Top tips for finding cheap flights to Canada

  • Morning departure is around 16% cheaper than an evening flight, on average*.
  • You can travel to Canada directly from several London airports, so make sure to check which is the most convenient one for you before booking. For example, you can fly to Calgary Airport (YYC) from both London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and London Gatwick Airport (LGW). If you are based to the west of London, Heathrow might be a better choice for you, whereas Gatwick might be more convenient if your point of origin is south of the city.
  • If you are flying to Canada during the winter months to go skiing, you should fly to Calgary Airport. It is located only about 1h 30min by car from Banff National Park, which is famous for its slopes.
  • As a UK citizen, you do not need a visa to travel to Canada, as you’ll be permitted tourist entry upon arrival. You must apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation before you travel, though, and you must hold a passport that is valid for the duration of your stay.
  • If you decide to hire a car at the airport, it’s essential to be aware of the country’s road safety laws, especially if you have children in the car. Seat belts must be worn at all times in front and back seats, and children must travel in a suitable child seat.
  • For added convenience, you can use Heathrow’s Reserve and Collect online service to pre-order any duty-free items before you arrive at the airport. You can collect your purchases once you get to the terminal.

From what I saw there was no entertainment. Similar to my flight to London, I personally would like the attendants to be more interactive during the flight.

From what I saw there was no entertainment. Similar to my flight to London, I personally would like the attendants to be more interactive during the flight.

Air Transat left my luggage back in Montreal and it took them 5 DAYS to get it to Venice. Luckily I was still in town, or else their option was to send my luggage back to my house in CANADA. What a joke! Oh, and I had to find a way to go get it at the airport in Venice, they needed 72 hours more to get it to where I was staying.

I was pleasantly surprised. I booked the "club class" which was basically like Domestic First Class. The service was superior. Food was pretty good. Seats and cabin were comfortable. For the price I paid, I was very pleased.

Super unproffesional flight . Flight attendants were unproffesional. I could hear them gossiping about theor boyfriends the whole trip

The connecting flight lay over was 4.00 hours, the gate agent booked me on the next flight which was about to depart at no extra cost.

The ticket price was reasonable, food was okay, not the best. I would use the service again.

Actually the flight was on time. New plane, food was okay but not great.

Old plane, hard seats, 1.30 hours delay, while seating on the plane waiting for departure.

Great boarding. Everything was on time. Plane was a bit old and the crew could have provided better drink service.

Boarding was a little chaotic but it was a very large flight. It just wasn’t fast. And there was no noticeable difference between zones boarding.

Flying is no fun anymore. Too little space. Too much carry on baggage slowing down everything.

Terrible. Passengers were loud and stewardess did nothing about it. They didn't show us the safety precautions like how they were suppose to, in the beginning before taking off.

WestJet's food was terrible. Had no control over there passengers. Passengers were loud and they did nothing about it.

Flight was delayed which caused us to miss our connection.

Fine except for a delay that resulted in our missing the final leg of our flight.

Our seats that I had paid extra for near the front of the aircraft were no longer available on this replacement aircraft. We were told we either had to accept the new replacement seats in row 27 near the back in seats E and B, no longer together, or sit in the very back in row 30 squeezed into E and F seats that do not recline or have trays that provide a flat platform for a refreshment. This is not what I had expected. However, again your flight crew did the best they could given the circumstances.

Our flight was delayed 3.5 hours. Maybe next time make sure its on time as stated. The crew did the best they could, given the circumstances.

Flight was on time… crew normal experience… captain was informative. Boarding at the gate had a bit chaotic ,but overall, it was an enjoyable full flight and I thank you as it was my first time flying Westjet and I will do it again. Regards

It was fine but no entertainment and only pretzels as snack

Generally poor experience with excessive luggage fees. Plane seats were very uncomfortable. Flight did not take off on time, however arrived on time. Boarding seems very inefficient.

The Barbados Toronto experience was okay but had too many delays from Toronto to Ottawa.

Most crew members were great but there was one each of flights that were kinda rude. Other than than everything was great.

My suitcase never arrived! Still waiting in Athens for it!

Comfort seats in economy class. Crew was pleasant. Very surprised we had to pay for ear buds and food. I requested 2 hummus packs and was given 2 bags of almonds, very overpriced.

First time flying with Air Canada and very impressed! We will definitely book with them for future trips.

