  • High season is considered to be January, February and March. The cheapest month to fly from Victoria is September.
  • Morning departure is around 24% more expensive than an evening flight, on average*.
  • Victoria and Alberta are separated by more than 1,000 kilometers. For this reason, it would be wise to steer clear of trying to drive from Victoria to Alberta; fly there instead. Many flights take off from Victoria International Airport (YYJ) each week and land at Calgary International Airport (YYC), in Alberta. Air Canada, Lynx Air, and WestJet are just a few airlines that can get you there.
  • Some airlines, such as WestJet, have flights that will leave Victoria International Airport and touch down in Calgary eventually, but they’ll make stops between the two places. Whenever possible, you should avoid taking flights from Victoria to Alberta that include stops and opt for a direct flight instead. Lynx Air offers quite a few direct flights to Calgary each week that will allow you to fly to Alberta in about 1h 30min.
  • Since a flight from Victoria to Alberta isn’t going to take you more than two hours in most cases, you might not think flying first class would make much sense. But after you book a regular economy-class ticket to go from Victoria to Alberta, look for any emails you receive from an airline like Air Canada about potentially upgrading to first class cheaply. It could make a first-class ticket very affordable.
  • When you check a bag through an airline like Air Canada or Air Lynx, you will often be subjected to baggage fees. You might have to spend about $30 to check one bag and as much as $50 to check a second one. Because of this, you should try not to overload your car with too much luggage when you’re traveling to Victoria International Airport. Ideally, you should leave your luggage at home and travel lightly with just a carry-on bag.
  • Since flying from Victoria to Alberta will be a domestic flight, you won’t have to get to the airport too early for it. But you should still try to arrive at Victoria International Airport one or two hours early if you can. You should also check out the airport’s website to see how long security lines are so that you’ll know if you should leave a little earlier than you planned.

Delays happen but communication and care were very low on what ended up being a long day.

they forgot to load our luggage onto the plane and we were without it for half of our trip to Paris. Didn’t seem to have much interest in getting it to us expeditiously.

Loved everything, especially during check in, very amazing people, they were so patient with me cos my bag was overweight. Loved their service. I’ll be using them again.

As per usual, lately, the flight was delayed. I can’t recall the last time a WestJet flight was on time.

I like the leg room in the exit isle..easier to get past people and I did t have to pay extra! Westjet changed my return flight time to a night flight 2 weeks before I left and left me hanging with NO HELP to resolve all the frustration they caused since I booked thru BudgetAir. They receive the lowest of star ratings I can give (if there was negative stars I’d be using those) for customer support and an overall bad score for the rest of the experience! So sad cause they used to good :)

Not having a screaming baby in my row the whole trip would have improved the experience.

Better boarding process, but not the fault of the airline… people are dumb.

It was my first experience with westjet and it is really awesome to travel with westjet. I highly recommend to everyone.

West jet once again canceled the flight delaying my travel this is inexcusable they are not capable of running an airline

We booked a ticket with Budget Air and the receipt said economy. My older teen daughter is neurodivergent and took a carry on bag since the ticket said economy, but she didn't see that it said no bags on her boarding pass. She has low attention. She managed to fly from Prince George to Calgary. At Calgary, she was preparing to board her last flight and the women said you can't get on. She said you can't board unless you pay for those bags. She had a small backpack, purse and carry on suitcase. She said you have to pay $160 +. My daughter has trouble understanding. She said can you step out of line to think about what you want to do. Then she said we have to leave you'll have to catch another flight. She called me in tears. I asked her to pass the phone to the agent. She said the agent was refusing to take the phone and ignoring her. I finally calmed her down enough to politely ask the woman to take my credit card. I told the woman of my daughter's challenges and need for extra helps. All she did was lecture me on how we booked ultra basic and we should have checked. She took my number and charged my card. Then I heard her push the phone back to my daughter and tell her to get on. My poor daughter was scared and confused and had to fly in tears. No apologies.

The flight was delayed and made the connecting flight a last minute dash across Vancouver airport.

Lots of delays, they should be more concerne about their customers

Had to buy headphones. Which is sad. I did not so I listened to podcasts and slept. Free beer is excellent a d those pretzels are great too. Overall I feel Air Canada slightly exceeds Westjet for overall experience. But still more can be done. Like allowing guests to view a movie for free.

Entertainment system kept crashing. Very hard to keolep a connection. Plane arrived in good time then sat waiting for ground crew for nearly 30 minutes... makes for a frustrating end to an otherwise ok trip. I'm not a big fan of your Rouge format but we're limited on direct flights to YYZ....so we suck it up.

