Pros: "Japan Airline is a notch above the rest. The services was constant and consistent, the food was delicious and abundant, and the seats were comfortable. I was surprised at how often they would go up and down the aisles checking on passengers, picking up trash, and serving small food items. To top it off towards the end of the trip they put toothbrushes in the bathroom so you can leave fresh, awesome."

Altogether we we had a 14-hour day or so of flying with two small children and it could have easily been a 20-hour-or-more day of flying had Japan Airlines not been so great at what they do. We can't say enough about how amazed and blessed we were by their customer service."

Pros: "I loved flying JAL! I've flown several times between the US and Korea, and this was the best trip I've taken thus far! It was comfortable, the plane was awesome with high ceilings and it actually felt quite spacious. The entertainment was also perfect with tons of stuff to choose from. The best part, though, was their exemplary customer service! I needed to transport cold insulin, so at the gate counter I checked with the gate agent to see if they could refrigerate my insulin since I had a long travel time to my home destination. She promptly found out for me and talked to the flight attendants and told me they would take care of it when I got to my seat. She even checked to see if I needed a special meal or not after I finding out I was diabetic. They were so kind! They even let me refreeze my cold packs in their freezer before landing so I could keep my insulin cold after we landed. It was a huge help and they seemed genuinely concerned for my well being and what I needed. I will now fly JAL whenever I can!"

Descent into Washington Reagan National freaked me out because the plane was flying eratically while being so close to the ground and recognizable landmarks."

"Food from Philippines to Japan was excellent but served a little late. Food from Japan to USA WAS LOUSY and they only served hot food one time for breakfast which means 2 hours away from arrival. Hot food meal should have been served 2 hours after boarding in an airport where everything ia closed after 9 pm. Some of the connecting passengers did not have a hot meal for at least 12 hours or maybe more."

The food was quite bad, normally I would choose the Japanese meal, however, both the Japanese and International options were poor. The staff seemed unorganized and did not follow a set protocol."

Pros: "I had a headache and I asked for getting aspirin to one flight attendant. Later on, I found out that many attendants were aware of my situation and kindly checked-in regularly if I was OK. Excellent hospitality no matter what kind of class your seat was!"

Pros: "Don't cheap out on your flights to Japan because this ANA flight from New York/JFK to Haneda was the correct way to go. Japanese-style hospitality, respect and quality of service (which is beyond the heavens) shows from check-in to landing (and even post-landing.) The in-flight meals, inspired by Japanese recipes of the Japanese destination or origin, were finely made - that goes even for Economy Class. When there was a delay that was ultimately out of their control, they made things right with post-landing arrangements. Never take any other country's airline when flying into Japan - always always ALWAYS take ANA whenever you can. (Avoid codeshares, too!!)"

The movie selection was solid (but badly organized) and the TV show selection wasn't terrible. It should all be better. Come on ANA! Contact me for recommendations."

Pros: "EVA graciously accept a name correction to my ticket where most of my name was correct but the first name wasnt. A big help. Unlike travelling in and out of China. So, i appreciated this help. Flying out at 2 am and arriving Taipei at 5 am was a good time choice too. Service on board was good. Lots of refreshments served. Nice plates used for meals in economy."

Pros: "I liked that the Airline was very accommodating in arranging an alternate flight for me, after they caused me to miss my Connecting flight in Taipei, due to the delay in Hong Kong. I didn't mind being redirected through Seattle first, and then on to Chicago, but. . . . ."
Cons: "The 1hr, 40 minute delay in Hong Kong ended up costing me 11 hours of additional travel time to reach my final destination. The Airline arranged for the last leg of my flight to Chicago from Seattle to be on a different Airline, and it wasn't so comfortable. Arrangements were made by the airline in Taipei for my flight out of Chicago for me also, but with a 4 hours layover and on a "Standby" condition. This I didn't understand because there was a much earlier flight leaving Chicago on this same airline and it wasn't full. Staff at the ticket counter did eventually correct it to the earlier flight for me."

