Cons: "The JAL website specified most trans-atlantic flights with the newer and more spacious seating in Premium Economy. Departing from San Diego, this was only an option once a year I was told at the check in counter. I was counting on extra width and legroom as I am 270 lbs and 73" tall. I was disappointed that these up-gradable seats were not available. I also did not like that we sat on the Oksaka tarmac at a divert airport from Narita (Tokyo) and were not given an option to leave the plane and find alternate transportation of our choice to get us to our destination. I understand the high winds and bad weather was not allowing us to land on time, but we sat on the tarmac for 2 1/2 hours and then left to fly into Narita 5 hours late."

This meant that after clearing this security process at the gate, bathrooms were not available until after boarding the flight and drinking water stations were not easily found in the secure boarding area. The aircraft was comfortable, menus were distributed early so that meal options could be made with full information in advance. The food was good and made available at routine intervals."

A part of the interior wall fell off onto my foot upon take off and I had to hold it in place for a while until a hostess came....doesn’t give you the best feeling when the plane starts breaking on take off. One of the male stewards was appalling towards a young mum I sat next too...too the extent of giving her dirty looks because she spilled a bit of water on the seat and then told her she had to pack everything away she was using, including the baby wipes! I stepped in and told him how this was not ok and all other staff members were helpful and he was making this Mum upset. He should not be working for such a people friendly reputable airline! Maybe Jetstar instead! Was appalled at the entire flight to be honest!"

Crew said, she will get back to me and I did not hear from her for another 10 mins, then there was repeat serve of drinks and I was asked if i needed any thing and asked the same drink, but then I was asked to wait. After I had finished off my meal and ready to go to sleep, someone was bringing my drink out and I then respectfully say no to it as it was bit late after the meal and asked for water instead and did not like the look on the face of the crew member. I saw it happening with other passengers as well and was under the impression, the whole crew performance was pretty poor and SIA was not up to its high-standards as I always like to fly with them. I will look for different option next time"

They wouldnt listen to my requests to change flights until it was too late. JFK airport put out a notice at 7:30PM stating that they woukd be closed until 7am the next morning. However, i recieved an email from EVA airlines AND Kayak around 9 PM stating that my flight was on time... the airport was closed!! Terrible organization... overall a really bad experience."

Pros: "Me & my wife were on Premium Economy. This was a connecting flight to Manila from Vancouver Canada. The food served was not visually appealing and very lacking in taste. The food can be improved for this sector. The food was a very far cry from EVA Air flight also on Premium Economy. Before this flight we took we took BR9 from Vancouver Canada. The Ground Agent at the boarding gate wanted us to check-in our carry-on baggage which was well within the measurements specified in the EVA Air website (23x36x56cm). My wife and I had only one carry-on each. The reason given the flight was full. I did not understand this since I could see there were lots of passengers who had carry-on baggage larger than the 23x36x56cm and more than one piece carry-on. Not sure why this female Ground Agent picked on us when there were lots more violations within her sight. Also, she was rude when we refused. Once inside the aircraft with all passengers boarded, there were lots of empty bins for carry-on baggage. The more I was not happy about this Ground Agent picking on our carry-on baggage. The more I did not understand why!"

I’d recommend EVA Air’s Premium Economy. The seats were wider and leg room was excellent. The amenities were great especially the entertainment part. TV Screen in front of the passenger (installed behind the seat in front) was very clear. it was the same as if watching movie on an iPad."

I had a wonderful experience and when I return home I will not hesitate to book with EVA again for any of my international flight needs."

Cons: "We were late arriving, the cabin crew although they were pleasant, didn’t do enough to allow the passengers to get off first, for the connecting flight. Malaysian airlines stayed in the runway, fixing an engine and the pilot said they were delaying the plane, driving in for passengers to disembark. After being told by cabin crew that a number of us were late for connecting flight, that they were going to wait for us, they didn’t and we were told we had missed the flight. We were kindly put on the next flight which wasn’t until five hours later. Unrealistic scheduling causes is to miss our flight and had us sitting at the airport for four hours, making it an unnecessarily long day. Not impressed."

Apparently we weren't entitled to any. We were not treated the same as the others next to us. It was not an option. Perhaps only Australians were entitled."

