did not help me whatsoever. I had to book a whole new flight for that reason I would write this is zero

The plane was delayed an hour. Heard from other passengers that the Vancouver connection to SFO was never on-time.

Our original flight was cancelled due to mechanical reasons. This cancellation caused us to miss our connection and we were not able to get another flight for 3 days and then needed to make an extra connection to get there. Air Canada did not rebook our flight for us, it took several hours of talking with staff in the airport and making phone calls to get the flights rebooked. We never received a voucher for our hotel and meals while we were waiting for our next flight and it was only after talking to several staff that we were provided some general information about how we could be reimbursed. We tried entering our ticket information in the website provided, but it did not recognize our flight information. When we asked someone on the phone about this they said we'd need to contact the customer relations department, but that it's not possible to reach them on the phone. I don't understand what company would have a customer relations department that you can't talk to. We spent about $1,000 for hotels and meals for our family while waiting for a flight home and I'm not confident we will ever get reimbursed for this. I understand that mechanical issues can happen to any airline, but this is the 4th time that this has happened to my wife and I on Air Canada and we have only flown Air Canada about 8 times, so this is not a good track record. Also, when we did finally get a flight home (which was also delayed due to mechanical problems), we were told we couldn't bring a standard carry on even though the information on our ticket clearly indicated that we could bring a carry on bag. The staff at the gate were not understanding about this situation.

Hoping for small compasation for having to rebook my trip back cause i had to miss 6 hrs work

Extremely disappointing. My original Denver–Vancouver–Bangkok itinerary was cancelled due to a mechanical issue. I was not proactively supported and had to drive back home after already reaching the airport. Communication was poor throughout, and attempts to contact customer service resulted in being on hold for nearly three hours without reaching anyone. Instead of being rebooked on the same direct routing the following day, I was rerouted onto a much longer itinerary via multiple cities and airlines, which resulted in arriving approximately 30 hours later than scheduled. At Denver airport, there was no visible Air Canada representative available to properly assist. Ground staff offered no real support beyond directing passengers to a phone number. There was no clear communication, no ownership, and no meaningful customer care during a major disruption. The final journey involved three flights instead of the original two, significantly increasing travel time and stress. Overall, the handling of the cancellation and lack of customer support was unacceptable. What could have been better? Clear communication during the cancellation Accessible customer service (phone support that actually answers) Proper in-person assistance at the airport Rebooking onto a comparable routing rather than a significantly longer one

Mechanical issue caused me to be stuck in Vancouver for 2 days

I explained this tragedy already with Jazz It was terrible starting with Jazz delayed 3 times so that I missed my direct flight to Mexico City and the only option was a 19 hour trip to Toronto and then down to Mexico City I was delayed by a day I had to sleep in tbe Airport on a hard bench I was given vouchers which were not honored I had no place to eat until 0545 and then catch my flight which was boarding I went to the AC counter to c/o and that was to no avail I then had the experience of my suitcase being lost and no clothes gor 2 days

Short flight, you can't do much. On nice days, announce the islands they're flying over.

they were super helpful. Agents at the desk got me on an earlier flight and I was able to get home several hours earlier.

The flight got delayed 3 hours from Montreal and we missed our connecting flight so it was a long journey

The service and food was excellent. The remote control for entertainment did not function properly.

All was good, except my USB charging did not work, so my phone got drained and I could not charge it. Same happened to my neighbour.

A bit more space? Not practical, I know. I felt squished in but part of that could have been the man sitting next to me.

The plane (Mitsubishi CRJ) felt old, creaking and not very new. The crew was okay. Hot water provision was broken so hot beverages could't be served.

Not bad. We had preboarding tickets but the preboarding was badly managed. We lined up behind all the parents with little kids etc and when we got to the front of the line the attendant deliberately turned away from us and ignored us until I asked to be allowed to go to the gate. She started telling us that we had to wait until I told her we had preboarding then she let us through.

Everything well done and customer oriented There entertainment system is difficult to navigate

Boarding and flight update was fantastic as I experienced about a 10-15 delayed for both flights. The food served onboard was great; the service of the flight attendants was excellent.

They delayed my flight from Toronto Pearson for one hour and Frankfurt to Abuja for 2HRS, So sad

Complete mess. Our reservation was mistakenly cancelled. After almost missing the connection and walking all over the Munich airport, the Service desk got involved and we were run to our flight. Not all 4 of us in Business and not seated together as originally booked. This was the worst treatment I have ever had. And I travel a lot. 1K million miler.