Pros: "the management of EVA is excellent....from reservation to check in...in flight service is also excellent....seats not as comfortable as China Airlines....and the entertainment choices were disappointing....food taste and presentation was excellent....it is a very good airline...."

Pros: "The crew was fantastic. I was not well throughout the entire flight and they went out of their way repeatedly to make sure I was as comfortable as possible, including giving up two of their own crew seats to me for most of the 14 hour flight from Taipei to New York. The crew also made sure that the bathrooms were kept stocked and cleaned. This is something you don't see enough of in other airlines where the bathrooms become disgusting by around mid-flight on long-haul flights. The entertainment systems are modern and designed well for practical use, unlike some other airlines that still have many or all controls situated on the armrests. They use quality touchscreens which control everything including the overhead light and attendant call button. I also like the fact that I could check 2 bags and select my seat without any fees unlike too many other airlines are doing today."

They have very few New Releases and don't seem to update them at the beginning of the month compared to many other airlines, such as Cathay Pacific. On long flights this is one thing that should be given more attention."

Cons: "My wife and I were scheduled to fly out of Taipei on the day a major typhoon made a direct hit on Taiwan. Taipei was shut down, offices and shops were closed, residents were sheltering at home, and other carriers had cancelled essentially all flights during the 10 hours when the storm was projected to be over the island and had posted long delays (of 8 and 10 hours and longer) on their uncancelled flights. Only EVA stubbornly clung to the fiction that our flight and others would actually depart -- and depart on time. EVA's refusal to acknowledge reality -- and timely communicate that reality to its customers -- made planning impossible, stranding passengers at hotels without bookings, preventing contingency planning and forcing many passengers to make needless trips to the airport over treacherous roads made hazardous by heavy flooding, downed trees, blowing debris, high winds and blinding rain. EVA's decisions cost us money, inconvenience, time and anxiety. For the passengers and crews on inbound planes that EVA actually landed or tried to land in Taipei that day, the consequences were worse: head and other injuries from extreme turbulence and hard landings, and then hours on tarmacs unable to deplane because the winds were above the maximum level for the safe deployment of jetways. Getting out the next day with an upgrade to business class doesn't do it for me. I am a United 1K-Star Alliance Gold flyer. I fly a fair amount and I expect, above all else, an uncompromising focus on safety and clear, candid and timely communication. Never again EVA."

"There was a misunderstanding during check in that it was a mandatory requirement to make hotel reservations for quarantine without it you can’t board the airline.So we had to booked a hotel last minute and it was the wrong hotel since it’s not accredited by DOH Philippines. Since it was last minute we can’t get a refund or cancel the hotel. It was stressful and unnecessary hassle."

If they had brought out stairs and buses immediately, instead of waiting so long, we might have made it to the buses."

Also the display screen kept coming on, alone by just accidentally striking the switches on the armrest when moving. Not the best design, if this keeps happening."

Cons: "It was rough knowing who to get in contact with when my flight was rescheduled to arrive a day later than I planned. This was last minute and I was very concerned that I would have to have an overnight layover in Seoul and arrive a day late in Vietnam."

Cons: "The entertainment console was very outdated. You couldn't select a movie as it played on a reel--so you had to wait until it was over to watch it. ALso, the screen would go blank or black and would be fuzzy not due to turbulence but just plain bad equipment. The stewardess couldn't help as it was something they could obviously not correct. This made the 12 hour flight not fun."

Cons: "One of the lady flight attendant in the economy class seemed to be not in a good mood and was quite rude."

Pros: "The departure and arrival times were good in order to sleep the night, and wake up in Tokyo refreshed. Cabin crew were fairly friendly, but not the Cathay of a few years ago."

This meant the seat was in that position until time to land. So I had to make a choice to sleep or eat, horrible for CX."

Insufficient food for a 15 hour flight with no snacks offered except for two minute noodles in a cup which they ran out of. Catered mostly for Chinese passengers. Entertainment was very poor too, only a small number of English movies with the majority of entertainment in Chinese. Crew were rude and dismissive. Overall a great disappointment."
