Wrong location, big nightmare!Pros:The vehicle was clean and the manager at the Hertz location was very kind but in the end not helpful.Cons:Kayak booked the vehicle at a location that was nowhere near the airport, that and the location that Kayak used closed at 6:00pm so it was closed before our flight arrived. Then there was the headache of trying to switch the reservation to the airport Hertz, we had to do that using our own cell phones. No one at the airport Hertz offed to help switch the booking because we had booked though Kayak???? The Hertz employee who we reached on the phone would after each question would put us on hold for what seemed an eternity. If that wasn't bad enough the bill included many previously unmentioned fees. Sorry Kayak, the experience was so bad we will never use Kayak or Hertz again.Reviewed 24 Jun. 2018

Don't use debit card, but everything else pretty gPros:The shuttle drivers are super nice, both directions.Cons:Pick up was difficult. I reserved on a debit card, and Hertz decided a few weeks ago that I would need another form of ID (they accepted my other debit card, so no problem there) AND a credit check! I've been renting on debit cards for 25 years and have never had this. Apparently an inquiry into your credit lowers your score. By the time I waited in line for someone to help me (and the fact that I was trying to get to the hospital to be with a dying relative) I was unwilling to go back to the airport and find another rental company. Customer service needs some workPros:Vehicle was nice. Vehicle was clean. Price was decent. Getting to and from the rental agency was easy by shuttle. Shuttle staff and drop off staff were great. drop off was super easy.Cons:Pick up was a disaster. It was 1230 am on a Friday. We arrived to find over 15 people in line to get their vehicle. The system was down. My complaint is with the staff...not the system. Not once did they announce to the people in line what the delay was or even acknowledge that there was a problem or act in the least bit apologetic. The agents acted as if we were an inconvenience and they were tired and wanted to go home. It took me 2 hours to get my car. F for customer service on the pick up.Reviewed 7 Nov. 2016

Cons:They were closed but until you pay to street park in a busy downtown area, and walk all the way to the building to go in, you had no way to know to use a garage for drop off located right across the street. Even Hertz customer service didn't know about this garage. In basement of hotel so also hard to locate. Could have sign outside for convenience or tell people which garage to drop off in. Have to wait four days until they reopen to make sure everything's ok with check in. Anything could happen in a garage to the car in four days. Bad drop off process.Reviewed 3 Sep. 2018

Car rental not at airportPros:Car got me to where I needed to go and back.Cons:I had to spend a great deal of money to get from the airport to my car and then back to the airport. I rented the car thinking it was at St. Louis airport. However, it was at a different Hertz location. I inquired at the airport location how much it would be to get a car there and they said it would be 5 times the price I reserved with Kayak. The Hertz crew at the airport also would not help me get to the other Hertz location. There are enough car rental companies. Hertz is done. Never will use them again. I, like most others, did not know what the address was for the airport in a city I don't live in. I will take responsibility for not being diligent in confirming that this was the airport Hertz location. However, maybe Kayak/Hertz should consider making sure it is clear that this is not an airport location. I decided to use Kayak and Hertz and was disappointed in both. Hertz carseat rental is NOT child friendlyPros:Shuttle drivers were nice, as were the other Hertz personnel. The vehicle was fine and the cost was par for the course.Cons:We were traveling with 2 babies who needed carseats. Cost to rent them was almost $200 per seat, so we opted to bring our own. In all we had 3 suitcases, one stroller (3 parts to be transported), 2 carseats, 2 babies and 2 adults. A lot of stuff and babies for 2 adults to haul around. The shuttle drop off at the St. Louis airport is not near the ticket counter (not Hertz's fault), but about 100 yards away. So after we got all that stuff out of the car and onto the shuttle, we still had a long way to go. If Hertz were more child friendly on the carseat rental.....Reviewed 4 Sep. 2017

Pros:Easy to find shuttle at airport. Two nice shuttle drivers, friendly. Had Mahogany yesterday. She was very kind and pleasant. Easy checkout in the beginning with a very friendly person. The guy that walked me out to the car, not as friendly. The person in the stall as I'm checking out was a little impatient with me. I was trying to figure out where switches were in the car and he said "Didn't you see me motioning for you/" Really, I have never rented a car by myself before and it all went very smoothly. Location Bait & SwitchCons:I showed up at the St. Louis airport Hertz location - the location I selected when searching for cars - only to be told you'd booked me at another location 45 miles away. I couldn't get there. I spent an hour on the phone trying to switch my reservation. And I nearly missed the meeting I'd flown in for. The folks at the airport location said this happens all the time. I had to make a whole new reservation and pay more for it. I still haven't received reimbursement for my initial reservation either. Waiting on $210. I assume I'll have to spend more frustrating time on the phone trying to get it back.Reviewed 3 Sep. 2018

Did not pick up vehicle; given incorrect location through 3rd partyPros:Everyone that I spoke with was very polite.Cons:Vehicle Pickup location was changed during the booking process. This rental was prepaid. I lost my money and was without a vehicle for the duration of my travel. No one was actually helpful. Everyone simply transferred me to someone else. I never got a working resolution for my issue. When you work with a 3rd party, that implies an endorsement and trust in the business relationship. I was told by two different employees from Hertz that my issue is common and happens all the time. Since there is knowledge of the issue and it has not been fixed, this implies that all parties involved are content to take a customers payment without delivering a service. Good day to everyone involved...never again will I do business with any of the companies (Kayak, Expedia, Carrental.com, Hertz).Reviewed 12 Sep. 2018

Pros:The staff was helpful but hurried. The car was really inexpensive, which was why I went with Hertz for the first time.Cons:The car was somewhat vacuumed on the inside, quite dirty on the outside, with leaves sticking out from under the hood. It was Christmas Eve and they wanted to close early, so they rushed the car up and didn't check it over for scratches or properly record the gas tank level. It was full, but the paperwork said 2/8. Even though it was the end of December, the windshield washer fluid was the summer kind, so it made a useless blue slushy on my windshield. It was almost due for an oil change when I started out. The last day, the cruise control died, the check engine light came on, and it started shaking all over. It was a new Malibu, so I don't know what was with that.
