Hertz price does not reflect true price. Upon arrival they state Costa Rica law you must get insurance from them only. So if one pays from the site they have to pay again. Should be told before booking if that’s the law. And reflect the price correctly. False advertising and price alteration not great for consumers.Reviewed 18 Aug 2024

Everything was fine except for letting me know at the counter I had to buy liability insurance in Costa Rica that is the law. I have car insurance through my credit card but was told unless provided a letter stating it covers liability and gave them a $5,000 deposit, I had to buy their insurance. The insurance ended up costing more than the car charges. This is something that should be explained prior to making a reservation.Reviewed 6 Aug 2024

We were told that insurance would b $15-20 a day, and it ended up bein $80 / day and cost more than the rental itself. We compared the charge to the other family who joined us and rented via Hertz, and our insurance cost was 3x what they were charged. We do plan to dispute this charge with our credit card company and will be giving a negative review on google, yelp, etc.Reviewed 5 Aug 2024

They charged me triple what kayak quoted me, gave me a massive song and dance about how kayak and all 3rd party places are scams and I shouldn’t use them. Gas gauge on the rig was broken to always show full, discovered the truck was down 12 liters of diesel when I picked it up. I still did the ethical thing and topped it off to fill before drop off. The big kicker!! The G-D airport shuttle guy has taken the rest of the day off and I had to pay $15 US for a taxi 1.5 miles down the road! This was at like 8:40 PM when they advertise shuttle is available until 10 pm.Reviewed 5 Jul 2024

Kayak sold me an invalid insurance that was not licensed in Costa Rica leading me to believe the rental was about half the cost of what it ended up being.. had I known the cost up front, I would not have booked the reservation. The beginning of our trip felt like a scam and now I have to try and get a refund for invalid insurance. WATCH OUT FOR THIS SCAMReviewed 29 Apr 2024
