Pros:They did not have any records of my reservation and required a long wait.
2.0 Bad
Pros:Absolutely nothing.
Cons:The Europcar agent at Athens airport informed me upon arrival that as of a few months ago they no longer honor a US driver's license, and refused to rent me the vehicle I had reserved. This was never mentioned when I had made the reservation. To rectify the situation, I then suggested changing the driver on the reservation to another family member with whom I was traveling who had a driver's license from another country, one that they did honor. The Europecar agent however refused this as well, insisting that they are unable to modify reservations, nor make new ones at that facility. They insisted that I had to do this through Europcar's reservation call center, which is only open during limited business hours (this was after midnight on a Saturday). We had to make our way to our hotel 30km away by other means, and made a call to Europcar's reservation line when they opened the next morning. On the call, they informed us that the vehicle in question was no longer available, nor any other vehicle for our time frame. They also confirmed that what their agent at the airport told me about not being able to modify or make new reservations at that facility, was untrue. They could have, and should have. The Europcar agent at the airport simply got her jollies by screwing over an American, which came through loud and clear in her demeanor. The Europcar agent at their reservation call center wasn't quite as rude, but was still entirely unhelpful, took no responsibility on behalf of Europcar, and was unwilling to make any effort to rectify the situation. Europcar simply left us high and dry. We were lucky to be able to find another suitable vehicle for our trip with a local no-name company, but had to waste half a day tracking one down, as this was peak season and all the mainstream rental companies as well as most of the obscure local ones were fully booked. Europcar never again.

Cons:I purchased insurance through Travelocity, but at pickup was told Costa Rica requires government car insurance which was over double the cost of the rental. Travelocity should not have offered insurance and now I’m waiting for a refund from the Travelocity insurance. The car was dirty and pick up and drop off took forever. The shuttle took over a half hour and didn’t show up so they finally took us in another shuttle first stating the car didn’t work, then that it wasn’t a shuttle, finally they took us in that car.

Pros:I liked NOTHING
Cons:They forced me to pay 200 dols extra for an insurance that I already had covered. The lines are of about 1 hour or 1 hour and half. Then, they take like half hour to bring the car; moreover, everything is a mess, and the workers have NO manners. Do not trust this company. The police extortioned me and then I read online it is a group of hotels and car rentals that send you the police to tell you that you are speeding when you are not; they threaten you to take you away, to disappear your license, and etc if you do not give them 160 dollars. Everybody has the same complaint; I got mugged by police car # 5107 - 510. never back to this company.
4.0 Mediocre
Cons:After booking the car and insurance on Kayak, the Europcar representatives in Nice ended up charging me for an upgrade I explicitly declined onsite. They offered me a chance to upgrade from a manual car to an automatic car with GPS, but I very clearly said "no, thanks," declining their offer. And to my dismay, after nearly 30 minutes of paperwork and waiting in the Europcar office, I found in the garage a block away that the car they gave me the keys to was an automatic with GPS. I was in a hurry so didn't have the time to go back to the office and dispute this suspicious misunderstanding, but hoped that they would honor my word and not charge me for the upgrade. When billed for the rental afterwards, they charged me for the upgrade I didn't want! Spineless.

Pros:We ended up liking Fiats...everything else was completely dominated & overshadowed by a level of customer service difficult to describe...
Cons:Let's be clear the car, a Fiat, was an outstanding auto, but--- How this company gets away with its level of customer service is start the up-selling at time of pick-up, no matter how friendly, is manipulative & simply a money grab; but then---we had a terrifying incident where we forced into a wall by an oncoming motorcycle who appeared to do it on purpose; car was scraped & dented; repeated phone calls to Europcar went to voice mail with NO response to messages; repeated emails were ignored except 2 weeks later we got their standard "difficult question, need time to answer" response, which they always eventually send no matter the question; [I'm still waiting for a response to one I sent in January!!]......of course there was no one in the office to talk with when we dropped the car off in Florence, but I think they will blame that on our "early" flight time, 9:55am...and today we got the bill: after renting the car for a month for 221 euros plus liability insurance, [plus other difficult-to-understand charges], our final bill is 1708 is going to take longer than our vacation lasted just to figure out the bill!!

Pros:On return the Customer Serivice representative noticed my mom’s limited mobility and without question he said for her to in the car and her would drop her off for us at the departure doors.
Cons:We booked onsite pickup as i’m Travelling with my 85 year old mother who has limited mobility and was given shuttle service where I had to abandon my mom for over an hour with all the luggage while I went to a second line up. We booked a 4 door ford fiesta (or similar ) and we where given a smaller Hyundai 4 door model. This was very difficult as we need to travel with mobility walkers plus luggage. I rented from Euro car via Kayak before in Belgium & France and never had these issues. We checked prior to booking that my current car insurance covers world wide coverage for rental car I also checked with VISA the rental car coverage and they provided me we documents that ensure I wouldn’t have to purchase additional coverage but once we arrived the Customer Service representative stated that there is an additional 3rd party coverage that Euro Car needs us to purchase. No where in the original booking does it state that additional insurance coverage is required. I checked with other rental car companies online throughout Kayak and they state in their pricing the 3rd party coverage is included.
