Then to top it off, we’ve landed and been told that it will be at least an hour before we can deplane due to no availability at the gate (it’s 1145 pm right now). All this plus their new policy of not allowing us to select our seats because we bought the cheapest tickets. Really Delta? You go ahead and cater to the rich and I’ll choose to fly with another airline."

So, they put on the next flight... 6 hours later. Said I could fly without the bag... uh, no thanks. They would not look for alternatives without charging me more. Flight attendants were crabby, otherwise everything was fine. I flew British Airways a few months ago. Night and day. Seriously. Delta does not even approach having good service. There was no comparison to British Air--- Delta is not in the same league."

Cons: "We booked with Delta, but were put on Air France. Even though we had our boarding passes in hand we had to wait in long, slow line for baggage tags because they would not print from kiosk. There was minimal Air France staff on duty serving thousands of passengers during busy season (July). While the lines grew larger, the staff was reduced from 4 to 2. Another long, slow line for customs, another long slow line for security=Charles De Gaulle airport was awful. We arrived at the airport 4 hours before our departure time and got to our boarding gate with no time to spare."
Pros: "My first and last time flying Delta! Everything that could have went wrong, did in fact go wrong. We were re-booked on connecting flights different then the one we originally booked and weren't even notified. They have a Delta app, but it doesn't even work right. Unless you physically go to the gate to check to see if the flight is on time, that is the only was to find out if you are re-booked onto a different flight or not. I have never flown an airline that re-books you on a different flight when they feel like it. I wouldn't recommend Delta Airlines to my worse enemy!"

Cons: "I showed up 2 hrs before the flight. Was told the flight from Toronto to Minn was delayed 30 minutes and go stand in line to speak to an agent. There were approx 20 in line yet only 2 gate agents at 4:30pm. One of the gate agents kept helping the Premium members and bypassing the standard line. The other agent was in a coma as his average person at counter was 10 min. Finally get to counter and they hand me a boarding pass going via Salt Lake in 30 minutes. But has a 3 hrs layover in SL. I then get to US Custom check for US residents re-entering and the line was a good 30 minute wait. You would think the Delta folks would have accounted for that line. I had to ask everyone in front of them if I could skip in front as the plane was now departing in 10 min. I had to then run on a bum knee and was the last to board. The agent at gate was saying we were calling your name but did they think I could have been stuck in customs? On that short of a window they should have walked me through Customs to make sure I got on a flight they wanted me to take versus my scheduled flight."

Cons: "I can appreciate the stress on everybody's mind but this was the worst time i had flying. Short story, 10am thursday-7pm friday. Less short story, 4 airlines, 3 security screenings and 2 customs stop points.7 delays, 2 cancels and 1 miss. It was a ping pong nightmare and 2 times it was suggested i take a bus...after i spent the money on a plane ticket with no offer of compensation, food vouchers or hotel accommodation. Delta has to convince me to come back to them."

The flight attendants were nice but I was in a seat near the engine and it was making really weird noises. I fly almost every two weeks, so I'm used to engine noises but this was one of the loudest/most rickety sounding flights I have ever been on.. and I have flown Spirit a few times. It just didn't feel safe. Landing scared me a little too as I have landed in O'Hare countless times and have never flown so low to the highway upon entry. It felt like we were only a couple hundred feet above the cars."

Ground crew airport check in at the Delta counter and at the Boarding gate was helpful and efficient. However request for Special Assistance in Toronto was poorly handled. We did not accept the conditions offered to us as one wheel chair operator had to push 3 passengers and I had to wait for him to return to me after two people were brought to their gates. My Husband had to wheel me in to my gate."

Many people went home or were standing in line waiting to rebook when the flight left. We just barely made it on because we overheard staff talking to another couple!! Not acceptable. They should have made announcements over the speakers and should have called passengers by name to come to check in. Porter had flooding problems that meant many people crowding into small space and it prevented passengers from food or drinks. They eventually handed out water. They should have provided vouchers or brought in other food and beverages."

This makes no sense as I had to buy my own ticket home from another airline and I didn't get to pay a "pro-rated" fare because I was halfway home. They also put us up in an extremely sketchy hotel that was unsafe, unclean and had an active prostitution ring going on."

Cons: "I fly weekly for work, but last week I got to fly to Toronto for pleasure to see my fiancé. In all of my years of traveling, I have missed a flight maybe 5 times due to traffic, weather, or other uncontrollable factors. It happened to be that on my way to Chicago Midway, there was an accident on the road that stopped traffic dead for 40 minutes. When I arrived at the airport, I begged for people to help me out by letting me cut security lines so that I wouldn't be late, but alas...others were also rushed and the TSA agents weren't too helpful. I arrived at the gate for my flight about 3 minutes late in defeat. Oh well - it happens! What was really unpleasant was that nobody would help me out. I was charged $150 to "change" my flight instead of just getting rebooked on the next one the way any other airline would happily do. And to top it all off, I was given the runaround with 3 different Porter employees diffusing responsibility. I will be moving to Toronto after the wedding but will still work out of Chicago - which means that I could provide business to Porter Airlines for the next few decades! Because of this poor service, you have lost my business. I would rather fly with another airline where customer service is a priority. Losing years of a customer's weekly business over a $150 fee seems to me to be a rather poor business model and I am sorry that the bureaucratic rules in this case could not be bent."