I was at Chicago early and I should have been able to check in when I got there instead of having to wait 8 hours later to check in. I don’t like air Canada

Number of gate changes involving walking the whole length of the airport was frustrating.

Flight attendants should learn something about customer service. About how to deal with people Very disappointed This only happens only in Air Canada

I was unaware I was booking the basic economy flight and had to spend an extra $125 for baggage plus $100 for seat selection. There was also no opportunity to upgrade into a different ticket type. The seats were very cramped and mine wouldn’t stay reclined

Poor ! Couldn’t cancel months ahead because no credit or refund was permitted !! But they still kept contacting us about check in for all flights in spite of our canceling this trip months ago . So disappointed on all fronts with this airline!!

full flight, could use more room....leg room fine seats tight

Other than problems with checking in and uploading passport info everything was great. It would be nice to be able to manually input passport info. Often while traveling the bandwidth has problems uploading pictures

Give at least coffee or juice as it is an international flight.

Tiny, cramped seats with minimum leg room and hard armrests. Basic needs like a seat and luggage came with an additional charge. Budget airline amenities with premium airlune cost. I won't use this airline again.

Cancelled flight, that morning! But got us on an Air Canada flight!

Boarding process non existent. No WiFi. No entertainment. Cramped old plane. Worst Kosher meal ever presented on a flight.

Loved the food (vegetarian in our case). Super pleasant. We're in our 60s/70s and not speedy anymore but I never felt rushed. Entertainment choices very current, personalized, and fun. Asked to change seats with a man who had paid for his seats as well but something had occurred in process so he was two rows away from his small daughter. Staff was very efficient at mediating the exchange and gave us a beautiful little travel pack as a gift to agree to it. The seats were comfortable but reclined a bit much for my comfort. I'm glad I'm not claustrophobic as the person in front of me reclined to the max and I felt very enclosed. Very efficient crew simultaneously as super pleasant.

Boarding was a zoo. London ground crew was useless. Poor communication regarding where to line up. We were group 2, and everyone was jammed in together. Ground crew didn’t seem to care.

boarding needs to be streamlined load the back of the plane first

Horrible flight attendant in back of economy that screamed at me, have already reported to United. Horrible food - for Gluten free, why would you assume the person is vegetarian? I was served some kind of horrible curry bean paste and multiple cold rolls and soggy vegetables with no seasoning... um no!

We have a lot to say when BA cancelled our flight the last minute and put us on Air France’s already overbooked flight; and took no responsibility to ensure we are safe and met our travels. It’s day 2 and we have not reached our final destination yet. BA took no responsibility, but were happy to keep the money! If it were not for third party ground staff at Dallas BA we would have not gotten to India. BA has a lot to answer!

Very good flight. Delayed but no due to any fault of the airline. Food service is half a sandwich and crackers with a chocolate pot for a 5 hour flight so eat before boarding.

The lack of leg room for a 6 foot person makes for an extremely uncomfortable flight over the pond. Short little puddle jumper from Paris to London and back no big deal, but nine hours in a tiny and unbelievably hard seat makes me not want to do that ever again. This is my third trip to Normandy. FYI.

It was fine, seats were entirely too small. I’m not a huge man, and my hips barely fit in the seat.

In London, everyone was very helpful to make sure all passengers find the next aircraft, as everybody missed their connection due to the late departure in Miami. My mom‘s airplane left two hours after her arrival to London however, for my nephew they only had room on the next flight seven hours later. In the last minute they contacted him and was able to put him on the same flight as my mom./ which we were very thankful for Therefore, all his luggage was on the other aircraft and have not reached Budapest yet.

The design of business class is absolutely horrible. The flight attendants have to cross in front of passengers to pass the food. Passengers have to crawl over other passengers to get to the bathroom or to get to their bag. It’s shocking!! The flight attendants however were superb!

Quick boarding process, slight delays on the tarmac prior to takeoff and a late arrival due to an emergency on the landing runway. Not the fault of the airline at all! Cabin crew was very friendly and the Captain kept the passengers well informed about what was going on

Seats did not recline. That is none of the seats on the plane are designed to recline. If you want food you need to purchase it. We flew round trip Warsaw to London- both flights were late.

The port to insert the headphones was loose and had to hold it the entire time

Every host and pilot were very professional. My next flight would be upgraded from economy to the next group.
