Pros:Staff was great a helpful.Cons:The cars are garbage. They happily switched them out after I had to drive 40 minutes all the way back toward the airport just to return it because of engine problems, then the new one they switched out for was breaking down too. The cigarette outlet was shot so we couldn’t use the car features and the passenger door handle was broken so my husband couldn’t even get in the car himself without me having to open his door from the inside. Really really poorly maintained vehicles.Reviewed 21 Jan. 2021

Pros:Price was very good, staff in the office were very friendly and efficient.Cons:The car was older and had some minor issues. The airport pickup did not follow social distancing expectations and the driver got in a very hostile verbal altercation with one of the other passengers that brought it up respectfully.Reviewed 18 Feb. 2021

Cons:Drop off. I was told to wait in case when dropping off my vehicle. I waited for 15 mins before someone else pulled up, who immediately went inside and came back with a rep. Even after the other customer told the red twice that I was here first, the rep continued to help them, causing my passenger to go inside for help. Once inside the manager talked around my passenger as if she wasn't there and was very rude.Reviewed 25 Jan. 2021

Customer friendlyPros:Rented a car in Honolulu. On the 4th day, an image of the engine light came on. They were happy to exchange it for another car. Rental rates good.Cons:Cars were older models. First one was 2007 Chevy Impala and the second one was 2012 Nissan Altima. The cars were in good condition.Reviewed 6 Jun. 2016

Never pick us upPros:There was nothing to like!Cons:Call to tell economy we were going to be last pick up. I spoke to manger "Panda" and he assured me saying they will pick us up with their shuttle and will stay a little late to give us our car -- they never showed up so we took a $50 cab ride to the office and it was closed. We were so upset!! We asked the cab driver to take us to our hotel which was another $45 cab ride. I called their customer service line and a gentleman named Javier answered and said it was completely unexceptable on they're behalf. NEVER RENT YOUR VEHICLE FROM "A1" or "ECONOMY RENT A CAR"Reviewed 18 Jul. 2016

Cons:I booked last minute due to travel.changes and the virus situation. I think the saying you get what you pay for makes more sense. The car was 25 per day in Hawaii. Ok that was nice, but the car was not clean, it literally has a banged up bumper and the gal Danielle says no worries, it drives well. The inside was not clean. Had wet spots from were some people last were at beach. And a 3 days supply of tampons in the glove box, Mahalo. We appreciated the texas guy at check out. He was kind to welcome us back to the lot, we gave him our left over water pack from Costco. I get the economy side of it, but the key fab didn't unlock the door,. But locked it. We good gas mileage on the versa..... we got what we paid for..... we appreciate the smile from the driver taking us on free airport shuttle. The virus travel will impact the company and it will slow down. Perhaps take time.to clean the inside of cars......Reviewed 20 Mar. 2020

Pros:It was very cheapCons:The facility is also a used car dealer. It's super tight getting in and out and at one point, someone's suitcase was run over by the shuttle. We got lucky and the shuttle was right there both at the airport and leaving the rental facility but it's about ten min away so be prepared. The wait to pick up was pretty long and the employees (with the exception of the shuttle driver) were pretty miserable. The car itself was a few years old and pretty bare bones. We rented a mid size car and got a Sentra, probably 3-4 years old - no back up camera, no Bluetooth and the audio display didn't work which was pretty frustrating. All that said, it was about $100 cheaper than the other options so it was kind of expected. I read several horror stories about this place and I'm sure they're all true but we thankfully weren't that unlucky. Just don't expect the brand new car friendly experience you'd get from sixt or budget or any of the other big names.Reviewed 19 Nov. 2019

Never answered their phone or had a shuttle come tPros:Nothing!Cons:This was the worst rental car company I've ever come across. I get to the HNL airport with my wife and infant, grab our bags and head to the rental car shuttle area. I immediately call their number to make sure I'm in the right spot. I get a recording telling me where to go. It says a shuttle bus is consistently running. We wait there for 45 min and no shuttle bus. We call back and try to get someone on the phone but it's just the answering machine, so we leave a message. We wait another 30 min outside....still no shuttle. We start to read the reviews on Yelp...all of the reviews are terrible! There are pictures of bugs in their car, terrible service and of course - the shuttle bus not showing up at the airport. I go to kayak.com to book another rental car at Dollar. Within 2 minutes, a shuttle is there to pick us up, the driver is the nicest guy ever, and we are literally checked out and driving away within 10 minutes. NEVER BOOK ECONOMY!!! THEY WILL NOT PICK YOU UP!Reviewed 19 Sep. 2016

Poor customer service, beat up carPros:Hm, let's see, we got a car after all. Also, shuttle driver tried to be friendly.Cons:Customer service is very poor. I wasn't sure where to wait for a shuttle so I gave them a call. They said "Just wait for a shuttle, man", and hung up. The shuttle was super beat up, but the driver at least was friendly. Check in experience was very poor. There is a very long wait. Clerks are super slow and not very friendly. I booked "Full size" car (e.g. Altima) but of course they tried to give me Honda Civic and said that "Full size" is not a thing, they only have "Compact" and "Standard" or what have you. I booked through the aggregator. I had to pay to actually get Altima. The car that I got was super beat up. There was no single body part that wasn't scratched. The car ran ok. Check out experience was very poor. The sign on the wall says "Prak your car and patiently wait for clerk". Of course clerk never showed up until I went to get them. Before returning a car I vacuumed it to remove the sand, but they made me vacuum it all over again because there was still a little bit of sand left, otherwise they would charge $50. The contract said "excessive amount of sand". There was barely any sand. Very poor experience overall.Reviewed 16 Jan. 2019

Not what I expected.....Pros:It was cheap...Cons:Maybe I've gotten too used to renting from places like Enterprise and Hertz, where the car you get still has the new car smell and the odometer is less than 5 digits. The cars at this place date back a few years, the mileage is high, and you can see the wear and tear. Our car had its fair share of bumps and bruises, and a strange smell too. My main complaint falls more on the booking company, CarRentals.com. I clearly chose a full size car in my reservation, but upon arriving at Economy, they were only willing to offer a midsize vehicle. In order to get a full size, I would be charged an additional fee each day, which I didn't think was fair. I tried getting in touch with CarRentals.com directly, but I finally gave up after holding for nearly an hour.`Reviewed 7 Oct. 2018
