The employee was wonderful. The car was clean and new, but we booked a midsize SUV and got a ‘Kicks’ that was uncomfortable and so small my husband and my elbows were bumping each other over the center console . My real issue is the up charging. I paid ahead of time online to save some money, and when we arrived, they tacked on $400+ of extra fees for tolls, another driver, etc. It honestly felt like a huge scam.Reviewed 15 Mar 2026

Terrible experience. Would NEVER use them again. It took an hour in a very short line to get to even speak to someone at the desk. They were screwing around with us asking for auto insurance (which I don’t have and have never been asked for when renting a car, and my credit card covers rentals). They said my credit card coverage wasn’t enough. I’ve rented cars plenty of times and have never been forced into buying MORE auto insurance coverage. When my partner asked to switch the reservation into her name because she did have auto insurance, they told us that we could not do that. They also said we could not make a new reservation with them at the desk which was completely false as they advertised available cars to anyone who wanted to walk up and make a reservation. They took their sweet time despite being told we had a rush to the hospital for a family emergency. Completely lacking empathy and any sort of morals. I would never rent from them again. Price was great, service another matter. Not enough people at the desk and wait were long. Got held up when they asked for certificate of insurance and I was never asked for this before. They also overcharged me for Tolls and when I brough the car back they didn't care that I had no radio/media all week as the volume was broken and the car needed oil and warning light came on.Reviewed 4 Feb 2026

Ace had competitive prices for our 12 day trip. However I was perturbed that although we reserved a large SUV, when we arrived at the airport counter we learned the company had given away our car and canceled our reservation. It was late at night and we had been traveling for 10 hrs. The agent was unapologetic. He stated that we would have to rebook with walk up pricing. They didn’t have any large SUVs and the smaller ones he offered wouldn’t fit our family and luggage, so we ended up with a minivan for double the price of our original booking. The minivan had uncomfortable racing seats and my husband elected to sit in the back. The car beeped way too often and unnecessarily, when parking or changing lanes; its sensitivity was way too high. They wouldn’t honour my reservation unless I bought their insurance which was more than the rental cost even though I was fully covered by both my travel credit card and my personal car insurance. If I say No EXTRA insurance that’s what it means. I was quoted $145 for the rental. When I checked out the charge was $267. Something about some extra insurance that’s you’re forced to take even if you have full coverage. They were definitely not clear on this. I would’ve said no immediately. It’s bait and switch all day. When I booked the car through Kayak, it was quoted as $7/day for 5 days, and with extra charged came out to $72, which I thought was reasonable so I booked. Turns out at the desk, after you’ve checked out, they hand me a folded invoice with a surprise additional charge of $91. When I questioned this they said it is a mandatory liability insurance charge. I was furious this was not included anywhere in the quote when booking the car. That charge is triple the actual cost of the daily rental. Why would ACE/Kayak not include that insurance charge, that makes up the bulk of charges, in the booking process when they include all the other mandatory fees? This is deceitful and predatory, and I was forced to pay more than double the price Kayak quoted. I’ve reached out to ACE and of course they haven’t offered any apologies or refunds. Apart from all that, the car wasn’t great. It was old with over 40k miles, no extra features, ands the seats were all stained.Reviewed 21 May 2025
