Pros:The staff never answered the phone. Hours didn’t match. Once, they answered they failed to mention difference if schedule. Schedule was changed on their door with a sharpie... written over original times. But!!! They did follow through with a refund. I am grateful for that.Cons:They need to update their online hours to reference their in store hours and confirmation email.Reviewed 9 Aug. 2020

Cons:If I am renting at the airport, then you should only include airport rentals. We ended up having to uber to the north part of town and then wait around for someone to show up from Hertz. When they did, they had to spend more time having it vacuumed offsite again = waste of three hours. The airport Hertz people said we could return the car to the airport but the north pick-up site said we had to return it there = another uber-lyft transfer. The car had well over 40,000 miles on it and while it was vacuumed, it wasn't very clean. I will not use Kayak in the future but directly deal with Hertz.Reviewed 11 May 2018

Be aware - making a reservation may not guaranteePros:Carly, the gal at the front desk, was awesome and DID find us a car, even if it was super uncomfortable. Turn in was reasonably quick, facility was clean.Cons:They didn't actually have a car for us- and didn't even try and call us until we were in flight (even though this had been an ongoing situation all week, apparently) I showed up via Uber at the location and a car that had been out for an oil change was found for me, but it was super tiny (I'd rented a standard sized car) and not comfortable at all. Fine, we can make it work. Additionally, the process of making that car available to me voided out my reservation made with Kayak and then tried to charge me for an extra day based on the return time. They did honor the price quoted but it took some talking. Additionally, there was an additional fee that they're apparently not disclosing via Kayak for local taxes. Not huge, just something to be very aware of. Have your reservation receipt handy and compare it to your bill before signing anything!!Reviewed 4 Oct. 2016

Cons:There was no car available for pickup at 8 a.m. and no guarantee that there would be any car available that day, despite a confirmed reservation. Fortunately a car was returned about 10:40 a.m. and I happened to be there to pick it up, or it would have been given to the next customer, despite my telling the agent that I did want the car and would come in to pick it up when they called me. There was a couple that reserved for 1 p.m. that was there and would have been given the first returned car. So it was very disappointing and a little stressful to have to wait for 2 3/4 hours, have to contemplate and work on contingency plans, and learn that the agents would have given the car to another client, even though I said I would come in to pick it up when they called me that one had been returned.Reviewed 5 Oct. 2016

Pros:Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I never had to wait very long.Cons:It was upsetting to receive a call ON THE DAY I was to pick my my rental, that there was no rental available. But they made up for that by going out and getting a brand new vehicle to have ready for my original pick up time.Reviewed 21 Sep. 2020

Worst Experience- Will Never Use Hertz AgainCons:When I went at my scheduled reservation time to pick up my rental, I was told they didn't have any cars left. Nobody bothered to call and tell me this but expected me to just "wait until tomorrow". Then I called customer service and was lied to, put on hold for 20 minutes, and NOTHING was resolved. They told me I could go to a different location to pick up a car but it would cost me an extra $110! Like somehow it was my fault they didn't have my original reservation at the original location! I called a second time and asked to speak to a supervisor who told me he would switch my reservation at the original rate. Then when I went to the new location they said the reservation was never switched. So I called customer service for a THIRD time and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told no one was available. "Daniel"tried to get me to hang up repeatedly telling me there was nothing he could do but refusing to get me to a supervisor. By the time I finally gave up it was 4 hours past my scheduled pick up time and I had to leave to pick up my teenage daughter who was a 14hour drive away! I ended up using my own vehicle for the trip and will NEVER use Hertz again. Nor will anybody I've told about this horrible experience.Reviewed 26 Jul. 2016

Inform your customers that rentals are NOT at the airport locationCons:When I went to rent via Kayak, it gave a street address for the car rental location. I am not familiar with Albuquerque and was unaware that the car pick-up was 7 miles from the airport. We had to take a taxi at a cost of $40 and spent over two hours just getting a rental car. Advise people when rental sites are NOT at the airport in big, bold letters. Also, this Hertz location was extremely challenged in both rental and return of the car. It took 1 hour to rent the car -- and I was the only customer. It took 30 minutes to return it, largely because they could not get their computer to bring up the price that my contract had stipulated. One of the worst car rental experiences I've had in 45 years of renting cars.Reviewed 27 Sep. 2017

Cons:They didn't have my car ready at the original location (san mateo, albuquerque) so I had to all the way across town to get another car. This cut into my travel time. Furthermore, they charged me a drop-off fee for a car I essentially returned to its home state (rented a TX car from NM location, which I returned to TX). When I asked why I was being charged the drop off fee they said there was nothing they could do about it. I know people that get paid to return cars to there home states and that answer was unacceptable.Reviewed 23 Mar. 2016

The Good News and the Bad NewsPros:The car we received was not a Toyota Corolla but a Kia Soul. It was comfortable but small with very little room in the trunk for a week's worth of luggage for two. It gave a smooth ride and you didn't feel the increased speeds on the highway. It felt like you were going 55 miles per hour when you were doing 75. The people at the pickup/drop-off were very helpful.Cons:When I reserved this car, I was told that I would have to take a taxi to the pickup location on Holly Ave. in Albuquerque. At the terminal, we were told we could pick up our car there. I was never told that we had an option to pick up our vehicle at the airport when I first reserved the car. However, when we took the shuttle bus to the Hertz pickup at the terminal, they told us that we couldn't pick up our car there because we had prepaid and it would be difficult to get a refund because we would have to pay Hertz again for this rental. It was at 5:30 pm when we arrived at the Albuquerque Airport, after our plane had been delayed for 90 minutes, and consequently the Holly Ave Hertz pickup location was closed. So we had to take the taxi to our hotel. This was $25 more than we expected to pay just to pick up our rental car. The airport pickup location was open until 1 am. So had the pickup point been there, we would have been able to get our rental car and be on our way even though our landing time was 90 minutes later. What a fiasco for our first day in Albuquerque!Reviewed 19 Apr. 2018
