Pros: The staff was incredible. I had two pillows and my mattress was comfortable. I loved that I could leave my luggage there until 9:00 pm AFTER I checked out and could use the facilities. I LOVED all of the lounges, the cinema, the kitchen, the music room, it was a little paradise. Who can say that about a hostel? I can. I chose Castle Rock. The dancing on Wednesday made the trip and the bar crawl was unforgettable. The hostel was also SO clean. Thank you to everyone at the hostel who made this trip so amazing.

Cons: However, there is no lift so you have to lug everything out or down the stairs. Uber will not pickup on that street, though. You’d have to walk 2 blocks in either direction for a pickup.

Pros: The location was good and easy to find. Staff was friendly and allowed me to store my luggage when I arrived early. The staff took a group out for Scottish dancing and it was fun to socialize.
Cons: I’m pretty positive my sheets were not changed before my arrival, I found multiple long black hairs in my bed (I have medium blonde hair). I didn’t say anything to the staff as I was only staying one night and didn’t want to bother with it. The bathrooms were quite dirty as well. The shower floors were dirty and the ceiling where the shower curtain hangs need to be deeply cleaned. Cheap cost but you get what you pay for.

Pros: I told them I am severely asthmatic. When I walked into the room I immediately smelled musty old rug that was cleaned at least dozens of times and exhausted its useful life a long time ago. I went back to the front desk and told them needed a different room for medical reasons and willing to pay more. The front desk person and the day manager told me that they did not have availability without any serious they said no without any consideration and force me to sleep in this room where I ended up wheezing all night. They also lied to me that all the rooms were renovated at the same time and were the same. And it turns out that there were at least a few rooms available.

Cons: We received a call from reception at 10.30 PM informing us that there was a complaint about noise. We were watching the Graham Norton show on the TV at what we thought was a reasonable sound level - the very facility I would have thought the TV was provided for. Of course in response we turned the volume down until we could barely hear the TV which spoiled our enjoyment of the programme and the remainder of the stay. It was disappointing that hotel staff didn't verify the complaint, but simply passed it on - not I think a sufficient level of service for the quality of hotel the Balmoral is. We take an annual trip as a treat from the stressful job of teaching - often in Edinburgh and have never been accused of this type of behaviour before and I think that we in future will revert to one of Edinburgh's other fine hotels as we want to reduce, not increase our stress.

Pros: From the minute I walked into the hotel I felt very welcomed. The staff were attentive and perfectly freindly and professional. I travel alot internationally and truthfully feel that this was one of the best hotel experiences I've had in my life. Being that I do travel alot, it means the world when you can sleep peacefully in extreme comfort. From arrival to departure the George was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend it and will return there when in Edinburgh. A gentleman named " Willy" was a gem, very helpful. Thank You.

Cons: There is such a huge variety of unusual rooms that is was frankly difficult to figure out what kind of room we were in and where we might like to move. We loved our first room--a King Firth of Forth view room--the size was great and the view was awesome, but it was not air conditioned and we had to keep the windows open. This would be fine if the glass recycling center for the whole neighborhood was not below our windows. Glass was dumped all night, every night. Not conducive to sleep. So we moved to a room with A/C, but it did not have WIFI. Then we moved again to a room with A/C and WIFI and it was very, very small. But that is where we stayed. The Inter-Continental recently bought this property and they have work ahead of them to make sure that all rooms have A/C and WIFI. The location is great and the staff is great!

For the value of money we paid I wouldn’t stay again, I though it was going more spacious that what it was. We had to wait till after 3 to check in which is fine as it stated you can’t check in till 3 but 3.20 came and we still had no phone call, when we asked at reception if our room was ready they handed over the key?

Pros: From the minute I walked into the hotel I felt very welcomed. The staff were attentive and perfectly freindly and professional. I travel alot internationally and truthfully feel that this was one of the best hotel experiences I've had in my life. Being that I do travel alot, it means the world when you can sleep peacefully in extreme comfort. From arrival to departure the George was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend it and will return there when in Edinburgh. A gentleman named " Willy" was a gem, very helpful. Thank You.

Cons: The facilities badly need to be upgraded. The building has nice bones but it is tattered and worn out. There was extensive mold growth in our bathroom window all up onto the ceiling. It looked like it had been painted over instead of remediated. The shower/tub drained very slowly and the water was lukewarm. The room did not feel clean and the carpets seemed dirty. Also the breakfast had lots to offer but it was not good quality. This hotel is very over- priced and I would not stay here again.

Pros: The Hotel is located in a great spot! Close to restaurants and lots of main attractions, hop on hop off bus stop right in front of hotel. The staff was very pleasant and customer service was good.
Cons: It is a little outdated, they are in the works of renovation. clean bed, shower and bathrooms need a deep thorough cleaning not just wiping down BUT scrubbing with disinfectants.

Pros: Very light clean neat hotel it’s a shame that there only located in the Scotland areas.As a lady travelling alone I felt very secure which was at the top of my priority list.
Cons: When I first arrived by Taxi I was dropped off at the incorrect part of the hotel so signing could of been better as it was raining . I had to go back outside with my luggage which was very inconvenient with the horrible weather staff said this happens several times daily.

Pros: Amazing view of the Edinburgh Castle and the location couldnt be better. The staff were mostly friendly and arranged a taxi for us when we needed it. The hotel is very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Would definitely go back. Every hotel is overpriced theses days in my opinion so I can't complain about their prices because they are as overpriced as everywhere else.
Cons: The only complaints were there was no water coolers or places to fill up water other than the fitness room. The fitness room is available and I'm glad they had it but it is very small and if there are two people it is crowded, but still, it is nice they have anything.

