Pros: "The staff were great!! Always helpful and very friendly! The added flight from Ottawa to Toronto had fantastic staff as well. Would've been nice to have someone waiting for us at the Ottawa gate as we all missed our flights."
Cons: "The day was extended by 10 hours. It seemed like each time I was redirected including the added flight to Ottawa I was set up to miss a flight. I was sent to Ottawa because there wasn't enough oxygen on the flight to Toronto. 15 passengers missed our flight to Toronto because we left Fredericton late which put us on a new flight 2 hours later, that had mechanical issues so again a missed flight. I am happy they do their due diligence with safety, but it created a long day. They also had to stop food service before they got to me so I wasn't able to get food."

Cons: "We were already running late when during take off, one of the engines malfunctioned and we had to emergency break on the runway and go back to the gate. Because it was unexpected, we had to wait even longer for a gate to become available. We then had to re go through customs and get our bags then wait in line again at the counter to schedule our flight for the next day. Thankfully we were given a hotel room and money for food. Very scary experience overall on the runway, but they tried to handle it as smoothly as possible under the unusual circumstances."

The screen didn't indicate that it was going to be delayed. There was no one from the crew or AC at all at the gate until 8:30. No announcement, whatsoever. Then when we finally arrived at SFO, the plane was circling above SFO in a storm for another one hour and fifteen minutes..."

ALL overhead compartments were empty. Both flights - Quebec to Montreal and Montreal San Francisco were late. As the result, we have to spend 1.5 hours in the baggage claim area, because "there are no baggage agents in SFO available". THAT WAS THE WHOLE REASON WE ONLY HAD CARRY-ONS! By far, one of the worst flight experience in the last 10 year."

Cons: "Delay with boarding for about hour without a good explanation. All monitors in airport shows plane on time when it actually was not. Boarding process also took a bit of time perhaps due to many elderly on the flight. Seating was also confusing as the middle seats did not correspond with aisle seating. This caused delays as passengers had to figure out where they were sitting. Checked in luggage at gate since flight was full and we were asked to volunteer to check-in luggage. At baggage claim, bag delay to retrieve luggage after already hour delay in departure. Bags was not labeled or categorized correctly causing an extra half hour delay to claim bags."
Cons: "Air Canada shares a trait with many other incompetent organizers: everything is fine if nothing goes wrong, but there are no contingency plans in place in case something goes wrong. So, things get more and more delayed. Can't you predict roughly when the plane is going to land (once it is in the air!) and arrange for some gate to be open, so that we don't have to sit on the ground for 45 minutes once it has landed, for example? People who know how to organize are ordinarily capable of doing that. Furthermore, the lack of transparency is really frustrating: we just sit on the tarmac with no indication of how long we're going to be there, and the estimates of the delays are completely wrong when we're given them."

Cons: "if i knew the name of the man i talked to at checkin i would make a complaint specifically about him. i lost my passport a few days before coming home and went to the united states consulate where they told me to bring a printed copy of my passport and the united states boarding patrol would let me back into the united states. the man at the checkin didn't want to let me through to even speak to the united states border patrol and told me the consulate was wrong. i almost missed my flight because of his stubborn arrogance. once past him i was able to explain what happened and show what identification I had and everyone was very nice to me."

I ended up waiting an additional 2 and a half hours before the flight took off -- in this time I also requested for a blanket since the air craft got cold. There was an extra charge for this as well. It is ridiculous considering, the purpose of my flight choice was to ensure that I saved time and in return I paid for the convenience, ironically it didn't work out that way. There was no form of compensation."

So I Had to call three company.. Asiana, Kayak, air canada... that was horrible time. Air canada didn't want to have responsibility about missing air plane. That's why I had to contact with Asiana...the first time Asiana didn't want to prepare air plane for free... I had to try to explain my situation and problem three times.... Finally I got a ticket for free from Asiana. I could departure at 9pm from Toronto. I stayed in Pearson air port for 15hours... because of Air canada's GOOD!! customer service v^^v..... I will never use Air canada !!"

Cons: "So, we'll start with boarding. Why airlines can't figure out to board the plane from back to front is beyond me. No, let's load front to back so everyone has to uncomfortably shove past the people who have already taken their seats at the front of the plane. Then you get back there and all the overhead bins are full because everyone takes as many bags as possible onto the plane. Then you have to sacrifice the already tiny amount of foot room, "to put the bag fully underneath the seat in front of you." At this point you should be fine, except if you're over five and a half feet tall (I don't know if that's true I'm 6'2" and 275 lbs,) because then your knees are going to be buried so deep in the chair in front of you that the person up there doesn't even need a seat they can just sit on your knees. Luckily for you tall people, they put a nice metal rod just about knee level to really dig in and cause pain . . . Yay! Being a big guy, you try to be considerate and fold your arms in to give the person next to you as much space as possible, but don't expect that back as they'll spread out and become as wide as possible. Then to distract yourself from the discomfort, you try to use the free in flight entertainment via the United app, but "it's not available right now." In summation either be short and small or be rich and buy the seats with extra legroom when you fly United."

The thing that took the cake was that the cabin crew absolutely refused to let me take one of the 5 empty exit row seats telling me that it wasn't fair to the people who paid more, which absolutely enraged me. So then apparently it's also fair that their seats will fit someone who is 5'-4" comfortably but not someone who is 6'-4"?? So it's fair that I can't afford to pay an extra $100+ for it after my profession got gutted in the recession and I make a fraction now of that I used to make? Making your customers suffer for no good reason is inexcusable. I will not be flying United again. Ever."

The gate was switched to C11. However, my app did not alert me nore did it reflect the gate change. I didn't receive a text or email update. I had to walk for 30 minutes with my heavy carry-on to find the correct gate. Then the flight was so incredibly delayed because a flight attendant decided to just not show up for work. So unprofessional! If the flight had been delayed because of uncontrollable conditions, then that would be another story, but come on! A flight attendant not showing up for work? That's pathetic."
