Cons: The price shown on the website doesn't show the actual price one has to pay upon arrival. According to the Europcar agent, every renter MUST pay a mandatory insurance imposed by the Mexican government, which is not covered by one's credit card car insurance. I ended up paying $231.17 USD (for 4 days total) instead of the $40 USD as shown on the website. On the other side, the car I had requested wasn't available and I had to pay a higher price than actually expected because the categories in Europcar (luxury, suv, van, for example) differ from the ones shown on the website. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with the lack of accurate information that Kayak provided me with and will never use this service again!

Cons: They require you to buy their insurance which doubles the cost of the rental. I have rental car insurance for Mexico included in my credit card benefits but they would not recognize it claiming that I needed to present a letter of approval signed by a Mexican government insurance regulator. This should be disclosed up front at the time of booking and the cost of insurance should be added to the quoted rental cost since it is required.

Cons: Did the booking ahead and when came to pick up, they didn't have a car for me. Have done another booking ahead again to get a car in the next two days, and they didn't have a car again. When they finally got a car for me, they wanted to upsell insurance although I was covered through my credit card for car rental and had a proof. When I declined to buy extra insurance (liability is included) they said that I have to leave a deposit $7000 USD, which is pretty much a cost of a new car.

Insurance is the issue
Pros: The car was fine. Takes a little longer to get contract processed then we are used to in the US. Biggest issue is cost of insurance. They required two insurance forms from my bank before they'd allow me to utilize the theft and damage coverage that is available automatically through my credit card. My bank knew of one of the forms, not the second. I'm currently challenging my credit card company to claim the excessive insurance fee.
