I am not a huge fan of air travel but due to work I fly back and forth from Edmonton to Toronto every six weeks or so. IMO Air Canada is the best airline. It is definitely the most expensive but the flight crew are all far more professional than any of the discount carriers. The air craft is also configured in a more passenger friendly fashion so that it's not the most uncomfortable three hours possible. I do wish the price was a bit lower but they always get you home which is the whole point of putting up with air travel, and sadly, more than you can say for a lot of the other operations with planes in the sky right now.

After this uber-security play, we got back on the same plane and sat for almost 2 hours on the tarmac, even though we were the only plane in the airport! Prior to all of this, I had to cancel one of the three flights I booked because ONE letter in the last name of a passenger was missing. This mistake cost me around $800 and a ton of hassle. I will never book with Justfly and China Eastern again, and Kayak shouldn't have a well-known fraudulent Booker like Just fly in their search results."

Chengdu airport has 175 gates yet we still have to get on a van and board the plane on the tarmac which is odd. No wine in business class which I thought was odd too. Food wasn't god, but I am used to that."

Hats off to China Eastern, exceeded my expectations and beat the competition. Gutted my flight is with Lufthansa from Shanghai to Frankfurt. Will definitely be looking to fly with them again. Can't comment on economy as didn't get chance to look around."

Not overly strict with luggage, always asking for a better to serve. Transportation to and from the provided hotel was easy crew was helpful, hotel staff arranged everything including pickup time, wakeup call, and breakfast. The Chinese officials were helpfull as well since they had to check my luggage and assist me for I forgot to removed my batteries to my carry on instead ."

My husband's flight was moved a day earlier leaving from Bangkok due to overbooking, so we called to have his flight upgraded but we couldn't reach anyone. We asked at the check-in counter for the airline to upgrade his flight but were told that we needed to call to do that. We did! But no one answered! The website was always down when trying to reserve seats. My husband and I were seated separately even though we checked in together on the last leg of flight from Shanghai to Bangkok and there were plenty of seats leftover that we could have been seated. The plane was not even full."

No slippers to wear for such a long flight. Eva Air offers slippers and blankets even to their economy class passengers. 4. Could not bring water on to the plane even after having gone through security. No other airlines I traveled with during my entire trip had that policy: Eva Air, Korean Air, Peach, Scoot. 5. When another passenger buzzed a flight attendant, she came and responder with "what do you need?" instead of "How can I help you?" 6. Granted there was some turbulence during thr flight..but the ENTIRE time, seat-belt buckle sign was on...from Shanghai to LAX. That is one LONG flight. People need to get up and stretch their legs. Have no clue if it was bc they just didn't want to deal with the passengers or making announcements or switching on and off the seat-belt sign...but it was on the ENTIRE flight. Overall, terrible. Will not be flying China Eastern again."

People started turning up, crying and writing last words. However, your crew members GAVE NO INSTRUCTIONS, BROADCASTING OR UPDATES ON WHATS GOING ON. What they did was mocking around with each other in Cantonese. 3. This would be my last time travel with you - I was your loyal customer since student time. But after this awful experience I chose not to go with you anymore."

I have to run in the dark nearly 2 km to catch 1:20 am CA 429 to Sydney Australia. Really bad international service in Chengdu Shuangliu!!"

I had to spend the night sitting on the cold floor, hungry and anxious till the ticket counter reopened in the morning. The morning staff were even worse than the night crew. They were extremely rude, unprofessional, they lied and insulted customers. Very disappointed with Air China. Will file an official complaint."

I was just stunned that they would inconvenience hundreds of people whose schedules, including mine, were affected by their decision. May be it was a policy issue. But the crew didn't explain it very well, seemed more sympathetic towards the individual. While that was a kind solution to that one individuals but I wondered about the judgement of the crew. It was very frustrating for the rest of the people waiting onboard. I do admit I am a taller than average guy, but if you are over 6' tall you will have NO legroom. And I mean none. It is an insulting amount of legroom. My 5'6" wife barely had any room, never mind myself. On my flight back, I requested an emergency exit row seat (as I noticed on the flight over the emergency exit row was filled with old people and young couples with babies/ young children). And was informed it would cost $120 USD per flight per person. My jaw almost hit the floor. You mean to tell me that the emergency exit row - the row where in the case of an emergency you are supposed to physically be able to assist passengers - actually COSTS money to sit in? That is an absolute disgrace. You have to pay for the added responsibility to help in the case of an emergency? Of course, once I was on the flight the emergency exit row was filled with old people and babies. All of course perfectly capable of helping in the case of an emergency. I was, and still am furious. The gall to charge that much money and then give the responsibility to people unable to help? Meanwhile, an able-bodied couple in the 20s is denied and I am cramped in my less-than-acceptable-for-budget-airlines legroom. And the food. Putrid. Inedible. It was somehow overwhelmingly fragrant while far too bland. Its hard to imagine someone putting together that meal and feeling proud. The meals all screamed "I do not care about my customers." In fact, that is the overwhelming feeling I got from Air China. An airline that truly could not careless about their customers. I would not reccommend. Even if they are the cheapest by a far margin. Stay away. Do not go near. Air China is a terrible airline that should be avoided at all costs."

Cons: "Transfering in Chengdu takes forever. First we didn't get a gate and had to take a bus to terminal the long way round the runway - 10 mins. Then we had to collect our suitcases and re-check in and the queue was very long. Some people were very stressed about missing their connecting flights. Then when transferring to connecting terminal you first have to walk far within the terminal, then have to go outside security, find yourself the shuttle bus to the other terminal yourself, then go through security again - many more queues. Lots of time spent and lots of stress, and I'm not alone as everyone was complaining."
