Top tips for finding cheap flights to Vienna

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Vienna flight deals.
  • Vienna International Airport (VIE) serves as the arrival airport for a disproportionately large number of aircraft to Vienna. The distance from Vienna's city centre to the airport is approximately 18 km. Due to the abundance of transportation alternatives, which make it simple for them to connect to numerous locations both inside and outside of Vienna, most travellers prefer to arrive here.
  • If you decide to book a flight with Salzburg Airport (SZG) as the arriving airport, your chances of finding cheaper travel fares to Vienna will be improved. This is due to the lesser demand among tourists going to Vienna for the flights that land at SZG. Additionally, if you land at SZG as opposed to VIE, you will have shorter lines at the security gates and baggage claim area.
  • Depending on the airline you choose, you will either make one or two stops en route to Vienna. For instance, Austrian Airlines offers both one-stop and two-stop flights, allowing customers to select the one that best suits their needs. Travellers who want to get to Vienna as quickly as they can should consider Delta Airlines' nonstop flights.
  • After your flight to Vienna lands at Vienna International Airport (VIE) and you’ve claimed your baggage and cleared customs, don’t leave without a few minutes of plane spotting from the Visitors Terrace! This area is open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, from March to November.
  • If you’re feeling a little under the weather after a long flight, make a quick stop at the Medical Centre located in the arrivals area of Vienna International Airport. They’re located in Terminal 1 (Level 1) and are open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm.
  • If you think you'll be a little bit too jet-lagged after your flight to Vienna, consider booking the airport’s VIP Arrival Service package for €270 (C$ 408). The perks include exclusive access to an airport lounge for one hour and VIP service through all security checks.
  • Passengers travelling with children can drop by the VISITAIR Centre where kids can learn everything about how an airport works. Tickets cost €10.90 (about C$ 16) for children and €15.90 (about C$ 24) for adults.
  • The Vienna International Airport benefits from a fast and direct train to the city centre, known as the CAT. It is a 16-minute ride and tickets cost €12 (about C$ 18) for a one-way trip and €21 (C$ 31) for return trips.

Super friendly crew. Leg space and entertainment system are below average

Flight was delayed for 4 hours and they misplaced my luggage too. Appalling.

Not exceptional but all good. Business class seats are like the domestic Mint class on Jet Blue. Comfortable but not exceptional. Food is good but not superb. Flight attendants were better on India leg than Miami to Zurich. All India staff was more professional and service oriented. Very polite and service with a smile.

We so appreciated that our connecting flight waited for 6 of us!!!

We were very impressed with Swiss Air. The service was exceptional. Unfortunately, we had a baby behind us that screamed for hours. , It was a nightmare, though I completely understand that it was not Swiss Airs fault.

The two meals were plentiful and excellent. The drinks were continuous. Thanks, Crew very polite; however a bit "hazard" at the end as they were rushing us off; to prepare for the cleaning team and next flight. Baggage from Berlin was delayed; however through the apps etc; they kept me aware and informed.(.did receive my baggage about 36 hours after my flight arrival). Good experience; thank you.

A lot of things could have been better. They lost our luggage. We missed our connection from YVR to Naples when we arrived in Zurich and then we got re-routed to Rome and then Naples. We eventually got to Naples but our bags didn’t. Our experience at the lost luggage in the Naples was not at all reassuring. They didn’t seem that interested in our problem. I did a live chat with Swiss customer service and all they could do is tell me to follow the process. Meanwhile we’ve had to spend significant money on clothes and I have to replace medications. This has meant our trip so far has been totally different than what we had planned. It’s not clear that our baggage will ever show up which means we will have lost significant amount of clothing and other things and our two month trip to Europe will have more problems than good memories. So far we are not happy.

Pros: "Crew was very attentive, and boarding and off-boarding was relatively easy"
Cons: "The seats were cramped, and hard to get out of when the person in front had their seat tilted back, it felt practically in your lap when you were seated."
Pros: "Crew was very attentive and courteous"
Cons: "More fruits and non-starchy vegetables would make food more enjoyable"
Cons: "Nada, I slept through this leg and the staff let me be."

the flight was canceled, and I had to stay more than six days at hotel . waiting . then I had to buy new ticket. really it was very bad experience, and I lost a lot of money and time , and your airline said sorry

Management and staff att viena wasn’t professional, and they are not good by how to communicate and solve the problem, I was shocked , as I know Austrian airlines was amusing Thank you

The baggage arrived damaged and i spent EUR 300 on the baggage a month ago. No responsibility from airline or the handles.

Premium Economy is good value in comparison to Business Class. Not all the perks of Business but a lot of leg room and wider seat and elbow room. Food was very good. I even asked for a Gruner Veltliner wine which was not on the trolley and the attendant went into Business/First to get me a glass. Nice little touch. I would like to have a wider selection of music -- more 70's-80's (guess how old I am).

There were a number of passengers scheduled to transfer to the flight from Vienna to Warsaw. None of them made it because the crew failed to assist them in getting to the gate for the Warsaw bound flight in time. It could have been done very easily with proper assistance.

It becomes like Wizz air, no good, bad comfort and you should pay for 20kg bag.

