Loved it--and a great deal
Pros: We rented a VW Jetta, and it was perfect for driving around Arizona and Utah. Thrifty staff were helpful, and it was a no-stress rental--my favorite!

Lucked out with a great price on a one-way rental
Pros: Car was clean, worked well, and you couldn't beat the price. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: The wait in Phoenix felt unnecessarily slow. I wish it had been possible to check in at a kiosk and add an additional driver mid-trip.

Pros: The car was great, and so was the price.
Cons: Picking up the car in PHX was a headache. The line was long and there weren't many staff. Luckily the video-machine allowed me to avoid waiting for hours, but I feel bad for the other folks.

Pros: Good car, easy drop
Cons: At pickup, very understaffed, and poorly organized, making a line of 6 people, a 45 min wait...few cars ready

Great rental at an even better price
Pros: We got a full size car for our Arizona vacation. It was clean, well maintained and had great gas mileage on top of everything.

Pros: I booked "the special deal" and was told that it would be a SUV or intermediate. I was given a COMPACT that barely fit my guests.
Cons: I booked "the special deal" and was told that it would be a SUV or intermediate. I was given a COMPACT that barely fit my guests. I have always rented Thrifty. Now my family I will never do business with this company again.

Easy and cheap
Pros: Quick service and they let me pick my car (within reason).
Cons: Wasn't at the airport, but none of the rentals at PHX are, do not Thrifty's fault.

Pros: It's a car
Cons: Don't go for The skittishly they squeeze you into the smallest car available. Agent was unhelpful at different levels

Pros: The price they quote on kayak was $80. They charged $230.
Cons: The car worked.

Great car, great price, easy return
Pros: I love that you get to pick the car you want to drive, great price and easy return.
Cons: Couldn't rent with a debit card, which is apparently a new rule if you're from Arizona. This caused a problem, since I didn't have a credit card. Charged for 2 calendar days of insurance but you rent for 24 hours.

Inexperienced renters beware
Pros: Choice of car from a selection of about 6 models.
Cons: Being upsold without fully understanding what the gas program was and being given brief explanations when questions were asked. The guy must get a bonus for selling the fuel program, because it was clear I didn't understand it when I asked him how much gas needed to be in the car when I returned it, but he didn't try to explain what he was going to over charge me for. He didn't bother looking at the fact that I was only going to have the car for 2 days and find out if I was planning to do a bunch of driving in those 2 days...cause I wasn't and definitely didn't need to buy a whole tank of gas. I thought I was just buying the gas I used from them at a little bit higher rate, not purchase the full tank. I feel like I was totally taken advantage of. It was worse than dealing with a used car salesman. Cigarette smell in the car - workers didn't seem to think it was a big deal; I had to ask to have it noted so that I wasn't charged for it. This was the first time that I rented a car without my husband; employees were not helpful in walking me through the process, it felt very overwhelming. Returning the car, the guy didn't seem to care about much, and could seem to answer any question; the receipt machine was printing blank paper and he made it the customers problem to deal with if they wanted a receipt (I had to go into the office, find the original contract in all my paperwork, just to get a receipt and make sure I want charged for anything...like the cigarette smoke smell! Not an easy process for an inexperienced car renter. I will go with another company next time.

bait and switch
Cons: They tried to give us a much smaller car then we thought we rented. Then tried to upgrade us fro another $200 for the car we wanted. Did not rent from them. Went to another rental car agency and rented a full size car for less then Thrifty's original price.

Bait and Switch
Cons: Bait and Switch - gave some fictitious photo about a "specialty" vehicle and gave a highly inflated regular price which you are paying so much less with this deal. When you book it and show up, they give you a compact - Thirty staff useless. Biggest rip off Windshield filthy - first and last time with Thrifty

will use Thrifty again! phoenix airport
Pros: we rented through Costco, easy to reserve, got into Phoenix at midnight. got through the airport, the shuttle to the car rental facility. car reserved for us was fine, using costco membership we were able to get an upgrade car model. sky terminal carousel we really pain-free - all the car rental shops in one location - returning car back was no problem either, just drive into the facility, talk a few minutes with the check in representative, give her the keys and we were off to the shuttle to the airport.
Cons: color of the car - grey - boring!! just kidding...

Professional friendly staff.
Pros: Car was clean and the upgrade was appropriate for my needs.

Pros: Car was clean and worked well.
10 Mar 2017
Pros: I liked that Thrifty's wait time (short line of people! M
Cons: Three things! The first thing, is that we booked a special rate thru Kayak and the vehicle pictured for this rate was a Nissan Rouge! The rate that was quoted by Kayak was somewhere in the neighborhood of $250! Thrifty said that there was no way that they could give me a small SUV at that rate!! They said that that I would need to take up my issue with Kayak! They charged us over 350 dollars for a small Volkswagen SUV!! That to me is false advertising by Kayak!!

Pros: The gentleman that helped us with getting the car was very friendly and helpful. We got in and out quickly
Cons: The car drove nicely but was really uncomfortable (seats).

Not a full size
Pros: I received a car that works with GPS although the GPS wasn't that great
Cons: They were inflexible with changes: I signed up for a full sized car because I had 5 adults. What I received was a car classified by the maker as a midsized car. We tried it out but knew it was going to be uncomfortable to drive for three hours straight. We came back to the dealership and they were going to let us upgrade to a van only the van was going to cost an additional $500 for the remaining 5 days. They are just trying to get you in a tight spot and then take advantage of you.

Terrible service. Never again
Cons: the rental did not happen because thrifty does not have chip readers and my bank refused to accept there system Never with thrifty or kayak

Cons: Kayak site listed a Ford Focus or similar when I booked a compact. I booked based on that info. When I arrived at location I was offered much smaller cars in that compact group... too small to fit 4 adults as intended. They stated they do not even rent Ford Focus. I was forced to spend over 100 more for the correct size car. Thrifty site does not list ford focus, but was shown this way on Kayak. Same issue with Kayak listings for Dollar rental car