Cons: "This time my flight was cancelled. For no particular reasons (not due to weather). That was the only flight that was cancelled of the whole day. All other were flying. They did not say why. My guess is not enough passenger on the flight to make it worth it to fly for them. They rebooked me 24 hours later. I called customer service to ask for support and I received no support at all. I explained I was having a high risk pregnancy and was out of medication and needed to be at my DR appointment I had the next morning in Chicago. They said that there's nothing they can do. They also said additionally we also want to mention that we do not support for accomadation cost. I did not even ask but it's like they wanted to highlight that no support is given. I asked to speak to a supervisor. Told him I would like support to rebook a non Porter flight to get on time to Chicago. Again he said I am sorry we don't do that. I mentioned I was shocked that they don't even care that I was saying it was a medical reason and I asked for his name saying I will hold Porter responsible if any difficulty would happen because of this. At that point they searched for a solution. He said ok you can be on a flight but you need to board in 30 minutes. Impossible for me to do where I was but this should have been proposed to me earlier so I could have made it. And I would have done it. Second solution he gave me was to be in Ottawa boarding in 1 hour. Again impossible I was in Montreal with no car. He said you cannot hold me responsible if anything happen with your pregnancy I offered you solutions. Thank you Porter all impossible to do at the time you offered them. If you offered them all to me on time that would have maybe be possible. Anyway they made me miss 2 days of work + my doctor appointment I had to go without medication for a few days + paid for a extra hotel room. Next time I am taking air canada delta or United . I will pay more but at least I will have the guarantee to be taken in charge by their customer service if delays or cancellations happen."

No one informed us why we were moving to another terminal or that our flight had actually been cancelled and we would be staying another night in Mexico for another two hours. Getting our hotel voucher and transportation to the venue took another several hours. (Sorry Westin, but you also receive poor marks on your food services. Your front desk people were great though!) The following morning we were not informed that there would be no food service on the flight, so my kids were starving by the time we touched down in Vancouver. The ordeal was exhausting and when we finally arrived in Vancouver we almost missed our connecting flight because of a huge error in off-loading our luggage. It shouldn’t take over an hour to receive your luggage. Again, the communications break down led to hightened anxiety and stress. The whole horrible journey home with WestJet made the loveliness of my actual holiday pale into the background. I was very disappointed in WestJet as I’ve had fabulous experiences in the past. If possible, I will avoid flying with them again any time soon."
Cons: "First leg of flight was cancelled. Plane didn't come in at midnight as scheduled, so was not available for departure at 6:20 AM. WestJet did not inform anyone - including Kayak. Apps westjet & kayak said departure was on time, but there was no plane."

The gate agent at Delta (first leg) had a hell of a time sorting it out despite a long call to the WJ help desk."

I suggest AM get another airline's baggage handler to recheck bags for early arriving customers so at least they can wait inside security where amenities abound."

Not airlines fault and likely result of holiday backlog Retrieving baggage from plane was biggest issue - use a carry on to but was required to valet bag as opposed to storing overhead. Baggage unloading was late (again, holiday backlog) but no personnel were available to inform passengers of delay, and bags were not in initial cart. Resulted a delay of offloading by roughly 20 minutes. Was ultimately found in the second wave of luggage, and witnessed baggage handlers tossing luggage carelessly onto cart floor. Nothing was damaged but was annoyed at lack of communication and overall disorganization."

Since I knew before leaving YYZ we were quite delayed my husband drove to ORD to pick me up instead of waiting 24hr for the next flight to St. Louis. It added 8 hours of driving for him to an already long day but we made the best of it."

Secondly, the food was much improved...definitely better quality and tastier than typical airline food. And thirdly, better service from flight attendants who actually smiled. Keep up the good work. This represents a real step change."

Having heard so many similar nightmare stories about American Air I can say I will never ever fly American Air again. We now have to spend our firrst few days home from vacation disputing that charge, writing letters and making calls to get that damn refund. I will be sharing my discontent far and wide. Whoever at corporate thinks it's best practice to sell and sell and sell seats and live with the aggravation of the customers has an upside down notion of how to run a successful business. NIGHTMARE."

Pros: "The gentlemen from the wheelchair service who was there to pick us up when we arrived in Heathrow went above and beyond his duties. Instead of passing us over to another wheelchair attendant as we needed to switch terminals, he stayed with us thru the terminal change until we were on the airplane. We needed to get our boarding passes at Heathrow from a different airline and he helped us with this. Kudos to him!! The attendants on this flight were very helpful when my husband was having a diabetic reaction and I was vomiting form air motion sickness. We were a mess!! However the flight attendants were sure we had a wheelchair in Chicago and helped us with our bags as we were exiting the plane. Nice Job"