Flight was cancelled due to problems with the aircraft . Not much else to add . Itinerary was changed from yeg to Yule direct . Fine .

Both my flights from Calgary to Montreal were pleasant. I should also mention my gratitude to the two ladies at YYC who helped with my check in and went out of their way to assist me.

The plane was so old it did not have a plug-in for your cell phone and there was no entertainment Screen available

Flt was Vanc to Toronto. You don’t serve food and child behind me kicking the seat. Otherwise good.

Due to the approaching strike I have to admit Air Canada personnel showed empathy and compassion.Thank you for an enjoyable flight

Lots of selection for entertainment. Fight was comfortable. However. The flight was delayed multiple times. And the delay caused us to miss an important mwwting.

The worst airline experience that I ever had in my life. The fare was cheap but boy do you pay for it when it comes to baggages, carry-ons, food on board and lack of available staff at check-in. Almost every other passenger on my flight had the same complaints and experience. We all bonded discussing our displeasure. My husband and I will definitely not be traveling with Flair Airlines. We'll take anyone else.

The most uncomfortable plane I ever fly on. The seats won't even recline a little. For a 5 hrs flight at night and tired it felt like torture

Seats in 1 res are dispersed all over the plane, even child was across

Personally, I will not use this fight again. The service is poor, you have to buy even water. They don't provide anything even sneak, you have to buy. They said Personally items for 7 kg. Then they use some measurements, if you have 7kg and if it's not getting inside of their measurements, you have to pay 80$ this is robbery. I will prefer other flight then this. I am désappointement taking this airplane.

It’s a shameful company. It ask as to go to counter to take the boarding pass, they simply send it by email, just to check the bags’ size in a smaller than normal template. DONT USE FLAIR! It will be more expensive than normal airlines at the end.

flight was okay, no wifi, no free drinks but worst of all they lost my son's bike for four days. Customer service was nonexistent - call a number that leaves you on perpetual hold, there's no baggage folks in the baggage claims area (in vancouver). we went up to international and nobody was at ticketing, went to domestic and they had us fill out a form. they could not tell us where the bag was. Anyway, highly recommend you drop an airtag for anything that's worth more than $500. My son's bike costs a lot more than that to replace; I was on pins and needles for four days.

The crew of this flight, specially the flight attendant in the front were the sweetest I’ve had in all my life, I genuinely hope they get a race or sum cuz of their efforts. It was just quite unsettling that the flight took so long to departure. It was supposed to leave at 10:35pm and we ended up taking off at 11:22pm…👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

It’s bare bones but was on time so can’t complain.

Of all the countries I've flown to and airlines from around the world, I have never had such a dismissive an arrogant employee during boarding. After waiting in line for 20 minutes to board, I was sent to a second line for Passport verification. Natalie from Flair, repeatedly tried to scan my passport which didn't work for some reason but was too lazy to input my information manually. Bar code scanners aren't 100% reliable as we all know. She asked me my birthdate 3 times, made me wait to be the last person aboard and then smugly threatened me that my only bag could be charged for (same backpack I used as on my arrival as carry on). Natalie working in Ft. Lauderdale and the was the epitome of lobotomized tiktok brain with the charm of junk mail.

Food selection is very poor and sears are very uncomfortable.

The flight was canceled. We only found out at the airport. We had to book another flight which cost us more then the whole trip booked through Kayak. Lynx took our email and was supposed to write us with an alternate flight. We never received an email. They talked about reimbursement which was to be explained in the email (which we never received).

The online system for Lynx air to pay for additional baggage is not satisfactory. I was charged 100+$ for my suitcase when I tried to explain that the online payment was not functional using the app and showed screenshots of the same. In the end I gave up and paid and went ahead.

No snacks, just water.... could have been better. The actual flight was good.

Flight delayed by 4 hours but no communication. With passengers until after the posted departure time became apparent the flight was not going to board even close to on time.

Flight was sent canceled. The absolute most useless staff I have ever witnessed. Utterly careless - literally could not care less. 100% never using this airline again.

Poor communication at the check in counter and boarding gates.

Other then the screaming baby the flight was fine, nothing special

Check in experience was smooth, and the flight attendants were courteous and friendly. Very positive experience overall, thank you all!

Flight arrived late but other than that everything else okay

Great price for a new plane. Only offered water which we knew.
