Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "There was one crew member was passive aggresive and doing his best to annoy the whole trip, I had to get other crew involved, he was hitting on my friend as well....."
Cons: "This was a United flight sold as Air Canada to me and Lufthansa to my friend. This made check in twice as long since we went to the wrong counters. The quality was horrendous for an international flight and the entertainment system was broken. I paid atleast 50% more than I should have. Never fly UA"
Pros: "The ✈️ and timing"
Cons: "Amounts of food is ridiculously little for someone who gets hungry fast"
Cons: "Main meal was the worst I have had in over 10 years on a plane. I got the pasta. There were no vegetables or color other than yellow/orange in the dish. The side was a potato salad, which is also not very nutritious. Then you get a brownie and a roll. The breakfast/snack was also a pumpkin slice of bread. The overall food options were not very diverse in terms of the food groups. I thought plane food had improved in the last decade or so, but not on this flight."
Pros: "I think the pilots are great, very stable take off and landing."
Cons: "Foods not good"
Pros: "Many airlines have code share flights but it is better to buy ticket directly from the original airline as they keep on ignoring the code share flight bookings"
Cons: "Till last moment we were kept hanging if we will board or not as no seat number was allocated. I believe it was as we were from the code share airline not the real one"
Pros: "Tv screens and in flight entertainment"
Cons: "I paid 450 Euro for a return 2 hour flight & I didn't get a 20kg allowance. I don't expect a check in bag on a US or European budget airline but this is the national carrier. It's the first time I've paid for a checked bag in all my years flying with different national carriers. I.e. Qantas, Air New Zealand, Singapore to name a few. All in all. Air Canada charging like a national carrier but the baggage allowance policy of a budget airline. Not good enough in my opinion."
Pros: "I like the courteous crew members, very cordial & attentive."
Cons: "The long wait on the aircraft after all passengers and crew were on board waiting for the oxygen tank to arrive."
Cons: "I thought I was getting a good deal compared to other airlines but was shocked later to learn I had to pay extra to reserve a seat. When this was added it actually cost more. No entertainment for an 8 hour international flight! Really? Only one checked bag for an international flight. I’ve experienced much better on other airlines."
Pros: "Crew we're very accommodating and friendly."
Cons: "Seats extremely narrow and back support non-existent."
Pros: "Crew was excellent"
Cons: "Entertainment system did not work for the first two hours"
Pros: "That we arrived in Toronto and got to get off the plane."
Cons: "The flight was delayed several hours. The rows are way too close together to be remotely comfortable, and the seats themselves are tiny and barely recline. Being 5 months pregnant, I was uncomfortable the entire flight. The "entertainment" that you have to download an app for didn't work, and particularly stung knowing how much we paid for the flights, and that other airlines simply put a TV on the back of each seat that is easy to connect headphones and view. The food on our previous flight had been so terrible we didn't bother on this trip, but it looked equally awful. My husband was in the aisle seat and the flight attendant repeatedly and without warning hit him with the cart. The flight attendants varied in level of friendliness, but the ones in our row rushed through service, and did not give us the options the other row had (ice in drinks, veggie or meat options). All in all, it was kind of a terrible flight experience."
Pros: "Great fare. Prompt and friendly customer service on the phone."
Cons: "My flight was cancelled and rebooked for the following day with the same itinerary, which would have defeated the purpose of going on my trip (a wedding). I called and Air Canada put me on a same day flight on Delta. That flip was delayed, and I would have missed my connection. Finally, I was rebooked again, but didn't get in until several hours later than I would have gotten in."
Cons: "One of the crew members seemed a bit out of sorts, didn't smile much and was curt with another passenger when she was asked to take his garbage."
Pros: "Excellent staff and crew"
Cons: "I did not fly to Montreal and I did not catch flight to Barcelona I am fling again tonight Toronto - Barcelona direct"
Cons: "The leg room under the seats is impeded by the seat support structure. This is not such a problem on other planes."
Pros: "Access to their entertainment (movie, tv) channels was appreciated. I did not have this option on my departing flight which was the same duration."
Cons: "The plane cabin was surprisingly hot when we boarded and for most of the flight, though it did become bearable. Had to struggle to take my jacket off when seated (as did others)."
Pros: "I liked the fact that my online check in was super easy"
Cons: "More friendly crew"
Pros: "My overall flight was smooth, the crew was friendly."
Cons: "All of my Air Canada flights were delayed, it was a real inconvenience."
Pros: "The flight attendants were personable and nice"
Cons: "We were towards the back of the plane and they ran out of many food selections"
Pros: "always has extra seats available."
Cons: "A lot of families with kids, dirty lavatory due to low passenger profile. Rude flight attendant while having seated before take off. Dirty Boarding area. Poor food quality."
Pros: "short trip"
Cons: "delayed but didn't update the screen as delayed even though it was delayed an hour it still said on time."
Cons: "One of luggages didn't show up."
Cons: "It was cancelled."
