Pros: The cosiness of the room was really nice yet it had all mod cons; also private access to our own walled garden! The shower was very nice indeed as was the bath. Both made all the better by the soap. On a further note, the tea and coffee making facilities were exceptional! :) and we very much approved of the fruit in the fridge.

Cons: No hotwater on evening or following morning,so had to have tepid shower and bath. Only glass wall between our room and hall so could be seen going between bedroom and bathroom from outside!!! cleaner arrived 2 hours before checkout to deliver equipment to clean room,visible through glass wall.

Cons: I didn't like that I had to pay inflated prices because the festival was on. Also I took I'll with a bug so didn't have as good as stay as planned. Nothing to do with the hotel I might add.

Cons: There was a cleaning problem at the hotel which meant unfortunately a terrible stench was very evident outside the gents toilet in the reception area, which you had to pass to get to the ladies. The hotel did apologise. Also, someone else was able to charge drinks at the bar to our room. We were given the bill on departure, but the member of staff on reception was quick to accept that it had not been us and tore up the bill. They had not obtained a signature for the bar bill. We had paid for all our extras - food and drinks - in cash at the time of purchase. Hotels must get signatures for all extras to avoid this sort of problem. Despite the comfort of the bedroom, the room was a little dark.

Cons: Pop music in the bar at breakfast time and when I said that I was leaving because of it, nobody offer to turn it down or off. I did not eat breakfast and therefore did not spend 10 pounds in the hotel.

I travel alot internationally and truthfully feel that this was one of the best hotel experiences I've had in my life. Being that I do travel alot, it means the world when you can sleep peacefully in extreme comfort. From arrival to departure the George was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend it and will return there when in Edinburgh. A gentleman named " Willy" was a gem, very helpful. Thank You.

Cons: The reception area is still going through refurbishment which meant long queues soon began to build up when guests began arriving in numbers which was an inconvenience to be honest. No doubt this will be resolved when the work is completed.

The heating came on at 6am and was very noisy. This woke my partner and I up and we couldn't get back to sleep with the noise.
The tea/coffee machine in the room did not work.
Left my straighteners behind in the room but when I contacted the hotel to enquire about this they said they checked and they were not there. That is a mystery to me.

Cons: When we arrived I was not expecting to have £100 per night deducted from my bank account, especially since we had already paid for it in full. Fine if you have a credit card as you dont notice the money leaving your a/c (its refunded when you check out) but if you dont have a credit card (I dont) then they ask for a debit card which means that you are money short in your account. If this had been mentioned prior to booking then maybe I would have reconsidered staying there. Its ok if they had just taken the card details but to acutally take the money was unexpected and quite unfair to say that we had already paid for the room etc. There was no warning of this and it was lucky that I had plenty of funds in the account!

Cons: We have stayed here about five times before and have always had a twin room on the Scottish Parliament side of the hotel but this time we were in a double on the other side which we found darker and a little bit noisier. We are used to a bigger bed at home and because of the size of the duvet we needed to put the bedspread across the other way and tuck it in, otherwise there was a draught on our legs. I think possibly when we booked there was only the option of a double room rather than a twin.

Pros: Room was clean and well presented, service was excellent all easy and not a problem, perfect location short walk from everything you need including a 24 hour car park
Cons: Small things like the shower base wasn’t grippy and I nearly slipped and hurt myself, plus the room was really warm being in the basement but the skylight shut itself at night leaving the room very hot even with the heating off

Cons: I believe that because this is a Hilton, we didn't expect it to be in a location that is just a little seedy, and a bathtub with mold around the edges. The room's furnishings were like a motel at an airport. The charge for internet usage was the highest of any place we stayed in England or Scotland.