The air New Zealand part was all great plane boarding etc, the horrible part is that we bought baggage allowances with virgin and they never transferred the information to air New Zealand. So there I am from the USA in a foreign country boarding a flight being asked to pay 500 nz dollars for a few kilos when I had already paid for it. Having to produce emails and payment information on something I had done months in advance. Overall I won’t recommend virgin next time I’d book directly with air New Zealand"

So I pressed the button again. IT showed that I had already pressed the button. So I kept waiting. But then no one ever came for me the 9 hours until it was time for the meal before getting off. Sitting straight sleeping was a really terrible experience!"

My touch screen monitor crashed and the controls that would enable me to alert crew members for any concerns also didn't work. Both issues happened twice. The second time, I informed them that if these technical issues continued to fail and couldn't be resolved, I needed to be placed in another seat, of which I specifically told them was not to be a seat far behind my current row seat. Instead, they went and offered me a seat that was 22 rows behind, especially after I had paid extra fees to sit in the seat I was given higher up the aisle. I also informed them that I wasn't feeling well and the closer I was to the exit when we landed, the better. They ignored these concerns. That is unacceptable considering that it was their system that was faulty in the first place that led to these problems. Their staff also failed to regularly walk the aisles to ensure customers were okay with the service. I've been on planes whereby the crew is constantly walking around to ensure everyone is being taken care of. For example, I had a great experience with Korean Air where I saw staff every 10-15mins checking on customers. Air New Zealand completely failed in this regard. When my system crashed the second time, because I couldn't call anyone in the crew using the controls on my touch screen, and the person sat next to me was asleep (didn't want to wake him up to use his device to call!), I waited 25-30mins before going up to the crew station to seek help. I had to wait an additional 10-15mins before I even saw someone at the crew station. There are some other issues I encountered but the above were the main ones. This is the first time I've actually had to criticize an airline for it's customer service. I've been travelling for over 25 years and never encountered what I did today. I certainly won't be flying with them again."

Once i found the right ticket counter to check in, i found that there was an extra baggage fee of NZ$130 that i had to pay to check my bag. Also, dinner seemed to be included for just about everyone sitting around me, and it was not included for me. I don't remember having the option of booking dinner with my flight. The agent at the Virgin Australia counter mentioned that this often happens when booking flights through the websites that are not the carrier's direct website. I have used others before, and not had these same issues... oh well - i guess that's what i get for booking through FlightNetwork.com. I'll probably go directly to airline websites in the future."

The passengers who go in earlier had put their bags flat and horizontal thus taking maximum room in the bins. The airhostes did nothing to control this or direct the bags. I repeatedly said that I could move the bags around to crate room. They took no heed. There were also a number of partially empty bins that had been closed early , and the air hostesses did nott allow me to look in to. Finallymy partner and I had to cross over to thebother side and place one of ou carry ons 19 rows in front of our assigned seats, and the other smaller bag in the seat on front of us. For a 6'3" man, this was very uncomfortable for 14 hrs. The rest of the flight was fine, but the boarding was extremely inefficient"

It took numerous phone calls, all of which were costly long distance, to get them to commit to getting our luggage to us"

Cons: "I am not a frequent flier on Cathay. I would say I would think twice before buying my next ticket. Their call centers and counter staff leave a huge amount to be desired. I called their help desk when I couldn't access my reservation. My problem is their systems push your first and middle names together as a first name in their systems so I couldn't access my reservation. I really, really struggled understanding the person on their help desk. Then 48 hours before my flight I tried to book my seats and get my boarding pass. There were no seats for a party of 3 traveling together and only middle seats for the 3 of us. I waited for 20 minutes calling their support center. Of course their team could not help. All seats were booked. Luckily she offered to book my seats for the return and we managed to get the last 3 together in the back of the plane. If you book through Kayak recommend immediately calling to book seat numbers. I have ran out of room but returning from Vancouver their systems didn't read American passports and everyone tried to get tickets issued the staff at the desk laughed when told and said they knew it was a problem....but it did keep the many skiers busy in the self service line:) Also the desk opens 2hours and 59 minutes before departure so don't arrive early"