Cons: "Every air Canada flight I had on this trip had horrible turbulence and rough landings. The turbulence may or may not be the pilot's fault, but the landings are probably the pilot's fault."
Pros: "Flight attendant's were friendly amid the circumstances."
Cons: "Our first flight was cancelled 15 minutes before scheduled take-off. upon being bumped to another flight two hours later, that flight was delayed two hours after an issue during take-off. We remained on the plane while mechanic/engineering staff rectified the problem. We booked a flight to save time on driving. We would have arrived earlier had we drove. I understand things happen, but the airline eneds to take responsibility and show some good customer service. Aside from the pilot, no apology given, no reimbursement offered. Disappinting. Air Canada is now a last-resort option for a frequent flyer like myself."
Pros: "The staff were apologetic and understanding. Everyone felt bad for the staff because they had nothing to do with the nightmare."
Cons: "Not only that I missed my connecting flight, when I was actually able to board 24 hours later the boarding experience was a complete nightmare with long lines and completely disorganized boarding system. I am curious to see whether I will get compensated for the missed hotel accommodations in Amsterdam. Keeping my fingers crossed. All to say, my last trip with Air Canada."
Cons: "The flight was delayed 3 hours."
Pros: "Food was really good and they passed drinks a few times as well as walking through with water. Staff was friendly"
Cons: "They over sold the flight. Customer service was awful and the gate attendant was untrained. We were unable to board the plane."
Pros: "none"
Cons: "bad service and didnot tell customer some critical information"
Cons: "There was no entertainment system. The boarding was extremely slow and delayed due to the amount of carry on luggage. Ultra slim uncomfortable seats for a 9 hour flight."
Pros: "NIL"
Cons: "40 min flight delayed for 1 and a half hours. Missed connecting flight. Staff was extremely rude to the hordes of people inquiring about missing their connecting flight, and were given different instructions."
Cons: "Only in Canada they make you remove headset for takeoff and landing."
Pros: "These were the reason I booked this flight"
Cons: "Temperature in cabin, I froze, thank god I planned ahead"
Pros: "The flight was smooth and on time. The cabin was very comfortable to fly in although the headrests were unnecessary since a small pillow was provided. Thank you for the pillow and blanket - that made the night flight much more comfortable. The crew were all professional and friendly. I appreciated how quickly we boarded and exited the plane. The staff made this very quick and efficient."
Cons: "Every time the male attendant walked by he brushed his hand along the overhead luggage compartment. This woke me up from my sleep over a dozen times. It was fine once or twice but became very annoying. The zones at the gate were very crowded and too close together. They were also right beside the food vendors and made it nearly impossible for other people in the terminal to easily walk by. The seating area was overcrowded and had more seating with computer hookups than without. It was also not kept tidy. Compared to other airports this was by far the most disorganized and least clean."
Pros: "Everything was okay to good, industry standard these days flying from Northern America."
Cons: "Banana bread for breakfast?"
Cons: "No good movies or music"
Pros: "The crew was very nice and helpful. The in flight movies are good."
Cons: "Boarding was a little hectic and unorganized. And although my luggage made it to my second flight, my friends luggage was left in Toronto. Now we are in Amsterdam and she has no clothes. My head phone jack was also broken and could barely be used."
Pros: "Billy Bishop airport is awesome!"
Cons: "Flight was delayed and crew didn't accommodate a rebooking despite availability .. Although original flight did board soon after."
Pros: "The crew was excellent, and the flight procedures were very efficient."
Cons: "I have no criticisms to offer."
Cons: "When I checked in at Ottawa they gave me a ticket for the Toronto to Orlando flight but there was no seat #. They said get it when you are at the gate. They knew all along there would be no seat # ever as they had overbooked by 12 passengers but didn't have the decency to tell me or apologize and explain. I was in line-ups for the 3 1/2 hrs I was in Toronto trying to get a seat and not knowing till the very last minute that I had one. The very back row next to the toilet. I will never recommend to fly Air Canada."
Cons: "The person next to us was too heavy to fit in her seat, so she flowed over into my husbands, making the whole trip uncomfortable. In addition she had a smell. Not sure what can be done about it, but it made a long trip really uncomfortable. Service and food was also much better on the South African airlines portion of the trip."
Pros: "The crew were very nice and helpful."
Cons: "Didn't know I needed an app downloaded to my phone prior to boarding - so I had to rent an iPad to have some entertainment."
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "first flight cancelled, second flight delayed so impossible to get the connection. Nobody called me about it, I had to go to ask."
Pros: "Love Air Canada"
Pros: "Very smooth flight crew attendants very nice"
Cons: "There is no TV to watch movied"
Pros: "Flight attendants were great, very nice, professional, accommodating. I woke up in the middle of the night and they politely gave me a glass of water, good food and drink service. I was so tired, I chose not to eat the dinner, so I can't speak to that, but the breakfast was juice, coffee and a slice of banana bread which was very good. Pilot was great, easy flight, easy landing. No complaints!"