The worst parts were not BA’s fault. The chaos of passport control etc was totally unnecessary. One of the Officers who was stamping passports (remember that) told me that if I had a problem, I should contact Boris Johnson! Secondly, the distance from the Lounge to the Gate was beyond acceptable. All in all, the issues with immigration and emigration and the hikes within the airport mean I won’t be returning anytime soon

It is an airline that has the service that used to be in the old times as a standard and now is rare. Very good.

I was unable to board this flight because of visa changes that I was not alerted about and I’ve been unable to contact Kayak to obtain a refund / credit anything.

I like everything about British Airways. Excellence. Perfect. Exquisite service.

Need thicker and wider blankets. Food was below standard especially in the fist leg.

Decrepit planes, poor business class layout designed to maximize revenue, no decent movie selection.

Horrible leg room - coach seating with empty seat in middle on a 3 across seating. You buy business class for comfort which includes leg room. Absolutely no entertainment options either. Awful experience

Ok, my flight to Berlin was wonderful, no complaints everything I expected. The flight home however sucked! I hate using four letter words but there it is. The boarding process was horrible, me and others tried to board before with the e ticket, that did not work. Later I found out that it was a cyber attack. But they had 24 hours to get a plan in place. So that when people showed up they could be given information about the problem. The other problem is the help line was not working!

The space is tight. Either you sit straight up the whole time, but the minute you relax, your knees hit the back of the seat in front of you. My seat would not recline so I was quite uncomfortable. Didn’t use my tray table bc it was stained and sticky and nasty. I was also seating in one of the last rows and one crew member and people going to the bathroom kept hitting my elbow resting on the armrest.

Excellent everywhere but Philly, the most rotten airport in the world.

Upgraded to premium economy at the gate. Well worth it!

The flight was canceled and airlines did nothing to accommodate the passengers. After few hours they booked me randomly on a flight that had long layover and didn’t provide any compensation or effort to help. The crew was rude, no representation on the airport. Everything needs to be on call and agents there had no knowledge or control. For everything, they were like we can’t do it and you need to file a claim later. That was not helpful at all and will not make my travel experience any easier. Very disappointed in their service.

Great plane and flight attendants. The person next to me had a DISGUSTING smelling mouth and breath, so that was nasty to deal with the whole flight. Brush your teeth, people! Condor was amazing, though :-)

It would be nice to have a cleaner facility, it was hard to access it. It was always full of people working in that space. The covers and especially the matt of bad quality and old. Many times reused. I would not use it. Food: the bread rolls were old, and food had strange choices. Chicken was terrible.

There was some nice staff when I entered and left, but the thrre flight attendants who served us were very brusque and rude. I have celiac and when I checked in, I tried to find the option to make sure my meals (stick on a 10+ hour flight after a 3 hour flight and short layover) were gluten free because I didn’t have time to get anything. Couldn’t find the selection for it, and every part of the meal and purchase options were gluten, so I didn’t get to eat. During check in the allergies section should be easy to identify and check so this doesn’t happen. Having more options for gluten free at this time should be easy.

Internet was advertised in-flight but not accessible. The foot rest in premium economy was stuck. For both nobody I asked was able to provide an answer/solution. However, this will not stop me from booking premium economy again, which I upgraded from my initial economy I had booked for my outbound flight YYZ to FRA.

Great flight, nice options for food and beverages. Fairly comfortable seats for a large person

Business class: or fist class: Seating absolutely terrible, same seats as everyone else , no space, we could not fit our knees in. I was sitting sideways since nobody else booked this business class. I wish we would have an option to select a business class for the main journey between USA and Europe, but regular class for the short flights in Europe.

The seating was exactly same as the rest of the plane. We had no space for our knees. In fact it was the tightest spacing of the seats I ever flew with, on a very old plane. (and we flew all over Asia and Europe) The same chairs. We were the only passengers in business or first class. Obviously funny.... The only difference was, we got a sendwich and we were offered a drink. Rest of the plane got a bottle of water.

The crew was great. Good etc was unacceptable for an overseas flight. Wine with a meal should be complimentary. Seat comfort /space horrible and I am 5‘3“ with heels on. Short haul probably ok but not on long haul flights