Cons: The lift was diabolical. It seemed like was only one lift for the hotel which was very poor. We were travelling with my elderly parents, otherwise we would have taken the stairs. On booking I requested ajoining rooms, again as we were with my parents. We were given rooms 3 floors apart!

Cons: A lot was terrible at this hotel. The absence of a doorman to help with your luggage upon arrival or to hail a cab was just awful. The parking garage is a few blocks away which is Extremely inconvenient. The staff was DREADFUL except the lad who we gave our key to as we left. The room was frigid and the heat was turned off each day. The lights are run by the room card inserted in a slot by the door. This sometimes worked ....most of the time it didn’t. We had to ask twice for them to clean the room. The room service menu needs better descriptions of the food. The club sandwich had the crust cut off and had a fried egg on it.... besides that it fell apart in your hands. Lol ! We were told breakfast went to 10:30 am but when we got there at 10:10 am they told us breakfast was over.... I literally pleaded that We we’re told breakfast went to 10:30.... we felt like they did us a favor feeding us!!! Every employee we met you felt like they could care less and were really not helpful. We met a couple who had been looking for their room for literally over an hour before we showed them where their room was. The elevator was always full of guests complaining. But the final straw was we went out to dinner and looked forward to eating the chocolates we received when we arrived but they were GONE. We called the desk to ask for another sack of chocolate..... it took hours and 3 phone calls . We expected to do laundry but with the awful service we decided not to risk it!!! At the heart of any hotel is the service and that is sadly missing at the Radisson Collective! This was by far the worst service of ANY hotel on our trip.

The heating came on at 6am and was very noisy. This woke my partner and I up and we couldn't get back to sleep with the noise.
The tea/coffee machine in the room did not work.
Left my straighteners behind in the room but when I contacted the hotel to enquire about this they said they checked and they were not there. That is a mystery to me.

Cons: The breakfast was quite bad, I got hair in the breakfast bacon.... The room was dirty when we arrived and it was stop in the sink that no one did anything about but after two days. The bed was loud when you moved at night. I actually expected a higher standard for this price.

We had a lovely room with the exception of the heat - it was so HOT with no way to cool the room. It was an attic style room with a very small window which we were able to open but it simply did not provide enough cooling. The room itself was well appointed and one of the bigger rooms during our stay in Scotland.

Cons: The one thing which suprised us was that one evening my partner who has Parkinson's went to the bar on his own for one pint. He was rather wobbly so asked the barmaid if she would put his pint on a table to save him spilling it . She refused and said it would cost an extra £5 for her to do it. We had had such good and helpful service from the rest of the staff it came as a shock.

There are two bedrooms; 1 king size double en suite with TV, one twin, Double sofa bed in living room, 2nd bathroom. Bedrooms are peaceful and quiet at night. Open plan kitchen/dining/living room with 3 windows looking directly onto Royal Mile/Lawnmarket. All windows in the property are double glazed. Bathrooms have under floor heating. There is gas central heating. The property retains great period features; old stone fireplaces, exposed ancient stone walls; and yet provides all modern conveniences and striking decoration. Situated in the historic Old Town of Edinburgh, this is the best place to stay in the city. The Old Town is a World Heritage site. Steeped in history, packed with museums, visitor attractions, specialty shops, restaurants and pubs. Edinburgh castle is 1 minute walk from your front door. This area of the city has a real buzz and is a joy to explore. This apartment is however in a peaceful location late at night with no nightclubs or noisy pubs. Cons: The internet & 4g connectivity in the room was none existent. I tried all 3 WiFi codes in the room repeatedly & my own network & still had to go outside to get a decent connection. The shower head was broken & had been taped back into place meaning it didn’t really work anymore. New shower heads are very cheap to buy! The water pressure was also very weak meaning pretty unsatisfying showers throughout. The lighting in the bathroom was also really weak which made it dark in the early mornings & at night. Given the price I’d expect a little more attention to detail over things like lighting & the bathroom facilities.

Cons: They are not up front about several things. First there is no one at the place to handle problems. No desk, no phone number. Just email. Second, the only way to get in is by a terrible spiral stone staircase, so it is very hard to get large suitcases up. Third, when I made the reservation they immediately charged me and sent an email that I would be on the fourth floor. I made the reservation months in advance and I asked them to move me to a lower floor. They said they couldn't, but if they could it would cost 10 euros. Very hard to deal with. They also do not provide maid service unless you pay another 17 euros per day! Also no place to leave your luggage because its not a hotel. Finally, I have some serious concerns about the integrity of the apartments. The floors slope and there is serious signs of cracking and sag. At these prices, you are far better booking elsewhere!

Cons: First room had no bath (as advertised) and a broken toilet which resulted in being moved rooms. Second room had multiple weird moist stains around the apartment, a broken oven and a half broken futon. Some of the cooking utensils were also filthy and looked as though they hadn't been washed in over a week. Unfortunately the only other rooms available also had faults with them so another move was pointless. I would have cancelled and switched to another Aparthotel but on the day pricing for five nights was at least double the rate that we booked.

Pros: The location was amazing, with the view of the Scott Memorial, Princess Gardens and a bagpiper playing. The rooms were really comfortable, clean and quiet. I would definitely stay there again in the heart of Edinburgh.
Cons: Some of the soft furnishings were very worn and faded but it gave the place an authentic feel.

Cons: Room was quite small and bathroom was tiny. Location was OK but I thought it was closer to Old town Edinburgh. (it wasn’t far away but it was my mistake).

Cons: Reception staff were great and our room was ready early. The room was large and comfortable but all its fittings and furniture looked worn and tired, surprising for the price. Bed was very comfortable but bathroom door was swollen and wouldn't close properly. It was a very comfortable mixed bag. We were surprised to have to establish an account to charge anything to our room, anywhere else we have stayed this has been automatic.
