Seats rows were narrow with just enough leg room. Very confining and uncomfortable. Our row did not recline as we were in front of the exit row. Luckily, the person in front of me did not recline their seat back.

I don't fully understand why, but I was unable to get my boarding pass for my flight to Chicago from Toronto until I arrived in the Toronto airport. Toronto airport sequesters off international arrivals, so in an ideal world, I would have been able to go through security directly to into the U.S. terminal, bypassing Canada customs. However, the United desk that I needed to get my boarding pass from located just before security was unmanned. The very kind Air Canada attendant called for a representative multiple times, but after 45 minutes of waiting no one ever arrived to print my boarding pass for me. The Air Canada employee then gave up on any United staff showing up and suggested I try going through Canadian customs and checking in at the same departure desk travelers first entering the airport would go through and make sure to let them know how long I was waiting. The United employee I spoke with told me that I was impatient and should have continued waiting because now she didn't know what would happen with my checked bag and that I may well need to wait 2 hours more for that to get sorted out. I was rather surprised by her overly negative response and apparent threat. If I was irate or yelling that might have been warranted, but frankly, I was so tired from the international travel I didn't have the energy to fight with her. Regardless, I wish I had been more impatient, it was far easier to go through customs twice than I expected. I would have preferred to spend more time in the lounge inside the terminal than to stand by the United desk waiting for someone to arrive to print my boarding pass. At any rate, Canadian+US customs have it together; when I went through U.S. customs to get into the terminal they had the photo of my checked bag right there.

I liked having the built in screen on the a321. Americans streaming service has lots to offer but the built in screens have more choices. I get why they want to just offer the streaming but I appreciate all the choices! There was a group number enforcer at the gate to make boarding more organized! She was polite but told the mobs that try to use the premium line to wait their turn.

I asked for upgrades to and from Chicago. I’m a gold member and fly for leisure fairly often. There are so many people looking for an upgrade these days that you’re rarely getting the opportunity

The crew at the airport and on the plane were excellent. We were on a family holiday with young ones and the crew really took care of our needs. They were extremely courteous and attentive.

The crew was lovely. Really nice, and did a wonderful job with the cart service.

We ended up being deleyed about 30 minutes, in damp weather. It's not like it was snowing. Not sure why it took so long. B/c of baggage charges now everyone brings a carry on. This seems to slow the process of boarding as know passengers are asked multiple times to check baggage (for free, which is the one nice thing) before boarding b/c the overheads will be too full. Group 6 which I was in seemed like it was just the rest of the plane. Super busy, took me forever to get to my seat all the way in the back. Why don't airlines reverse board? People sitting in the back should board first. I feel like this would save so much time.

The only person who who tried to relax customers waiting to board was the pilot. Flight was delayed. No updates on monitors, no crew at desk. The pilot was first to arrive and had no information but was engaging and joked with all the passengers just standing around. He was our only assurance that flight was still going. He had same attitude on the plane and seemed determined to get us home eventually.

No communication from airline. The flight was delayed but we only find out because we show up to gate and nobody is there. No counter agents. When they eventually show up, there is no explanation. Just acted like everything was normal.

Premium economy is the way to go for a long haul flight. We were comfortable and able to get some sleep.

The crew on the way to Sydney was a little more present. There was always someone milling in the galley between the business class and premium economy cabin. The crew returning came through the cabin often and were attentive if you asked for them but you had to seek them out.

The screens on the back of seats that used to play movies now play advertisements and ask you to pay for in-flight entertainment. The off button did not turn the screen off, resulting in a constant eyesore for the entire trip

My complaint with United is twofold: extremely poor customer service and airport experience. First, the plane was delayed Then cancelled took customer service 50 minuets to rebooked on a new flight to sfo instead Sjc which is far away from my house & I paid for CAB!!

I enjoyed the crew, the food and the entertainment. The crew did give us peanuts for our extra 5 hours on the plane.

We were 3 hours late for departure and took 2 extra hours in the air because of re-routing. The seats were abnormally stiff and went back so little that it was extremely hard to fall asleep during the 18 hours we were on board. The crew was unwillng to let us bring our instruments on board and thus, they cracked from the air pressure during the flight.
