Pros: I told them I am severely asthmatic. When I walked into the room I immediately smelled musty old rug that was cleaned at least dozens of times and exhausted its useful life a long time ago. I went back to the front desk and told them needed a different room for medical reasons and willing to pay more. The front desk person and the day manager told me that they did not have availability without any serious they said no without any consideration and force me to sleep in this room where I ended up wheezing all night. They also lied to me that all the rooms were renovated at the same time and were the same. And it turns out that there were at least a few rooms available.

Pros: I chose this hotel because it was centrally located, easy to walk to from the train station, and a good price. It was exactly as advertised - no more, no less. If you are just looking for a place to lay your head at night while exploring Edinburgh, IBIS is a good choice. The staff were friendly and efficient, the room and bathroom was clean, and check-in/out was simple and direct. Overall I would stay here again.

I travel alot internationally and truthfully feel that this was one of the best hotel experiences I've had in my life. Being that I do travel alot, it means the world when you can sleep peacefully in extreme comfort. From arrival to departure the George was a wonderful experience. Pros: Hilton are our Hotel Group of choice. I just thought this one to be overly expensive probably only justifying itself because of its proximity to the Old Town and the Royal Mile. The bedroom and bathroom were small and the rest of the hotel just felt like an apartment building. There was no real old-world warmth.
As you would expect the staff were very friendly and helpful.My final gripe was that the parking was public and some distance away down a hill and some very steep steps.This,I concede however,is probably the case with most Edinburgh hotels.

Pros: Breakfast though daily changes were not appreciated and seem unnecessary. Room and bed were too small but we're large and knew this going in so fine for what we expected. Location is fantastic. Near everything. Breakfast was inexpensive and the good way to go if choosing whether or not at time of booking.

Funny British ways about electricity - you have to put a hotel key in to a special reader inside the room to turn on the electricity in the room. They really don't want you to leave the lights on when you're not there, I guess.
