dongals dont workCons:Was given first car with key dongal that would not open car, after returning to front desk told them situation, got another car went back out and up to level 3 again and guess what 2nd car , key dongle had dead batteries as well and would not work. So I just went with it and used the key instead. Was unable to lock and lock doors remotely. After driving the car which had 44k miles, the steering wheels shook like someone had been jumping curbs with it. I only had for one day so o well. Good experience overallPros:Fast Extended my rental for 2 days, it was very easy (once I managed to communicate with someone)Cons:Impossible to communicate with the toll free number, I had to call the HNL location Due to a flight delay we arrived to HNL 6 hours later, the initial reservation was automatically cancelled after 2 hours. I had to rent a different car and more expensive. This can be easily resolved by linking a flight information.Reviewed 15 Feb. 2016

the pick up and drop off werent very nice and frieCons:when i went to pick up the car they didnt have my class so they propose me a beteer class for a bit more money, but at the end it was a lot more money, so i felt that i was being taking care advantage of. Then i had to refuse even thoug the teller taught that it was normal and acceptable to do such. So they had to cancel the first transaction and at the end they gave me a car that they told me was still a better class but it wasnt. At beginning was suppose to get a class standard, a hyundai sonata, they offered me a beetle cabriolet not for the same price but almost double cost wich i refused and at the end i got a mazda 6 wich is a standard class but told me it was full class wich is not, the mazda 6 and hyundai sonata are the same class so i was lied too. And on plus the pick up took about an hour to do because of all that confusion. And the drop off was complicated to find the location, when i arrived the person wasnt very friendly and the pressure of tires was on mentionning that pressure was low, telling that i might have to pay for dammage when they didnt show me the proof of any dammage. Overall i got a mediocre first experience with your company, probably will nver rent with you guys again.Reviewed 4 Apr. 2016

Okay service, car had lot of dings/ scratchesPros:Car worked fine for duration rentedCons:I didn't like that they were trying to upsell everyone in front of us in line especially foreigners who don't understand what they are telling them. Which resulted in longer wait times even with only a few people in line. I'm just thankful the line wasn't longer than it was. I also didn't like that my car had dings and scratches on every side and the roof. One would think that if they are going to charge customers for insurance or damage caused they would have some money to get the cars repaired. That way I wouldn't have to spend half an hour marking all the damaged areas on the form.Reviewed 14 Sep. 2016

Pros:Car was clean, return was easy. Didn't require a shuttle to get to the rental place - I am not sure if that has changed recently? Made the directions confusing but was fast to get there.Cons:Horrible experience, waited over 2 hours at the airport after a long day of flying to be handed the keys to our 100% prepaid rental. Customer service was a complete joke, the one attendant had an attitude issue and insisted everyone put there name on a three page list instead of waiting in line to be served. That would have been helpful except when people walked up to the counter the other agents would just serve them first. Everyone working there went at a snails pace and offered no apologies or explanation for the wait. It was the worst welcome to Hawaii and the over two hour wait meant finding our hotel in the dark and getting caught in a rain storm closing the highway to get to our hotel. This place is a joke, it is cheap, yes but you get what you pay for!Reviewed 8 Mar. 2018

Not for city travelPros:It ranCons:Was told wrangler had all power options...incorrectly. Manual windows...very dangerous at airports no being able to roll windows down to talk to parking officials. No power locks...had to manually lock and unlock all doors one at a time....in the rain! Tires were shot, very very noisy and poor tread. Vehicle had 33,000 miles and was very abused...5-10 medium dents, floor boards were soaking wet. Suspension was very lose and sloppy when going over bumpy sections of highway, felt unsafe. Seat cushion worn out, like sitting In a chair with giant hole in bottom. No power mirrors, very dangerous when unable to adjust passenger side mirror. Never imagined a rental car would not have power windows/locks/Mirrors. Completely unsafe and unacceptable, for a rental vehicleReviewed 28 May 2017

was charged 8.44 gal for fillupCons:both my husband and I distinctly recall asking to prepay for a tank of gas when we signed up, we even had a conversation with the counter person regarding the closed stations since the light rail system went in. Upon returning the car, the lackluster attendant charged us 8.44 for a tank of gas as the prepay was left off by the agent. Trying to plead our case proved futile as she printed out our receipt and told us to take it back to the counter to dispute our claim. Now, in the past this happened to me once before in Boston, and the attendant was kind enough to charge me the prepay rate on the spot so I know it can be done. We did not have enough time before our flight to schepp all the way back to the counter and discuss the matter further and regrettably paid 8.44 per gallon for our tank of gas. The unwillingness of the attendant to work with us earns the poor marks for this review. The car itself was fine and the location convenient.Reviewed 3 Feb. 2017

Never Rent from Advantage...AWFULCons:We pre-reserved 2 car seats, which they had no idea where they were. Waited over an hour at midnight with a 2 & 3 yr old while they searched for car seats. Car seats finally arrived and they were not the right size, were past their expiration date and had MOLD on them. The staff was confused as to why we we had a problem with mold. Also, the car seats were filthy. Staff was horrible and completely unhelpful and could care less. I finally walked over to Hertz and rented a vehicle. Bummer forced upgradePros:Rental process was fine, return was fine.Cons:When we arrived to rent our car, our flight had come in early. When we tried to pick up our rental, they said that there were no full-size cars available at that time (what we paid for) and they suggested that we upgrade so we paid to get a car. Our "upgrade" Dodge Charger, we figured out the next day, had the bumper protector dragging on the ground so it made tons of noise and people were looking at our car as we drove by. We lived with it because when we called, they offered to exchange it but we were staying an hour away and didn't want to drive back to the airport. One customer service rep was really helpful and credited us a day rental fee (still less than the upgrade charge) but it didn't even post to our final bill. Overall, I felt like they were pushed to "upgrade" but didn't truly provide any upgrade at all.Reviewed 19 Jul. 2018

Do not recommen AvantagePros:Return was easy.Cons:Advantage is very slow picking up a car. It took about 20 minutes with the associate to fill out all the paper work. While I waited, Hertz took care of 3 customers and sent them on their way with a vehicle. The second associate at the counter was working with another customer before I arrived and was still working with them after I was finished. The GPS (Tom-Tom) I rented, did not work well and was useless. If it is the Tom-Tom, I will never recommend Tom-Tom to anyone. It may have just been the one I was using. Cons:My sister and I originally were going to share the cost of the car rental, but she got sick and needed surgery so she cancelled her car reservation. I needed to cover both time periods. I had one reservation and my sister had another reservation from a different car company. I called Advantage and was told they couldn't extend the time period so I had to made two separate reservations. When I got to Hawaii, I asked the person at the counter if I could just have the car for the whole two weeks without bringing the car in. Again, I was told I needed to bring the car in. Pros:Did get an SUV as we had requested/reserved. Price for SUV was better than other company prices at this location.Cons:1) Called to assure that we would receive an SUV, necessary because of my spouse's wheelchair; still could not guarantee SUV availability. 2) Asked check-in person for a receipt; he said "e-mail", turned, and walked away 3) Left "disability parking placard" in car. Realized mistake before I reached terminal and returned to rental return area. Individuals were unable/unwilling to help me find or retrieve the placard, even though only 10 minutes had passed. 4) STILL have NOT RECEIVED e-mail receipt (7 days later!!!) Would NEVER use again, regardless of price!!!!!Reviewed 15 May 2017