I am Star Alliance Gold which meant nothing at security as my partner, who was on the same ticket, couldn’t come through with me which meant I had to wait for 20 minutes for him to join me. For a hub airport the lounge was small and uninspiring. We told staff of our security experience and they informed us it was like this for everyone. Isn’t this is an Austrian Airlines hub? Boarding was a nightmare as there was only one person at the gate and again, I had to go through without my partner. The boarding was supposed to be in groups but a bunch of travellers with lower groups were crowding the entry level. After I managed to get through I found myself on a bus waiting with 3 others for 15 minutes as the checkin had failed. Then only to find everyone else coming onto the same bus. My partner and friends actually beat me onboard. The crew were young and unable to control the crowd allowing people to stand in the rain instead of getting people to their seats promptly. During flight we were only offered a cup of water & a chocolate. Not impressed with Austrian Airlines or their Vienna hub airport and plan not to use them again if I can help it!

The restrictions regarding carry-on baggage is too strict. My wife was forced to check her carry-on bag. Never had this on other airlines.

Very efficient and profesional .One of the best. I had 20 minutes between 2 flights and still made it amazing.

Original Flight was cancelled Then Baggage was lost on rebooked flight

Food quality is deteriorating each time, last year was very good. I avoid the plane food lately.

I felt the overall quality of the plane and food service was less than that of their partner airlines, United. An example was wine was served in paper cups in premium economy class. There was no real silverware, napkins or a welcome kit other than a pillow and blanket.

I like the frequent mails we get when there is an update. Please keep it up

I have traveled to probably over a hundred locations worldwide, but had only one mixup of airport in Shanghai. Until Iceland and Stockholm. Reykjavik has 2 airports, Stockholm 4 (!). Please indicate clearly when a departure flight is scheduled from an aiport other than the international aiport. That would greatly reduce stress. Thanks

my husband's monitor did not work. there was a visibly ill family in my husband's row.

we had to unexpectedly check a bag, the flight was late getting in

There was a two hour delay because of incompetence in scheduling fuel truck. Further, upon arrival in Roanoke, hand baggage was sent to baggage claim. We carry hand baggage because it contains valuable or sensitive materials that we do not want going through the baggage system. This is very poor and United needs to perform better.

Pros: "thanks to the paid upgrading we got 2 seats in the front of the cabin (row 5)"
Cons: "there was NO organisation at all during boarding: the people just stood in line, not respecting 1,5m. Also at the airport security waiting lines no attention to social distancing was respected. At arrival the off-boarding was in groups of 8th rows, not really helpfull either. A big disappointment versus the flight we had from BXL to PORTO !"
Pros: "UP TO THE MARK I EXPECTED"
Cons: "A PILLOW WOULD BE GOOD, MAKING THE FLIGHT MORE COMFORTABLE"
Pros: "the only thing that stands out was the agent who checked me in at Entebbe. She was pleasant and helpful. Most things were ok, but not special."
Cons: "Because I require oxygen onboard, I was not allowed to check in on line. consequently, my wife and I got middle seats that were very tight. At least one of them was an aisle."

A350 has great entertainment. Make sure to watch the plane's external tail and nose camera's on landing and take off. Seats were a little hard for a 10 hour flight. I am gluten intolerant, they had good alternative meals for me on the flight.

I'm Canadian. I have the unfortunate experience of pretty not having the choice to fly with them. THEY ARE TERRIBLE.

Excellent service by united air staff. Very helpful, understanding and do friendly.

Great, the staff the service and everything was very good, without delays very comfortable.

Do not take this rubbish connecting flight. Flight will be full when you get in and won’t even have space to keep the bags, have to keep the bags in between the seats and keep your feet on the bags for the duration of the flight which is very painful and not what you want when flying international.

Everything was fine except that the ground personnel in Toronto wasn't able to operate the jet bridge, so that everybody was stuck in the plane after landing for 40 min, so I missed my connection.

Clean bathrooms They wreaked of urine Seats were very uncomfortable No room for my legs

They have more than 4 hours delay, and broken all my bags

The distance between terminals was not clear to me and on my return flight i almost missed y flight in Frankfurt.

Very short flight so the limited space and lack of entertainment were no issue. Crew was friendly and the flight was very punctual. Baggage claim in Prague was lightning quick.

Fruit and cheese platter was dubious quality. The edges of the cheese pieces were dried, plastic looking. Old.

Terrible experience. Air canada is the worst and Kayak website is also not transparent.

Cancel because of maintenance issues. rebooked next day and then the replacement plane 3 hours late.

My flight was great but my inbound flight from Toronto to Sault st Marir delayed more than 2 hours and we had to change the airoplan.

This was a fraudulent transaction. Kayak was at fault for accepting a stolen credit card. Kayak needs to change their verification process.

As is pretty much the norm with Air Canada now, we left late from the gate (45 minutes late). This is my 12th flight with AC in the last 12 months and 10 of those flights were either late or cancelled. AC essentially has a monopoly in Canada so they have carte blanche to charge exorbitant rates now and give poor service, with no repercussions.

I did not like the fact that our bags went missing

Free ear adapters for movie screen and a snack with a beverage.

Airport staff super friendly. Even put us on an earlier flight because we arrived early.

A 2 hour delay because they couldn’t fit some oversized cargo in the small hold doors of an Embraer! Surely they know the sizes before attempting to load it?
